Deprecated value for migration

Hi All,
I have to migrate a database of version Oracle 8.1.7.4.0 to Oracle 10gR2.
Can anyone is able to help me out for figuring out the Deprecated value which shoud be taken care from application prospective.For examplae if i will compile the procedure in new database environment it should not through any error related with datatype ...e.t.c.

first check whether your application is compatible to 10g or not. if so, you can try an upgrade of test machine and check application connectivity. once done, do the same in production. almost all datatypes are still there in 10g also(excpet few, for them refer to 10g doc)

start transaction AFAR for the company code as real run. That will recalculate all asset values and should solve the problem.
Alternative would be to go to AS02 and choose "edit -> recalculate values" from the system menu.

I m in the process of upgradation from 4.6C to ECC 6.0.
In Asset Accounting in 4.6C there is a facility of batch input thereby the user can replace the block cost centre by new one. As this facility is not available in ECC 6.0 so I have figured out all asset master in which the block centre are entered. And one by one replace the old cost centre by new one in asset master. When I ran the dep. "AFAB" there were no error. But for few assets the dep. shows positive value and cumulative dep. as zero. When I display the master of these assets and go into asset value of that asset then it give the message

Diagnosis
Depreciation terms were changed in depreciation area 01 since the last time depreciation was recalculated. The values for Ordinary deprec. that were saved in the database in fiscal year 2008 are therefore different from the newly calculated values by an amount of 102385.74-.
Procedure
Check if the newly calculated values are correct. If they are, then carry out a depreciation recalculation. You should be aware that if you recalculate depreciation, new values could arise for all open fiscal years, and these would then have to be posted to the general ledger by means of a depreciation posting run.
If, on the other hand, you want to keep the values that are saved in the database, you have to set the depreciation terms back to how they were at the time of the last depreciation recalculation.
To see a comparison of the old and new values, you can use the Display dep. calc. function in the asset value display or the Recalculate values function in the Asset Accounting menu."
Guru, New value is absolutely wrong as it reversed all the dep. charged upto previous period.
please tell me what I can do & how i colud check whether any body has changed the dep. term or not.

Yes - because there is no such list and those parameters change because R3load and lib_dbsl is continously developed; I'd check the corresponding notes.
Currently for Oracle I'd use
-loadprocedure fast -merge_bck
and for MSSQL I'd use
-loadprocedure fast -merge_bck -c 10000
plus
BCP_LOB=1 in the environment of the user running the R3load.
Also I'd set the logging to minimal and add traceflag 610 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd425070%28v=sql.100%29.aspx) - plus modifying DDLMSS.TPL to use page compression.

As per my knowledge MM posting periods can open current month and Previous month only. For the reason I proposed the solution as follows:

Closting Stock a/c                      Cr 4149599 + 1318596
Step 2.
Change the Material Price in MM through T.Code: MR21
( Posting will be allowed in current or previous months)
This makes our CO reports accurate.
Please suggest the better solution if it is possible in MM for adjusting the Material stock values for the last financial year.

Deprecated value

Hi All,
I am using oracle 11g rel 2(test machine) on windows 7.I messed up with spfile and getting the following warning
ORA-32004: obsolete or deprecated parameter(s) specified for RDBMS instance
ORACLE instance started.
When i checked the alert log i found i have enabled SQL_TRACE.Then i have set the value for SQL_TRACE to false with scope=both.
when i restarted the instance i am getting the same error.Please find the alert log.

Which table contains net book value for Assets created with AS91.

Which table contains net book value for Assets created with AS91.
I have a problem locating where the net book value is stored in SAP. Is it simply calculated and not stored in any one place? I am trying to predict how SAP will calculate the net book value for some assets we plan on converting, but my formula doesn't always work consistently and I have not idea what is going on. If it is stored in a table some place, can anyone please let me know!

It is not possible to directly get net book value of an any Table. You must migrate the gross book value (acquisition cost) and the accumulated depreciation. SAP will then calculate the NBV.

Qry return same value for a particular column for each row but not all time

We recently migrated to Oracle Database 10.2.0.3.0 from 9i. We were using a sql to populate a table and it had been running fine. After migration the same sql is fetching / population incorrect values, but not everytime. If we run the same sql again it gives a correct result.
Ex:
insert into a1 ( col1, col2, col3 )
select a.field1, b.field2, c.field
from tab1 a, tab2 b, tab3 c
where a.field = b.field
and b.field (+) = c.field
something like this. Let us assume it fetches 200 rows
But sometimes the col1 has the same value for all the 200 rows and col2, col3 has correct values. If we run the same sql next time, the col1 fetches the correct value and everything is correct.
Could someone help on the above issue.

I know it's difficult but can you put together a small test case for us to reproduce this behaviour? Did you contact Oracle Support?
Any special constructs used behind the scenes? Virtual private database? Views?Materialized Views? Anything else?

