Deployment Package fail to copy on an update that doesnt exist

I have a deployment package that is getting a error saying the source directory for a update doesnt exist. I look at the members of the deployment package and there are no errors in the package itself. I look at the ID that was provided in the error but
it doesnt match any of the Unique Update IDs in the package or any update in my All software update list at all. I am wondering how I can clear this? Am I missing something on the IDs that I should be looking elsewhere for the answers? Or am I stuck recreating
the deployment package?
Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful.

The update was in my server package but not in my workstation package for some reason. We had this setup for many of other without any problems. With Torsten's query I was able to get the update that was having the problem and copied it from the server
download folder to the workstation and it worked. Thanks Torsten for the help

  • Installation of creative cloud for teams deployment package fails

I inherited a department that has been using the trial versions of creative cloud and old versions of some CS6 apps up until now. I have purchased and activated through the admin web site CC for teams. I downloaded and packaged the app that they need to use without errors. However, on the first mac I tried installing it just quit with an error of unable to install, contact your administrator. I did some searching and came across the adobe creative cloud cleaner and followed the instructions... uninstall current apps and run the cleaner. Now error says to contact the software vendor. The first user is now dead in the water and does not have any adobe apps, trial or otherwise to work on projects with deadlines looming. Any help would be appreciated.
The build package installs fine on my clean mac that I used to create the deployment package

I think I  got it resolved... the USB flash drive I was using wasn't formatted for the Mac OS, so I guess there are file names that are not compatible for the FAT32 format it originally was at. Thanks.

  • Change deployment package for software updates

    Hi there
Currently we have different deployment packages and software update groups based on year, product, etc.
In the near future i'd like to rearange our software deployment process in configuration manager 2012:
1x Deployment Package for all updates
1x "Full" Software Update Groups with all updates in it. Additional to that we'll create a "Diff" Software Update Group at the Patchday and merge the updates later via edit membership in the "Full" Software Update Group.
Are the following steps which i would perform correct?
    1. Select all updates which are deployed and not expired and not superseeded
    2. Create a new Software Update Group "Full"
    3. Select the new Software Update Group --> Download --> Create my new deployment package
    4. Deploy the new software update group to my collections
    5. Delete the obsolete software update groups / deployment package
    6. Delete the old updates source folders on our filer.
I current don't know if the redownload process let the updates "forget" the old deployment package. With the above described steps i should get rid of all expired and superseeded updates.
    Thanks for any advice :-)
    Regards,
    Simon

That is correct they only receive and install the updates they require, but don't confuse the metadata and deployments with the updates themselves. They will still receive the metadata and the policies for every update you deploy to them and that's where
the problem lies. Each and every update assigned to a client (using a deployment) has it's own policy which of course must be downloaded by the client and stored in WMI causing the bloat. Note that I haven't experienced this first-hand but am relying on the
accounts of others here in the forums but to me, if there is any chance of this being an issue, I would avoid it.
For Update Groups, just a few categories is sufficient to break things up and I typically do three: workstations, server, office. These are often on different patching schedules anyway so it makes sense to have three separate ADRs for them anyway.
For packages, I typically organize based on the calendar creating a new package every 3-6 months with the package containing all updates. There's really no need to divide the package up by product unless you have DPs dedicated to a specific product. Note
that pre-R2, to change the package an ADR referenced you had to use PowerShell -- it's been added into the GUI in R2 though.

  • Generate every hour event 2331 for each DP after Software update Deployment Package deletion

We have an organization build on SCCM 2012 R2 with 270 DPs configured with DP Pulls function. The centralized point contains DP sources available for all DP Pull.
We have some problems with Windows Update deployment package, and we decide to delete them. We first remove them from all DPs. After more than a month we delete the deployment package. From this day, we see that the SMS_Distribution_Manager service generate
every hour logs for contacting each of the 270 DPs to ask them for deleting the package.
Remark: At the time we run the delete, some of the DPs were not connected. After 3 weeks all of them were connected. A month later, the SMS_Distribution_Manager
generate always these events every hour.
Each DP responds with a 2331 event that seems OK. Every hour the system begin with two events (2301 and then 2300 for this package, after a 2331 for each
DP). All these events are also present in the application log of the Event Viewer. After the last DP connection that respond with 2331 event, there are no event that generalize a task for the package to definitively remove it from the database.
Could anyone help me to correct the system?

