Deployment Remediation Wizard
So I just activated Patch Management with ZCM and things don't seem to be working the way that I think they should. I was able to put in my license, and download all of the patches.
However, when I select a patch and then go to 'Deploy Remediation' I'm taken to a screen where I'm supposed to select which devices I want to deploy to. The problem is that there are no devices listed. I know there are devices that have refreshed and run the DAU but they don't seem to be showing up in the deployment wizard.
Any suggestions?

I've done this and checked the log and everything seems to be running fine at the workstation level. I can see the workstation checking which patches it needs and uploading the results.
I've attached a scrubbed version of the log.

Hi
I tried to uninstall the workflow manger 1.0 by leaving the farm using Workflow Configuration wizard. But when i click on "Leave Workflow Manager Farm" it throws an error that 'Microsoft.Workflow.Deployment.ConfigWizard" stopped working...
How to unistall it?
Regards,
SivaHi Siva,
Please "run as Administrator" on the workflow configuration wizard, see if it could work.
If above doesn't work, please check workflow management log for troubleshooting.

Patch Bundle Deploy Remediation settings
Got ZPM up and running and seems to be working OK on a test machine, just got a few quick qu's on behaviours when deploying updates:
If I select a group of patches and want to use this as a baseline for all my machines am I best in using
a) a static group \ folder
b) applicable devices
I don't really like the idea of "All non-patched" as it gives me no control over what goes on so leaving that out as an option. I've noticed if I do "applicable devices" the Bundle filters out some of the patches (ones it knows are already on the machine?) but if I do a Folder \ Group every patch is listed as an Install action. Chances are I need to use option a) to be sure I'm catching every machine so will ZPM just skip updates in the Install phase if they're on the machine already?
Also when setting the Mandatory Baseline settings what I want to achieve is to allow the user to have full control over the reboot process i.e. they can reboot now, reboot later (snooze) or not reboot at all so my first guess on the settings was this:
Suppress Reboot: YES
Allow User to cancel: YES
Time to show dialog before reboot: 120
Allow User to snooze: YES
When deploying some patches I saw a box slide out from the system tray but it disappeared before I could do anything with it (hence setting the above to 120 seconds). Question is do any of the options override each other e.g. if I set the dialog to 120 will that auto reboot even though I've allowed user to suppress it?I am also interested in the best process to accomplish patch deployment. I have noticed that some patches tend to fail due to a variety of issues. Once the patch has been deployed whether it fails or not it is considered deployed and a Verify or redeployment of the patch is required to patch things up.
As far as a baseline setup this will provide several options that from my understanding are unrelated to each other. ie a "Snooze" setting of 120 seconds is not the same as a force reboot setting. This setup also doesn't seem to have any effect for the settings that are used for Patch deployment outside of the baseline setup. So if you deploy to a group or set of devices the settings listed in the baseline settings do not hold true to the patch bundles settings.
I too like the idea of baseline setup for specific dynamic groups and have played with them on specific groups. I haven't seen any major issues but have also heard the horror stories and remarks not to use baselines in this way.
Here is what I have done so far. I assign the patch bundles by month to the dynamic group (ie Windows 7). The end user notify settings are setup so that I add my departments information to the reboot notice that scrolls up near the system tray. I setup a allow user to snooze for the 120 seconds and force a reboot after 10 hours. This gives my end user a full days work before the device must be rebooted. Only complaint I have had from my end users is that the pop-up seems to be to persistent and they had wished for a far less notification time say once every few hours.
I am looking for a better way to deploy patch's then I currently have. I would like to have patch's deploy out if they have failed before. I always looked at the baseline as that way but with Novell documentation stating not to do this I have moved away from this deployment type. I would like to have Critical MS patch's deploy out and have a way to verify that the patch is deployed and if not redeploy automatically.
The largest issue I have with patch deployment is that the large part of my deployment are student computers. So if the patch process in place takes longer then a half hour then the chance is extremely great that the laptop will either be place in sleep/hibernation mode or shutdown completely. Keeping the patch bundles to a small deployment seems to be the best way to go but I have had major issues with Patch deployment showing a successful deployment only to have the patch's for that device to show a non-patched. From what I can see from another post this is a known issue with a workaround.

