Descriptions for Standard SAP Content

Hi All,
Recently i came across requirement where i had to implement Retail Integration. When i was researching on SAP standard content i was unable to find one single place where descriptions of all available SAP Content for PI is given.
It took me quite a lot of time to go through SAP Help and find information which was in fact scattered across different locations.
So just wanted to check if such a page exists somewhere.

You can see the entries of any table by creating a T.Code for that...means another screen (GUI) will be created...and after executing that, you can see the entries in just about any table..but be specific with the word "Triggering" shalaxy..as you want to retrieve the entries already there in the table..or you want to insert.
In any case...you have to contact the ABAPer for this.

Change description of standard SAP field

Hi All,
I am trying to change the description of standard SAP field VKBUR from u201CSales Officeu201D to u201CDistrictu201D. I changed it in CMOD Text Enhancements Data Elements. The description has changed in many places but not in transaction VA01/02/03. I looked at screen SAPMV45A-4301. Field VBAK-VKBUR has attributes u201CModification of a field from the ABAP Dictionaryu201D set to u201CFu201D. It means when description is changed in dictionary, it is not transferred to this screen. So how can I change the description of this field in these transactions.
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

In SE63 doing translating short texts for object type screen texts works.

How to display WSDL for standard SAP transactions

Hi All,
I'm going to ask this here as this appears to be where most people ask questions about WSDL.
A bit of background... I am a lapsed ABAP programmer. The last time I did ABAP (or any SAP), Netweaver was a twinkle in some shoolkids eye.
I have been asked to find a list of the WSDL for standard SAP transactions (in SD/MM) as my employer has it in his head to write his own front end to Customer & Materials master transactions.
Does such a thing exist? Am I barking up the wrong tree?
I am using an ECC 6.0 system. I have ER2 SAPGUI for html, ER2 WAS JAVA and ER2 Portal, whatever they are....

Yes, the WSLDs for all the Enterprise Service are listed in the ES Workplace.
The best part is that SAP even provides a test environment wherein you can test these services which are actually hosted in SAP's landscape.
Lets go step by step:
1) How to find out the WSDL for Service in ES Workplace:
           a) open the ES workplace http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/esworkplace
           b) Click on the hyperlink "ES Workplace "
           c) Click on the "Index" hyperlink. This would provide you the list of Process components. You can choose your             component and drill down to the level of "Service Operations". There you would find the link to the WSDL of the same.
See if you are able to achieve this.

IDOC trigger using Z change pointers for standard SAP table

For IDOC trigger, is using custom change pointers on standard SAP master data tables, a good idea? A seasoned abaper told me "it will mess with the standard" and further told to go with scheduled job.
So, for example, say that my data for table T001K is updated via transports in PRD and I need to transfer this updated data via IDOC to an external system. Since there is no standard message type for this data, I will create a new one. Further, I will create a new change pointer for table T001K (it already has six fields with their data elements activated for Change Documents). Then I link the message type and the new change pointer. And so on an so forth. I have followed the procedure given here:SAP Tips: A to Z of Custom Change Pointer
Now, the question is, will this be a good idea to capture data and trigger IDOC? Or a batch program with calls to standard FM to read CDHRD/CDPOS be a more suitable option.
I need to know if a near instantaneous data transfer (and an effecient one as far as the system performance and reliability is concerned) can be acheived. If there is any other way of doing this, I am not aware of it!
Any one has any input/experience on this?

Hi Viktor,
I think the batch program approach would be a good solution as the by this way you are taking matter into your own hands rather giving control to the SAP framework because you may have to test out the other approach as to how the standard SAP framework is behaving for custom change pointers.

I think your requirement can't be met with standard functionality. The best way to for mapping this requirement would be to create a Custom Report involving two below things.
Use the program which is called when we access Sales Order --> Environment --> Changes.
Use the table for delivery item level LIPS for Quantity comparision.
Kindly try out this approach and let us know if any further issues comes into picture.

Hi Ashish,
You can APPEND your own search help to an SAP field that has search help defined. This is similar to APPENDing fields to an SAP table.
You can also attach the search help to a field on a screen, i.e. limit the scope to that single screen, but this would still require a modification to the system, and hence, an access key.
Hence if you want to attach search help to the standard SAP field, then you will need access key for that.
If the access key will be available then you can attach your search help to the standard SAP field.

How culd b a prog. name under development field for standard SAP prog.??

Just curious that, a FI/CO prog. with name GP2I9IU2LWTB3VSHAU4K8ENBKLB100 (its associate tx is a FI/CO transaction, its S_ALR_87012993 ) noticed that, its developed & changes by here my coleague at client place-SAP customer( I mean to say that, NOT by SAP)......but, I do not undesratnd that, How it culd b possible that, its developed & changed by other than SAP!!!!! it shuld b a standard SAP tx and prog. right??
I know it happens for Z FM development, VOFM developments etc., but here how its?

This is report writer/painter program,this is not an custom ABAP program.So once anyone create report/painter with SAP tools,system generetes default program in behind the scene.And by default the USERid of owner will be created under program history.

How do we find tables for standard SAP programs?

