Deployment Workbench Adding Applications Using Task Sequence

I am trying to figure out how to add applications in Deployment Workbench. My biggest issue is what to put in the command line to get it to work. Someone else created folders with everything that would needed along with a batch file. Now I am trying to
figure out how to get that to work in Deployment Workbench. I am also trying to figure out how to then get it to work in Task Sequence since it is not currently working the way I have tried. Thanks.

Hi,
Here is a guidance for you:
Installing Applications with MDT.

You referred that something didn’t work for you, can you kindly provide the error message? If you were using any scripts you can also attach them.
Thank you.

  • Reasons for not deploying applications using Task Sequence

    Hi guys!
Could you provide me with some reasons why I shouldn't be using Task Sequences to deploy all of my applications? I like the idea that I can deploy multiple applications and packages at the same time, as well as being able to perform other tasks in the same
Task Sequence if needed. I also really like the progress bar window which shows end user the company and name of application being installed.
The SCCM Unleashed 2012 book mentions that while this is an available option it's not a good practice because "applications are meant to be state-based". Would someone be able to elaborate on that statement?
Is using Task Sequences for deploying applications generally a bad practice that I should try to avoid?

    Hi,
here is a description for state based:
Depending on the deployment purpose you have specified in the deployment type of an application, System Center 2012 Configuration Manager periodically checks that the state of the application is the same as its purpose. For example, if an
application’s deployment type is specified as Required, Configuration Manager reinstalls the application if it has been removed. Only one deployment type can be created per application and collection pair.
If you deploy your applications by using task sequence you bypass this feature. You will install the application. but after this initial installation there will be no further check for the app to be still present on device.
You can use task sequences, but should be aware of the features you bypass in this scenario.
    Regards

  • Deploying Applications Using Task Sequence

Hi, can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. I am trying to deploy some App-V 5.0 prerequisites using a task sequence but for whatever reason the TS just will not execute the install application group I created (screenshot below).
The OSD part of the TS installs correctly without any errors but the applications just don't get installed.

Basically I have created four applications. The App-V Client has two dependencies which are the .NET framework and Windows Powershell. The Powershell application has one dependency which the .NET framework application. Those are the only conditions set.
The App-V client application is only deployed to the collection and not the DP (Do I need to deploy them to the DP as well?) Yes, I do have network connectivity and the ConfigMgr Client agent was successfully installed.

Hi, it looks like the app has trouble starting up:
05/01/17 10:21:47 - ERROR: ID90506: NOT Deployed. ERROR returned from deploy service :
    com.inqmy.services.deploy.container.DeploymentException: Can't init application carmodeller. com.inqmy.services.servlets_jsp.server.WebApplicationException: ID17110: Error in starting application carmodeller.java.lang.NullPointerException
Did you have any errors on the compile of the code?
You also want to check if the app is deployed (if so you may want to remove it before re-deploying it)

  • Deploy Application During Task Sequence

Hello I have created about 10 packages to be part of our Windows 7 deployment using installshield. The packages install ok manually and through SCCM Client Center. However when I add them to my Task Sequence I get 1603 errors??? Is it a permissions issue.
Some of my packages work some don't?
    Here's the log error
Unmatched exit code 1603 is considered and execution failure.

Hi here is the log, any help appreciated. I think its permissions issue but not sure what I can do to remedy it?

  • SCCM 2012 - Maintenance Windows Issue with Update Deployment using Task Sequence

    Hi Guys,
I have a question for you!!
We use a Task Sequence to deploy "Patch Tuesday" security fix; we use the integrated step "Install Software Update" and the Task Sequence run during Maintenance Windows (1 hour).
    We notice that the time remaining is not recalculated on every software update installation occur (http://blogs.technet.com/b/csloyan/archive/2010/10/24/maintenance-window-calculations-explained.aspx);
    it's correct?
The formula indicated in the link above is not considered in this type of software update deployment (Install Software Update task sequence step)?
    Thanks a lot.
    David

    Any update?
Is the time remaining recalculated after each update is installed when using the Software Update Group directly as Torsten said?

  • Deploying AMD Catalyst software via task sequence

I am trying to have the AMD Catalyst software installed on all machines with an AMD video card. Right now I am using a WMI query in my task sequence on the video controller. When I image the machine, the AMD software does not install via task sequence along
    with the OS.
Here's the WMI query I'm using,
SELECT * FROM Win32_VideoController WHERE Name LIKE '%AMD%'
The application package itself works fine when I push it out to Software Centre after imaging.
The machine I currently have is a Dell 790, with an AMD Radeon HD 5450 card in it. I've tried changing the query to
SELECT * FROM Win32_VideoController WHERE Name LIKE '%AMD Radeon HD 5450%'
    That didn't work either
I am fairly new to doing this in SCCM, so any advice is appreciated!

This is what the log file shows,

  • How To: Deploying Windows & Office updates during task sequence

How do you guys apply windows and office updates during the task sequence?
Right now for Windows, I am offline servicing using my software deployment package.
For Office, I had the software deployment package, but can't figure out how to add it to my task sequence. All the options don't allow me to choose the package.
My end goal is to keep everything as up to date as possible, and if people image a computer and run Windows Update, they only have to download 10 or less updates, not 100+.

Is Office part of your image or do you deploy Office as part of your task sequence?
If office is part of your image, i'd recommend that you create a fully automated build and capture process using the MDT lite touch, and use a separate WSUS server to update the image with Windows , Office and other updates.
    It's pretty easy to setup.
Creating a Windows 8.1 reference image:
    http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9845755
If Office is not part of the image, you need to deploy the updates using Software Updates In SCCM as part of your Task Sequence.

    www.ronnipedersen.com/ and www.SCUG.dk/ | Twitter
    @ronnipedersen
It's a task sequence. I'm confused how Software Updates works with SCCM because I do not want to use it to update All Systems. I only want to update it to computers that get imaged which are Unknown Computers. We have WSUS to take care of updates.
If I deploy to Unknown Computers the updates in SCCM, once it joins the domain though to install all the other applications in the task sequence, will updates still go through now that it isn't a "Unknown ComputeR"?