Utility for migrating Domain Definitions from Oracle Designer to JHeadstart

Hi,
I am currently involved in the migration of a pretty substantial application, developed with Oracle Designer’s Web Server Generator, to the Oracle ADF technology stack, using JHeadstart. You know I am a big fan of JHeadstart for a number of reasons, but this particular application is ideally suited for JHeadstart (or I should say the other way round of course). JHeadstart and ADF can do everything Web PL/SQL Toolkit and the Web Server Generator can do - and much, much more. So both end users and developers of this application stand to gain from the migration.
However , due to special technical limitations in the Web Server Generators and the inventive hand-crafted work-arounds, I can use the JHeadstart Designer Generator migration tool only for th 60% really simple maintenance modules. The other 40% is better off with building from scratch.
There is one piece of information in Oracle Designer that is quite useful to me - that is the Domain Definitions. The sets of allowable values that power the dropdownlists and radio groups is needed in JHeadstart’s Application Definition file, and the current edition of the JHeadstart Designer Generator does not allow the migration of Domains (only complete modules are supported).
In this article: http://technology.amis.nl/blog/?p=1352 is describe a way to migrate a selected set of domain definitions from Oracle Designer to JHeadstart. This approach works for all releases of JHeadstart - from the early beginnings back in 2002 to the latest 10.1.3 release.

Probably better to ask / confirm this on the Warehouse Builder forum, but ....
I believe that OWB will always indicate a default value for NotNull columns. It might also do this for value-constrained columns (one where you have set Allowable Values directly for the column or for a domain associated to the column). In a normal situation, most column definitions are NullAllowed, but if you're doing some simple test runs and have nothing but key columns and some rudimentary data columns then you might have inadvertantly caused this situation.

Planning changes to Authorizations for migration to V7

Hello Experts,
I researched the new authorization concept but I have 2 basic questions:
1) Do Bex reports need to have authorization variables defined on Authorization Relevant Infoobjects to force a selection within the set of authorized rows. From the PPTs I downloaded from SDN, it seems that this is no longer necessary and that the security engine will prevent the display of non authorized rows?
2) We intend to ugrade to v7 but continue to deploy V3.5 Infocubes under V7. Assuming we do not change the default and work with the new authorization concept, will the old, non upgraded infocubes be subject to the old concept authorization objects or will the new authorization concept apply to these cubes?

The answer to your first question is : If you need to restrict the value for the relevant Infoobject then you need to create a Authorization variable in the BEX Queries . If you have defined your Info object as Authorization relevant and if that object is a part of the query ( Not used to restirct by any values), then in your analysis authorization object you have to have that Infoobject with "*" otherwise it will give authorization error.
When you upgrade to 3.5 to BI 7 and still used the old transfer rules, update rules and old authorization functionality will still work. But it is recommended that you migrate it BI 7.

Check the Object S_RFC.

Error while reading UcdContext [trying to read / set application values for users]

I am trying to write a program to store user selected values on NW7.3 Portal using "User Content Directory". I can see and read some code snippets on how to set and read the context but I am getting one error after another.
The error message I am getting is
"com.sapportals.portal.pcd.gl.PcdGlContext:service:[email protected]entClassLoader@84507ed@alive incompatible with interface com.sapportals.portal.pcd.gl.IPcdContext:sap.com/[email protected]der@f46d103@alive ". Code snippet is as given below at the end of the message.
1) I tried different ways to have a lookup and always gave message as "look up not found" and for pcd:portal_content came up with above error.
2) Once I read the UCD context, I would like to store some values based on user selection and store them. User may change the values whenever they like and I will be using the values for other purposes in another application.
3) Has any one successful in setting and reading UCD Context in NW 7.3. Will it be possible to share such sample code as the code snippets at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73ehp1/helpdata/en/4a/8e1bce28e24dd8abd9f4de05e5587d/content.htm are not much of use unless I am able to read the UCD.

Check the ones highlighted in BOLD and compare them in your code. In your code when ur doing initial lookup you are not using the Correct class type cast for the returned lookup object!

NOT Getting Values for LOCATION...on MultiProvider REPORT

HI All,
I have a MultiProvider on 4 cubes.All these 4 cubes having object LOCATION. I can see data in all cubes for LOCATION. I am running a report on this MultiProvider.
Problem:
I am not getting Values for LOCATION. Why?
What I did:
I checked all location objects of all 4 cubes @ MultiProvider level .
I didn't use any Infoprovider in Qry designer sections.
Please suggest. What is the reason how to solve..

hello,
in the identification tab of the MP,make sure you have checked all four checkboxes across the 4 infoproviders.
then in Listcube T-Code, select your MP,display the records based on selection inputs and see if location is populated.
If the data is not coming in listcube, then it will not come in the Query too.
