Dequeue from JMS Queue 10 at a time and process it.

Hi,
I have created a JMS queue in weblogic.
Say i enqueue 1000 records in the queue at one go.
Now, i want a bpel process to dequue from it and process it.
However as per my requirement i want at a time 10 instances being active at a time i.e. 10 records from the queue are being processed at a time.
Once any one of them finishes, the other will pick up the message.
1 BPEL instance will process only 1 record from Q at a time
Please let me know how to achieve this.

You need to understand here that it is adapter which deques the message from queue and it will deliver it to BPEL for processing which is an async process. So adapter will keep dequeing messages and keep publishing it to BPEL irrespective of whether BPEL process has completed processing.
You may need to tweak the adapter configuration here. First of all create the synchronous BPEL composite so that both adapter and BPEL work in same transaction -

You may control the number of threads for inbound JMS adapter using binding property "adapter.jms.receive.threads" in composite.xml

Sure others will have some other ideas, but here's what I typically do to get the XML from a JMS queue. Inside the Global Automatic that pops the messages off the queue you'd have logic similar to this:
artifactInfoNodes as Any[]
xmlObject as Fuego.Xml.XMLObject = XMLObject()
load xmlObject using xmlText = message.textValue
. . . Once you have this, it's a matter of deciding what you want to do with the message. Most times you'll parse the XML (using XPATH statemens), set argument variables and create a work item instance.

Receving Value Object from JMS queue

I want to receive a Value Object from JMS Queue. I am able to send Value object to JMS queue successfully using "Send Message to Queue". However, Receive message from Queue is not working as expected and throwing below error:

As far as i know, JMS Object Messages is not supported by XI JMS adapter.
you need to have the JMS provider to transform the message to bytes messages.
(Refer to SAP note 856346)

Fetching from JMS Queue

Dear Experts,
I have the necessity to fetch messages from a JMS queue sequentially, not in a multithreading way. There is a configuration that allow me to do this ? I explain better, if I have 3 messages in a JMS queue, I should need that only when my proxy services has terminated processing of first message the second message in queue can be fetched and processed and so on.

You have to associate the proxy service with a work manager that has a max thread constraint of 1 , through the dispatch policy configuration.
Also set messages maximum on the connection factory used to connect to the queue to 1. This will ensure messages are still processed in order when it is redelivered.
You use UOO to parallelize message processing across different groups while maintaining sequencing within the group. And this has to be set by the sender of the message. I believe you are concerned about sequential processing by the receiver.

Data retrieval from JMS queue using single SOA composite in a clustered env

Hi,
I have following situation:
1) A requester SOA composite (Composite1)is reading data from a File
2) Mediator is routing data received from Composite1 and writing in a JMS queue.
3) A provider composite (Composite2) is reading from the JMS queue.
Both Composite1 and Composite2 is deployed in a clustered environment.
Problem is Composite2 is not able to read data sequentially from JMS Queue sometime (for example out of 30000 transactions its failing once). Here it's a queue and only one producer and only one consumer is there.
What may cause this issue? I thought a single producer and single consumer on a queue will guarantee FIFO retrieval . Could you please advise where may be the gap?

I have JMS Proxy which gets invoked when i send message to JMs Queue. JMS Proxy then calls business service.
 
 
Business Service has two functions. One is taking String as input and one is taking Serializable Object as Input.

How to read Java Object message from JMS Queue using JMS Adapter .

Dear All,
In my scenario i have to read a java object message from JMS Queue . I tried by using the JMS Adaper ,but i am not getting any Payload . Can any one tell me is there any special settings for JMS Adapter to read the Java Object message .
I am able to read the Message successfully thru JMS Adapter but in SXMB_MONI it is not showing any payload .
I also went in Message monitoring but i am getting this type of message in Sender JMS Adapter in Audit Log.
JMS Message ID XXXXX Message Type Null unknown.Payload can not be read and will be empty.
JMS Message ID XXXXX Payload Empty can not read.

