What are pros and cons of depreciation engine??
Once we activate depreciation engine EA_FIN, deactivation is not possible, so we would like to know pros and cons before.

Actiavte New Depreciation Engine

Hi All,
I would like to activate to new depreciation engine for my client, for this i searched various notes but no where i found the steps for activating it.
Somewhere i got hint that i need to activate it by using T.code SFW5 for EA-FIN but i am clicking on 'Activate Changes' it is giving message that 'No Activation Necessary'.
Kindly suggest how i can do the same, what all steps i need to perform.
Requesting you to explain in detail because i never did this before.

Hi,
the new depr. engine is activated by activating EA-FIN.
Go to SFW5, mark the EA-FIN extension, tick the "planned status" indicator and tick "Activate changes", a backgorund job "SFW_ACTIVATE_SF0X" is started to activate the extension.
If it is activated the extension is highlighted yellow and the planned status says "Business function will remain switched on" in SFW5, there is a column in the right side of the screen displaying the activation date/time.
And if you are not sure if it is active or not, follow SAPNET note 965032 to check it using AW01.

How to maintain master data when new depreciation engine is activated?

Dear Experts,
We have 4.7 to be upgraded to ECC6.0 and new depreciation engine will be activated.
For the changes of dep. keys, do we have to create a new master for each asset or is it possible to maintain the current masters by changing depreciation keys in master?

I forgot to add that according to the law changes, we have to change depreciation keys.
So we are going to use new depreciation engine with changed depreciation keys.
Is it still possible to keep current masters without creating new ones?

Font engine issues in non-admin account

I have an account with administrator rights (a privileged, or -pr account) for installing software and a non-privilged account for everyday use, on my Windows XP computer. I am having the following font issues with Illustrator CS3. When using the non-pr account, a number of fonts are unavailable, e.g. <Symbol> (Adobe type 1) and <Symbol> (Open Type). Also, names for available fonts are not forced to display in English, despite my having checked the box for EDIT>PREFERENCES>TYPE_Show_Font_Names_in_English. For example, the name of the Symbol_Italic font is displayed in Greek letters. When I log on as the -pr user, the font engine works fine. Both Symbol fonts are available, and all font names are displayed in English. The font engine in InDesign CS3 works fine from either account, so this seems to be a bug in Illustrator.

Did some research on this the other day, to see if i could get Software Update to run in the middle of the night like Windows can do.
Software Update requires Root powers, so when you give it your Admin Password your opening a sudo window of 5 minutes for it to complete it's task.
Software Update doesn't check for updates while in Standard User becuase Standard Users supposedly can't do anything about it anyway and it would be a obvious distraction. "Mommy the computer....!!!"
Apple should have a option in Software update preferences to let certain Standard Users know a Software Update is ready just for the purpose your explaining. I run in Standard as well.
I ran some Software Update commands via the Terminal for a launchd just to see what I could do.
Apprantly one can DOWNLOAD updates automatically with launchd in Admin, but not install them because of the need for sudo.
I just misssed a perfect opoortunity (todays update) to run a launchd to do automatic downloads of Software update, then see how to go about installing them afterwards. So fsck me, I'll have to wait now. (unless i use my other machine! ahhh!!)
Anyway the program you want is this little gem: Lingon
it's on Sourceforge (grab the image)
Ok so that takes care of the Software update downloads (man softwareupdate in Terminal for commands)
/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --download --all
Will do the automatic downloads, now it's just a script away to let you know ( a nice pop up window) that you have something in your folder where the Software Update just downloaded into.
That's the next question is where that is and how to run it.

Can anyone suggest why Dev Studio can't see the server engine

We have NW2004s/SP08 installed. The server J2EE engine runs fine and one can log into the server and succssfully deploy jar's directly to it.
We also have Dev Studio installed on a desktop and it works fine. We have our J2EE preferences set using the actual IP address of the server J2EE engine and port number 3061. (We can ping this IP address successfully.)
When we try to do a Deploy/Run from Dev Studio and monitor this attempt on the server side, we can see Dev Studio trying to connect.
But it doesn't connect. In Dev Studio, we just get a message saying "sdmhost empty or unknown".
What's missing in our config? It was set up for us by externals no longer here. Since we can successfully ping the IP of the server from the PC, and since we can see DevStudio trying to connect, it can't be a network connectivity problem.
Thanks for any suggestions as to where to look/what to do.

