Derivation of Material classification Characteristics values in COPA

Hi,
Although similar type of questions are there in Forum, But I did not find the correct solution, hence I am putting this thread.
My question is , in classification view of material master we have Class type - 23 (Batch).
We are maintaining many chracteristics and their values in the material master.
Now my requirement is whenever the billing is done for any sales order having this material, all the characteristics and its value should flow to COPA.
Although the details are there in table AUSP. But I am not finding any way out to derive these characteristics and its value or get these information in COPA.

Hi Ajay,
The attribute tab is not available in MOVE. Is there any other place where I can find this attribute tab.
While doing the Analysis of derivation, it showing the message :
*"Derivation was not carried out. Reason: Not available"*
Both Source field and Target filed is showing blank. I am not able to figure out the reason.
Is there any relation with Class Type. We are using here Class Type - 23 (Batch).
And in KEDR , in MOVE as you suggested I am using Source Vield VCONF.
I hope these are OK.
I am using the User defined characteristics WW09 , with own value maintenence. Is this OK?
What could be the possible reasons for not populating the data.

Hi,
I am looking for the tables which contain the material and characteristics values. e.g. For a particular material what are the characteristics available and what are their uniq values. It will be great if you could provide me the tables name along with the link key (foreign key) between the material no and it's characteristics. Even though I have tried ausp & other tables but I could not find the uniq for a particular material. All answers are appreciable.

Second thought about extracting classification characteristics values

Hello expert:
     I have a question about uploading material classification data into BW, I know I can extract this classification data by new datasource set up by transaction CTBW. this is the normal way to extract classification data . I just want to do it in another way technically. My question is : can I enhance some BC datasources such as : 0EC_PCA_3, in this way, I will do this enhancement as follows:
   (1) enhance transaction DS by classification characteristics , such as 0EC_PCA_3.
   (2) customize master DSes for classification characteristics.
   (3) create infoobject in BW corresponding to classification characteristics
   (4) put those infoobjects into the same dimension as material in the infocube which is the datatarget for 0EC_PCA_3
   (5) load master data for those infoobjects for classification characteristics
   (6) load transaction data for enhanced transaction DS 0EC_PCA_3
by the procedure, I also can get the information for those classification characteristics, please correct me .

Hi,
You can use CMOD to enhance 0MATERIAL_ATTR as an alternative to CTBW transaction but keep in mind that Material classification has to do with master data.
That is the main reason why enhancing transactional data datasources with master data attributes should be avoided if possible. Even if you need to report on historical truth, you can accomplish it by using Read master data feature on transformations (for example, when you load your InfoCube, you can read material classification master data from 0MATERIAL instead of 0EC_PCA_3).

How to read Material classification/characteristics

Dear all,
I have to read the characteristic values belonging to a material.
I found some threads about BAPI BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL_KEY and BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL but I don´t know how to call them.
First Question: Is this the right way/function to read the characteristics from one material? If no what is the "right" way?
Second Question: How to call this beast for one material?

The key here is the parameter <b>objecttable_imp</b>
This parameter should be the Key Master table of the object.

What SAP table houses the Material Classification values?

I cannot for the life of me figure out what SAP table actually stores the material classification characteristic values. These are the related tables I have found so far but none of them link the information to a material number:

Can anyone please help me and advise where the actual relationship between material number and classification information is? I'm trying to import this information from MDM to R/3 but I have no idea what to map it to or what Idoc segment to use.

Have a go with below table joint in SQVI or SQ01:
KSSK (Allocation Table: Object to Class), joint together with KLAH (Class Header Data).
Link will be field CLINT.
Choose the below from KSSK:
Key of object to be classified - KSSK-OBJEK: you will enter the material number here. Watch out - you have to add 10 leading zeros before your material number, eg. number 40524281 will be altered to 000000000040524281.
Class Type - KSSK-KLART: here you can specify the class type which is 001 for material master.
Choose the below from KLAH:
Class number - KLAH-CLASS: this field will return the class number you assigned to your material in Classification view.