Problems enqueuing a CLOB on JMS_TEXT queue and dequeue from JMS

Hi, I have a PL/SQL procedure that enqueues in a JMS_TEXT queue a CLOB, and a MDB in J2EE reading messages from that queue. The problem is that text from dequeued messages appears as null in java, but if I send messages to the queue using Varchar2 I get the correct message. What's wrong?? Thanks.

I encountered the same problem. The fix was to use a more recent aqapi13.jar:
if last modification date is 22th April 2002, then it does not read CLOB content.
if last modification date is 14th October 2004, then it does read CLOB content.
Note I am using Oracle 9i Release 2.

OC4J 9.0.4: Problem receiving message from JMS queue

I've created an application which puts XML files in a JMS queue and try to get it out again. The enqueing (sending) is no problem, but when I dequeue from the same queue I receive nothing and if I don't specify a wait time the programs hangs.
If I create a QueueBrowser I can see there are messages in the queue.
Can someone tell me what I do wrong?

Did you implement javax.jms.MessageListener and the method onMessage(Message)?
If you use onMessage() as wel as receive (or receiveNoWait() or receive(long)), the onMessage() can be called, while the main thread is blocking on a synchronous receive, so make sure you use only one of the two methods: onMessage() or receive.
Receive() blocks your thread until a message is published. So your program 'hangs' by design. Usually this is used when your program is waiting for a particular message. Otherwise use onMessage().
ReceiveNoWait() checks if something is in the queue at that very moment, so if nothing is there (yet), the main thread continues.

Weblogic 10.3 Not Removing Expired Messages from JMS Queues

Dear All,
We have an application that is running on Weblogic 10.3.
This application (let us call this application Y) receives messages on a JMS queue. These messages are placed on the queue by another application (let us call this application X). We would like to have these messages expire within a certain amount of time (i.e. 90000 ms) if they are not consumed.
Now when application X places the messages onto the queue for application Y to consume, the JMS producer sets the time to live to 90000 ms. We can see that expiration time has been set appropriately in the weblogic console. If a message sits on the queue for longer than 90000 ms the state string of the message is changed to "receive expired". What we don't understand is why the expired messages still end up being consumed from the queue.
We understand that Weblogic is supposed to have an 'Active Message Expiration' thread that will remove expired messages from the queue. The Expiration Scan Interval for the JMS Server is set to 30 (seconds).
Can anyone tell us why our expired messages don't seem to be deleted from the queues?

We have set up both the active expiration scan and the message expiration policy. The active expiration scan is set for every 30 seconds. The message expiration policy is set to "discard". However, the expired messages are still being consumed. Is it possible we are doing something wrong? See a portion of our configuration files below.

Dequeue from Advanced Queue

Hi All,
I have used the DBMS_AQ package provided dequeue functionality for dequeuing msgs from my advanced queue. Now there is a job which dequeue the items from this queue and sends out email. Now what is happening is the job picks up an item from the advanced queue for dequeuing and sends out email, but the item which is picked up still remains in the queue and is not dequeued. As the job runs every minute and polls the queue, it again picks up the same queue item and sends the email. This process repeats for 5-6 times and then the queue message expires. My requirement is that, the job should dequeue the item from the queue and just send email once. Please can anyone suggest what could be the solution to this problem?

10g is not a version number it is a marketing label that applies equally to 10.1.0.2 and 10.2.0.4 and a lot of versions in between.

Read message synchronously from JMS queue using OSB

Hi,
Is it possible to read message from the JMS queue using OSB based on the request invocation. I know messages can be read from the queue but it will be polling based.
The requirement is to have an OSB proxy service (HTTP service ) an an interface to the client application. Client application invokes the proxy service and the proxy service need to read message from the JMS queue and provide the message as response to the client.
Let me know if there are any pointers.

I spent some time trying to do this and apart from creating custom database tables etc. I was not able to achieve this.
We wanted to use in memory JMS queues in our situation.
In the end we developed a Java Web Service which preformed the on-demand read from the queue (using a particular message selector)
This is working for us without a problem
