Design change or install problem

My upgrade to Aperture 3.01 went relatively smoothly. It is now up and running and generally I am satisfied. There are two annoying issues and I am wondering if they are a design change or related to a problem with my install.
I can not scroll through the full screen images using my scroll wheel. Thumb nails scroll fine but larger images do not respond.
I can no longer see my aperture library in my desk top setting to select images for background display.
Am I along here or is everyone else who upgraded now missing these features?

Not sure what you are using to scroll, but I can confirm the two-finger swipe using the Magic Mouse does scroll through the images in fullscreen mode as well as the thumbnails in the browser.
As for Aperture not showing up in the System Preferences -> Desktop, they may not be there immediately when you first install Aperture as the Desktop function seems to need to be refreshed. I would think if they do not appear, restart the computer and you will see them. There will be a disclosure triangle for Aperture that you need to open to reveal your projects etc.

  • 8.1.6 and designer 6i post install problem - please help

    Hello all,
I installed designer following the install guide extremely closely. The install went off without a hitch. However, when I try to create and ERD, or any diagram, I receive this error:

I'm fairly new to Oracle but I did have designer 6.0 working on 8.1.5.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Damon

The same happened to me. It turns out that it had something to do with old windows registry entries that let the repository install program know that I had designer 6.0 previously installed on my system. The install apparently isn't wise enough to know that it is installing 6i. It checks the registry for the first Designer version identified and decides what repository components you need based on that. 6i uses the standard repository components (6.0 versions) and some new stuff.
If you read your install documentation carefully (Chapter 2, Step 14, Item 2), you will note that you need to select two components to install. If the repository
admin utility is <prior-version-aware> it neglect to even display one of those options and its easy to blow right past that screen without realizing something is amiss (that's what I did ;-P ).
    Hope this gets you going,
As with any Oracle product install

  • CS4 crashes when you try to change layer order, is this install problem?

I am trying to install my version of ps cs4 onto my new macbook pro. The install goes well and everything works, except when you click on the layers to change the order photoshop will force quit. Is this an install problem, or is there an upgrade that I missed that is making this happen.
    Thanks,

Does anyone know what could be causing this error?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    George

First off: Keep in mind that CS3 was never tested or certified for W7. Problems are to be expected - works for many users, but you may be part of the fraction where it doesn't. That said, there's a million things that could go wrong from security stuff like UAC getting in the way to virus scanners to more general permission issues, including with temporary files required for install. I suggest you read this article and see if anything might be relevant. If that doesn't yield any improvment, we may require the install logs (also explained on my pages) and some more info about where you are trying to install and possibly the computer specs....

    2) XE Forum. If you have XE working and can get to the web page, you should see the link to register for the XE forum. You must register and then 'sign in' to see the XE forum. The link on your XE home page should point to http://www.oracle.com/technology/xe/registration'
    1) What's the difference ... ?
OK ... here we go ....
Oracle has hundreds of products. I like to group them into 'technology' and 'application' products.
The 'technoloy' products I group into
    - data management == database
    - data access == applicaiton server (fusion)
    - data manipulation == developer tools and languages
    - data sharing == collaboration suite
Without data access, the data management and data manipulation is plain 'client-server' stuff.
With data access, you stick an application server (web server, J2EE server, other server) between the client and the database.
The Oracle Application Server is a collection of Oracle technology designed to support n-tier computing. The technology includes:
    - http server (Apache stuff)
    - reporting server
    - portal server
    - forms/data entry server
    - generic J2EE server
    - BPEL and SOA orchestration
    - Web Services server
    - workflow and intergration server
    - centralized security and single sign-on server
    and a lot more.
The Oracle database, of course, stores and manages data. Oracle now has many 'database managers', including
    - Oracle Database == the traditional one
    - Times Ten == in memory only, but very high speed
    - Berkeley == embedded (to be included as part of your application)
    - Lite == for laptops and remote devices
    and more
The traditional Oracle database has many features. These features may not be needed by all organizations. So Oracle has created several editions. These are Express, Standard Edition One, Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition and Personal Edition. In the order presented, each adds more feature than the one before but includes all the features from the one before.
The Express Edition has the fewest features and the simplest install. It has no official Oracle support and has size limitations (4GB data max, only runs one 1 CPU). It includes Application Express which allows you to access the data from a web browser. I think of this as 'Microsoft Access, with Oracle multi-user reliability, on the Web'.
The Standard Edition One has everything from Express and adds: Java in the database, ability to use up to 2 CPU, many more features such as multi-media storage, no data size limit. It also changes the install to use the Oracle Univeral Installer.
Standard Edition adds Real Application Cluster to allow up to 4 CPU to be used, whether the 4 CPU are on one, two or four machines.
Enterprise Edition adds many high availability and scalability features to ensure the database will try to stay up all the time and will be able to handle many hundreds or thousands of users. Many DBA features are added to allow detailed tuning and management. And many options such as Partitioning, Label Security and Spatial can be purchased and added to this edition.
Personal Edition includes all of Enterprise Edition AND all of the Enterprise Edition options except Real Application Cluster. It is designed to be used by the Oracle developer so it is very inexpensive (in comparison to the Enterprise Edition) but it is limited (by the honor system) to one user access.
So when you use Express Edition, everytthing you do can be done in Enterprise Edition as well. Express Edition is a great learning tool for getting comfortable with the commercial Oracle database. It is also a great tool for developing applications for small organizations or even for home use. A great tutorial for XE is at http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/tutorial/DBXETutorial/index.htm
All of this is described in a few pages of documentation (about 70 thousand) at http://docs.oracle.com. If you want to understand Oracle well, you may have to spend a bit less time with the nuns for a while.