Dear Friends!
I have received a project in which I have to create a report on the employees skill-sets(qualifications). Qualifications we can see in in the Transaction PA30 in the form of infotypes. But infotype tables are not sufficient itself. So do you guys have any idea that where else do we maintain records like this moreover how do we find tables in standard SAP Programs.

Z TCode for Standard SAP Program

Hi all,
Is it allowed by default (by SAP standard rule) to create a Z TCode for the existing standard SAP program? By doing this, I will have two transaction codes for one standard SAP program. One is the existing SAP standard TCode and the other one is the Z (custom) TCode. Both point to the same SAP standard program.
I tried to copy TCode ME22 to ZME22 but I get error message "Transaction code ZME22 not defined" when I tried run it. ZME22 was successfully created (no error) with the same setting as ME22 during copying.

yes obvoiusly you can create another t-code.
as i want to add more thing which all were missed is that you have to create parameter transaction from se93.
and give default transaction as me22 in your case.

Transport Requests for standard SAP Objects

Is there a way we can determine the list of standard SAP objects(user exits, requirement routines, etc.) that were transported. Basically I would like to get a list of Standard SAP programs(non-Y and non-Z programs) which have been modified and transported up in the landscape.
Any help would be appreciated.

Tcode for standard SAP program.

Hi All,
We created tcode for standard program RSEIDOCB, to avoid providing users SA38 in PRODUCTION.
Now when trying to run this tcode,users cant do so.They are taken back to the logon screen.The strange part is that this occurs even when we try and give SAP_ALL to the user.
Please answer what can be the cause n solution.

Looking For Standard SAP Report - Production Orders - Hours

Is anyone aware of a standard report in SAP's PP module that shows labor hours in a planned vs. actual fashion? The report that resides in a single production order via the menu path Goto -> Costs -> Analysis is great. Our Plant Managers though need a report that allows people to view orders in summary across their plant.

I appreciate the suggestions. I did try transactions S_ALR_87013127 and KRMI. Here's what I found:
- S_ALR_87013127 is good transaction our Plant Managers already use to see their performance on Plan vs. Actual for costs. Unfortunately, hours are not included on the report.
- KRMI is a transaction I had not used before. I unfortunately couldn't get any actual line items to appear.

Creating index for standard SAP tables

Hi!
What are the advantages and disadvantages of creating addtional indexes for tables with massive amount of data (BSEG, BKPF, COEP, etc...).
If I create a new index it supposed to make the table access faster, for the cost of hard disk space.
Am I right?

Primary and secondary indexes
Index: Technical key of a database table.
Primary index: The primary index contains the key fields of the table and a pointer to the non-key fields of the table. The primary index is created automatically when the table is created in the database.
Secondary index: Additional indexes could be created considering the most frequently accessed dimensions of the table.
Structure of an Index
An index can be used to speed up the selection of data records from a table.
An index can be considered to be a copy of a database table reduced to certain fields. The data is stored in sorted form in this copy. This sorting permits fast access to the records of the table (for example using a binary search). Not all of the fields of the table are contained in the index. The index also contains a pointer from the index entry to the corresponding table entry to permit all the field contents to be read.
When creating indexes, please note that:
An index can only be used up to the last specified field in the selection! The fields which are specified in the WHERE clause for a large number of selections should be in the first position.
Only those fields whose values significantly restrict the amount of data are meaningful in an index.
When you change a data record of a table, you must adjust the index sorting. Tables whose contents are frequently changed therefore should not have too many indexes.
Make sure that the indexes on a table are as disjunctive as possible.
(That is they should contain as few fields in common as possible. If two indexes on a table have a large number of common fields, this could make it more difficult for the optimizer to choose the most selective index.)
Accessing tables using Indexes
The database optimizer decides which index on the table should be used by the database to access data records.
You must distinguish between the primary index and secondary indexes of a table. The primary index contains the key fields of the table. The primary index is automatically created in the database when the table is activated. If a large table is frequently accessed such that it is not possible to apply primary index sorting, you should create secondary indexes for the table.
The indexes on a table have a three-character index ID. '0' is reserved for the primary index. Customers can create their own indexes on SAP tables; their IDs must begin with Y or Z.
If the index fields have key function, i.e. they already uniquely identify each record of the table, an index can be called a unique index. This ensures that there are no duplicate index fields in the database.
When you define a secondary index in the ABAP Dictionary, you can specify whether it should be created on the database when it is activated. Some indexes only result in a gain in performance for certain database systems. You can therefore specify a list of database systems when you define an index. The index is then only created on the specified database systems when activated

If you want to follow that route, the program name is SAPMF02K, screen 120, element list tab, references tab, search help column.
If you find another way to do this without an access key, please let us know.

Update rule not activating for Standard BI Content

Dear Reader,
I am unable to activate the BI Content update rule for sales cube. All the key figures listed in the update rule are RED.
How can i fix this?

This usually happens if if you have added new fields in the cube and if that field is not properly mapped , ie
no mapping being done but it looks like some routine there for that field but we would have not written the routine
just simply routine symbol appears in that case
if you dont have mapping assign it as initial in update rule or map them properly which will resolve your issue.