There are no error messages. There are only messages generated in Distribution_manager logs and Event Viewer, showing us server processing and network activity on package that was deleted over 40 days, and that happened every hours. The Microsoft support
give us directives to delete orphan records in 4 tables
    pkgServers_L,pkgServers_G,PkgStatus_L,PkgStatus_G)
At this time the correction has positive effect.

  • WSUS Updates to Available and Required collections - multiple deployment packages?

Hi, I'm trying to follow various documents but cannot find a single unified methodology for how WSUS updates are now supposed to work
I am creating software update Groups and trying to keep them under 1000 updates each as they take 2 hours or so.
So i have a Pre2103, All2013, 2014January to May, 2014 June to September and starting from this month i will do one monthly
My Client base is servers or workstations. I have 2 collections - Available (DCs SQl etc that need manual intervention) and Required (everything else)
So i now create a deployment package for each group - but now i have to do that twice? Once for available collection and once for required collection? Am i missing an easier/better way of doing this?
Once these have all been set up do i then have to deploy them with an ADR? Inject them into the Gold image of my workstations?
I would like the internal WSUS to work exactly like (or as near as can be) to the way microsoft's works. EG if i take a vanilla windows 7 or 8 build and connect it to my network, it gets the GPO, installs the client then goes to SCCM and gets alll the updates
to bring itself up to date without me having to then go back into SCCM and create a specifc deployment of job or to manually send out anything.
Or will this only work when the collection gets updated and is aware of the new computer?
    Thanks

OK i'm doing this now. As in the initial message i posted, everything up til 14th October is
done and dusted. I have 4x Software Update groups. Pre2013, All2013,2014JantoMay and
    2104JunetoSept
For each of these groups, i created a Folder under the root All Software Updates", filtered
my searches and moved each grou of updates into its own folder for neatness, as well as a
    "Superseded and Expired" folder
To deploy each of these i HAD to create a deployment package for each. Only done "Required"
so far so i have 4 Deployment packages.
So, now i am going to step through what i think i need to do to set up updates released on or
    after 14/10/2014
I have no software update group or deployment package for October's releases and no ADRs at
    all.
Just a list of 232 updates in All Software Updates. I deleted expired and superseded etc.
In this view, there are 64 Assets total. 7 unknown!!? What does this even mean? How do i find
out which are unknown? In the all device list, they are either clients or not. Nothing says
    unknown!! Anyway thats for later...
    I have 2x collections. WSUS-Available (x23) and WSUS-Required (x41)
None of the 232 updates are downloaded and theres a mixture of required not required and
    percent compliant. .
I have a workstation on the domain and have run a windows update (updates managed by my
system administrator) and it says Up to date - and it takes ages.
If i change this to "Check fromo Microsoft" i get 42 important updates and 34 optional
updates available. This is my target scenario to hit from SCCM WSUS
    OK here goes.
I select all 232 updates and move them to a folder called 2014October
i go to Automatic Deployment Rules and Create a new one called WSUS2014Oct-Required
    select Patch Tuesday Template
    Collection is WSUS-Required
create a new software update group
    Auto Deploy
Released last 2 weeks - every update classification
Run on a schedule - every second tuesday
    Client local time
1hour / as soon as possible
    default/default/default
now i need to create a new deployment package. Call it WSUS2014Oct
Point it at sources and a folder called 2104October
Now i choose Download software updates from a location on my network and select the local
    drive "E:\WSUS\WSUSContent" folder
So now i have a "Required" ADR and i click Run Now
BUT now i need to do one for the Available group as well. I notice that during the ADR i
    cannot select Required or Available.
So i guess i need to suppress reboots on Servers then?
Also if i am using the same deployment package, why do i need to reselct the download
location again? its the same updates
Also, now that i have 2x ADRs the first one i created creates the deployment package and the
second ADR now points to that deployment package too so i now dont have separate packages to
    monitor
Also, after running them both i get errors and no software update groups are created. So im
guessing thats the problem as the error is 0x80070002 the file you specificed could not be
    found
also get error on the available group saying Auto Deployment Rule download failed
This is ridiculous. Why does creating an ADR allow creation of a SUG if it doesnt work.
    Very frustrated

  • Powershell, Deployment Packages and Software Updates OH MY!