In order to derive CO-PA chars from material classification view for a
specific material value you have to implement the CO-PA derivation exit
(include ZXKKEU11) accordingly. It's indeed table AUSP from which you
can get the corresponding value (field ATWRT) for each classifying
attribute (field ATINN). In order to find out the field name for each
ATINN number (so that the mapping to corresponding CO-PA chars can be
done in a sensible way) you have to select additionally the ATNAM value
from table CABN (for given ATINN number).

we will use copa for analysis.
we want to have some material classification values to pa. we have the ausp value at copa by using
kedr. but the problem is text of the classification values.
When i try to create a value field with referance to the data element ATWRT than i have the error length 00030 of the data element is too big.also i know that there is no chance to create ATRWT with 30 chac length.
when i create the value field without value maintanance then the text of the classification not comes to pa.
At last i have created the value field as with own value maintanence and double the charecteristic names and text from kes1.
But this solution is not suitable.
Is there a way to take this text from cawnt table?

How to transfer the classification characteristics of MM to COPA?

I have been trying to bring the classification characteristics of MM to COPA.I don't have a match for those in COPA and I am unable to get those values thru table look up from KSML, KLAH or AUSP into COPA.Could anyone please help me out.

I am understanding that you want to derive COPA characteristics based on some Classification values. But what you need to understand is that the values flows to COPA from SD when you either post a Sales order or Billing Document.
So you need to explore what classification data is available in Sales order or Billing Document for the material, check those tables of SD only those values can be used in Derivations to derive the characteristics.

I have maintained some values in the characteristics under batch classification in material master and want to copy the values in batch characteristics during batch creation at process order release.

Hi,
Try to understand the batch classification functionality...In batch classification characteristic values changes from batch to batch...Values should not be maintained in the material master...it does not have any meaning...in the material master we need to assign only the batch class with class type 023 in classification view ...no need to assign the values there....Batch classification means characteristics values differs from batch to batch...

Picking or copying Characteristics Value from material master

Dear Experts,
Please i create five Characteristics which i assign to a Class ( of type 022 ). The Class is then assigned to materials in the classification View of the Material Master.
I want one of the five Characteristics to copy its values from specific parameter value maintaned in the Material Master.
Please assist on how to accomplish this?
I did the following but did not get the desired results; While creating this Characteristic, in the Values Tab, I filled ''MARC'' in the Tablename field & in the Fieldname field, i enter the technical fieldname of the particular field from table MARC which i want.
I want this particular value to be automatically copied into the Characteristics Value field in the Foreground for eacb batch anytime Goods Receipt is done.
after doing this, anytime Goods Receipt is done & a batch number generated, it takes me to the Classification screen, but this particular field which i desire to be auto updated remains blank.
Please assist ?

1. This will not automatically updated just as we wil fill the addtional date table and field.
2. you need to write the object dependency to get it updated when you call somewhere
3. Generally in the batch level you will be able to do this .( even you can use function / object dependency )

Search Material by Multiple Characteristics Values

Hi gurus,
I need your help in a subject.
I've a material which is assigned to two classes ZMATERIAL and ZMATERIAL2.
ZMATERIAL has some characteristics about the material and ZMATERIAL2 has also different characteristics.
I want to search for material by giving values for multiple characteristics which are assigned to different classes.
For example;
ZMATERIAL has Plant and Material Group as characteristic
ZMATERIAL2 has Responsible Person as characteristic
I want to search by giving plant and responsible person. Can I do this in SAP? It allows me to search only by one class as I see.

Seems it can be done if you can use class hierarchy.
Create a new class ZMAT without any characteristic , then assign your existing classes to this class using transaction CL22N. once its done, you can use CL30N to search objects in new class ZMAT , also you will have optyion to use subordinate class for this searches.

