Design in Pages, E-mail Design?

I am trying to figure out how to e-mail something I have designed in Pages as an E-mail. In other words I don't want it to be an attachment that someone has to click on I want it to be something that someone views when they open the e-mail. I also want to include images in the design along with hyperlinks that people can click on and it will take them to the website. I tried saving it as an html but that was a mess and it still only attached it, not inserted it into the body of the e-mail. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum Sean.
To do this you will need to send a Pages document in a HTML format. And as Barbara notes, this won't work for every recipient as many tell their email program not to display HTML for security reasons. That is, spammers embed links to uniquely named images on their web page to confirm they have found a real email address. Everyone, even Mac users, should stop images from being displayed in email messages, even if they're happy to receive HTML formatted messages.
Another issue to consider is that Pages doesn't output HTML well. The look of what you design in Pages will not survive the conversion to HTML. It will look quite a bit different and require you to manually edit the HTML to fix it. For this reason, I'd recommend not creating HTML documents in Pages. If you have iLife '06, use iWeb instead. It produces much better HTML documents. There are other products you can use too. like Netscape Composer, Mozilla NVU, HTML text editors like skEdit, Adobe Dreamweaver, etc.
The alternative is just to create a Pages document, convert it to a PDF, and attach it to the email (or provide a link to it on your web site). Then you can guarantee the formatting will be exactly what you want, and will be what they see when they open it. This does require your user to have one of the many free PDF readers installed on their computer (almost all have). It also requires you to be using Mac OS X 10.4.4 or newer so that shadows and links are not destroyed when the Pages document is converted to PDF.

  • On iMac Lion where are the fractions in Pages and Mail?  They used to be under "characters" in the "Edit" drop down menu, but they aren't there anymore.

Since downloading Lion, I am unable to find fractions in the edit>special characters submenu anymore (for Pages and Mail).  Anybody know where they went to?

You could use the Auto Correction in the Pages preferences. There are several pre defined fractions. You have just to check them so you can use them in Pages. I can't help you with Lion as I don't have it.

iPad- on all Yahoo pages the mail icon with the red number indication shows email.  When I tap, it asks me to sign in again. I do. It takes me to yahoo mail but there is nothing.  All the folders are emptied. All my mail is either read, trash, or deleted. Also, when I tap on the mail app on iPad home page, gmail is no problem but for yahoo I get error: no password for yahoo. Go to Mail Account Settings and enter password.  I'm stuck. Suggestions?  Thank you.

    Ask and you shell receive.....lol
Go to your Gmail account in the browser.
Hit the folder icon that brings up the folder selection.
Scroll down to the bottom and select desktop version.
The broswer will refresh and bring up your gmail account as though you were looking on it on the computer.
The go to the upper right corner and select settings.
Then go to forwarding and pop/imap
    Go look at pop download
There you'll find 3 numbered lines
    Go to 1. Status
And select enable pop for all mail
    Then save the settings
Once you have done that you can go back to BlackBerry device settings and sync your mail or wait for it to sync it's self.
Let me know how it works out.
I just did it and it sync within minutes.

  • Creating PDFs using Pages and Mail

    Hi,
I'm  a contractor and I use Pages and Mail to to create PDFs of invoices that I email to clients in the form of attachments. I have Mail set up to to send only Windows friendly attachments, and to put them at the end of emails. I have one client, the facilities director of a large community college, who consistently cannot open the attachments; he can read the text of the emails, but he cannot open the attachments. He has to send them to his IT department, where they use a mac computer of some kind to open the attachments, which they send them back to him. I've discussed this with their IT department, and they've told me that they have to use a mac to open my attachments. If anyone can offer some advice on this issue, I'd appreciate it.

I know from my own experience that although there should be no problems with Mail's attachments, just once in a while recipients have the problems you describe.
The solution that worked for me 100% reliably was to install the paid for plug-in Attachment Tamer from: lokiware.info
You can use it for free to test it before committing to purchase, but I'm pretty sure all your recipients will be able to cope with all your attachments.
To elaborate, I used to have to send numerous attachments every day to mostly PC users. Randomly some would complain that I'd either forgotten to include the attachment (I hadn't) or they couldn't read it/open it/save it, etc. It's quite likely the fault was in the way their email client was configured. All I know is that as soon as I installed Attachment Tamer (it was Mail Attachments Iconizer back then) I never had any more complaints. For the knowledge that I wasn't going to be pestered into trying different ways of sending the files I was happy to pay for the plugin.
(Usual caveat: I have no connection with Lokiware, but very happy to recommend their product).

