Deselected arts sound...lost kmixer,internet access

Lost internet and k-mixer when de-selecting arts sound.
Please advise steps to restore internet access.
Don't know the connection between the two!!

I do not know how to modprobe my ethernet in....
If one has kde, one can select arts control center from kde in kde multimedia.
If such is selected, a window appears which has options for arts the first one of them has a box which permits arts to be selected for use or deselected.
When I deselected arts and returned to desktop, I had no kde mixer and subsequently discovered no internet either.
Kde mixer is an option in the arts control center window on a mixer tab but it wasn't disturbed.
I do not for  one minute think it was arts that caused the loss of internet but am anxious to return internet access by any means.
I do not know how to format ..modprobe entry.... to establish internet control.
I have googled the internet and find instructions for other distros which do not work in arch so I am here to find out how to  "network Start" or repair the loss of eth0 interface.

  • Lost internet access

I have lost the internet access strip from my startup page--no address box, no google box, no
    buttons. What do I do?

It sounds to me like have hidden the Toolbar.
If it is available in the View menu, click on View > Show Toolbar.
Note that the keyboard shortcut to show/hide the Toolbar is Command-Shift-\ . (It's listed in the menu as Command-| , but at least on a U.S. keyboard that requires typing Shift and the backslash key. ) It's not too difficult to accidentally type that shortcut and hide the Toolbar without realizing it.

  • Complete wireless internet access failure:(

Ok everyone, here is the low down for the last month.
I use a 2005 ibook G4, access internet and email set up w/ Mac Mail thru my airport card and jump on wireless cafe that i live next 2. For 3 whole months, i was set up and running internet and email perfectly. I didn't change any setting, service, etc. Except the network from cafe (from linksys to RGII).
1st: as of 1/1, i lost my ability to send email thru Mac mail using wireless access (thru cafe). Error was "port 25 timed out". After spending 4 days with ISP, setting- resetting POP account and outgoing server, pinging port 25 to verify sent, scanning port 25 to verify, etc, etc, etc. This produced no resolution.
2nd: as of 1/21, I have lost complete internet access. I have run the network diagnostic to fix, no go...
SO, I took my ibook to the Genius bar at Apple store for a looksy. Sure enough some setting were off or changed, (by my own troubleshooting). After everything was checked and reset, all was A-OK (at the Store). I could access internet, received AND send email. Yippee!
NOW here is the tricky part... as soon as i got home and turned her on, I could see the airport finding networks (RGII), But when I try to access email or internet (thru Mac Mail, safari) it says my ibook is not connected to internet, same for email. I run the network diagnostic, and it can't fix problem.
When I go next door to see if the cafe is having router problems on there end...Nope everyone is accessing the internet just fine:(
This is NOT a problem with password etc, As the cafe is set up with authentication as NONE. Plus everyone there is able to use the wireless access.
So what do you propose is my problem? Remember this was all working fine for 3 months and started to fall apart this last month. In addition, to having eveything work just fine at the Apple store a mere 30mins before.
Could this be an issue with the RGII network i am jumping on?
Why would I be the only person effected and not everyone at the cafe?
ibook   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   wireless access at cafes

Though it doesn't solve your issue, I thought I'd
share that I can access many non-Apple access points
(Cisco 1200's, Linksys WAP54G's for example) with OS
10.4.4. This being so, I think we're safe to assume
the issue is not related to a recent OS update.
I'm afraid I must disagree with this. Few months back, I lost my Airport connection when I installed the 10.4.3 System Update. Fixed by restoring from backup and going back to 10.4.3. Managed to upgrade to 10.4.4 successfully and maintain wireless connection to a Compex 802.11g base station. Then I made the mistake of accepting the Airport 2005-001 update. Immediately lost my Airport connection. Other PCs can connect to the base station, and I can access the internet by connecting my Powerbook to the router using Ethernet. Can even see the Airport network and login to the router's admin page over wireless. Only thing that doesn't work is connecting to the internet wirelessly.
Once I changed my base station to an older one I had lying around, I can connect wirelessly again and all seems well.
My conclusion is that Airport Update 2005-001 definitely broke compatibility between Airport Extreme and some 3rd party base stations. The irony is that this update was supposed to "improve" compatibility !