Scheduled multi-patch Bundle - will it work?
A while back we started trying out ZPM for all our patching, soon found that using it for Microsoft patches was a) a nightmare to manage and b) slowed our ZCM database down to a crawl for 8 hours a day while it did something odd with the ZPM log tables. Anyhow I've since deleted all Microsoft patches from Zen and gone over to WSUS for the Microsoft stuff, works a treat so I'm leaving that where it lies.
However we really need to push out some important Flash and Java updates (also found Google Chrome in the list so that would be nice too) and here's how I want to do it...
1) set the updates to install on a timed schedule and only install during this window
2) set a requirement on the patch Bundle to only run if HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon is set to 0 (i.e. the machine isn't in the middle of imaging as ZPM made a mess of things when it cuts in too early)
3) run Flash, Java and Google Chrome patches one by one i.e. the first one completes, next one starts and so on
4) run this Bundle daily so if machines miss it one time they grab it the next, although if the Bundle has already run successfully it doesn't reinstall every time (as that would just be silly)
5) run the updates successfully whether the user has admin rights or not (UAC may be on as ZCM 11.2.3a seems to have problems with Computer GPOs)
I tried doing multiple scheduled Bundles for each product individually which seemed to work, bit of a pain to manage though so I then tried a multiple Bundle. Thus far I've tried it two ways without success:
1) using the Deploy Remediation wizard and setting schedule in there (doesn't seem to run on schedule despite the Agent on a client knowing the Bundle is there and on schedule)
2) use Deploy Remediation to create the individual ZPM Bundles then make a separate Bundle that calls the ZPM ones. Worked on one machine where nothing had previously run but failed on another where the patches had already been applied.
I don't really want to use baselines as they are in 11.2.3a as they don't seem to work that well and don't give me control over when patches are applied. Can't go to 11.3 until summer at the earliest so that's out the equation as well. Any suggestions for how to achieve the above and where I might be going wrong?gshaw0,

Unable to deploy custom VC++ Wizard
I've developed a custom VC++ Wizard. This has been done using
VS 2013 Ultimate. However, I am not able to deploy it.
I've copied the 3 files, <wizard_name>.ico, <wizard_name>.vsz and <wizard_name>.vsdirto
<Visual_Studio_Installation>\VC\VCProjects. I've edited the
.vsz file to specify the necessary relative path to VCWizards.
I've kept the rest of the folders, viz., 1033, HTML,
IMAGES, SCRIPTS and TEMPLATES, in the
VCWizards\AppWiz\<wizard_name>directory.
The wizard shows up in the VC++ projects list, and the
HTML page shows up too, but when I click on finish, nothing loads and I see the same New Project screen again.
The wizard works normally, when I had developed it.
What could be the reason?Hi tigrisofgod,
This documentation is for VS2005, I'm not sure if this works for VS2013, you can try it:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa730846(v=vs.80).aspx
Deployment
Deploying your wizards to customer machines is usually no more complicated than copying the right set of files to the right locations. You
will need your .vsdir and .vsz files, along with the icon for the wizard, put in the right product folder. You will also have to copy all the HTML, JScript, template, and other files that make up your wizard to the target machine. You
can figure out the right location for the .vsdir, .vsz, and icon files by looking at the registry key values mentioned in
table 2. If you use the RELATIVE_PATH parameter to locate your wizard files, then these registry values can help you determine the target location for the wizard files. On the other hand, the ABSOLUTE_PATH
parameter works consistently on all machines. However, if you cannot put the wizard files at the exact same location on all machines, you may have to re-write your .vsz file during deployment.

UDI wizard is not applying TimeZone setting (MDT2013)
Hi All,
I am working on MDT2013 to create Windows7-64bit Image for OEM vendor. Note:- I am not using any SQL database.
I have customized the UDIWizard_Config.xml where it should ask for UIlanguage, Inputlocale and Timezone. I am calling this UDI wizard xml in Tasksequence after gathering locally here the problem is after completing the build its not applying the Timezone
setting in image.
Any one aware about this issue? why UDI wizard is not applying the Timezone setting in image?
I have attached the below UDI wizard XML. please answer and ask if you require any more details..

Error while deploying swing component to remote machine
Hi,
I have an unsolved query.I have created a simple Swing-frame using Jdeveloper.I have created a deployment profile which creates a jar file for the project.
On executing the jar file I get an error of the manifest file which requires to change the details of the manifest file.Kindly send me how to overcome this problem through the Jdeveloper IDE itself rather than changing it manually.
Thanks,
[email protected]Hi,
Are you trying to make an "exectable jar"? If so, on page 4 of the Deployment profile wizard, you will need to set the "Main Class" property to the full class name of the class in your project which contains the static main() method.

