"description" field - new line?

it used to be that just hitting 'ENTER' would create a new line in the <itunes:summary> section. Now that things have changed (for the worse) ... what would I put to make a new line? would a do it?

It still works OK when subscribing - my summaries have a double line between sections and this shows correctly: but in the Store itself the 'Description' column (which is populated from the 'itunes:summary' tag) does not recognize line returns. I can't remember whether it did before, but from what you say I assume it did, and now doesn't. I don't see that you can do anything about it, other than to send a complaint to Apple:

I agree with you that it's not satisfactory.

Workflow Action: Trouble adding a new line in "Description" field.

Hi folks. I'm really having a difficult time with this one and it seems so simple...
I am struggling with how to get a field update action to enter a line break in a note field. I've tried "\n", "\n\r", "chr(13)", "chr(10)", "<br>" and so on.... it just puts the text of what I use into the Description.
Here's the simplified workflow action...
[<NextStep>] + "\ \n" + PRE('<Description>')
What it's supposed to do.. is every time someone updates the field [<NextStep>], I want to replace the contents of the description field with the new value for nextstep (plus a new line) and then followed by everything that was in the description field previously. This way I have a running log in the description field.
Idealy it should put:
Today() + ": " + [<NextStep>] + <line break> + PRE('<Description>')
but when I add the Today() it ignores everything that follows. I'm not as worried about that as I am about the inablity to put in the line beak. Please help!!!

I had used the "\\n" in my expressions to add a new line in the Description field. Only issue is also add a \ to the end of line but that was acceptable in my case. We are on OOD R16.

Records are not getting imported due to new line charactor in the field

Dear All,
I am trying to load a file into target but the import is failing. The error thrown is as below;
During the import of leads into CRMoD through loading the New lead/Step lead file received from CA, leads have not been imported and we encountered the following
error message:
"Import field 'LAST_NAME' had a blank value for the required Oracle CRM On Demand field 'Last Name'. This record was not imported. Please enter desired values for
the required fields and re-import this record."
Reason:
Leads are not imported due to an additional new line (Enter) character, which results in the subsequent lines not being picked up and the error of import failure.
Please help me to resolve this to remove the new line charactor in the field so that import succeeds..
By the way, I am working on ODI 11g.

While i was reading your post i remembered an issue that madded me. I don't know Oracle CRM, but a possible workaround could be to create a temporary Oracle table and load all data inside it. After that load in CRM only valid rows.

Text continues moving horizontally rather than starting a new line in editable text field

I am trying to make a feed backbox for visitors on my website. I have made the editable text field and scroll bar and set all of my preferences, but when the typing reaches the border on the right of the text field it just continues to type further horizontaly. I can start a new line by pressing enter but I would like it to start a new line on its own when it reaches the boundary. Any help is appreciated.

How do you get a new line in a description of an iCal event?

I need to be able to create multiple lines in a description of an iCal event. In the past, I used control return to get a new line. In Mountain Lion, this does not show up as a new line, once the event has been saved. It merges all of the text onto one line and creates new lines as the space dictates. How can I force new lines in the event description between the words that I have chosen?

I'm interested too.
Please help, I had own method to management iCal's event – new line, of 10.7 worked great – now is a little terrible for me :/

Wrapping Text to a New Line in a Single Text Field.

I was wondering is it possible to conintue text in the same text field that runs out of space on a line to a new line in the same text field. If this is possible could someone please advise.
i.e:
alot of text and random txt [ text box
text ] more txt on the next line.

You need to check the checkbox "Allow multiple lines" in the Object properties.. You need to check the checkbox "Expand to Fit" for height in the Layout properties of the field.
When you do this, you need to set the subform that wraps the TextField to Flowed. Otherwise the text will overlap on the fields below.
Make sure you save the form as Dynamic PDF. Goto File menu -> Form Properties and choose Default tab. And select "Render PDF as" Dynamic PDF.

