Deployment Server and Essbase Server on different boxes

Hi,We're currently testing Hyperion Essbase 7.1.2 and we were wondering if it was possible to have the Essbase (Analytic) Server on one machine and Deployment Server on a different one. At first sight, it seemed so, so we did just that.Now, we'd like to test our setup by signing on through the ESS command line prompt (on the Deployment Server machine) but seem to miss something since the connection ("signon") is refused. The funny thing is that on the machine on which the Essbase Server is installed, we've also installed the Administration Services: through the Administration Console, we can indeed connect to the Deployment Server and interact with it.So my first question is: is our setup possible (that is, having the Deployment and Essbase servers on distinct boxes)?If so, what is the meaning of all the parameters needed for the "signon" command of the ESS command line prompt?Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,A. I am running Essbase on one Windows server and EAS, EDS, ESS, and EIS on another. Did you create the Analytic Server in EDS and then Sync Security?

Yes, you can configure it that way and we have many customers with that setup.You have to login to the EDS console the first time using the 'default' admin username/password (system/password) and setup a username, with admin privileges, that also is on your Essbase server. Logout, then login with the 'real' username. Select the domain object ('essbase at the top of the tree'), right mouse click and add an analytic server. Type in the name of your Essbase server and it should be added (and you should be able to browse objects on the Essbase server). MDT Deployment share and SQL Share on different servers

I would like help to figure out how to deal with my MDT Deployment share being on a different server than my SQL Share. I am trying to use the MDT Database in MDT 2013 and SQL Server Express 2014. My deployment share is located on a Linux File Server share,
and my MDT Server and SQL Express Server are located on the same Windows Server 2012 VM.My Bootstrap.ini therefore looks like this:

Therefore, the problem is that during winPE Bootup, WinPE connects to the deploymentshare using the provided credentials just fine, and tries to process customsettings. However, I can map a network drive to the SQL Share as seen in the logs by the following
errors:
1.ERROR-Unable to map a network drive to \\SQLServer\Logs
2. ZTI Error opening SQL Connection:[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen(Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access is denied.
3.Unable to establish database connection using [CAPPS] properties.
In WinPE, as soon as I hot F8, and use net use \\SQLServer\Logs, the deployment works fine and the properties are read from the database during each section process..
Why is MDT Unable to map the \\SQLServer\Logs , and it requires the manual use of net use? Must I move the deployment share to the same server as my SQL Server Server? Thanks so much.

ODI and Essbase in different server to read the file error

Hi,
I have ODI and Essbase installed in different server.
I have created an interface to execute a calc script on top of an essbase cube. I kept the Caclscript.csc file in one folder in ODI server and provide the path
EXTRACTION_QUERY_FILE parameter is the path of the .csc file i placed in ODI server. it executed successfully to generate the extract file using the calc script in the specified path on Essbase server.
Now i want to read that file and load it to a relational table so map the network drive from ODI server to Essbase server where the file has been generated and provided the EXTRACT_DATA_FILE_IN_CALC_SCRIPT parameter as the Network drive path but ODI is unable to read the file.
any other option to read the file reside in essbase server and load it to relational table.
com.hyperion.odi.essbase.ODIEssbaseException: com.hyperion.odi.essbase.ODIEssbaseException: Error occured while reading the data file produced by calculation script.

Thank you for your help.
I have installed BO on A Box. Now i want to put File server on box B.
So i am going to CMC --> Servers --> InputfFileServer
and in there i am giving \\abc.vic.internal\E$\Reports\FileStore\Input ( abc.vic.internal is completely new box where i have created FileStore under Reports folder)
i have done this same thing for Output folder
\\abc.vic.internal\E$\Reports\FileStore\Outout.
\\abc.vic.internal\E$\Reports\FileStore\Outout\temp
after this i am restarting both the servers and after couple of minutes when i go in the both the severs its showing me an error saying "THE REQUESTED DIRECTORY DOES NOT EXIST.".
but with windows explorer i can map to this folder and they are sitting there.
Please see the attached screenshot to see my exact error.

