Deselecting issue with Illustrator CC

I'm having an issue on my Illustrator CC version on my iMac (this issue doesn't happen on my laptop). I can't deselect an object without selecting another object. In other words if I make a box and click on the page, the box will not deselect untill I select another object. It's really frustrating. The application manager says my CC is the latest version, interestingly when I downloaded CC on my laptop it gave me an update fixing bugs, but not on my iMac?

Add to that:
If I move an object, it wont move to the new position untill I select another object.
Also if I select the brush tool or another tool, like the type tool. It wont have typed in the words until I select something else... This has to be a bug. But it's fine on my laptop!

Something is obviously wrong.
You may try the following (you may have tried/done some of them already) and see whether it helps (the following is a general list of things you may try when it is not in a specific file; 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences. If you have any difference in which other applications are running on the two machines, you may start with Item 7 in 5)):
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer;
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (irreversible);
4) Move the folder with Illy closed (reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options;
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Issue with Illustrator CS6 - can't get it to run

Since a couple of weeks ago, I have an issue with Illustrator CS6 - can't get it to run When starting the application I get the following error:

I'm running it on Windows 8 (x64). I have multiple other Adobe applications installed, which are running fine. I've tried solving the issue with reinstalling Illustrator - multiple times. My GPU driver is updated to the latest version.

I have this issue as well on my Mac and called tech support 4 times and they can't fix it. Adobe has really gone down hill in a short amount of time!!
Only thing that worked (as a temporary fix) is to create a new user and toggle back and forth between two users which is very annoying. Adobe has tried uninstalling, reinstalling, taking over my computer remotely, trashing plugins, verifying permissions but the fact remains that we bought CS6 four weeks ago and Illustrator doesn't work.
I'm going on Facebook to let others know.....don't buy Adobe, it doesn't work and they don't know how to fix.

Having issues with Illustrator files in CS5

I recently uninstalled CS4, needing the memory space. Now I am having issues with Illustrator CS5. When I go to open the program, i am receiving this error message: "Adobe Illustrator has detected a problem with the windows registry which needs to be corrected for Illustrator to work properly. Would you like Illustrator to correct the problem now?" so i click "yes" and the program opens, but then when i go to open a file, the AI icon doesnt show up on any of the files, it takes forecer to open, if it even opens the file - sometime i get the message "cannot recognize file type".

Your install never finished properly. Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall all your Adobe software from scratch with proper admin privileges and security tools turned off to prevent interference.

Issues with illustrator 10 and windows 8

any known issues with illustrator 10 and windows 8...version worked fine on windows xp....new computer with windows 8....now cannot seem to operate. Loads, and shows access but will NOT start up. help ! thanx ttp74

AI 10 is now 10 years or so old and was never tested on nor designed for Win 7 or Win 8. You should simply assume it's not compatible and will never run properly. feel free to spend your time with the compatibility modes and al lsorts of hacking with the security stuff and otehr settings, but to be honest, it will probably be a waste of time.

Issue with Illustrator Pathfinder Divide tool

Having a strange issue I've never encountered before with the divide tool in Illustrator. I use this all the time and it's never caused me any issues until I upgraded to CS6.

What I would like to do, and have done before, is to simply divid a shape using the path of a line. It should divide the shape right along the line path resulting in two shapes that are grouped together without the anchorpoints moving and changing the shape size. What's happening now when I do it is that the main shape changes form when divided and the achorpoints are moving around, resulting in two shapes that really don't 'fit' back together without tweaking the achorpoints. I mine as well create two seperate shapes and eyeball where the achorpoints should match.
In the video I just showed you what one line is doing. When I do them all it's an absolute mess. I've done this before many times and it's always worked out perfectly—not sure what is going on. I initially though I could of had 'snap to point' or 'snap to grid on' which would cause the anchor points to shift after being divided. All those options are turned off and it's still doing it.
Has anyone encountering this issue or know why it may be happening? I've tried restarting my computer to see if it was just being glitchy, but the same issue keep happening.

I know this string is out of date, but I started having the same issue after upgrading to CS6. I unchecked the "Align to Pixel Grid" box in the Pathfinder palette, and changed the document color mode from RGB to CMYK... I even created a new document and was still having issues. After repeating this process a couple of times, thinking I was doing everything right, HERE'S where I found the issue..
When creating a new document, make sure you click on "Advanced" options in the "New Document" box...
Make sure your Color Mode is CMYK (mine was RGB... and that's why that little yellow warning is there)
Select what every PPI you need
and UNCHECK the "Align New Objects to Pixel Grid" (this is the IMPORTANT part... you can't get to it AFTER you click "OK")
Now you're ready and won't have those irritating issues with Pathfinder! Yeeesh!