  • MDT 2013 - Install Application in Task Sequence Stuck

I am running an application installation within my task sequence during my deployment.  One of the applications prompts a user response to click yes to continue. Otherwise the task is stuck at that step. It appears to be stuck during my Java 7U51

  • Install Applications in task sequence - fails if there is no source

I found an odd issue in SCCM 2012 SP1.  I have many applications that install perfectly when deployed.  There is no source for the application because it is a network based install, and needs to be.  If I try to add the application to the
"Install Application" method in a task sequence, it looks successful.  But then re-edit the task sequence and it will tell you there is an issue with the "Install Application" method.  The app will not install when you run the
task sequence either.  If you then add a content folder to the application, it works like a charm.
In the meantime, I am providing a dummy content location for these apps so I can get things running.  But has anyone run into this?  Seems so odd that task sequences don't like apps without content.

These are Autodesk application installs.  When the deployments are built, they are built to a network location and INI files are generated with paths in them.  In the past, I manually edited these files to use local relative pathing, so they
could be used as content, downloaded to the system, and executed locally by SMS.  I found issues with install Source locations though (yes, even with using SCCM's built in source control), that made me really want to change the INI's back to network locations,
so now there is no more need for content.
I will have to look into the DCR.

  • Cannot deploy "Hello World" application using SAP NW CE 7.1

    Hello,
I am having problems deploying a simple application to NW CE 7.1 (Welcome application
    from NWDS tutorial).
I try to deploy from the NWDS. When I am executing "Deploy new archive
and run" I am asked for user and password.
According to the documentation I give following credentials:
SAP NetWeaver Application Server (e.g. for deploying applications)
    username: Administrator
    password: <your master password>
However after typing that I get immediate error in NWDS.
ConnectionException, cause=[ERROR CODE DPL.DCAPI.1144] NamingException.Cannot get initial context.Reason: Exception during getInitialContext operation. Cannot establish connection to the remote server.
Then the browser opens with following URL: http://localhost:50100/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/Welcome/WelcomeAPP?SAPtestId=38 and the following stack trace is shown.
"Application error occurred during the request procession."
Details: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.core.DispatcherException: The requested deployable object 'local/Welcome' is not deployed on the server. Please check the used URL for typos.

  • Deploying Visual Basic Application using Acrobat Pro 9

    Hi,
We had to modify an existing Visual Basic 6 application to merge 2 pdf files and to rotate 1. We used Acrobat Professional 9 to do so. Now we want to deploy this application. After deployment, we always get a 'Run Time error 429: ActiveX component can't create object' only when we use the new functionalities. So I presume something is missing in the deployment package linked to the Acrobat Pro.
Can somebody tell me how to deploy a Vb application which uses some Acrbat references?
    Thanks,
    Peter

Looks like that your application can't find an installation of Adobe Acrobat.

  • Deploying standalone FPGA application using CVS-1457RT

    Hi all,
I want to make a stand alone real time Vision application using CVS-1457 RT and Gige vision camera. My present code looks like this:
    1. NI-CVS 1457RT.
    2. FPGA Target with 5 FIFo in and FIFO out for images
    3. Host Vi (with subvi's in it which also calls FPGA reference in/out)
Right now I am just trying to display a continous video using Gige vision camera(final goal is to also save the images maybe on the remote machine). I can do that on my computer. but my final goal is to just use CVS 1457 with a monitor and keyboard.
I can compile the code on my computer and it runs fine. But how can I deploy that program to CVS and use it. is there a way to do something like this.
I read few post and articles but couldnt understand the steps.
a). should I create an executable of host vi and save it on FPGA , if yes then how.?
b). when I compile the FPGA vi doest it means its automatically saved on FPGA?
    Please do let me know.
    thanks,

Ankit created this one as double post, but the discussion continued in the original place…

  • Deploying no java applications using Java Web Start

    Hi,
I am new to java web start. Is it possible to distribute non java applications using java web start. I have an APP which can run on a desktop in standalone mode. The app has jusy HTML and Java script files. Is it possible to package this app and deploying using java web start? I am assuming If it is possible, I can make updates to the packaged app in the web servers and the updates will be downloaded next time the app is used provided configurations are correct?
    thx

The app has jusy HTML and Java script files. Is it possible
to package this app and deploying using java web start? Not really. Resources for JWS need to be zipped,
while this HTML/JS app. will (I guess) not work from
inside the depths of a Jar (or Zip) archive.
Note that you can organise for those files to be
downloaded and expanded onto a known place
on the user's disk, by using an 'installer' element,
    but..
...I am assuming If it is possible, I can make updates to the
packaged app in the web servers and the updates ..installers are only called once, and do not 'update'.

  • Has anybody Successed to deploy the [TP4] Applications using AS ?

    Hi all
I deployed my [TP4] applications by Embaded OC4J bundled with Jdeveloper 11
and I installed Oracle Container OC4J 11 from metalink
but It did not work .
I want know what are the differences between
Oracle Countiner OC4J 11 ,Webcenter and SOA Suite ? and which one will work?
Has anybody actually deployed TP4 application using certain AS? and which one?
    regards
    Forakora

    Hi,
the OC4J instance that come with JDeveloper 11 will work to run and test ADF applications in Tp4. WebCenter is not a runtim container but a portal extension. SOA Suite was build for TP3 and can be made working in TP4 following the meta link documentation. General ADF Faces testing should be with OC4J11 in TP4