I assume that because the client is now asking me for the SDM password, your solution is correct. (It didn't ask me for a password before - I just got the error message.)
So I've tagged your reply for 10, even though I don't know the password so can't completely confirm yet.
I'll cycle back and confirm once I have the password.

Error in recalculation of Depreciation Ecc6

Dear All,
We have recently upgraded our test system to Ecc6 with support pack
SAPKGPAD06.
As suggested by Nathan Genez on SDN T code AFAR - Recalculate Values was
executed for recalculation of Depreciation values.
It has resulted in 19 assets in error. When I display any of the assets
in change mode (AS02)the system gives the following message "SYST: You
cannot change the depreciation periods". On analyzing this we found that
the useful life of the asset was changed in year 1999 from 17 yrs to 18
yrs.
Now when we try to correct this value in T code As02 the system d'snt
allows to do it.
Pl suggest the remedial measures.
Depreciation is running fine on Version 4.7 on our production server.

Nikon RAW rendering engine (SDK) missing after an Archive and Install.

I apologize if this is not the correct place to post this, but I could not find a relevant thread.
I am a Nikon shooter and use Expression Media 2 to catalog all of my images. I use it because it is the only app I have found that retains the file settings that the camera embeds. For example I could set my camera (a D300 BTW) to shoot in B&W and when it is placed in EM2 it retains the B&W characteristics. Other apps will render the very same image in color, ignoring what the Nikon D300 has placed in the file.
I don't know why EM2 is the only app I have found that does that, but it does.
Here is my problem:
I'm on an Intel iMac. I had to do an "Archive and Install" and I have lost the Nikon RAW preview (it was ok before). When I select "Manufacturer" in the rendering prefs I now only get a small thumbnail view. The Apple engine works fine but it's slower than the Nikon engine and does not keep the file parameters.
I hope that is clear.
Can you help me get the "Manufacturer" engine working again?
I checked in the "CoreServices" folder in my previous systems folder but it doesn't seem to be there. Am I looking in the right place? I even did a search with no results.
I was advised to post in this Discussions Forum from an Apple Tech.

Writeup depreciation asset capitalised from AUC

There are couple of AUC's capitalised and depreciation carried out.
But the AUC's wrongly capitalised.
Now I need to writeup the depreciation and decapitalise the asset.
The process I tried.
I used t.code ABZU with transaction type "700" then I am getting the error "You cannot post write-ups", but When I am using other asset which is not created from AUC I am not facing this error and Accumulated dep is debited and Depreciation is credited
Then I made setting and used t.code ABZU with transaction typr "400" then dep value is capitalised to main asset i.e. the entry generating was
Asset Account debited
Decprecation account credited
With about Depreciation balance is fine when I look FS10N, But my Accumulated depreciation balance account still holding the balance, now how to reverse the Accumulated Dep account is netted of.
Please let me know what is the configuration setting I need to carry so that system should generate
Accumulated dep Account debited and
Depreciation account is credited

if the depreciaiton has been calculated just for open year, you should enter depreciation key 0000.

Flicker appears solely the fault of Premiere Pro CC 2014.2. Tested on different computers. Used as nVidia Quadro and GeForce GTX770. Drivers were different. Everywhere equally evident flicker. Incidentally, it defies logic and may occur at different film pieces. If re-render that flicker may occur on another spot in the video.
It can occur even in the parts without filters !!! But no all time.
ver 2014.2 - win 7 - intel i7-4770 - gtx 770 - flicker!
ver 2014.2 - win 7 - intel i7-4770 - Intel HD Graphics 4600 - flicker!

