Deployment of Flex app to web and app server

Hi
I'm working on putting a Flex front-end on an existing J2EE
app which gets deployed as an ear file. The architecture consists
of web server, app server and database server. Is the following
approach to deployment possible / recommended?
My Flex app will be deployed to the web server. The J2EE ear
file will be deployed to the app server (Weblogic). BlazeDS will be
bundled within the ear file as a war file. Remote Objects will be
configured in my BlazeDS configuration files to enable me to access
the code in my J2EE app. In the compiler options of my Flex app,
I'll be setting the server root folder and server root URL to point
to the BlazeDS war file on my app server.
At present I'm at the stage where I can run my Flex app
directly from Flex builder on my development PC and it's able to
connect tto the J2EE app, which is running on the app server
(Weblogic) also on my development PC. I can't find documentation
explaining how to extend this to work on a multi-tier architecture.

i have been using OpenBSD as my Web and file server for a while now
and FreeBSD as my Desktop
i decided on OpenBSD as my Server because of its Security
1) But now i hear Solaris is the most Secure OS pn the Planet? is this true
And which is real Unix?
i seem to always have trouble with things such as PHP on OpenBSD
Most of my pages run as *.html but i also have a forum which uses PHP 4
But all my PHP pages come up blank..
i am always encountering errors using PHP
2) If i Switch to Solaris will it b even harder to use or
is it precompiled with PHP 4 and higher when i install Apache
3) Also what about cgi and the ability to use *.htaccess files should i use them

Either will work just fine. Since you're asking in the Sun forums, you should receive more Solaris replies of course! :-)
The weak point in your setup (as far as security goes) would be the use of PHP either way...

You need to install "Webconnector" plugin to connect to Sun One webserver and App server..
The webconnector pluging comes with Appserver binary.

Deploying a flex/j2ee/blazeDS web in Ubuntu Tomcat 6

Hi!
I've create a Web Application (in Eclipse - Flex Plugin on WinXP) and I want to deploy it a Ubuntu tomcat server.
I've deployed a .WAR file from Eclipse (on WINXP) with the flash files and the J2EE server files (java classes).
Then I put the WAR file inside the webapps folder on tomcat (in Ubuntu) but only the interface works... the connection with the Server doesn't work.
For example, I can see the "welcome page" but If i type my login and password and push the "login" button it doesn't work at all (nothing happens).
Could anybody help me?

Maybe the error is that I didn't create the WAR file correctly:
I made Export->Web->WAR File over the main folder (project name).
I've readen that only the WEB-INF is needed... is that correct?

How to call Web Start app from Web Start app?

Is there a way to call another Java Web Start Application from a running
Java Web Start Application, possibly from a different JNLP file?
Could this be done in a way that there won't be another virtual machine
launched; i. e. that the started Application will run in the same virtual
machine as the calling one?

Im not sure about running in the same Jvm however there are two ways I know of to start another jnlp app. I am using this to essentially restart my application however, you dont have to do that and can start another web application by either using BasicService.showDocument with the jnlp file ( should start a webs tart app) or usign runtime exec with javaws and the jnlp as the argument.

Internet on all apps except Safari and App Store?

I got a question. I just bought an iPhone yesterday (before this I had Blackberry, but it broke for the second time already). All things work, got my apps installed and stuff like that. Now the problem is:
Whenever i am NOT on Wi-Fi but i'm on the mobile network there is a problem. I can not connect to the App Store, Safari or YouTube. In YouTube and App Store I get an error message that it can not connect. But in Safari it loads for two seconds, finishes loading but the page stays white (it doesn't matter which site I try to open).
Is anyone familiair with this problem? A lot of people say that it is the network settings. But may i add: i STILL can acces Twitter, FaceBook and stuff like that. Also WhatsApp works normally. Only Safari/App Store/YouTube won't under 3G/GSM network.

