Deregister ipad

I am selling my iPad 2.  I know how to restore it to factory settings, but how do I deregister the serial number?

If you want to wipe your iPad back to new in box, i.e., ready to be set up as a new device.
    1.  Turn off Find My iPhone.
    2.  Then go to settings > general > erase > erase all content and data
You'll have to confirm you really want to do this, but once it's complete, the iPad will be back to way it was when you took it out of the box for the first time.
And BTW., it wasn't necessary to post this question twice in two separate threads.

What id shows at the bottom of the Featured tabs in the App Store apps on the two devices ? If they still show your account id then try tapping on the id and log out of it and your wife can then try logging in with her account.
Any content that is already on them that was downloaded by your account will remain tied to your account, so only your account will be able to download updates to your apps.

  • I`v registered my ipad to 5 computers. 4 have crashed how do i deregister from them?

    These are iPad apps correct?
Do you have restrictions set on the iPad? Settings>General>Restrictions>Installing apps>Off or Settings>General>Restrictions>Allowed Content?
Are you sure that the Apps are selected to sync from the Mac to the iPad?
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Apps Tab on the right.
Click on Install next to the apps that you want to sync.
Click on the Sync Apps Heading to select it
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If you do not see the sidebar in iTunes 11 - go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu.

  • I tried to access my books on my IPad through the Kindle app. The message reads Please remove the book from your device and redownload it from your Cloud items if possible.  I the problem persists trrey to deregister your applications and reregister it

I tried to access my books on the IPad Mini through the Kindle app. The message reads "Please remove the books from your device and redownload them from your Cloud items if possible.  If the problem persists, try to deregister your applications and register it again."

When the Kindle app was updated - none of my books showed up on my iPad. Here is what I did and I did it all on the iPad.
    Go to amazon.com
    Sign into your account
Tap on - Your Account - in the upper right  corner
Tap on Manage your Kindle - next to the Digital Content section on the left side.
Find your books in the next window
Tap on the Actions Icon next to the book title
Tap on deliver to - select your iPad
Go back to your Kindle app and see if it downloads

  • Unable to disable find my ipad states unable to deregister w/iCloud

    Hello,
Am attempting to refresh ipad air. Have saved previous data to both computer/icloud. Attempt to disable "find my ipad". Will not disable.
password is correct. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Are you absolutely certain that you are entering the password correctly and by that I mean are you using upper and lower case letters exactly like they are in your password? Have you tried signing out in Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Try signing out, restart your iPad and then go back and sign in again.

  • If someone wiped/deregistered my ipad from the device itself, would I still see it on my icloud as a registered decive?

Basically I'm unsure if I simply misplacedmy ipad or if it was stolen but there is a fair chance it was the later. I am just wondering if the person restored my ipad to the factory settings would it still be on my icloud as a registered device? Because right now it is still on my list of iclud devices but it's offline. I am pretty sure it was a low battery the last time that I saw it anyways so it could just be lost and dead but I was wondering if it was stolen if it would have a similar responce or if it would be gone completely etc.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If a person restored your iPad, you will still see the iPad in your iCloud account as registered to your Apple ID, although now another Apple ID is being used with that device. Apart from that, note that "Find my iPad" can only track devices when they are connected to the Internet and they have the Apple ID you used to register them into Find my iPad, in this case, your Apple ID

  • How do you transfer data from one iPad to another when upgrading models?

    Hello.
I am about to sell my iPad 1 and buy a new iPad.
How do I save my old setup and keep my purchased Apps (music, etc)?... I already made a backup in iCloud, but don't see any menu to allow for restoring any or all my information...
Should I deregister my old iPad before or after I reset it to factory setup?
Is there anything else I should I do before selling the device?
    Thanks,
    Jacques

If you only backup with iCloud and have never used iTunes, then there is nothing more for you to do. But you have the iPad original so I'm guessing that you must have used iTunes at some point. This is what I would do - if you still use iTunes.
Backup the iPad, transfer purchases into iTunes, and sync one last time. If you have any other important files, you may want to transfer them to your computer as well, prior to the update.
    Transfer purchases.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
After you have all content saved in iTunes and iCloud go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings to wipe the old iPad.
When you get the new iPad, restore from your backup and then sync with iTunes. You will have the option of restoring from iCloud or iTunes when you set the iPad up. I used iTunes because I still use iTunes as my main backup and iCloud as my "backup" backup.
At some point, remove the old iPad as an associated device in iTunes. Do this after you erase the iPad,

  • How would my dad delete the kindle app from the original ipad and then reinstall? He keeps on trying to reinstall it, but it keeps on coming up with my kindle account.  Or at least how do I sign out on his ipad so he doesn't keep on getting my stuff?