  • How do i get a document from 'Pages' to 'Mail'? iused to work by using 'Share' from the menu?

How do I get a document from Pages into mail?

Open Finder, find the file you want to email, right click on it, choose Share>Mail
Alternatively, if you're already composing an email in Mail and want to add the file as an attachment, choose the attach button on the right of the new message's header and navigate to the file and select it.  You can also click on File in the menu bar of a new email you're composing and choose "Attach Files" and navigate to the desired file.

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flash Block</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
You can use one of these to start Firefox in <u>Safe mode</u>:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
*On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
*Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • How do I investigate and solve Pages, Notes, Mail intermittent 'offline' and failure to synchronise problems with Mountain Lion after waking from Sleep

When I wake up my iMac after sleep, i get a variety of intermittent - but mostly FREQUENT and FRUSTRATING problems including:
Notes app is offline - as stated by a message in the window bar. If I close Notes and reopen, the app appears to be online. However, Notes does NOT update with items I know are on my iPad or in the web iCloud. Furthermore, if I create a new note on my iMac, the new Note does not upload to iCloud. This is IRRITATING!
Pages and Numbers - similar situation. I can edit a Pages or Numbers document on my iMac (stored on the iCloud). But then the Pages doc doesn't ALWAYS get uploaded to the iCloud. Then I end up with conflicted versions of the file in the cloud, my iPad, and the two iMacs I use. Then I get CONFUSED and FRUSTRATED. For example, consider these steps:
Open Pages on my iMac, edit an iCloud file, then save and close file
Pages/File/Open/iCloud - I note in the iCloud file list the edited file has a little 'cloud' icon against its name. From experience this warns me of TROUBLE - namely that the file has NOT yet been uploaded to the iCloud. However, I just checked the new Beta iCloud on the web, and to my surprise, the file edited on my iMac is apparently in the icloud. But now, I edit the iCloud version, and the changes DO NOT appear on my iMac pages version. OK I realise its in Beta version...
So now, I open my iPad, open Pages. I note the iCloud version of my edited document updates to my iPad, as indicated by a blue download line. 'It just works' as Steve Jobs claimed at Apple Developers Conference a couple of years back. Again, the edited version form my iPad is now 'up in the cloud' correctly....
Oh - and now mysteriously the Pages version on my Imac has become synchronised with my iPad/iCloud version! Luck ... but that's about all I can say. It doesn't always happen. I'm LUCKY today.
Meanwhile, the Note I created on my iMac (Item 1 above) has still not yet appeared on my iPad or iCloud... even though I HOPE it would be given that Pages on my iMac, iPad and iCloud are chatting nicely now! The Note says it's in my iCloud - but  NOT. Similarly, notes updated or added on my iPad, which appear in iCloud, are NOT on my iMac.
Mail - last but NOT LEAST! and MOST INFURIATING!!! My Gmail, Vodafone NZ and Orcon accounts (in Mail) are all active and receiving after the night's sleep. However, my iCloud mail account has the dreaded offline.
The message on Mail is "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “ICloud - [email protected]” or try again. The server returned the error: The server “p03-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993." Despite the message, mail was received this morning at 8:59 am ... some time before I woke-up my computer (a late start this morning).
If I sent an email FROM my .me iCloud account TO my Vodafone account, the message whooshes away, it's in my SENT box. But it doesn't get delivered to my Vodafone account on my iMac Mail, or anywhere else, Despite the message being listed in my 'Sent' mailbox!!!
In contrast, a message sent from my Gmail account to my Vodafone account (in Mail) gets sent and received almost instantly on  my iMac and iPad.
All of the above mishaps are extremely frustrating, as I rush off from working on my iMac at home, get to my iMac at work and find documents I have been updating on my home iMac not available correctly on my work iMac ... or even my iPad. I expect these things from Apple to 'just work'. Furthermore, emails I THINK I have sent (as indicated by them appearing in the Sent folder on my home iMac) ... have not actually been despatched.
Frankly, I can no longer rely or recommend the Apple iCloud stuff, so I am converting more and more to relying on DropBox and Google.
These problems only became apparent since I updated to one of the Mountain Lion versions... I can't say when.
Oh - if I shutdown and restart the computer my Mail works OK. Guess what, I don't want to do that each time I want to use Mail!
    Technicals:
My iMac is connected by Ethernet cable to my Apple TimeCapsule. The TimeCapsule is connected by Ethernet cable to my Orcon Genius Modem.
Obviously, my internet connection is A-OK, as I am able to use Firefox to make this posting!
    Mountain Lion 10.8.4
iMac 27 inch, mid 2010, Intel Core i5 16 Gb

I've returned to my sleeping iMac after a few days away. Tis time, ALL MAIL accoiunts are offline. I will follow you next set of instructions. In the meantime, here is the DETAIL from MAIL CONNECTION DOCTOR:

  • Lion 10.7.4 removed Pages and mail

Uploaded 10.7.4 and it not omly removed unsupported Powere PC apps it took PAGES and knocked out my mail accounts. I reloaded MAIL accounts but Pages is GONE.
    Not so smooth guys.