Updating to Mavericks issues with Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver

Since updating to Mavericks I am having problems with Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver opening files on Parallels VM and network servers. Will updating Java to 7 help? Everything worked before upgrade. Photoshop say files are empty, in Dreamweaver the document is blank and Illustrator crashes. If I open the files off my local machine everything works fine.

Update Issue with Illustrator 9.0

"Working with Illustrator 9.0 and would like to update to 9.0.2. Illustrator was installed to my secondary E drive. I realize that I must update to 9.0.1 first. The download allows me to browse for a location but E drive only shows folders for GoLive, Live Motion and PhotShop 7. Took a chance on the default location and traced it to the 9.0.1 setup file. The update pointed to e:\help then generated the message: error updating ACE.DLL has failed... return value is 38. This part is over my head. Seeking guidance

What is the problem? Something with the ClassLoader of Tomcat 4.1?

Issue with Illustrator CC, please help

I've been experiencing something weird in Illustrator CC for a while now. It became unusable.
What I've done :
Reinstall Illustrator CC
Remove Preferences in the /Users/ folder
Remove all files with the Adobe Cleaner Tool
Reset PRAM
Manually remove all traces in /Applications/

I'm a graphic designer, so it's pretty important I can use this, this is going nowhere.

It's not really a shortcut issue, but really the way everything's rendered in the canvas. Yeah, ok, cmd+Q doesn't work though (as for other shortcuts too). I can select, but everything stays selected, I can drag & drop elements, but they stay selected unless I select something else. I've searched many discussion forums, and nothing seam to help.

Color Management issues with Illustrator

Can someone help me figure out the color management issues I'm getting when printing on an Epson 3880 from Illustrator?
The image comes out severely red as evident on the face. I'm not getting the same problem when printing from Photoshop, even though I set same paper profile in printing dialog box.
I attached two printed picture (one from Photoshop CC, and one from Illustrator CC) that I took with my iphone so that you can see the printed result. Even when I try to simulate same thing using illustrator soft proofing process, the soft proof does not show me anything close to how it gets printed out. And I tried all device simulations to see if any would match it. Im using CMYK SWOP v2 for Color space in both programs.

Only an hour wasted? Lucky you. Color is an incredibly complex subject. First, forget matching anything to the small LCD on the back of your camera. That's there as a basic guide and is affected by the internal jpg algorithm of your camera.
2nd, you're not really takeing a color photo with your digital camera, but three separate B&W images in a mosaic pattern, exposed thru separate red, green and blue filters. Actual color doesn't happen until that matrix is demosaiced in either your raw converter, or the in-camera processor (which relies heavily on camera settings, saturation, contrast, mode, etc.)
Having said the above, you can still get very good, predictable results in your workflow. I have a few color management articles on my website that you might find very helpful. Check out the Introduction to Color Management and Monitor and Printer Profiling. In my opinion, a monitor calibration device is the minimum entry fee if you want decent color.

Printing colour recognition issue with illustrator created design.

I have a macbook pro with retina display and illustrator Cs 6.
For some reason, when I tried to print my illustrator designed work at the professional printing service.
it said there are colour recognition issue. I wasn't sure if that is anything to do with the Illustrator Cs6 or to do with the retina display or the printing service.
I would like to know if anyone have the same issue, and how do you resolve it.

Ahhh,
The colour mode is websafe HEX is the design work by the looks of it and the print is using CMYK mode. Try changing the document's colour mode to CMYK from RGB and see if the blue looks darker. It should do.
Take a look at the image I've attached. I've created both RGB and CMYK variations of the hex colour #0099BA.
I think it's just down to a difference in colour mode between digital version and print. There are some really great comparison sites available that will give you a close conversion if your matching spot and PANTONE® colours too.
Let me know if your any closer to a resolution please. Interested to see what the issue is.