     I was about to ask the same question about restoring a dc in a different hardware.
     A question arises in my mind: Is there no need any longer for third-party software (Acronis...) to restore a dc in a different hardware?.
    I am reading also about the backup and restore process in Exchange 2007 and it looks like the same thing, that it is not necessary any third-party tool to fully recover a Exchange machine, which is simply great, if I understand this rightly.

Lync 2010 server and UM role on different domains in different forests

I have a Lync 2010 environment running on domain A, with exchange 2010 UM also running in Domain A. We are in the process of migrating users and mailboxes from domain A to domain B. Once we reach our enterprise voice users with exchange UM enabled
we will need to install the exchange UM role on the exchange server in Domain B.
There is a 2-way trust relationship between domain A and domain B.
All the users from are running Lync on a PC located in Domain B, using Lync credentials from Domain A.
Are there any issues running Lync 2010 and Exchange UM from different domains in different forests? Is it as simple as creating a new UM DialPlan and UM IP Gateway to the domain A Lync FQDN?

Each UM forest must be configured to trust the forest in which Lync Server is deployed, and the forest in which Lync Server 2013 is deployed must be configured to trust each UM forest. If Exchange UM is installed in multiple forests, the Exchange
Server integration steps must be performed for each UM forest or you’ll have to specify the Lync Server domain.

can any one please tell me a solution to verify a Up and Running Database on Different Server other than the one where we run the unix perl script? The perl script should check if the database is running else it must exit.

The other best solution would be Enterprise Manager, load the EM on the other machine and install oracle intelligent agent on all the boxes where oracle is running and problem solved.
FTP is only a File Transfer Protocol, you can upload/download the files but cant execute them.
Apart from EM the best way is load oracle client and make connection to all the databases.
AND There are some free oracle monitoring software available I dont know much about them but one is NAGIO (if I am not wrong), try that if you want.
BTW whats the problem in monitoring the boxes from the same physical box, means just schedule a script using cron on the same physical box where oracle is to either make connection using SQLPLUS or check the processes using "ps" command and if there is anything wrong then send alert from that box only. In this way there is no need to maintain a central monitoring server.

Go to the computer where essbase server is installed and run the configurator and then where it asks for set up shared services and registry database connection, we give the schema we gave for the new shared services.
Is that it? Do I have to change the instance home or something?

Building new deployment server to replace current server 2003 deployment box

My current deployment server is running server 2003 with MDT 2010 Version: 5.1.1642.01 and Waik 6.1.7600.16385 (x86) I am in the process of building a server 2008 R2 x64 box which will be replacing the 2003 box. I am just trying to figure out the best,
smartest and easiest way to go about getting all of this set up. I want to use all the most up to date tools such as MDT 2013 and the latest version of Waik which i have already downloaded. Should i use the same deployment share or start over from scratch?
any recommendations tips and directions would be much appreciated.

For WAIK, it has changed to WADK(Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit), which contains all of the tools that you need to customize, assess, and deploy Windows operating systems to new computers.

Implementing e-Recruitment and HR on same/different server

Hi Friends,
We are in the process of implementing e-Recruitment for an Organisation with approx. size of 15,000 employees. This will also include Internal Job Postings.
I have the following questions in this respect:
1. Should E-Recruitment 6.0 and HR ECC 6.0 be implemented on the same server or seperate servers ? What are the pros and cons in both the
scenarios ??
2. Should the E-Recuitment portal server be different from the HR-ESS
server or shall it be implemented on top of ESS portal 7.0 ??
3. Which server scenario is recommended ?

1. Its not mandatory that ECC & E recruitment shd in the seperate servers. But because of few security reasons, they will be maintained seperately. For example: E recruitment will be accessed by the external people also, who want to apply for external job posting. So, there is a risk for ECC for exposure of data like employee master data, financial details etc., actually this risk is not direct, but by any chance that someone might hack to get the data - just to avoid the chances, thats all.
2. The Erecruitment & ESS can be in the same server for internal job posting
3. Better suggestion would be ECC & E rec would be in seperate servers.