UDF fields missing in Deployment Manager User Metadata export wizzard
Hi,
When I try to export UDF-s using Deployment Manager, not all UDF-s appear in the Deployment Manager wizard step1 Search list for User Metadata type.
It seems that UDF Lookup type-s are not included.
Also, some text type UDF-s are missing as well, while the rest of the text type UDF-s are in the list.
I wonder if someone has encountered the issue? Is there any solution for this?
Thanks in advance.Hi,
I have tried your suggestion, exported sandbox, than published the sandbox. The UDF-s are included in the UserEO.xml.xml file, but are still cannot be retrieved in Deployment Manager wizard step1 Search list.
Even if I enter the exact name of the attribute (USR_UDF_DEPT_NO) it is not found.
The problem is even more severe:
- the UDF missing from the export, which is a lookup type field, cannot be mapped in a GTC connector.
- this UDF field is NOT CREATED in the DATABASE.
Error message:
<Error> <oracle.iam.configservice.impl> <BEA-000000> <The attribute DEPT_NO does not exist!>
<Error> <oracle.iam.ui.formservice.model.modeler.FormService> <BEA-000000> <Updating User field DEPT_NO with params....failed>
OIM version: 11.1.2.1.0
Can someone confirm if this a bug? Is there a workaround?
Best regards. -
Java Stored Procedure Deployment Problem with JDev 3.1.1.2
Dear JDeveloper Team:
I am having a problem deploying a test Java stored procedure to the database. In the Deployment Profile Wizard Connection tab, it displays no connection in the connection dropdown even though I have defined some connections that have been sucessfully connected to the database.
Please help.
Thanks,
TomTom,
Verify that your Connections are valid as follows:
Double Click on the Connections folder of JDeveloper Navigator.
This opens up the Connection Manager.
Make sure you have defined JDBC Connections.
Pick your connection of intrest and select Edit... and then press the Test button to test the conneciton.
If this is a valid JDBC connection, then it should appear later when you run the deployment wizard.

Can anyone help me on this???Hi,
Yes, I agree we need to update this paper or at least blog about a change in ADF Swing 10.1.3 that is needed for AM pooling support. Here is what you need to know:
In order to run ADF Swing in batch mode you must have a "Server side configuration". This configuration is used by server side of the application, i.e. by BC EJB running in oc4j context to do am pooling, which in this case is called "remote am pooling" .
This configuration is called AppModuleLocal1. Actually from ADF BC point of view it is local, hence it is used in the same jvm where ADF BC are running.
There two places where you can create this "Server side configuration" (named as AppModuleLocal1) in one of two places:
1) on the Remote tab of AM Editor when you shuttle EJB Session Bean
to the right.
2) on step 3 of "Create Business Components Deployment Profiles" wizard.
To create it:
At the bottom of "EJB Session Bean" panel see "Local Configurations" dropdown and the "New" button close to it. Click the button.
Let me know if this works

I have developed an application using ADF Swing and ADF BC, but he wanted to deploy it in a applications server. I have read that it stops this he should spread the BC like EJB, and then in the layer client to configure so that the DataBinding uses the EJB and not the I application module. I have been able to deploy the BC like EJB, but I cannot configure my client so that it consents to this EJB. Somebody can tell me that I need to make to get this.
Thank you.Hi,

Error during the deployment of the MONITORING role
hello all,
i installed lync 2013 server SQL server store "FQDN\rtc" , i want to install the monitoring so what i did is to create a new instance under lync topo builder->shared components->sql server store "FQDN\monitoring" for monitoting
and archiving.
when i publish the topology there is no error but when i try to deploy the wizard i have an error
"failed to find sql service. make sure that sql server service (FQDN\monitoring) is installed in machine"
more when i try to deploy the monitoring , this is what i have
any advice to fix it?
thanksThis error related to reporting services, you need to verify that reporting services is installed on these instances.
Secondly, you didn't need to create this instance manually then setup monitoring role. delete this instance from shared storage and try again to setup rule using different instance name and it will create automatic on shared storage.

Updating a deployed .jar
Hello,
I've setup a deployment profile in JDeveloper (10.1.3.0) to deploy a java project to a .jar.
I can right-click on the project and select deploy to jar file. This creates the jar file in
\mywork\myApplication\myProject\deploy\mySource.jar
I then wanted to deploy this using java web start and have successfully created a jnlp file using the deployment descriptor wizard in JDeveloper.
After running the html page and clicking on the link it runs the jar that is in the following location:
\mywork\myApplication\myProject\public_html\apps\mySource.jar
(I'm just deploying this locally on my machine at the moment but will deploy this on an application server).
This all works fine. I then made a change to the original java application in JDeveloper.
I can again right-click on the java project and choose deploy to jar file. This updates the file in
\mywork\myApplication\myProject\deploy\mySource.jar
However, when I run the html page from JDeveloper, the deployed copy of the jar file is not updated.
To workaround this I can deploy the file manually by copying the updated mySource.jar from \mywork\myApplication\myProject\deploy\mySource.jar
into \mywork\myApplication\myProject\public_html\apps\mySource.jar.
At the moment I'm doing this outside the JDeveloper IDE. Is there away to update the deployed version (\mywork\myApplication\myProject\public_html\apps\mySource.jar) within the JDeveloper IDE.
Thanks for your help.
AndrewAndrew,
You can point the deployment profile to directly create the jar file in the target directory on your serevr. Just go to the deployment profile and use the context menu to edit its settings.
The "deploy" directory is just the default setting configured in the project properties