  • Internet accessed videos aren't playing sound but sound continues to work through itunes etc (not internet)

I have watched a few online videos and played music from youtube this morning either through head phones or the computers speakers. The sound is now not playing through internet accessed videos/ games/ music etc that require sound but the sound continues to play through non internet accessed videos/ music etc. Wondering if i may have clicked something in order for this to happen?

Unfortunately I am not aware of any method to resolve this as in most cases simply loading up PC Suite then attempting to make use of its functions will prompt an update that leaves you with PC Companion anyway. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Lost internet access after 10.10.2 update

Since the OSX 10.10.2 update my iMac (late 2008) can't access the internet anymore.
    This is what happend:
Due to the incorrect installation of the OSX 10.10.2 update I had to reinstall OSX from the recovery disk. The installation went smoothly and OSX 10.10.2 is now installed.
    The Problem:
The system can't connect to the internet anymore. From my Wi-Fi router (Fritzbox) the iMac gets an IP address and it is also possible to access the routers GUI via web browser by entering the router IP. If i enter a www. address in my web browser (Firefox) i'm getting the message "no internet access". The same thing happens with other browsers or programs which want access on the Internet. But My MacBook and Windows PC can easily access on the internet, so i can exclude a problem with the router or modem.
Here's what I've tried, without success:
    - Disabled OSX firewall
    - Little Snitch deactivated
    - Disabled Avira Antivirus
    - Enter the IP address instead of www in your web browser
    - Hosts file in /private/etc deleted
    - Restarted the router, modem and iMac
    - Go through OSX Network Diagnostics
    - Reinstalled OSX 10.10.2 i
    - Little Snitch completely uninstalled
    - Connected the iMac directly to the router via LAN cable
    - Various alternative DNS server (Google, openDNS)
    - The DNS cache emptied via terminal command
    - deleted all preference files in Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration containing "wifi", "network", "nat", "preferences" and "airport"
All of these things didn't help at all and no web browser or other program is able to access the internet. Any ideas what to do further?

  • Lost localhost now all internet access

    Hi
    Os X 10.6.8 MacMini
Recently I wanted to set up a webserver so I demo'ed Mamp pro, didnt like it so moved onto Xampp and finally decided to use the one built into snow leopard. It works well and i'm pleased with it.But since then, and it may be unrelated, I've had a problem accessing localhost:8080 on Safari. I have a small app running a server on that port and the past year or more I've been able to access the front end of the app by localhost:8080. Now I cannot it gives the cannot find localhost server error. I did lots of surfing to find the answer but never found an answer.
This morning it was still unresponsive on Safari but I tried it on Google Chrome and it worked. I decided that it must be Safari at fault so I opened up timemachine and restored safari from a month ago..typed in localhost:8080 and it worked, I was well happy. But now sad because localhost is the only address that works . I have no internet access, all external address fail with the server not found error. Safari & Chrome the same.
    Please help..
If I updated to Lion would that resolve the problem??
    Tony

Recheck the policies again you have set...Might be the settings are not correct..Check this link for setting Access Restriction.
Please let us know if you still face any problem and also send the screen-shots for the Access Restriction settings.

  • After upgrade to 10.8.1, Internet access stops after approx. 50MB of traffic.

I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and when I started upgrading OS components and other apps, downloads would stop after about 50MB. Once this happens, all requests in internet browsers also lost internet access. If I turn Airport off and then on again, I can access the internet but the same problem occurs again once I continue other downloads.
I have other computers and they don't suffer from this problem, so I know if is not my internet provider or my wireless network.
    Any ideas?

Me too! I'm also getting display problems in emails where scrambled graphics are overlaid interactive parts of emails like dates telephone numbers!