Ok, so I snooped around and was not able to find an answer to my question so here goes.
I'm building an automated process where Orchestrator runbooks will automate the entire process of downloading updates, deploying to test groups, waiting for an approved RFC then deploying the updates. That's the 10k foot level view.
My question revolves around the process of downloading software updates and placing them into a package.  It has been suggested that the Save-CMSoftwareUpdate does this, but reviewing the doc I am less inclined to believe this statement.  Was hoping
to get lucky and have someone reply that they have done this and here are the interesting parts.
This will all be performed via powershell commands with no direct user interaction at all.  So some powershell script that pops up the download software updates wizard will not work for me.
Thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom around this,
    Jim

Ok, I know that we are playing 20 questions here, but I needed the first part to scope the next set of questions.
You say that the approvals are coming from an external source...are you wanting to automate the parsing of the external source or are you planning on putting the approvals into a WSUS group for it to download the update content?  Keep in mind here
that the UpdateID that I am referring to is a GUID and not something that someone is likely to give you in a human readable document.  The problem with Bulletin IDs is that they will likely apply to a number of operating systems and architectures.
It would be nice if you could get them to populate the approvals into the computer group directly to alleviate the ambiguity.  Of course you have to remember that someone has to keep it cleaned up.
You can query WSUS for all of the UpdateIDs for a given computer group.
Beyond this, you will now need to use the WSUS APIs and may want to take a look at the IUpdate interface:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.updateservices.administration.iupdate_members(v=vs.85).aspx and call the GetInstallableItems method, which will return a list of InstallableItem:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.updateservices.administration.installableitem_members(v=vs.85).aspx each item will have an ID, which is the ID that you will need to publish into your update package; it also has a Files property, which
is a list of files for the installable item, and is of type UpdateFile:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.updateservices.administration.updatefile_members(v=vs.85).aspx.  These are the files that will get published into the update package.  Each update file will have a FileUri property, which will
provide you with a web link to download the file.  If you are a bit more enterprising, you can mangle the FileUri into a UNC path, so that you can just copy the file directly.
You should now create the update list.  In the process of creating the update list, you will want to create a table of UpdateID to CI...you will need this when you create your advertisement.
Once you have gathered all of the update content, and their associated InstallableItem identifiers, you are ready to tell configuration manager to populate the update package with the installable items.  Interesting here is that you are dealing with
the installable items and not directly with the updates.  Configuration manager will associate the InstallableItems with the appropriate updates to be shown in the interface.
Once you get the package populated, you will need to create the advertisements to the appropriate collection.  By the way, this is done on an individual update basis.  Remember that update lists, update packages and update advertisements have
no direct relationship to one another, although a stronger bond was created in 2012.
    Simple stuff huh?!?
Remember that Configuration Manager will not pull metadata across for updates that are already superseded, so you may not always have a one to one reference.
Keeping your packages cleaned up, removing extraneous update content that is no longer needed, is a completely different subject.
It would be greatly appreciated if you would mark any helpful entries as helpful and if the entry answers your question, please mark it with the Answer link.

  • Software Update Deployment Packages won't distribute to DPs in ConfMgr 2012 R2

We remove the packages from the DPs, waited until there was no activity in the log files, started distributing to single server, same result.
The DPs worked fine with ConfMgr 2012 and ConfMgr 2012 SP1.
I also looks as if the problem is isolated to SU Packages and does not happen for Applications or Packages.
    Does anyone, have any idea?
    Thank you

  • Clients finds updates that is not deployed and fails to install them! Code: 80242006

    Hello!
I have SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 and trying to setup the Software Update Point!.
The weird thing is that the computers finds updates that is not deployed or not even downloaded and tries to install them but the fail with the error code: 80242006.
    See Pic:
    http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/3180/errorjo.jpg
Some of those updates in the picture actually are downloaded and deployed but many of them are not.
"Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Update --> Specify Intranet Microsoft Update Service Location" is pointing to our SCCM.
"Install Software Uppdates" in Task Sequance are disable.
The Update package is distrubuted to all DPs
Why does my computer find updates that is not is deployed or downloaded and why does it fail to install those that are?
Where do i start the troubleshoot?
    // Clint eastwood!

First check the windowsupdate.log and see which WSUS server that is being used. A Configmgr controlled client will not install non-deployed updates.

