Design Capture of Oracle Forms

I can successfully capture an Oracle Form built by Forms Builder into a Module in Designer 9i. When I generate the Form based on the reversed Module Data Diagram, the generated Form does not have the same user-interface at run-time. For example, the tool-bar for records navigation does not appear.
Can any one tell me whether it is possible to capture application logic as well as exact layout from a Form?
Is it possble to capture Oracle menus?
Any help is appreciated.

"...the tool-bar for records navigation does not appear"-I think that you have to create a template form and put toolbar there.
I hope this will be a little help for you.

  • Pop Up menu - Oracle Forms

    Hi there,
I am stuck with a pop up menu, not displaying correctly the columns, when it launches the designated report - via oracle forms and is there any way to ensure that the items displayed on the form are displayed the same way in a report through the pop up menu?
    Example :
ets say on the screen(oracle forms) if you see "Name, place, animal, thing" and when you click on block report all(block report all is the pop up menu on my form), I am seeing "place, animal, thing, name" as opposed to "Name, place, animal, thing" . Is there any way to ensure consistency.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance
    S

Sorry, but i didn't get your requirement? What is "Name, place, animal, thing" is this the order of items shown in your form, or is it the order of records queried into your form?
And what is the thing you want get the same sorting for. Is it the same set of data to be displayed in the report. If its for sorting data, you will have to provide an ORDER BY both on your forms-block and your reports-query.

  • Oracle Forms migration to JDeveloper

    Hi everybody,
We got here a large pool of Oracle Forms and PL/SQL savvy resources. They mainly use Oracle Designer to generate Oracle Forms applications. Occasionnaly, they tweak the generated forms with PL/SQL triggers to adapt the application for special needs.
Now, they would like to go towards applications with HTML front-ends. With the advent of JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5), it might be the right time. With the ADF framework, screen painter, design time components, etc... there should be an easier learning curve for people with no java experience. Yes, we expect a couple of guys that should be very Java savvy but it should not be required for the entire pool of developer resources.
Personnaly, I investigate the business tier (or data tier) to identify changes in the development methodology required to address the java environment.
Currently, a good part of the business rules are defined within the database through the use of triggers. Should it stay the same with the use of ADF BC4J ? I mean, is there some situations where some kind of business logic or validation should reside within the BC4J model for the sake of performance or ease of development with ADF and the design time components? Maybe I should duplicate in java (within BC4J) some kind of validations like we used to do with Oracle Forms (through PL/SQL form triggers) to give the user a better UI response?
    I need some guidelines here.
    Thank you

    Thanks Prasoon for you suggestions.
We're not heading toward application conversions from Forms to J2EE. Instead, we're thinking development methodology transformation from Designer/Forms to J2EE. But, in the beginning we're trying to minimize the efforts needed to learn the java (and J2EE) complexities. In the middle/long term, the developers should apply the correct techniques to build web applications with the right tools and proven J2EE standards.
Right now, we're looking at the Designer ADF Business Components Generator comming with JDeveloper 10g to see to what extent we can reproduce in BC4J what we can define in Designer for a module. In the first time, we intend to continue module definitions in Designer (instead of UML Activity or Class diagram). That part should sufice for the database definition and the model layer. For the view layer, I think that the new screen painter in JDeveloper can be used the same way the developers used the screen designer in Oracle Designer. That leaves the Struts Page Flow for the controler layer.
We know that JDeveloper has not evolved yet to the level of what Oracle Designer can do. There is a certain amount of stepping back in the design of an application. But we think we must step in the J2EE world some day and maybe JDeveloper 10g give us that opportunity. After further evaluation, if we think the gap is too large, maybe we'll wait for a next JDeveloper evolution.

    Ramana,
Although you eventually want to use JHeadstart, reverse engineering forms to Designer is not an issue within the scope of this forum.
Could you please post this issue in the Designer forum, or log a Metalink issue?

    1. "Generate" menu from designer editor --> "Capture design of" sub menu--- > "form" sub-2 menu.

