DescriptorEventAdapter's aboutToUpdate and calling event.getOriginalObject

Hi All
We have a class extending DescriptorEventAdapter and implementing its aboutToUpdate() method to update some audit information in every object. The implementation is here.

Above implementation causing the object(being updated) having null values in it and database throws eerror complaining about NULL values.
It looks call to event.getOriginalObject() in log.debug statement updating/replacing? the object with null values
If we delete the log.debug... line then it works fine.
Any idea why/how call to event.getOriginalObject() causing this issue.

take a look at java.util.Observable and java.util.Observer. Alternatively, write your own event dispatch framework.

The solution will recieve agent and call events from Unified IP and consume them to understand the state of activity and available agents for the purpose of ICM making inbound call routing decisions.

Unable to capture startup and shutdown event of Photoshop in automation Plugin.

Hi,
I am creating an automation plugin and I want to register some events. I have seen listener plugin sample to register event in startup and unregister event in shutdown. I have used same code in my plugin but I am unable to capture the startup nad shutdown event of Photoshop. On clicking the menu item of my plugin the calls come inside the AutoPluginMain but during the startup or shutdown of plugin, the calls does not come inside the AutoPluginMain.
I am unable to detect the cause of the problem. Can someone please giude me??

Yes, I am working on Windows. As you suggested, I compiled .rc file but the compile option for .r file was disabled. After compiling the .rc file, I again rebuild the complete project and tested my build. But still I was not able to achive the desired result.

System Events (Default)
The event is passed to the application server, but does not trigger the PAI. If you have registered an event handler method in your ABAP program for the event (using the SET HANDLER statement), this method is executed on the application server.
Within the event handler method, you can use the static method SET_NEW_OK_CODE of the global class CL_GUI_CFW to set a function code and trigger the PAI event yourself. After the PAI has been processed, the PBO event of the next screen is triggered.
The advantage of using this technique is that the event handler method is executed automatically and there are no conflicts with the automatic input checks associated with the screen. The disadvantage is that the contents of the screen fields are not transported to the program, which means that obsolete values could appear on the next screen. You can work around this by using the SET_NEW_OK_CODE method to trigger field transport and the PAI event after the event handler has finished.
Application Events
The event is passed to the application server, and triggers the PAI. The function code that you pass contains an internal identifier. You do not have to evaluate this in your ABAP program. Instead, if you want to handle the event, you must include a method call in a PAI dialog module for the static method DISPATCH of the global class CL_GUI_CFW. If you have defined an event handler method in your ABAP program for the event (using the SET HANDLER statement), the DISPATCH method calls it. After the event handler has been processed, control returns to the PAI event after the DISPATCH statement and PAI processing continues.
The advantage of this is that you can specify yourself the point at which the event is handled, and the contents of the screen fields are transported to the application server beforehand. The disadvantage is that this kind of event handling can lead to conflicts with the automatic input checks on the screen, causing events to be lost.

Enhancement Summary
Two user exits are needed to determine the correct G/L Account and Cost Center on Shipment Cost documents and post the Material Group on the Accounting document. BADI_SCD_ACCTG and Business Event 1120P can be used to accommodate the new functionality.
Business Process
Specific G/L Accounts and Cost Centers have to be determined to post on the Shipment Cost document. This is needed to provide accurate management reporting capabilities on shipments for Sales Order or Stock Transfer Order. A new custom table must be created which contains the following information: Distribution, Mode of Transport, Account, Cost Center Material group. Distribution is an identifier here if this shipment originated from an SO or STO.
There are no screens involved in this enhancement.

Once the BADI determined the new values it populates field c_vfkn-sakto with the G/L account, field c_vfkn-kostl with the Cost Center and exports the Product group to memory.
There is no field on the Shipment Cost Document to store the Product group. Therefore another mechanism must be used to get the Product Group on the accounting document.
Business Event 1120P can be used to import the Product group out of memory and put it on BSEG-MATNR. Structure BSEG_SUBST must be enhanced with field MATNR for this purpose.