  • No Internet Access on Private Network

    Hi,
I have an and ESXi Host with few VM's and i require Internet Access on these servers. This is Mini lab i have created at home.
I have My Home Broadband Router (192.168.0.1) acting as a DHCP server handing out DHCP addresses as usual.
A Cisco 3750 with 3 Vlans created with inter vlan working with the "Ip Routing" command.
    A Physical PC
    A ESXi Host
    3 Vlans:
Vlan 100               10.0.9.1/24          (Home Vlan)          Created DHCP Pool on this Vlan on 3750
Vlan 200               10.0.10.1/24        (Voice Vlan)           Created DHCP Pool on this Vlan on 3750
Vlan 300               192.168.0.2/24     (Internet Vlan)        DHCP handing out IP's from home broadband router (Uplink setup from Home ADSL router)
    3750 Switch:
    Port 1                    ESXi Trunk
Port 2                    Home PC (Vlan 100)
Port 3 – 28             Vlan 300 and all giving DHCP addresses from home ADSL router
Home PC (Vlan 100   –   IP Address 10.0.9.52)
From Command Prompt PC can ping the following:
    10.0.9.1                (Gateway)                                                        Ping Ok!!!!!
    10.0.9.2                (ESX Host)                                                       Ping Ok!!!!!
10.0.10.1              (Gateway for Voice Vlan 200)                             Ping Ok!!!!!
192.168.0.2          (Gateway for Internet Vlan 300)                           Ping Ok!!!!!
    192.168.0.1          (Home Router & DNS)                                        No Ping…..
    Cisco 3750 Switch
    This can ping the following:
    10.0.9.1                (Gateway)                                                         Ping Ok!!!!!
    10.0.9.2                (ESX Host)                                                        Ping Ok!!!!!
10.0.10.1              (Gateway for Voice Vlan 200)                              Ping Ok!!!!!
192.168.0.2          (Gateway for Internet Vlan 300)                            Ping Ok!!!!!
192.168.0.1          (Sky router & DNS)                                             Ping OK!!!!!
My assumtion is if i have these settings on my home PC:
    IP Address     10.0.9.55
    S/M               255.255.255.0
    Gateway        10.0.9.1
    DNS Server:     192.168.0.1 (Home Router)
i should get internet access on my 10.0.9.1/24 network.
IP routing is enabled and inter Vlan is working correctly. The issue I have is I have no internet connectivity on Vlan 100 (10.0.9.1/24) from my desktop PC or any of my VM's on the 10.0.9.1/24 network and internet seems to be working fine on any device in vlan 300.
I have added my Running Config an attachment to give you a better understanding.
Please can someone find i solution as i desperately require internet access on my VM's but they need to stay on the 10.x.x.x subet due to CUCM licensing.
    Kind Regards
    Zubair

    Hi,
It sounds to me like the home router (192.168.0.1) doesnt have a route back to your 10.0.9.0/24 and 10.0.10.0/24 networks.
Can you try a source ping from your 3750 switch as follows
    ping 192.168.0.1 source 10.0.9.1
If this fails you will need to add static routes on the home router for the above networks with a next-hop of your 3750 192.168.0.2

  • No Internet access BT Home Hub 5

I have a problem that has just occurred over the last 3 days. My computers, BT vision box, sky box and NAS connected to my home hub 5 via ethernet or powerline have no Internet access, they will  at times see the NAS, although currently they do not. Occasionally they will get Internet access via wifi.  All my other devices,  smart phones and tablets are fine,  via either 2.4ghz band or 5ghz band. No problems here.
On occasion attempting to access a webpage on wired devices I get a message that there has been a dns server error. Until  3 days ago everything worked fine since the purchase of the hub 5 4 months ago. I have so far tried:
    1. Restarting the hub
    2. Resetting the hub.
    Neither have worked.
    Any help appreciated.
    Steve.

Hi, thanks for the post. I've just tried to follow the instructions you've provided and on both my windows 7 and 8.1 machines the only option offered is to manage wireless connections. Is this unique to Windows 7 and 8? I don't seem to have the option to manage wired connections?
I've lost wired links to my Sky box and other devices again. Wireless remains solid...