  • Unable to run Oracle Form Builder from Designer 10g

I am using Windows XP with Oracle Designer 9.0.4.5. From Design Editor, I select Run -> Oracle Forms, nothing happen. I am able to open Form Builder manually (C:\ORACLE\904\bin\ifbld90.exe). After I generated a module (form) from Designer, I have to open the FMB manually from Form Builder. In Designer 9i, I am able to open Form Builder from Designer. Is this a bug for Designer 10g?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Thanks for the response, Suresh,
I believe this is an installation/configuration issue.
I installed Oracle Developer Suite 9.0.4, which includes Form Builder, Report Builder, and Designer. System Path contains the ORACLE_HOME (c:\oracle\904\bin). I am able to start Form Builder from DOS command (ifbld90.exe). I am also able to start Report Builder (rwbuilder.exe) and Designer (des2k61.exe) from DOS. I am able to Run Oracle Report Builder from Designer, but just not Form Builder. I also checked the Windows registry settings and they seem alright to me.
    thanks,
    Jim

  • Error: Oracle Forms Designer has stopped working

I have read a lot of different responses regarding this and related issues but none of the answers seem to be relative to my specific problem. Here is what I have done so far:
    a. I just finished loading Oracle 11g 64x enterprise on my laptop running windows 7. It loaded correctly and I was able to import my 10g data dump and set up my schema.
    b. I then installed the Oracle development suite: ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1 and disk2. There were some minor issues regarding compatibility but following the advise of one post, I checked the blocks in question and the software loaded fine.
    c. I also attempted to install the p5969392_10123_WINNT.zip file but it gave a message indicating that no updates applied. (I am not sure if this is the correct patch or not?)
    d. I also had to download and install the Sun SDK, v6.18.
    e. I also updated the ORACLE paths in the default.env and registry entries and tried different urls in the runtime preference block. Nothing helped and I stayed with the default.
Oracle Forms seems to startup correctly and I am able to connect to the database with no problem. Although I did not build a new form completely, it appears that this would be no problem.
    The problem:
The problem is that when I attempt to open a form that was previously developed in 10g on XP, I immediately get the "Oracle Forms Designer has stopped working" error and Forms Builder shuts down. I get the same error whether I attempt to open a library, menu, or form.
I have tried changing the compatibility mode from XP, service pack 3 (the default after install) to XP, service pack 2 but it made no difference.
If anyone has been able to work through this issue, please let me know how. Thanks

  • Help for designing the same forms like Oracle form!!!

    Hi everyone!
I am working for some projects and now I want to make a form like Oracle form, there are some features in Oracle form that I don't know how to do the same so I would like to ask someone here. Please help me to design form like the form I mention below. I mean when I open my form, it must be the same with Query Material after that I press Enter then it must be the same Material Workbench form. Please help me!!! Thanks in advanced.
Inventory => On-hand Availability => On-hand Quantity, it will display Query Material Form then Enter after that it will display Material Workbench.

Hi, welcome to the forums. Please take a few minutes to reveiw the following:

If you follow these general guidelines, you will greatly increase your chances of getting a solution to your question in a shorter period of time. While your questions may make sense to you - when you post a question here, you have to remember that we do not have the same point of reference as you. You can't assume we will understand vague references like *"I want to make a form like Oracle form"*. I've seen so many different UI variations in Oracle Forms that a blanket statement like this has no meaning. The only thing that limits the funtionality of a Form is your imagination.
Perhaps, after reviewing the aforementioned articles, you could provide us with some basic information like your Oracle Forms version, Browser and version, OS and version and a more detailed description of the type of functionality you are trying to emulate. With this information, we (the Forum participants) will be better able to help you.

  • Design a Oracle Form

    Hi Experts,
I am Atul Ramteke working on oracle apps Technical.
We all know when we want to develop a customize form in oracle apps we use Oracle Forms builder and upload this form to Oracle EBS.
This is one way of doing the customization, But what if i want to create a JSP page, Is there any tool for developing JSP pages, or web pages with e-bussiness suiteR12.1.3?
Is Jdeveloper supports this feature? What about Oracle forms 11g??
    Any help would be appreciated??

  • Coverting Oracle Form to JSP

    Hi,
I have one form designed in Oracle Forms 9i, I want to convert it to a .JSP. I believe I can do it using JHeadstart, this is all that I know. Could you please tell me, where can I download it from and once I have it, what steps do I need to follow for the conversion ?
    Thanks!
    Shalu

    Shalu,
At this moment JHeadstart does not generate the JSP but uses UIX as the view implementation. JSP generation is high
on our list of enhancements but UIX does the Job. If you have a form that is not generated out of Designer you should reverse
engineer (design capture) your tables and form in Designer and then run the JHeadstart Designer Generator.
For more information see the viewlet and the developersguide on the JHeadstart page here at OTN.