BADI_SCD_ACCTG Business Add-In for Shipment Cost Account Assignment
Business Framework Business Event 1120P can be used to import the Product Group from memory and to populate field BSEG_SUBST-MATNR.
This event gets called from different places. It needs to be ensured that it only populates the value when it was called from BADI_SCD_ACCTG.
Custom Table A look-up Table needs to be maintained for Distribution, Mode of Transport, G/L Account, Cost Center and Material Group

Append Structure To enhance structure BSEG_SUBST with MATNR
 Business Add-In BADI_SCD_ACCTG can be used to determine the account assignments for a shipment cost item to set the G/L Account and Cost Center. All data needed to determine the new information gets provided in this BADI.
Logic:
 Determine if STO or SO based on Document Category from internal table I_REFOBJ-VTRLP field VGTYP If is C then Distribution type is Sales Order (Primary and Secondary Excluding Refinery 2 ) else we need to check the receiving plant. If the receiving plant (I_REFOBJ-VTRLK field WERKS) is a refinery the Distribution type is Primary (1) else its a (Primary and Secondary Excluding Refinery 2 ). Refineries can be identified via Function Module ZPLANTCLASSIFICATION. The plant must be passed into Import Parameter IP_SAPPLANT and field INT_PLANTCHAR-ATNAM must be looked up with value SAPTYPE. If it exists and field ATWRT contains RFY, the plant is a refinery.
 Product Group can be determined from the Material master through Material group field MARA-MATKL.
 Mode of Transport will be passed in the BADI in VTRLK-OIC_MOT.
 Select single entry from table ZTABLE1based on Distribution, Mode of Transport and Material Group. If nothing gets selected, error message No entry exists in table ZTABLE1for Distribution (distribution), MOT (MOT) & Mat. Group (material group) should be triggered.
 Move ZTABLE1-SAKNR to c_vfkn-sakto and ZTABLE1-KOSTL to c_vfkn-kostl
 The Material group must be exported to memory in BADI_SCD_ACCTG

Google contacts and calendar events entered on my iPhone 5s are not syncing with my google account.

Newly entered contacts and calendar events entered on my IPhone 5s are not syncing to google.
Facts that may be pertinent:
- I switched from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5s and did the easy option of having it automatically set up like my previous phone, so I did not change any part of the setup. It is possible that it stopped syncing at that time, based on which contacts have synced and which haven't.
- My gmail account is set up as Exchange, with Mail, Contacts, and Calendars set to sync.
- Server: m.google.com, Use SSl is on, S/MIME is off (I don't actually know what these are, but maybe they matter?)
- Fetch New Data / Gmail account is set to Push
- Contacts and Calendar Default Account is Gmail
- In the Contacts app under Groups I have only GMAIL checked.
I've read that Google recommends CardDAV, which I gather is not the same as Exchange?
I'm afraid to delete anything and start over, for fear of losing my contacts.
Is there a difference between the gmail account I set up and what the Contacts app calls GMAIL?
If there is anything I should communicate about how things are set up on the Google end, let me know.

1)    You can make the method EH_ONSELECT as public and static and call this method in viewGS_CM/ADDDOC using syntax
    impl class name of view GS_CM/DOCTREE=>EH_ONSELECT "method name.
             or
2)The view GS_CM/ADDDOC which contains EH_ONSELECT method has been already enhanced, so I can't execute such kind of operation one more time.
                     or
3)If both views or viewarea containing that view are under same window , then you can get the instance ofGS_CM/DOCTREE from view GS_CM/ADDDOC through the main window controller.
lr_window = me->view_manager->get_window_controller( ).
    lv_viewname = 'GS_CM/DOCTREE '.
lr_viewctrl ?= lr_window ->get_subcontroller_by_viewname( lv_viewname ).
Now you can access the method of view GS_CM/DOCTREE .

I would like to know how to call event from another,
I have for the moment 5 individuals actions (manage with event structure) A B C D and E and
i need in somecase that A want to call E, B to call E or B to call E then quit on quit button.
is there a way to call ( simulate) an event call at end of first really called (by user) ?
can i use flag, event register ? i don't kow what is best solution

Using databases and container events?

I'm having trouble finding documents show how one should use databases and listen for container events? I'm using Berkley Java DB. I'll need all my remote object to have access to the database. How do I pass that in? Custom adapters? Also, when Tomcat shuts down I need to close the database, how would this be down? Custom adapters? So I may be answering my own question, but I'm asking cause I really don't see anything in the documentation that points this out. It really looks like I'd be using singletons and factories for this. I could register a Servlet or Servlet Context to listen for Tomcat events, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask others using Blaze, as I'm very new to it. Thanks.