  • What is the best design pattern for this problem?

No code to go with the question. I am trying to settle on the best design pattern for the problem before I code. I want to use an Object Oriented approach.
I have included a basic UML diagram of what I was thinking so far.
Stated simply, I have three devices; Module, Wired Modem, and Wireless Modem.
In the Device Under Test parent class, I have put the attributes that are variable from device to device, but common to all of them.
In the child classes, I have put the attributes that are not variable to each copy of that device. The attributes are common across device types. I was planning to use controls in the class definition that have the data set to a default value, since it doesn't change for each serial number of that device. For example, a Module will always have a Device Type ID of 1. These values are used to query the database.
    An example query would be [DHR].[GetDeviceActiveVersions] '39288', 1, '4/26/2012 12:18:52 PM'
The '1' is the device type ID, the 39288 is the serial number, and the return would be "A000" or "S002", for example.
So, I would be pulling the Serial Number and Device Type ID from the Device Under Test parent and child, and passing them to the Database using a SQL string stored in the control of the Active Versions child class of Database.
The overall idea is that the same data is used to send multiple queries to the database and receiving back various data that I then evaluate for pass of fail, and for date order.
What I can't settle on is the approach. Should it be a Strategy pattern, A Chain of Command pattern, a Decorator pattern or something else.
    Ideas?

    Hi Ben,

Good. At least you will not be smaking with a OPPer dOOPer hammer if I make some gramatical mistake.
You may want to look at this thread in the BreakPoint where i trie to help Cory get a handle on Dynamic Dispatching with an example of two classes that inherit from a common parent and invoke Over-ride VIs to do the same thing but with wildly varying results.
The example uses a Class of "Numeric"  and a sibling class "Text" and the both implement an Add method.
It is dirt simple and Cory did a decent job of explaining it.
It just be the motivation you are looking for.

  • Adobe PS CS4 Install problem

    Hi Guys:
I had an installation and I was seeming to have computer problems after (mainly getting photoshop to print a pic), so I uninstalled, and then went to reinstall.  The program goes through the install routine, but it doesn't allow me to change the install folder or enter my serial number, and when it is approx 1/4" from the end of the install as shown by the progress bars, it suddenly finishes, and the gives me the following message:
    "Done, with errors"
and it shows that several files including PS CS$ were successfully installed
When I go to the button at the bottom for more details, it says:
Adobe Photoshop CS4 English Language Pack
    Error:
    Error 2
    Language Pack (English)
    Error:
    Error 2
**I have done the uninstall PS CS4, then restart the computer, reinstall routine multiple times and always the same error.
When I actually try to start PS CS4 from the start menu I get this message:
Some of the application components are missing from the application directory, please reinstall the application.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thank You

  • Eclipse BPEl Designer -Changes to bpel.xml not saved

    Hi
Is it possible to save changes made to bpel.xml file while using Eclipse? I was trying to set up preference properties in that file.
    Any say?

According to our experience, JDEV BPEL Designer encoutered the same problem, you'd better modify the bpel.xml descriptor using external editor such as ultraedit, and save it.
Modification of bpel.xml works fine for the first time, but often rolled back to the former edition once I restart the JDEV designer. Guess it is a bug.

Okay, I assume you've successfully installed the Designer client and now you are trying to install the Designer repository. Have you completed the pre-requisites for installation? This includes granting some privileges to the repository owner, and making sure that you have installed an Oracle client (in a separate Oracle Home) that corresponds with your database. You have to set some Windows registry variables to point at a version of EXP and IMP that matches your database. The Repository Administration Utility has a module that checks to make sure these requirements have been met. Also, step by step instructions have been published in this forum several times. Here's a recent list:
    https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=9598195&#9598195
By the way, Mark asked you what database version you are using for your repository. Please - we have a lot easier time helping you if you give as much information as you can. Finally, why are you installing an old version of Designer? Install the latest one.

  • CS5.5 Install Problem.

Have CS5.5 Design Premium. Installing is no problem. But after ist some of the chosen programs are installed correctly, for some there is only a folder, but no program.
This is not solvable by reinstalling components.
Its a mac. OS is latest.
    Any ideas?

I too am trying to install Adobe Audition CS5.5 on a Win7 64bit box but cannot get past the "installer failed please download Adobe Support Advisor which is course is no longer available. And from the looks of the date on you request for help, there is none forthcoming for you and me both. So much for support and purchasing any other Adobe products. They obviously don't need us small guys do they?

There is a problem in that PKGBUILD. The make shouldn't be in the package function. It should be in the build function, just after qmake-qt4.
And the qmake project hard codes the destination to /usr/sbin. In that case, the correct PKGBUILD should be:
    # qt4-fsarchiver by Francois Dupoux, Hihin Ruslan and Dieter Baum
    # PKGBUILD by hasufell, updated by DaarkWel
