Description Filed for Self Modify Resources

Hi all,
I'm facing an issue in working with Oracle identity manager 11g. In particular, when I try to raise a Self-Modify Provisioned Resource, the field "Description" in Resource Task Detail tab is blank or misvalued for the approver (I'm talking about an Approval task), but the descriptive field is correctly mapped (in the field description for each resource, exploring user resources, I see the correct value). It seems that Oracle Identity Manager doesn't read the correct ORC_TOS_INSTANCE_KEY to describe the current request.
Anyone has an idea? I'm going slighly mad!

What version of OIM are you on? If you are on 11.1.1.5 there was bug in the product affecting Modify Provisioned Resource requests that I think has since been solved in a bundle patch. I suggest you install the latest bundle patch (5) and check if this is now fixed.

Hi Carmen,
First Question: How upload this Pictograms in the t.code SE80?
Right click on Pictograms folder > Import MIME Objects
Take in count you're using by this way a standard folder.
To use a custom folder, for ESS i suggest you ask for your Basis guy to generate another location in your server, then save your custom pictograms there. After that, create a resource that refers to the image, using 'Server for Resources' by this way;
Define:
1) a server for resources in SPRO > Personnel Mgmt > ESS > General Settings > Homepage for Self-Services > Resources > Define Server for Resources
2) a resource in SPRO > Personnel Mgmt > ESS > General Settings > Homepage for Self-Services > Resources > Define Resources, that refers to a image and use the new server defined; use the URL of Resource Object field with relative reference (e.g. /new_portrait.gif), and complete the server field with the server created before (can be a local server)
3) a resource that represents a page area, that use the resource as picture
For MSS you can do the same, by associating the customizing from the MSS area group page.
Second Question:
For the Pictograms in the MSS , Where Are stored, How can upload this Pictograms?
In the same route that ESS, which depends on your installation folder; check with your Basis guy
For MSS, since ERP2005 versions, the pictogram is obtained from 'Pictogram...' property of Portal objects, but you can blank this property and use the ERP customizing to set your own custom images, handling as described in point 1.

We are using ECC 6.04, BP 1.41 for ESS and MSS.
I checked the property Workset Map Pictogram for the following Image:

And this have the property Workset Map Pictogram in blank for the Workset Team of the Image of Above.
You says:

For me I have found that people learn best by doing. I prefer a "pull" method of instruction (scenarios are presented and the learner needs to think about, interact with and make a decisions) as opposed to "push"(static, the learner just reads or listens. standard powerpoint type presentation).
I do agree with Kurrykid though. People definately learn in different ways and when creating e-learning courses we must design them to be so.
Some people's preferred learning style is to grab a book and teach themselves while others need a classroom or individual instruction. Some people need a blended approach of theory and practical exercises and some don't. I personally am the former. I can't ask a book a question or have it explain something to me in a different way. I prefer an intructor and classroom over self study.
A well developed e-learning course can emulate a classroom environment yet still appeal to those that prefer self study.

Hey Everyone - a quick update. A very helpful friend gave me a hand figuring this out turns out the wikid process was failing because of a blog plist file. Replacing the metadata.plist files for all the users (whom had blogs in the collab data store) along with all the metadata.plist files for the groups as well got the service back up and running. When I say replace, I mean we renamed them all metadataplist.old and the system rebuilt the files and then loaded up without crashing.
I'll try and better document this whole issue (with more research into the cause) and update this for anyone facing this in the future.

Friends -
We are planning to implement Self-Service Human Resources in HRMS 11i. I am able to find out information using metalink note : Recommended Patch List for Self-Service Human Resources (SSHR) in HRMS 11i [ID 108897.1].
As per note : 108897.1 there are bunch of patch details i am not sure which patch i need to apply currently we are on oracle apps 11.5.10.2 with Rup5

Hi,
I agree. However, I understand that the Patches search in My Oracle Support website mentions that the RUP patch is included in the next RUP patch available.
Please note that you need to consider also the patches in the following documents on top of RUP 5.
Note: 1075477.1 - Known Issues on Top of Patch 9062727 11i.HR_PF.K.DELTA.5 (11i HRMS RUP 5)
Note: 1096417.1 - Applied Patch 9062727 (11i.Hr_pf.K.Delta.5) And Left With FFP<######> Invalid Packages

Self-Request Modify resource deleting groups

I have a Database Application Table connector setup with a child table. I have the self-request dataset configured so that the child form is embedded into the self-request form to enable requesting multiple groups similar to AD User form for groups. I can add additional groups with no problems, but when I have 2 or more groups and I try to delete one of those group, it deletes both of the groups.
Is this a Oracle bug or I'm doing something wrong?

Hi,
You can make the manager part of a group that has menu item "Requests" --> "Resources". It will allow the manager to create, enable, disable and revoke accounts for a user.
You can do the following for the approval process:
1) create a second workflow(approval) for a specific resource.
2) create a business rule of type 'process determination' and subtype
'approval' , Add an Element 'Request Object Action == Revoke'
Go to resource object Under the approval process , select the above
business rule created in step2 and the workflow created in step 1
Now when you try to revoke this resource from a user this workflow
should get called.