Okay. here's the deal. First, I received the original Ipad for a birthday present. Now, I have the ipad 2 and my dad has my original ipad. We were able to delete all of the apps and reset most of the other items. However, I originally had the kindle app on there and when he is reinstalling it comes up with my kindle account. How do we change this? He does not have an actual kindle so I am not sure if he would be able to create one anyways. I just don't want it to keep on coming up with my account.
    Thank you!

The Kindle app is so you do not have to use a Kindle. Yes, he can have a Kindle account and not own an actual Kindle hardware device.

  • How can I use iMessage after deregistering my device?

I recently switched to WP8 and I realized I wasn't getting my text messages.  After some research, I found that I need to deregister my device(s).  That's fine and it seems to work.  My question now is, how can I continue to use iMessage with my current AppleID without it somehow screwing up my text messages for my new phone?
For some perspective, I had my iPhone on, but the cellular turned off so that I could still use it for wifi.  My iPad only has wifi.  So I turned off my iPhone and suddenly my texts starting working on my new phone.  That's weird, I thought.  How come I'm getting messages on my iPhone through imessage?  After turning off my iPhone, suddenly my iPad started picking them up.  I then deregistered both devices, but I still wnat to use iMessage.  Make sense?  I hope so

    Yes.
Once your iPhone is set up, on your computer add the phone number using Messages/Preferences/Accounts.

  • Removing access from an iPad no longer in my possession

Got divorced and my ex-wife kept my iPad. I changed my AppleID password but it looked like she was still able to download apps I had already purchased. I've gone in and deregistered the device from my AppleID; is there anything else I can do to force her to get her own ID and prevent her from using mine? I realize I should have thought of this before she took off with it but at the time things were looking like they'd be amicably resolved.

    Thanks for your help
Then your only option to remove these photos from your phone is to restore your device as NEW.

You are seeing the message because the new AirPort Extreme has some specific System Requirements:
    http://www.apple.com/airport-extreme/specs/
    Setup and Administration
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later and AirPort Utility 1.3
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and AirPort Utility 6.3
AirPort Utility 5.6.1 in Snow Leopard may or may not work correctly with the new Extreme for all functions. As long as things are working OK for now, you can probably leave them "as is" and wait for another Mavericks update to fix some issues before you "upgrade".
If you have an iPhone or iPad, you could use that to administer any settings changes on the new Extreme.

  • Deregistering a number from iMessage

    Hi,
This is probably an odd query, so hopefully there is somebody out there who can answer the question. I bought this on myself, by playing with something I didn't fully understand, so feel a bit stupid right now.
I just upgraded to the iPhone 4S, and had my operator unlock my old iPhone 3GS. When I restored my 3GS, I put in temporarily my work mobile phones SIM card - from another operator to validate that the handset was indeed unlocked, and registered it against my Apple ID. Somewhere along the line I managed to register that telephone number with iMessage, as well as my proper mobile number on my 4S.
Now, whenever I send a message to my contact for my work number - it get's sent as an iMessage, and get's delivered to my iPhone 4S, and my iPad, and to my iPhone 3GS (if I have the other SIM in it) - but if that SIM card is in my work Nokia handset, the SMS doesn't arrive on that handset... only if I turn off iMessage from the iPhone4S that I am sending the message from. I am assuming worst case scenario, and that any iPhone that uses iMessage that tries to SMS message that number will end up using iMessage, and thus I will never receive any SMS messages on that Nokia handset that originate from iMessage enabled phones.
So my question is this - how can I deregister a number with iMessage, and have it so it uses only my apple ID email, and my personal number that is permanently going to be in my iPhone 4S.
Many thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I start to understand partly where the problem comes from.I have made different test since your last answer:
    1. My wife has no iPhone, but has ... an iPad! I discovered that my iMessage were received by the iPad. We did not know this since she never check her messages on her iPad. I do not quite understand the link between her telephone number and her email address but it is a fact : my iMessages sent to her telephone number were received by her iPad.
    2. Then I have entered her email adress as an address of iMessage. I have now 2 adresses for her : her telephone number and her email address. When sending an iMessage to her email address, she received it on her iPad. But when sending an iMessage to her Telephone number, she still not receives it, neither on her telephone, nor on her iPad. And it is considered on my iPhone as received. It means that her telephone is still known as an IOS device and that, if the message is delivered somewhere, it is certainly not delivered on her telephone.
Hope these new elements can feed the discussion.