Oh BTW. I bought an iPhone 4, 16 GB. It is new and running OS 5.0.1 (I updated).
Some of the solutions I tried:
- resetting network settings
- resetting all settings
- resetting the whole phone (to the point as I bought it just two seconds ago)
- resetting (the home button, lock button method)
- putting in the network settings manually

I did try that one. But for some reason it still does not help. The strange thing stays that I can acces Twitter and other Apps. But still nos Safari/App Store. Only when I am on Wi-Fi.

No. Not even sure what you mean by that. The phone is trying to access particular IP addresses on the internet, which don't exist on "my own network."

No again. The fact that your router works with other devices doesn't mean it's compatible with the iPhone. Did you even try restarting and updating the router as suggested?

Installed apps directory deleted and apps are miss...

I moved the files in my installed apps folder to the root of the apps directory. The apps worked fine. I deleted the installed apps directory and now when i install apps the only way i can acess them is if i put them as a shortcut on the main screen!! I've tried istalling lots of different apps on the phone memory and memory card. Its a new phone so i dont mind restoring all the settings. Ive allready reset the factory setting and installed the firmware again but with no hope all help is appreciated.

The above Security Update went on to all of our W7 PC last night as part of Patch Tuesday and broke a large number of our existing 4.6 Autodesk related packages. AutoCAD itself was not affected but Revit, Navis, DWG TrueView all were. Not got to the bottom
of why yet (the explanation for the update does not sound like it would make any difference) but simply removing the update from client PCs fixes the packages which will do me for now. If you have any control over when security updates go on to your PCs I
advise on checking it out

Yet another question : What is the difference between a web server and application server? Functionally how do the 2 differ? Can one assume the functions of both? Please Help

Web servers handle static content like HTML pages.
There is a hierarchy of app servers.
Servlet/JSP engines have Web servers built into them, so they can also handle static content. But they also can act as a container for servlets and JSPs, so they can also handle dynamic content. You can use JDBC to access a database and do 3-tier architectures with servlet/JSP engines.
J2EE app servers have Web server and servlet/JSP engine built into them, soi they can also handle static and dynamic content. But they can also act as a container for EJBs. They support the entire J2EE suite: servlets, JSPs, EJBs, transactions, messaging, naming, etc.
EAI servers can tie together multiple J2EE app servers.

My web and application roles for SharePoint are on a single server in which the hardware failed. I have SQL and the databases on another server. Is it possible to rebuild the server and connect it to these databases to restore the data?

As suggested by Scot, Rebuilding a server with the same Farm configuration database is not good to go because you may get some encountered error when associating the existing configuration databases.
Suggesting you to create a new SharePoint farm with same build version and then attach the content databases to this newly created farm.

Just updated my iphone 4 now the phone part is not working... texting, web, and apps appear to be working fine... can't make a phone call.

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version. I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again. I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again. My blue tooth doesn't work either. I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this. When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue. My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!! I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue. Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it. Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

After downgrading from build 10049 to 10041. I found that Cortana, Insider Hub, Photos, Camera, Maps, Reading List, Sound Recorder, Store Beta and Video all have random lettered names for example Cortana is called @{Microsoft Cortana_1.4.2.200_X64_8wekyb3d8bbwe?ms-resource://Micrsoft.Cortana/resourses/TitleDisplayName}.
Secondly a handful of apps with these types of names don't launch click and nothing happens. Theas apps all have similar names but I'm going to type what there supposed to be.

Would you elaborate what method you used to downgrade from 10049 to 10041 ?
If you were not using the following method, and since you are having so many problems now, would you mind have a look at it, and see if you would give it a try ?
Download build 10041 ISO from the link below:

After the ISO is downloaded, you have 2 options :
1. Burn the ISO to a bootable DVD or an USB with at least 4 GB in capacity.

Back up the files you want to keep, then use the bootable media to do a clean install.
Clean install means you keep nothing, that is why backing up personal files is necessary if you have important ones you need to keep.
2. Go to the folder where the downloaded ISO file is > right click at it > select Mount > select Setup.exe.
The system will start installing. The method will allow you to keep your personal files and settings.