How to restrict the user in MIRO for not modifying price

Hi All
My requirement is How to restrict the users in MIRO screen for not modifying Material Prices of only the for specific ROH types .
For example :
Valuation class             RM description
3021                             RM - A
3022                             RM - B
3024                             RM - C
when ever we procure the above Raw materials A,B and C and
the Quantity of each Raw material @ 10 units and value @ 1 INR for each unit
RM - A procured qty 10 @1 total price is INR 10
RM - B procured qty 10 @1 total price is INR 10
RM - C procured qty 10 @1 total price is INR 10
total price of PO is INR 30
when we received invoice material prices are assume it INR 1 is excess for each material.Now the invoice price for each RM has become INR 11.
in MIRO we want restrict the user to change the price from INR 10 to 11.
suggest the best possible ways to restrict in MIRO screen

OIM 11G : Selecting Multiple RO's in Single "Self Request Resource" Failing

Hello Everyone,
OIM 11G : End User "Self Request Resource" failing when user selects 2 or more resources in a Single Self Request Resource Request
1) On OIM 11G, I have created 2 resource objects, workflow, process forms.
2) Created the separate request dataset xml and imported into OIM repository
3) Now if an end user creates a request , "Self Request Resource" and selects one of the resource
4) Form defined as per request dataset shows up perfectly for the application on Resource Attributes page which comes next.
5) Only Problem that I am seeing is when End User selects 2 resources in one single request
Both the resource request dataset has been correctly configured because selecting only 1 works not both when both are selected in same request.

Hello Experts,
on OIM 11G
I am getting the above issue when an end user does a "self request resource" and selects 2 Resource Objects.
On the Next Page, attribute form defined as per the request dataset.xml does not show up.
Both the RO's are seen on top breadcrumbs but with a blank form. I can navigate to the next RO Resource Data Details again with a blank form.
Though the attribute form as per request dataset comes up properly if I select any 1 of the 2 RO's and make "self request resource". everything goes fine.
I have followed the documentation thoroughly to import the datasets etc and can see request dataset in MDS_PATHS table (DEV_MDS user).
If anybody has also faced a similar issue or tested that selecting 2 RO's in 1 single "self request resource" works , pls let me know.

In our application, we have a Self-Request for a particular resource.
When a user raises a request for this resource, the request failed with no error message. No approvals are required in the request level.
On clicking “view details”, a blank pop up appears! From the request details I found that the request is in failed state. The request fails in the request level.
Please help as to how to figure out the root cause of the issue?
Any pointers to this would be helpful.

Failure of ACL setting for CIFS share resource on Windows client logined with administrator account

Hi,
We accounter a puzzle of ACL setting for a CIFS share resource. In our application, we use the
administrator account to login a Windows 7 OS which is used as the CIFS client. We can access the share resource by "\\server_ip" on this CIFS client, but we can't add
a new ACE to the ACL of a CIFS share resource provided by a CIFS server.
Why dose this hanppen? Note that the CIFS server maybe a Windows OS or a self-developed CIFS server.
The operation details as followed:
1.Access the share resource by "\\server_ip", login the CIFS server by a valid account on the CIFS server.
2.On the Windows client, select the "Security" panel in the mouse-right-button properties dialog of a cifs share resource.
3.To add a new ACE for someone eg. user0, we input "user0" in the "Select Users ans Groups" dialog popped up.
4.Click OK, but the Windows client will not get the user information for user0 from the CIFS server.
WHY?
5.By wireshare network trace, we find the Windows client didn't send any SAMR requests to the CIFS server.
6.Restart the Windows client OS and login again with another account except administrator, carry out the above operations. We find that the Windows client can get the user information, opposite with the step 4 above.
WHY?
7.By wireshare network trace, we find that the Windows client has sent SAMR requests to the CIFS server to get user informations. But that is different from step 5, WHY?
If the Windows client OS is login with administrator account, is there any configuration on Windows client to decide whether request user information on CIFS server when setting ACL for CIFS share resource?

It is not very clear about what you mean about the “self-modified”, if you mean that you want to generate some additional code which could be used at runtime, this is possible since the .NET provides
CSharpCodeProvider Class which could help compile the runtime written code to memory and work with the current running process. However, this should be runtime-generated code. If you mean you want to modify the compiled code by the JITing compiler, this
is not possible, for the details reason, you could check this
discussion.

I have run into the same problem with SOA 11.1.1.5 version. In my case after fixing the following two errors it seems to work fine.
If you have followed the guide, there must be some errors:
First the java code if copied then contains an extra enter value:
Instead of:
"try {
System.out.println("Prototype for invoking an OIM API from a SOA Composite");
System.out.println("RTM Usecase: Self Registration Approval by Organization
Administrator");"
Use the following:
"try {
System.out.println("Prototype for invoking an OIM API from a SOA Composite");
System.out.println("RTM Usecase: Self Registration Approval by Organization Administrator");"
The other error is that you should not use <BEAHOME>/oracle_common/modules/oracle.jps_11.1.1/jps-manifest.jar, but the <BEAHOME>/oracle_common/modules/oracle.jps_11.1.1/jps-api.jar in jdeveloper. After these the deployment to the application server works fine for me.

Auto approval for self registration request in OIM 11G R2

Hi all,
We have a requirement where we want end users to be able to self-register without needing any sort of approval. We are using OIM 11G R2 with the latest patchset.
The way to do it in 11G R1 is explained in the following document:

But now that R2 does not have any request templates, we are not sure how to do this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