You need to install Java on Lion, it doesn't come by default. To do so, open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal, app) and type
    java -version
You will get a prompt to install it. After it's installed, go to
    Applications > Utilities > Java Preferences.app
Click 'General' tab and check the 'Enable' box.

  • Problems with pages and mail merging from Address Book

hey guys. I have just created an invitation using one of the templates in Pages. this template is for four postcard size invites on one sheet of A4. i want to merge addresses from my address book. i can do the merge except that rather than four different contacts on each page i end up with four of the same on each page before it moves on the next contact on the next page. what i want to do is for it to merge one address per postcard. in Word i would put 'next' as the last field in the merge fields but i cant find a similar command in Pages. please can some advice?

I don't use Address Book for mail merging, but I tested this on a four page document and it worked for that so maybe it will work for your postcards. First, do your merge with full size pages and one address per page. Then in the print menu select Layout (drop down from Copies and Pages) and set it for 4 per Page (any direction you wish). That should print four different addresses on one sheet.

  • How to send inline HTML page in mail(not as attachment)

    Hi,
I am using JavaMail to send details to users using text mail. Its working successfully. But now i have to send the details on mails that will contain HTML page (not as attachment but as inline HTML page containing text) and details in it. Plz help me. Its urgent.
    Thanks in advance,

Set the contentType to "text/html" and send away.
(If you need both text and html you will need to make a multi-part message), this is covered in the FAQ.

  • When I try to send a Safari web page via Mail, Mail locks up!

No matter how I try to Email a Safari web page (using the share arrow icon or the mail icon or the File menu), Mail locks up.  Then I have to Force Quit Mail and send the report to Apple.  There must be a bug somewhere, but I can't figure out where!  I have closed and restarted Safari, closed and restarted Mail, restarted my Mac Pro - all to no avail.  I have every update installed - and, in fact, the latest update to Mountain Lion is the culprit, as I didn't have this problem before I installed it!  Is it possible to uninstall this latest update?  Help!!!

You're suffering from two common misconceptions.
    1. You will never get a response from Apple when you submit a crash report. The reports are used internally, if at all.
    2. This is not Apple tech support. This is a forum provided by Apple for users of its products to discuss technical issues among themselves. No one here represents Apple or knows anything about your contacts with Apple. If you want support from Apple, click the Support link at the top of this page.

  • Send printer friendly page per mail

    Hello everybody.
I'm very new with APEX and I couldn't find an answer to solve my problem:
I have a printer friendly page with several text elements and a report so that it nearly looks like a letter in the end.
Now I want to send this page as a "pdf-attachment" per mail when pressing a button.
I already noticed the "add_attachment"-procedure in the APEX_MAIL package, but how do i get my actual printer friendly page stored in a BLOB-column in my DB to use this procedure?
    Thanks in advance
    Carsten

    Carsten,
There are several different version of the get_print_document function, e.g there's this one:
    APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT (
    p_report_data IN CLOB,
    p_report_layout IN CLOB,
    p_report_layout_type IN VARCHAR2 default 'xsl-fo',
    p_document_format IN VARCHAR2 default 'pdf',
    p_print_server IN VARCHAR2 default NULL
    ) RETURN BLOB;
So you could store both the XML and XSL in a CLOB. But it might be easier to get started referencing actual report queries and report layouts, which you store under shared components and then use this API:
    APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT (
    p_application_id IN NUMBER,
    p_report_layout_name IN VARCHAR2,
    p_report_query_name IN VARCHAR2,
    p_report_layout_name IN VARCHAR2 default null,
    p_report_layout_type IN VARCHAR2 default 'xsl-fo',
    p_document_format IN VARCHAR2 default 'pdf',
    p_print_server IN VARCHAR2 default null
    ) RETURN BLOB;
Using pre-defined report queries and layouts ensures that you don't run into issues with your custom XML and XSL data.
The error message "500 Internal Server Error" is a standard Java error message that doesn't tell you anything. Maybe you could find more info in one of your log files. Are you using BI Publisher? Apache FOP? Or some other rendering engine?
    Regards,
    Marc