  • Multiple Server with dedicated Internet access Network

    Hello everyone ..
Ok .. keeping it as short as I could ..
    Current setup:
2 Dell PowerEdge 2950 Servers Windows Server 2008 R2 each connected to it's own TP-Link router (TL-WR741ND) with static IP for dedicated internet connection ..
    Switch:
    Cisco Catalyst 2950 switch.
    Problems:
    1) How to connect both servers to a LAN enabling them to communicat with each other directly regadless of the separate internet access ..
    2) How to use USB-Ethernet adapter to re-configure the switch.
Any thoughts are highly appreciated ..

sounds like your dns server has stopped working or your netmask or router setting in your network config changed.
test to see if your dns failed
    ping -c 5 8.8.8.8
    ping -c 5 google.com
if 8.8.8.8 works, but google.com doesn't - then you have failed dns.
Changing your dns settings can have some consequences - so I can't provife a universal suggestion here.
In general though, your computer should be using itself for DNS (in network settings, dns, it should have 127.0.0.1 as the primary address). And your DNS server should be setup with your server hostname. Run this utility to check.
    sudo changeip -checkhostname

  • WSUS For Clients With No Internet Access

This is more of a functional question than an issue.
Right now I have WSUS set to 'Store update files locally' and it works great.  With an ever expanding number and size of updates, I don't have space to keep storing the necessary updates on my WSUS server.
If I set WSUS to 'Do not store update files locally', will my clients without internet access still be able to get updates?  Many of my devices are behind firewalls that do not permit access to the internet in any form.  I'm trying to avoid adding
    storage if at all possible.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Correct, if you set WSUS to 'do not store update files locally', then your clients without internet access will not be able to access Microsoft Update to download the files without you creating a firewall exception. Which sounds like an awkward way to do
    it.
    (1) Are you on top of your regular maintenance with WSUS, ie, declining superseded updates, running Server Cleanup Wizard in the recommended order?
    (2) Are you confident that the classification of updates being downloaded is appropriate and nothing un-needed (e.g drivers/absent OS) are being downloaded?  Have you chosen to download the space-hogging express installation files?
    (1) and (2) would be generally better practise then 'do not store updates locally', but if bandwidth is cheap or irrelevant for you, then perhaps you might be tempted to not store updates locally. In your situation where you have a reason to deny clients
internet access, it would seem like a lot of paperwork, and technical expertise, to only allow them internet access for updates.  (plus, I'm not sure it's possible, just presume it would be)
What are your numbers?  (size of WSUSContent, WSUSDatabase, space on drives?)

  • Time Capsule - how to gain "over-the-internet" access from Windows 7!

    Hi guys,
I've been fighting for such a long time with my Time Capsule. I have no idea how to gain access "over-the-internet" on a PC (Windows 7) which is running on  another network. My Time Capsule is set up with my Macbook Pro at home running Lion OSX, and i have internet connection. My brother who also uses Macbook has no problems connecting to my Time Capsule - through finder (connect to a server). But how do I gain "over-the-internet" access to my Time Capsule through a PC (Windows 7) from my office? Is there please someone who can guide me step-by-step, how to gain connection to my TC through a PC? Or maybe just an explantaion what has to be done on the PC before this thing can work out! This was the main reason to why i bought Time Capsule - besides of the Time Machine function. I also have an iCloud account (earlier Mobile Me), if that makes any difference.
    Thanks!

There is no way to do it from windows direct to the TC.
It only presents AFP to the WAN side. And most ISP block SMB from internet access due to risks. There is AFAIK, no suitable AFP protocol utility for windows at the moment. If you google and find one, be aware it probably will not work to your satisfaction anyway.
You must use a Mac to access AFP but even then it is not a secure protocol and I would recommend against it anyway.
So basically if you had have asked before purchasing, I would have said, TC is unsuitable product. It is a backup drive for a Mac. It is not a NAS.. it is not designed for remote access by any computer other than a Mac. It does not support any other file protocol to the WAN interface.. and no secure protocol even there.
A NAS with Time Machine extensions from QNAP, Synology, Netgear all are designed for web access and are far more suitable. Researching a purchase beforehand is always worthwhile.
Anyway, your choices are.. return the TC and buy something more suited to the job.
Or if return is now impossible sell the TC on ebay.. etc and do the same thing.. buy a more suitable NAS.
Or buy a cheap mac mini (even second hand) and use that for communications with home.
Or, replace your current router with something that includes vpn. This is actually a good and commercially sound decision. VPN is generally used by business to connect to remote locations, because it is secure and will allow the greatest flexibility of connection. How hard or easy depends on the current setup. I would recommend a combined modem router with vpn server if you have adsl. Or for cable you can find plenty of routers with combined vpn. You can also use those for adsl if your ISP allows pppoe with bridged modem. The TC will have to be bridged as well. For other broadband it might be harder to find the right kind of box.
Once you setup a vpn you can access it from work using the appropiate vpn client in your work computer.