Format bold text in field and putting some text on new line - Help!

I am lost. I found the rich text formating item to click. But after that, I don't know what to do next. I want to bold some characters and I want some reponses on separate lines as I asked previously. As to spans and the commands - I have no programming experience. I have just been using what George has given me. It has worked well, but I just need the bold text in some of the field text to be printed and I need some items to be on separate lines. But I have no idea where to put the information you are saying about spans and I do not know the script to use to bold text or to start text on new line. Am I to insert it in the calculation box of the text box? Sorry to be so lame, but I am void in programming skills. Help!
For example, here is the script. In aISOreq{0], if I want to bold "Patter#1 Check:", where do I put the span and what script do I use to say to bold it.   Could you give me an example, please. Also, if I want to put "a. Medications on weekend?" on one line and "b. Activities on weekends? Types of activities? Supervision? With who?" on the next line, where do I put the span and what script do I use to say to put on separate lines? Could you give me an example for this also, please. Look at the reference of the richValue property of the Field object. It contains a couple of examples of how it should be done. Also read the reference of the Span object.

JTextArea How do I add text on a new line from Text field

I want to put each new input from the text field at the start of a new line and keep the previous entries at the start of their
own line.
I'm doing this but need help with the new line.

Maybe you should use the escape character. Anyway, you can consider use append(text:String) instead of getText() everytime.
Eg:
jTextArea1.append("\n"+source.getSourceText());

Content Conversion when each field is in a new line

Hi,
I have file format denoted with .SIF or .CIF. This file is organised like -
AB=asdas
BC=qweqwe
CD=lop;lk;lk
YZ=sdfsdf
In each line the data after the = is actually the value of the field. Few set of these fields could repeat. And a new record would start when ever a particular field starts again.
I would need to convert this particular file using file content conversion (May be to a flat XML, from where I would handle it to get structured in to hierarchical format). Is this possible using the default file adapter? Can a NEW LINE character can be used as the fieldSeparator? I did not try this as of now, but would want to know if any one of you have already dealt with such a file.

New line in a text field

Hi,
I have a requirement to display the information like below (in different lines) in a text(long) field, its just plain text.
Firstname\Last name:
Address:
State:
Zipcode:
How can i write this in Default value? i tried to use '\n' for a new line, it did not work. Any ideas?

This can be done by crateing a blank filed and then selecting it.
Follow below steps.
Admin >> Application Cutomisation >> Record Type Setup >> Select Record >> New Field
Select Field type as Web Link , Check Read Only, Hold ALT while type 255

Concat 4 source fields in new line to a single field in IDoc segment-field?

My requirement is below: Need to concar 4 sources fields in a file and map them to a single target field (In IDoc) with each source field in new line.
Lets say if I have a source file with
f1, f2, f3, f4
I need to send to single target field as follow:
f1
f2
f3
f4
It is basically concat in newline. Can I use any delimiter string in std concat funtion or help me to provide sample code for UDF.

How do you restrict new line in input field or delete last char. in as3?

Sorry, Noobie here!
I have a text input box. If the enter key is pressed, a new line begins; thus making the previous line invisible unless the backspace key is pressed.
So, if i type "1" into the input box, then hit eneter the number "1" becomes invisible, unless I hit back.
Now, I still need the enter key because i have an event listener that calls a function once it is pressed, but i still need that "1" to be visible.
So, I need one of either:
To be able to restrict the input text field from creating a new line (making max line allowed= 1)
or
To delete the last character entered in the input text if the enter key is pressed.
Both of these should have the same result, however I don't know how to do both.
If anyone can help, i'd be very grateful!

I want to insert a new line to the data package, with all the fields same while adding the above two,

Note: by default the field /bic/zitm = 1. So while adding for the 1st time it is set to 1 by default. I want to add a second (new line) to the datapackage which has all fields same except for the /bic/zd_user and the /bic/zitm = 2.