Issues with Illustrator CS6 and Intuos5

I'm fairly new to Adobe CS and I've been running into a few issues. I've used it fairly consistently at work, but I want to branch out and do some graphic design on my own, so I bought a student license and set about teaching myself! Anyway, I got a Wacom Intuos5 medium tablet to go with this and I think it's causing a few issues. First, it seems like it's causing Illustrator CS6 to crash on launch. If I open an Illustrator document (I'm running Win7 64bit with 16gb of RAM), I get a message that Illustrator CS6 has stopped working. I close that pop-up and try to open the same document again and it opens just fine. I read in a release note that this is due to a plugin associated with Inkling, but I don't have that installed, so I'm not sure that this is what I'm experiencing. I've uninstalled the tablet and went about launching Illustrator again and it seems to working just fine. Is there a fix for this?
Second, I was just getting familiar with the brush tool the other day and noticed that when I used the tablet, the brush tool just quits drawing after about 7 seconds. So I made the same scribbles (just making figure eights over and over again) with my mouse and it seems to cut out after about 15 seconds this time. Is there something I might be doing wrong or this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, I'm running two SSDs and a 1TB HDD. I have WIN7 and other small things on one SSD and CS6 currently installed on the other SSD. Could this be an issue? I'm at work right now, but I plan on uninstalling both the table and CS6 and only installing CS6 onto my WIN7 SSD to see if this clears anything up.

I reinstalled CS6 onto my main drive and I still got the crashing on launch. It's clearly the tablet that's creating the issue. Is there anything else you suggest?

Character mapping issues with Illustrator ME

I have Creative Suite CS3 Middle Eastern version, and I'm having trouble using English numerals in Illustrator. When I try to type numerals, they show up as other characters (accents for Arabic, maybe?). I've tried inserting them through the Glyphs palate as well, but in regular fonts the same problem occurs and in fonts with alternate characters I can insert numbers by clicking on one of the alternates... but they appear in right-to-left order. I'm only interested in using English in Illustrator... any idea how to fix these issues or at least work around them?

Typing numbers in InDesign or other ME products can be done easily...
In TYPE character palette, see DIGITS, then select Arabic for English numerals, Farsi for Persian numerals and Hindi for Arabic numerals.
Select Arabic LANGUAGE and Arabic font in character palette for typing Arabic numbers. Switch to English LANGUAGE (and Arabic digits) for 1, 2 3, 4...

Issues with Illustrator CS5 Actions

I'm trying to create an illustrator action that isn't functioning properly on playback. I'm using Illustrator CS5 on a Macbook. In setting up for print production of CD's and DVD's, on what's called an OMAP; I have to copy, paste and then place the image at a specific point on the artboard. Then I repeat 143 times. I'd like to create an action that pastes and moves each of the 144 disc images to the precise x and y coordinates given. I've tried creating this action through the steps outlined below, but the result of the playback is never consistent and the images end up off the artboard. Any tips or answers are welcome.
1. Copy disc image from an existing illustrator file.
2. In the action panel of my OMAP template document I create a new action, give it a name and click Record.
3. I hit command>V to paste.
4. In the transform panel I put in the x and y coordinates
(Then repeat)
Update: I was able to create the action in Illustrator CS4 and playback works perfect. However, my client uses Illustrator CS 5 on a PC (as I use most of the time); and, the action will not play back properly in CS 5. I've updated both mine and their software to the latest version of CS 5 (illustrator 15.0.2 i believe) and this action still will not function right. Any advice/solution would be appreciated.

I think I may have it solved... or perhaps just a workaround. I duplicate the x axis coordinate in the action's playback. Then rearrange the playback to: paste> x axis coordinate> y axis coordinate> x axis coordinate. This seems to be working for some odd reason. Unfortunately, this doesn't work if the x axis is simply put after the y axis: paste> y axis coordinate> x axis coordinate. The x has to be given before y, then x again: paste> x axis coordinate> y axis coordinate> x axis coordinate = desired result. This is really strange. If anyone has a better solution, please reply. I'll update the actions for my client and see if this works in it's entirety, on windows and mac, and then update this post.

Good evening to everyone! I have an issue with Illustrator CC/Bridge CC.

When you look at the Date Created (File Properties) of an Illustrator file (any) on Bridge always appears the same creation date, no matter what, no matter where the file is saved. But taken a look ant the code of the file, the created date is correct, doing the same whit Get Info, also the date is correct. Any clue of what is happening with these apps? I'd tested the others CC apps an none do that. Thanks for any clue.

InDesign issue with Illustrator files

I used CS3 without any issue until a few months ago.
Using CS6 on Mac now I have some problems importing Illustrator files into InDesign. When I export to pdf or jpg they became transparent or invisible.

For the pdf I use the Gent PDF Workgroup - 2005 Specification Version 3.