  • I received a text today while at work about iCloud keychain verification code. I have not signed up for it or anything that uses it. I work out of the city with limited internet access so not sure why I would be getting this. Is my info safe??

I received a text today while at work about iCloud keychain verification code. I have not signed up for it or anything that uses it. I work out of the city with limited internet access so not sure why I would be getting this. I only got this number about a month ago. Apparently someone else had the number before because I get texts from his family members wondering whats going on. I got one yesterday and the person didn't seem to thrilled that the number was cutoff and today I got 2 texts about iCloud Keychain which I don't even know what it is. Seems suspicious to me. If the person who use to own the number is doing it he should know it is not his number anymore because he obviously didn't pay his bills.  I'm not too sure about iCloud Keychain so just want to know my info safe?? It says it can store credit card numbers which is what gets me worried. Frankly I think it's pretty stupid to save that kind if information with any kind of app. But I don't want some random person trying to access my personal information because they are bitter they lost their number.  Please let me know as soon as possible so I can change passwords or anything that is needed.
    thanks

If it were me, I would go to my carrier and get a new number. Since you have only had it for a month, the inconvenience would be minimal.

  • No internet access from my airport

         Hi there,
I have a problem with my two airport express. I'll explain first my config
I have one Router  (from the internet provider so not apple) connected to an ADSL line with ethernet hardwired Conections to both Airport express.
the to AE have the same name (SSID) and password and are configured as Create a new Network. this allow me not only to extend my Network reach but also to use the jack conections in 2 different rooms for 2 difrerent Hifi systems for the airplay feature. they are in bridge mode.
the Router from my Internet provider as a different SSID on purpose because I don't want my computer to connect to that one when I'm closer to it since I always had more transmission problems with the airplay when connected to a non apple Router. the sound is often cut while with the AE it always flows better.
the problem is that the airplay works but the internet connection is very bad, I mean it last minutes to open a page,  and if I want to surf from my computer I have to choose the other SSID and then no problem.
when I open the airport utility I can see that sometimes it's all green but the internet switch constantly from green to yelow.
I'm just in the process of changing my internet provider which means that I actually have in this moment 2 internet connections and 2 routers from 2 diff providers and therefore have made the test with boths of them with the same result.
    that's it. Any idea?
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
this is getting worse. as I was unable to solve the problem I decided to start from scratch and therefore I have reset to default values my 2 Airports.
then in my airport utility I only have the Internet access, the earth globe, and it's green, so I can surf the web by connecting to the SSID of the router of my internet provider.
then I plug into the power one airport. It appears in the left-hand upper corner of the Airport utility. I click on it ( at that moment my wifi is not anymore to the Internet router but to the airport itself) and follow the steps to configure it.
it say that it will be configured to create a network so I give him same SSID and pwd as the one from the OLO provider, it tells me to connect the cable to the Router, i do it and it goes to the next step where it asks me to switch off for few minutes the internet router and switch it on again. I do it and after a while it says that an error occured while confiring the airport.
At that moment I loose access to my airport, I does not appear neither on the Wifi panel as its MAC address (or whatever the hexa number is) nor within the airport utility as an airport connected to my internet router.
so the only way left to get back to it is to reset it again.
I did this process with the 2 airports, and met the same problem so I guess I'm doing something wrong.
    where is my mistake ?
    thanks in advance.