So how would you tell Blaze to use this? Is there something you put into the config file? My thoughts on all this is to use PicoContainer to manage all services then create an adapter to inject all resources when creating remote objects. But this seems a little heavy if Blaze can do all this for me. The adapter seems like the injection point to me. Is that not what it's used for? Or is using it like that bad practice under Blaze? I've read all I can find on Blaze, so either it's missing docs, or I'm not finding them all. If I'm missing them, by all means let me know where to go. I don't want to ask questions that are already answered in documents else where.

I think it's mainly in JavaDocs but here's a sample I have where I check to make sure the HSQLDB is running as the BlazeDS starts up:

Button executing CloseWindow Java Script and raising event on server

Hi All.
Somebody can help me with this:
What i'm needing: an 'END' button on a BSP, when the user click on this button just show an aswer box asking if the user wants to close the windows, in case to click yes close the current window and execute a business logic in the controller.
What i have: a button with the event onClientClick invoking a Java Script function which is showing the answer box and the event onClick which raise the event on the server side. The thing is if the user click on yes then i'm closing the current window and the server event never is triggered. This is not working !!!
Any ideas ? some sample code ?

Hi Armando,
The 'Yes' on the Confirm dialog box (Client Side Scripting) has to tell the application (Server side scripting) to call your METHOD XXX. This is done by passing querystring exit=X to the URL.
1. Comment onClick event of the button.
2. Modify the code the JS function of your End button as follows
 func_end()
//if no
// your original code
// if yes
document.location.href = document.location.href + '?exit=X';
3. Add following code to DO_REQUEST
IF REQUEST->GET_FORM_FIELD( NAME = 'exit' ) ne space.
*your method will be called only when there is an exit=x in the url
 call method XXX.
*set a page attrib as follows
 l_exit = 'X'.
ENDIF.
4. Add following code to your layout
<%if l_exit = 'X'.%>
<script>
window.close();
</script>
<%endif.%>

Creating a screen in report program and calling that screen in program.

Hi,
I have a report program and I want to give output in different screen.
can any one tell me how to create a screen in executable program and calling that screen in program in END-OF-SELECTION for displaying results.

Hi,
Open your program in SE80. Right click on your program. Click CREATE->Screen menu. This will allow you to create screen for the program.
In the End-of-selection event call the screen using the commands CALL SCREEN or LEAVE TO SCREEN or SET SCREEN.

Difference between wait event and timed event

Hi,
Anyone has idea that what is the difference between wait events and timed events in Statspack report. I couldn't find it over google.

It's 10.2.0.1 on Linux
(Couldn't do a query, because Linux is inside VM Ware. And it is not being accessed from Base windows machine.)

ADF Drag and drop event inside the single af:treetable

Hi Experts,
I have a af:treeTable in my ADF web project and i would like to implement the drag and drop event to the same tree table for supporting my sample test project use case. Currently i am facing some issue to get the source tree node and the destination tree node of the drop and drop event inside my drop listener method. How can i get those object since i need to perform some business operation inside the listener. Please note that i am not using ADF BC4j in my project. The service layer is implemented as EJB and it's being called from the backing bean.
Looking forward some guide lines to resolve this issue from you experts.

Whenever you make a 'delete' or 'move' in the tree, call clearDisclosedRowKeys(), it will remove anything that's no longer valid, so your tree won't collapse, and you won't get the error anymore.
I took out my logging and debug statements, but essentially this just gets all the rows, checks to see if they're valid, and if so creates a new RowKeySet with the valid rows in it.
Of course make sure you have the setNavTree and getNavTree accessor's created and that they're bound in your JSFF, otherwise navTree will always be null.
I haven't yet found a way to 'nicely' find out if you're at the top level container, so i'm relying on an Exception to occur to give me that information, if anyone knows a better solution please feel free to share it.

Well I do not use a hlp file, but I open an html document and go to a target via F1. See about setHelpContext, and de.must.util.help at http://www.must.de/Jacompe.htm