Have you tried with the Mercury Playback Engine set to "Software Only?" More info please: FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

Is this a brand new project or one you updated from an earlier version? What kind of footage are you exporting? Which preset are you using?
When waiting for fixes this bug?
If I can repeat the case here with the same hardware, GPU, and drivers, that would be easier to fix the bug. Currently, I cannot recreate the bug. If you or anyone else can provide me with steps to recreate the bug, that would help immensely. It sounds like this will be the difficult thing.

YOSEMETI-SEARCH DOSEN'T WORK PROPERLY

Example: COMMAND F- Type a key word in a folder that I know the word is in a file name and it doesn't "find" it. Tried the little drop down criteria menus of "Filename matches: ; Name: Filename or Everything.
Criteria should always be available which it is not or I can't find it.
Very annoying. The previous operating systems search engines worked fine.

Rebuild the Spotlight index. If you try to search now, there will be an indication that indexing is in progress.

Changing useful life of an asset

Hi All,
Client wants to change the asset's useful life from 4 years to 3 years. Also previous depreciations should not get affected due to this. The new recalculated value of the asset should be spread over the remaining useful life and depreciation amount should also be recalculated accordingly. Do we have such functionality in SAP version ECC4.6?? or we need to post the depreciation manually going forward?? I have tried smoothing method but this is also not helping me out.
Please advice if we can do something in it.

Mail Sender Adapter with IMAPS

Hi,
I had a Mail Sender Adapter running fine with imap. Our Email Server has changed now to secure protocol. Therefore I need to use the Mail Sender Adapter with IMAPS. If I use imaps://<mailserver>:993 in the channel configuration the Mail Adapter aborts with error "not initialized; mail agent null" and in the default trace it says "failed to initialize the channel: java.io.IOException: illegal protocol for XMBIMAPInitiator: imaps#". If I configure the Mail Adapter with imap://<mailserver>:993 the Mail Adapter starts and says "running", but it does not poll the postbox. In the security.log file there is a warning about untrusted certificates "com.sap.security.core.server.https.SecureConnectionFactory#Plain###Attempting to create outgoing ssl connection without trusted certificates#". I did already import the (CA) Certifcate of the mailserver with key storage service of J2EE Engine in the Trusted area and I configured the J2EE Engine for using SSL (the https access to the J2EE Engine works fine).
What is still missing in XI 3.0 (SP12)? I can access the postbox securely with e.g. Thunderbird using port 993.
Has anyone an idea or had already this issue?

The Mail sender --IMAPS , did it solve your issue because i fcae the same kind of Error in Communication Channel :

-Login Credentials is correct.
-Defualt XI Paramters are correct
-Mail Server is the right one
-Tried in command prompt , N:/telnet NZxxx.dznz.corp.net 143 , but i get response : Could not open connection to the host, on port 143 .Connection Failed

Regarding the JDBC Communication Channel error

We installed one non-central adapter engine for our xi server. But when configuring jdbc channels with this non-central adapter engine, the jdbc channel not picking data from tables, instead it is always showing message "Processing Started". All the channels configured with central adapter engine are working fine. Basis person is working on this problem for 10 days, he didn't find any solution. Pls help us.
Note:-when we start the channel configured with non-central adapte engine, the channel is automatically getting lock in visual admin. Even though we will release the lock manually, after starting once again it is getting locked again.

Games in Widescreen Mode on 24" iMac (Doom 3 etc)?

Hi,
I'm struggling to get some games to play in widescreen on my iMac 24".
In Doom 3 for example i get two black lines down the edge but Quake 4 (which uses the same engine) is fine.
I read on the net that if i hold the command key down when launching Doom you get extra screen options and this does indeed give me a full picture but only 800 x 640 according to the in game menu.
On the plus side though all my games scream along nicley and appear to have good frame rates with Doom 3 playing and looking splendid!
If anyones thinking of a 24" iMac please go for the 7600gt upgrade, it's really worth it, my games look as good as they did on my Mac Pro with the X1900XT installed!

it's me again, since that doesn't got out of my head.
Did some searching and found one guy in another forum, that stated that, when you use the Option key and change the resolution to full than the in-game-menu does indeed show 800x640 (or whatever minimum) but the game should use the high resolution.
Worth trying.