Update Blank value on material classification

Hello All,
i am having a problem with regards to updating material characteristics with this
FM: CACL_OBJECT_VALIDATION_MAINT with a class type description, material class
updating from a report and fields WITH VALUES are no problems..
the catch is.. when i want to update a field with a BLANK value, it is not shown as blank.
for example: i want to change the CHARACTERISTIC DESCRIPTION: ACTION CODE of a particular material with SPACE, and its initial value is 01. There will be no change. BUT if i update it with 02, when i view the material classification, it is changed to 02.
is this really standard (like when the value is space no update is done?) or am i missing something.

How to find the list of material variant based on the characteristics value

We are creating materials variants for FERT Material Type in material master in MRP-3 view .There we configure the variant by attaching characteristics value
Now we want to have a report , which can give the list of material variants , if char value is given in selection
Can somebody guide me if there is standard report for this OR what is the linkage in Table , so that we can develop a report

I couldn't find a standard report to get the material variants based on characteristic values (the nearest I could find was CT12) but I wrote a report some time back here's the table join logic for the main select statement.

I included bare minimum fields to suite your requirement needs you can add whatever other field you want . Though I tested the table join, I suggest you to test it again before writing your own ABAP program using SE16N.

We are using Multi level Material Variants and our bussiness process demands for configuration of These Material variants in Transaction MD81 and during creation of Sales order .These configuration will not affetc the BOM explosion but will only be passed to the The lower level components (Which are again theMulti level Configuriable Material variants ) as manufacturing instructions .To Enable these Flow of Characterisitcs we have Applied a Note which allows the Multi level Configuration of Material Variants and Pass this Values to lower Level and the characteristics value flow is visible as well for lower level from CU50 ,but when i create the requirement through CIR or sales order and Configure the Material Variants and Generate the Procurement Proposals to fullfill these requirements (MD02) in the form of Planned order we are unable to pass one the Characterisitcs values to planned orders of lower level Components of Material Variants .These characterisitc values are Used as Manufacturing Instructions and should be passed on to the Lower level of Material Variants through the use of dependencies in Configuration profile .but the problem is it works in CU50 and does not flow in planned orders , does any body have a solution for this ?

I check that you implement a Note which allows the Multi level Configuration of Material Variants? is it sap note? mind to share the number.
I ever faced this problems to before but fortunately the case in simpler so i just create another variant and maintain the component for the variant. For example : characteristic color. I create variant with color red black etc. For variant red, maintain component red. For variant black maintain component black, so on. Is it possible for your case?

Assign direct material cost to value field in copa while issue to Prod orde

Dear All,
My requirement is like this:
There are some 16 material groups from A to P each containing some materials(finished goods).
I want to allocate overhead to different material groups(Charecteristic in copa) in COPA using the periodic assesment cycles. I am able to allocate overhead(admin & sales cost) to different value fields in copa from different cost centers.
I want to analyse the product cost and also the profitability of each material group in COPA using Report painter. Iam able to pull all the costs which i assign to value fields using assessment. But, i am NOT able to get the direct material cost which is issued to production orders using BOM.
My question is whether we can assign the direct material cost to any user defined value field(material cost value field) while the material is being issued to production orders. Is there any automated way where we can directly assign the direct material cost to value field in copa while issuing the material to Production orders.
Pls explain me whether we can do it. if yes how?

PA is a Profitability analysis tool. That means it gets updated when a sale is made, not before. (Except for settlements and assessment of overheads.)
Goods issues for production gets updated in CO-PC, and needs to be analysed there. If you don't, you loose all the inbuilt tools for variance analysis, cost estimate comparisons, Wip Calculation etc. To the best of my knowledge, a Profitability Segment cannot be used as a cost object in Production Planning, because amongst others, you need to be able to capitalise the produced materials to stock at the end of the production run, or to WIP at the end of the Financial period,which is not possible with PS.
Similarly, overheads are recorded in CCA and needs to be analysed there.
If one goes against these big groupings in SAP, you always run into problems.