  • Software Update Downloads to Deployment Package Extreamly Slow

Trying to troubleshoot or identify why software updates are downloading so slowly when creating a new deployment package.
I'm thinking this may have to do with the preferred distribution point and prestaged distribution point settings.
We have one Boundary Group for entire site and one distribution point group for the same.
    Neither is configured for pre-staged.
It was my understanding that any distribution point in the primary site is already a "preferred distribution point".
Also, prestaged distribution point settings options are not really clear.  If neither DP is configured to prestage, which option should be used for distribution settings?  Manually Copy content is default, assuming that this might be the issue?
In that by Automatically downloading content when assigned to distribution points is adding that into the process of downloading to the distribution package... where it isn't just downloading to package at source location, but instantly copying to both DPs
in the DP group?  This would explain the lag in the process i'm guessing since the "manual copy the content in the package to the distribution point" option would allow the download to the deployment package first, then the second step of sending
to the DP could happen after the fact?
    Deployment package Settings:
    Distribution Settings
    Distribution Priority: Medium
Checked: Distribute the content for this package to preferred distribution points
    Prestaged distribution point settings
Automatically download conetn when packages are assigned to distribution points

Has anyone experienced the standard copy package failing in BPC?  I get the error message: 'Object variable or With block variable not set'.

I tried to submit data via an input template and received the same error (Object Variable or With block variable not set).  I checked the security and the ID has all functionality access.  The member is a base member.  I also had the server rebooted and still no luck.

  • How can I tell what Software Update Groups are members of Deployment Packages?

    I have a single SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 server running on Windows Server 2012.
I am trying to clean things up a little bit and I am curious:
How can I tell which Software Update Groups use
which Deployment Packages?  I don't see it on the Properties of either one.
    Thanks!

Funny thing is that you can't see from the software update (in the software update group) in which deployment package(s) it exists. Your only options are manually comparing every single update (not really an option), or use PowerShell and do something
    like this:

I Have tried repairing visual studio But no use.
I have unistalled all the things and installed again but no use . Please anybody resolve this issue..

    Hello amanojkumar24,
I see a related error thread from here:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/b6a66a5a-e3b4-4f1a-848e-c1a6b7668b31/desgin-mode-breaks-down-during-windows-store-application-windows-8?forum=toolsforwinapps
As you've already repaired Visual Studio but Visual Studio still reports the error for you, we need to look into the error info:
This package requires minimum version 0.0.0.0 of framework Microsoft.VCLibs.120.00.Debug published by any publisher to install.
So here we need this package "Microsoft.VCLibs.120.00.Debug"
    Please do the following:
    1. Check your installation that you have enabled VC++ components. If you haven't or if you are not sure of it, please check this blog:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vcblog/archive/2014/08/01/c-runtime-for-sideloaded-windows-8-1-apps.aspx
Then you can download and install the package from
    here.
    2. You can also make sure you've registered and already have the license:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20010421/vs-2013-xaml-editor-and-microsoft-vclibs-120-00-debug
Someone fixed it by using this solution.
    Best regards,
    Barry

  • Re-download a Software Update to a Deployment Package

    Hi,
Is there a way to force SCCM to re-download a Software Update into a Deployment Package?
When you download a Software Update (right-click the update and click download), the wizard asks which Deployment Package to add it to (an existing package or create a new one).  The update is then downloaded to the UNC path specified in the package
with each update under a different directory (named as a GUID).
My issue is that many of these GUID directories have been accidentally deleted from the UNC path.  I know how it happened and that isn't the issue here - I simply want to download the updates again.  I would like to right-click my Software Update
group, select "Download", point it to the existing package and have all the updates download again.
When I try and do this, the wizard works fine and it processes each update and says "Success" - however, they are not actually re-downloaded!  It's like there is a link somewhere between the update and the package such that it knows it should
already be there and therefore it skips over it without actually checking whether it really does exist.
Is there a way to force SCCM 2012 to ignore the fact that it thinks the update is already there and re-download it?  What I really want to do is change the "Downloaded" field from "Yes" to "No" which I think would achieve
what I want to do - I just can't find a way to do it.
    What am I missing?
    Cheers,
    David

I had this same basic problem on a new SCCM 2012 R2 suite I built. I made all the Software Update Groups and Packages and deployed them. They all worked except for the one for Office 2010. Errors said could not process that package, couldn't find a
folder within the source location for the package, and on the DPs the Office 2010 package was there but had 0 for the size of the package.
I deleted the Office 2010 source update folder and package. Then you go to the updates in question, r-click and select deploy (it'll let you do that even if it thinks it's already deployed), create the new package, let the download run, r-click, and edit
membership as needed, and deploy. This worked for me.
