Depreciation Run executed for a period but no posting found

Dear Experts,
I have checked a few of the FA in the Fixed Asset Master, and confirmed that they have not been depreciation run yet for period "2009-02". My current period is set to "2009-02" as well.
But when I tried to run depreciation run for "2009-02", I always get no posting.
What could have cause this problem?

Hi Chinho,
1, please make sure there is APC value for the asset. Means:
acquisition was created for the asset. You can check it from FA master data->document tab
Or the asset was imported into system with a APC value.
2, If the acquisition/import was done before current fiscal year, please make sure 'fiscal year change' to current fiscal year was done.

Repeat run you can do only for the last depreciation period. For the asset which you are tryin to post depreciation from July to Jan, please check the asset value date which you have given while posting the transactions or in the asset master.
If the asset value date is in July, then deprecaition from July - Jan will get posted in the current month depreciation in total. You will not be able to post depreciation individually month wise using AFAB.

Can we run KSU5 - Assessment Cycle execute for previous periods

Dear Gurus,
Can we run KSU5 for previous periods. Means I have not ran from April 2008 onwards. Can I run right for all periods. Any inconsistencies arises for running the KSU5.

Hi Srinivas,
You can run the Cycle for previous periods also using KISR transaction code. Here, you can select the processing period (previous period) and posting period (current period) and the Cycle and the Segments.
Note: If you want the postings to happen in the same corresponding processing periods, you need to check those periods to be open and consider other inconsistencies also.

Why you want to post the depreciation for future period?
Is the future fiscal year in open or is the posting period open for that? If no, please open that period with AJRW T code if you want to post the depreciation for future period but it is not recommendable.
Check the posting period once again because the given posting period belongs to future year? So please do re-chk and give correct period according to your current fiscal year.
You can get your fiscal year details and assignment of fiscal year variant to the co,code details in OB29 and OB37 t codes respectfully.

Run Forecast for previuse period

We have certain materials with MRP type VM and want to run forecast first The Period Indicator is M (month).
When user press the run Forecast button, a pop up screen periods appears and you should select a current period 8.2007 or next 9.2007 to run a forecast but for testing AND Due to business requirements, we upload consumption and open PO till 31-5 so we need to run forecast for 6.2007 period to compare values with legacy system before going life.

Depreciation error - Unplanned posting run allow for future period

Dear ,
Need urgent advice for depreciation error happen in our production system.
FYI, our fiscal year variant 2013 = Feb 2012 - Jan 2013 ( We are now at month-end close for Pr 1 2013 ).And fiscal year close 2012 AJAB and Carry forward ARJW have successfully run for new FY 2013.
In short, in our asset accounting user was accidentally run unplannned depreciation for future period 12/2013 of one particular asset, while we are now in Pr 1/2013. And, Pr12/2013 is open for asset posting.However, no FI posting posted into the system.
Just a curiosity as to why system allow user to run unplanned depreciation for future posting without giving an error message to follow the posting cycle.
The impact/error of above unplanned depreciation run:
User is not allowed to execute AFAB depreciation run for Pr 1/2013. Even worst, in the AFAB program shows from Pr 1/2013 - 12/2013 is already posted when we do depreciation test run. We can't perform any planned,repeat,restart for Pr1/2013.
Because of only one asset had accidentally run for Pr12/2013, all of our asset (96,773 asset) cannot proceed with depreciation run for Pr 1/2013 in the new fiscal year.
This is high priority as it will impact the entire depreciation run for 12 month of our company.
Your early reply on this issue is greatly appreciated.

FYI, the asset posting actually has been executed but no document was posted as there's no value.
I've check the 2 tables below:
ANLC - No numbers of run for any period in FY2013
ANLP - No depreciation run was posted in FY13 (all periods).
Is there anyway for us to do normal planned run for Pr 1/2013? As i understand SAP has no function to perform reversal depreciation run in AFAB. How
With regard to the posting period 12/2013 that is open for user, I already highlighted this to the respective custodian.

you will find the depreciation calculated for which period and document number from TABA Table.
go to SE16
enter TABA and execute
than provide company code and year than execute to see the result.

Depreciation is executed in th background but no postings into FI

Dear Experts
I am new to configuring Assets and would like to check what our transfer dates should be. Our year end is 31/12/07 (so last closed fiscal year and period is 2006/12), we would like to transfer all legacy data upto that date onto SAP. I have used 1/8/07 as the transfer date is this right?
Also I have managed to manually create some test legacy assets, on the asset explorer it is all OK and shows me the planned depreciation for each period. When I do a test depreciation run for period 1, the test is successful. I repeat the run in the background and a job is created, but no depreciation is posted against the asset.
I look in SM37 to view the job log and one of the messages says 'Only period 000 can be posted in the repeat run'.
Am I doing something wrong, any advice is appreciated.

