Derby Server for WLS
Hi,
When ever i start an OSB server, along with OSB server comingup, why does a "Derby server for WLS example server" starts at port 1527?
This is confusing me....! I havent initiated Derver server, then why does it starts....?
Thanks
Kane

Hi,
Derby server is used for storing OSB Reports. you can stop it by unselecting evaluation database while deployment of OSB Server.

JDeveloper 12c "Derby Server for WLS Examples Server" prompt
Hello,
I've been playing around with the new JDeveloper 12c, and I've noticed that every time I start up the integrated weblogic 12c server (on Windows), this "Derby Server for WLS Example Server" command prompt opens.
Is there any way to stop this from happening? or is it a required component?
Thanks,
Evan GilbertAt the moment it's a needed component. There was a discussion if there is a way to disable this, but from what I remember you currently have to have a full DB (for production) or the derby server for the embedded wls to run.

Authentication problem by external ldap server for WLS 7.0
Hi all,
I have configured iPlanet directory Server to serve as authentication security
provider for WLS 7.0.While doing so I have created a Test security realm and made
it as default.I have also configured the other default settings for the remaining
security providers for the realm.
Now, while I start the WLS with the default username and password, boot-error
comes as given below. As a matter of fact I have also created groups with relevant
username and pwd in the ldap server as specified bu the Bea documentation.
I have tried to remove the problem since last 4 days but all in fiasco.
If anybody has any pointer to the problem - it will be a great help.

Regards,
RitwikThanks Vijay - it has worked by creating the Administrator group in LDAP but Weblogic
documentation also states the creation of any group in Ldap server with the boot
username and pwd and then adding the group in the admin role of WLS7.0 - but this
did not work.
If there is any info regarding the same - pl. do let me know

Ritwik,
I think WebLogic 7 requires a group called "Administrators" in the LDAP
server
and requires an user to be added to that group. I have this working in
one of
my projects. The group really doesnt need to be an LDAP administrative
group.
Can you provide any additional information. I might be able to help since
I got
this working only a coupla days back.

Hi,
I was trying to download service pack 3 for WLS 6.1 but could not find
the
place.
Do I need to purchase the support in order to download the service pack?
I
registered online already as a normal user.
Where is the link if anyone can get free download for the service pack 3

Memory settings for WLS server
Hi
In my production server for weblogic the memory settings is set to
MEM_ARGS=-Xms64m -Xmx64m
I have a 4GB of RAM in my server,
If I increase the MEM_ARGS parm will it give a better performance.?
what will be a better number to go with instead of 64M
Please advise
Thanks
DNRob
Thanks for the answer ,
I dont have much applications running on this PC other than SQL server.
SQL server is configured to take a mximum of 2GB I believe.
You suggest to change the minimum and maximum to 512 right?
what does the initial part(-XX:MaxPermSize=128m ) of the following line means?
MEM_ARGS="-XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xms512m -Xmx512m"
Thanks again

of free memory, and in general larger heaps do help minimize time spent
in garbage collection.
I'd suggest reading
http://edocs.bea.com/wljrockit/docs81/tuning/basic.html#999276
what will be a better number to go with instead of 64MI'd bump it up to 512MB and tune from there.

THANK YOU for any help you can provide! These are errors/warning because of incorrect connection pool settings.Either the database parameters were not configured correctly or there were some issues with the configuration itself.

Can i set a node manager serve for 2 domain on one machin??
My question is simple.
I installed webcenter suite and soa suite in a machine using difference linux user and difference middleware home.
and I want to set a node manager server for two domains (soa_domain and webcenter_domain).
Is is possible?
When I tried to register domain list in node manager domain list using nmEnroll() of wlst, it failed.
please check following logs in 7101 is admin server port of soa domain and I ran node manager on webcenter domain.
Thanks in advance.

Setting apache as a front end host-proxy web server for weblogic 10.3.3
Hi ,
i have installed apache 2.2.21 in the red hat linux 6 environment. Now i am trying to set that apache web server as a front end host ,proxy web server for my weblogic 10.3 application server cluster. My apache is listening to the port 8080.
What changes i had to made in admin console of my server as well as in the httpd.conf file of apache.
Can any one guide me how to proceed ?
Any help is highly appreciated......Thanks Ravi,
i have already gone through http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/plugins/apache.html.
In my case "mod_wl_22.so" was not available but i downloaded this p10051826_1033_Generic.zip file from where i got that file and make it available in the modules directory, changed the file permissions (using chmod 755 mod_wl_22.so) and also changed the httpd.conf file as below :
LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_22.so
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
WebLogicCluster wlserv1:7001,wlserv2.com:7001
MatchExpression *.jsp
</IfModule>
By using /bin/ls command i checked the following :
/bin/ls: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.18, stripped
Using file mod_wl_22.so i checked the following:
mod_wl_22.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, not stripped
My problem is when i used ./apachectl -t i got the following error :
httpd: Syntax error on line 112 of /u40/app/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /u40/app/apache/modules/mod_wl_22.so into server: libstdc++.so.5:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So can u please guide me where my problem is and how to rectify it ? Its urgent. please help me.
Thanks

