Deriving the size of a message

Having discovered what may be a flaw (or a misunderstanding on my part) in the mailbox statistics report I'm working on my own derivation of the size of messages in one or more accounts. Using the statisitics report as a comparison I'm not arriving at the same figures. I'm adding the message size with the size of all attachments. So I'm wondering if there's another factor I'm not looking at, possibly that the message size doesn't include the space required to store the message recipient.
Does anyone have any insights into what I need to look at.
Thanks,
Lilith

  • JDeveloper 11.2.1.0 - Is there a way to config the size of popup messages?

    Hello community!
Since I upgraded to the latest version of JDev, I've been facing problems with the size of my error messages, warnings and the like. Even after messing around, I couldn't find a way to change the way error messages and warning messages show up, they all pop on the same size, much longer than the text they carry. I wanted it to be the way it was before, where messages showed up according to their content.
Is there a way to change this?
    Thanks in advance,

  • How to know the size of a message I wrote

When I created a photojournal, with comments before each photo, I got a message "The size of the message you are trying to send exceeds the global size limit of the server."
So it was not sent and I was told to reduce it and try again. I did that with the photos, deleted a few, as well, but still got the error message, and have not discovered how to find the size of the message.

  • Showing Size of Email Message While Composing

With OS 10.4.11, the bottom of a message window would show the size of an email message I was composing. This is important when attachments may be too large to be transmitted.
With OS 10.6.1, I do not see this feature. Does it still exist and, if so, where do I find it?
    Thanks.

    Ira, and others,
In 10.4.11, the size of a message was not shown until a file was attached, coincident with showing the Image Size button. The difference both Mail 3.x and Mail 4.x vs Mail 2.x, is that that will only happen if a true photo image file is attached, and with no other file type. In Mail 2.x and 10.4, you could resize files such as PDF -- but they were no longer PDF, but instead became JPEG -- this was too often problematic. So now the Image Size button menu is only offered with photo image files, and without the Image Size button, message size has never been reported.
If you add, say, a JPEG to a message you are composing, then you will see the size of the message and the Image Size button menu.

  • Get the size when I'm sending

    Hello,
I want to save a email when I'm sending using a pop3 account. I'm using my own Message object and I want to set the size of the email doing something like this:
    MyMessageObject message
    MimeMessage javamailmessage
    message.setSize(((Integer)javamailmessage.getSize()).longValue());
But i save always -1, I know that getSize return -1 if the size cannot be determined, but when is determined the size? I can save the size of the message using getSize or I have to use another way to get this value (read the outputstream or something like this).
    Thaks, regards.
PD: I don't know if I have explained correctly, the only thing that I want is know which is the size of one message before send using Pop3.

I'm sorry, I don't know why I wrote POP3, I know that I'm using SMTP to send (probably I wrote pop3 because when I send with smtp with my imap account I save the email in INBOX.Sent and I can know the size, but yes, I know that I'm using Smtp to send mails.
Thanks, I thought that I have to use message.writeTo, but I wanted to confirm to see if exist a better way.
    Thanks for your help!

I recently upgraded to Yosemite. Yesterday when I opened up the iPhoto (which I have it in my external drive due to the size of file) I get the message that it is not compatible with the new system(or something like that) and ask me to upgrade so I did. Then another message pops ups and asked for rebuilding the Thumbnails. So I clicked rebuild. Next it asked me to do one of three things(I can't remember all of them) so I chose the last one which is to download a photo to iPhoto. Now I only have that photo I downloaded in iPhoto file but not the rest of my pictures. The iPhoto library which is stored in my EHD shows it has 349GB but it only show one thumbnail of the last picture I downloaded after the rebuild process. What can I do to recover the rest of the file?
    Thanks for your help.

  • I cannot see how many messages are in or the size of the trash or sent folders after upgrading to 3.1.10

I recently upgraded my Thunderbird client to 3.1.10 from 2.2xx and I no longer can see the size of folders or how many messages are in certain folders. The folders do show how many are unread, but not the total messages or size of data in folder as I could with the previous version. If these options have been removed for some reason is there a problem with reverting to the previous version? Thanks, Dave English

That was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks

  • Apple Mail (Mavericks), Viewing size of list is too small.how do you increase the size of the email message list.  The font is too small, I can hardly read them.

In Apple Mail, using Mavericks, how do you increase the size of the email message list that displays on the left side of the screen?
The font size is so small.
    Thanks.

Thank you for responding.  After investigating and checking further, it was clear that only one of your suggestions changes the font size of the list of emails, also called the In-box.  And that is the display resolution.
However, changing the display resolution affects the dots per inch of everything, everywhere and makes it larger.
Given the high end fee Apple charges for their products, and the generally well developed software they provide, it is hard to imagine they have not corrected this obvious slight of effort on the inbox text. At times Apple's "one-size-fits-all" and "it's our way or no way" mentality astounds me and makes me want to run back to Microsoft.
Evidently this is a well known mistake, which has yet to receive any attention.
Again, thank you for your effort and assistance on my behalf.

  • Can you change the size of the buddy icons in Messages?

In Mountain Lion Messages, I have a lot of simulataneous chats going on.   The icon sizes for my buddies is too large for me.  I'd like it to be smaller so I can see more buddies on my list of concurrent chats withough having to scroll down to see them.   Any idea how I can change this?

    HI,
You  cannot change the PIc size of the Buddy on the Buddy List or in the Messages (Chat) window.
In the View Menu you can turn off the Buddy Pics (Depending if the Buddy List or Messages window is the "Front" one when you use that Menu).