Generally speaking Depreciation Run is executed at company code level and not differentiated at asset level ie. I mean we cannot depreciate some assets in a company code and leave other assets. Due to this in AFAB, when we run without test run, system expects us to post depreciation for all assets in the company code.
For negative book values check setting for Depreciation Areas:
T Code OADB - NBV should be - option should be Only Positive Values or Zero Allowed
After the above change, do a test cycle to ensure it works.

Can't Run AFAB - Posting run requested for future period

While taking depreciation run for company code in AFAB system is generating the error message "Posting run for future period requested (check entry)" SAP error AA697
Diagnosis
There was a check of your entries in the company code and posting period fields for the current system date. The result of this check is that you requested a posting run for company code xxxx for a future fiscal period.
Please help me, cause I must close the period.

Check Table TABA, whats your last posted period for depreciation
If you are executing depreciation for last period + 1, then this error is not justified
If you are doing it for last period + 2, then its justified

Depreciation run after adjustment in period 14,2007

Hi,
My user has posted adjustment to an asset in period 14. All other periods are closed. Period 13 is already closed and cannot be opened again. And actually, we have run depreciation in period 13.
However, when we want to run depreciation in period 14, system prompt error message and ask to restart run depreciation in period 13.
I am in version ECC5.0.
Now I am confused as the depreciation run is automatically released and therefore, we cannot release the batch in foreground and change the period manually.
How can I resolve this problem?

Hi Nik,
we solved a similar problem as follows:
1.) Open period 13 again
2.) Run depreciation with "restart" in period 13
3.) Cancel FI document in period 13
4.) Close period 13
5.) Post FI document in period 14 manually

Stock report for a period (based on posting date)

We have a requirement as under:
1) We want a report for a period say from 01.04.2011 to 30.09.2011 (closed period for both MM and FI postings). Report is being taken on a later date say 01.12.2011.
2) The report should say the status of stock as of 30.09.2011 only even of being taken in the month of December
3) I tried to take the desired report through MB5B for the period 30.09.2011 to 30.09.2011 (selection date fields) on 20th december, 2011 and noticed that if same report with the same selection criteria is taken at two different times, output data is not the same whereas MM and FI posting periods are already closed.
Can anybody suggest alternative SAP standard report where output will remain the same if report with same selection criteria is taken at different intervals ELSE in case of change we should be able to see the documents posted in between if back dated entries have been posted after opening MM /FI period.

user starts transaction MB5B for a very large number of materials or for all materials in a plant
During the runtime of transaction MB5B, goods movements are posted in parallel:
- The results of transaction MB5B are incorrect.
- Each run of transaction MB5B returns different results for the same combination of "material + plant".
Example: Transaction MB5B should process 100 materials with 10,000 MM documents each. The system takes approximately 1 second to read the material master data and it takes approximately 1 hour to read the MM and FI documents. A goods movement for a material to be processed is posted approximately 10 minutes after you start transaction MB5B. The stock for this material before this posting has already been determined. The new MM document is also read, however. The stock read before the posting is used as the basis for calculating the stocks for the start and end date.
Even for an old and closed period, MB5B starts today and calculates backwards any movement to finally get the stock for the time your specified in your selection.
2)
The SAP standard release does not include a solution
so you have to understand that there is no real alternative transaction in SAP
3) and then they provide a large section with a workaround that can be developed by an experienced programmer within 3 to 5 days.
So how shall anyone here be able to tell you an alternative report?
if someone does, then it is an owndeveloped z-report which is not available in your sap system.
if you know that people want lookup period closing stocks at any time in future, then either schedule MB52 at month end and store the list somewhere (and do not allow backposting)
or have an Abaper create a stock report based on the history tables MARDH, MCHBH, MBEWH etc.
And even here you may encounter an issue at some day, if you start archving special stocks or material masters, because then the stock figures from the historic tables are gone and you cannot rebuilt a reliable stock report .

Posting depreciation run (AFAB) for profit center

I have 3 plants and each plant is created as separate profit center.
All plants want to run and post depreciation independently. So i wanted to know if AFAB (depreciation posting) can be executed profit center-wise.
Please advice

There are no SAP notes.
Because we are looking something beyond the original design of the system.
You can post the depreciation per company code, but not for profit center. In AFAB, you cannot get profit center selection screen.
As a statistical object, finally your profit center gets the postings, which you can view them in the report.
But, if you want to run AFAB based on profit center selection criteria, then, it is NOT possible. There is NO SAP notes for that.

Error while running query for psoting period as varaible

I am running a query and posting period is variable single entry mandatory and when I run the query it gives me this error.
Variable 0I_PCURR could not be replaced.

Hi KM,
When you want to use a fiscal period, you need to say whick fiscal variant you'll be using.
This fiscal variant, depends on the company code you are using.
You might find out with some FI person how many fiscal variants are using at your company. If it's only one (or at least only one applies for this query), add 0FISCVARNT infoobject in your query and select the fiscal variant you were told.
But, as you are using a BC variable, maybe this variable needs to use 0comp_code infoobject to determine automatically the fiscal variant.
So,
1. try selecting a fiscal variant in filters.
2. try adding 0comp_code to your query.