Help about W2K Apache plug-in for WLS
Hi,everybody.
I want to use the W2K apache http server for redirect the dynamic request to
WLS. But i don't have the corresponding plug-in. Who can help me? or Who can

Thanks in advance.

Steven ZhaoHi Steven,
as far as I know there is no Apache Plugin for Windows Platform. Your
choice is either Unix->Apache or Windows->IIS. I think there is a
Netscape Plugin as well, but I don't know for which platforms.

(268625273) Q WSI-29 Can you give any performance benchmarks for WLS web services?
Q<WSI-29> Can you give any performance benchmarks for WLS web services?
A<WSI-29>: It is very difficult to quantify performance aspects of web services
since they depend on so many variables including but not limited to: backend system
processing by stateless session beans and message driven beans, size of XML SOAP
message sent, system hardware (CPU speed, parallel processing, RAM speed) and
system software (JVM type and version of WebLogic server). However, let me point
out that the EJB backend processing of requests both have the best possible scalability
within the EJB2.0 specification (both stateless session and message driven beans
can be pooled) and servlets have a proven scalable track record. Thus it should
be possible to scale your web service deployment to meet demand. The overhead
in processing XML within the servlet can be significant depending on the size
of XML data (either as a parameter or a return type). While WLS6.1 does not have
any features to address this performance concern, WLS7.0 will feature Serializer
and Deserializer classes which can be dedicated to the XML to Java and Java to
XML translation (they can also be automatically be generated from a DTD, XML Schema
or regular JavaBean).
It is true that web services are not the fastest way to process client requests
but BEA is committed to making WebLogic server the fastest possible service provider.

Third party benchmarks for WLS
Does anyone have a reference for third party benchmarks for
WLS 5.1 or 6.0 vs other J2EE app servers?
Also performance of built-in WLS web server vs Apache or NES?
Thanks,

Easily done. See iTunes: How to set the play order of songs on an MP3 CD. Basically, if you sort the playlist by album, iTunes will burn the MP3 CD with album folders.
Thanks, that solves the second problem, which was the more pressing anyway.
Do you maybe also have an idea how to get rid of the number in front of the album title in the directory name?

How to upgrade the Admin Server to WLS 9.2.3 while Managed on 9.2.2
HI,
I have a WLS 9.2.2 domain with Admin and 2 Managed instances clustered. Admin and Managed Servers are on different machines.
I want to upgrade only the Admin Server to WLS 9.2 MP3 while all my Managed Servers are in WLS 9.2 MP2.
Can any one provide me the detailed steps on how to upgrade only the Admin server to WLS 9.2 MP3?
And I read in the Weblogic documentation that this supported. But could not find any detailed steps on how to upgrade only the Admin server to the Major version.
Thanks in Advance.Hi
1. "And I read in the Weblogic documentation that this supported". Can you please provide the link or documenation that exactly says that this is Supported ???
2. As far as I know, one of the basic requirements for Weblogic Cluster with managed servers across different remote machines is, all the machines, Admin and Managed Servers machines should have Exact Same Version (including Service Pack) of WLS deployed. Right now I do not have this link on top of my head. But this is the only Supported and one basic requirement for Weblogic Cluster.
Since WLS uses all Shared Modules and each Shared module do have like Implementation and Specification Version. If you upgrade admin server domain, most probably config.xml file will be upgraded with all modules version as 10.0.2.3 (something like that). This means when you restart Managed Servers, they will get a new copy of config.xml file from admin server machine. So now on Managed Servers all these modules (10.0.2.3 etc) should exist on their local machines. This is just my thought.
Thanks

Try setting the com.netscape.ldap.trace property.
\* When -D command line option is used, defining the property with
* no value will send the trace output to the standard error. If the
* value is defined, it is assumed to be the name of an output file.
* If the file name is prefixed with a '+' character, the file is
* opened in append mode.
This will create a ldap trace file of the requests that WLS is making on the
LDAP server. You can then see
where the filters are not returning the correct value for the group
membership.
