Design interface is very slow
Hello,
I'm using this beta on a Windows XP SP2 with 1Gb of memory
and Intel Core 2 1.86Ghz cpu.
The application I created is very basic: has only 2 buttons
and nothing else.
If I select both of them to drag them in the design view it
is really slow.
As workaround I noticed that if I close teh FLEX Properties
interface this operation is a bit faster.
I found the overall usability of the interface not so good
for now compared to other development tools.
I hope the speed will improve in the definitive version.
Kind regards,
Marco.
Hi Scott,
thank you for the reply.. but no, I'm not running the LiveCycle server on the same machine, I installed it on another host. I don't think that it is a resources issue, I verified that the workbench is such slow even when a lot of RAM is still available, and without other applications running.
Performance are low only when using the Process Design (common interface elements and the Form Design run fine). I also verified that there aren't any issue with java and 2D drivers (tried the official sun Java2D demos, and they run very fast).
I hope that some settings are available, somewhere, to speed up thing a little..
Thank you
Cosma

Query designer formula editing very slow
Hi Experts,
deleting formula in the designer is very slow.
for example :
formula : noerr(a/b)
to add ndiv0 to this formula, i need to place the cursor at the right place and delete 1 character by 1 character. Each character takes about 1 second or more to get deleted and I have to wait for each character to be deleted before typing the 'delete' button again.
Is there a way to speed things up? Its very unproductive when editing formulas.
regards
Bassunfortunately...this has always been slow on any system i've ever worked on. you can try to close all other applications (inclusing SAP) when using the designer...this might help ( a bit).

In Design CS3 - runs very slow on new Intel iMac
To open an existing In Design doc, or a a new doc takes forever. Has Adobe got problems with Intel Macs? Or is there some simple fix?
Hi Douglas,
Adobe CS3 product line are Universal Binary apps and should usually run a lot better/faster on Intel-macs as the CS2 ones.
But also said that the CS3 apps are hungry for RAM, so how much RAM do you have ?

JDeveloper 2.0 is running very slow
My computer is a Celeron 266, 64Mb RAM, Windows NT 4.0
Workstation SP4.
JDeveloper 2.0 Designer is running very slow and Aplications
generated too. A infobus frame with a grid display takes 2-3
seconds to scroll down in a 4000 rows table.
Compiling takes 10 seconds for a simple Grid Infobus Frame.
nullHi
The system requirements specifiecd in the JDeveloper install and
setup are 96MB RAM minimum and recommended is 128MB RAM.

Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative to iCal that will interface with the Cloud so it works on the iPhone and the Macbook? I find iCal to be poorly designed and not very efficient. I waste a lot of time entering information because you can't go to a specific day and enter information, nor can you navigate between months and add information on a specific date by clicking on the date. You can't easily scroll month-to-month and once you do by scrolling through nine months to get to where you want to be, you cannot enter information by clicking on a specific day in the month and entering information. I just called Apple and they verified that this is the way it works. You cannot go to a date and enter information, you keep getting thrown back to today and then you have to go into the calendar and change it manually on the screen. It is just not efficient.
APC, CyberPower are reliable.
Look for 1500VA. As example:

After Effects CS6 interface very slow and causing weird things happening
Hi all,
Since upgrading from AE CS3 to CS6, I noticed that the interface is much slower in CS6 than in CS3.
Specifically, when working in the timeline window, like renaming layers, or even just clicking just a layer, it takes up to multiple seconds before the action is actually applied.
When I move my mouse within that delay period, unexpected results happen, eg accidently a layer is moved up or down.
It seems that AE still thinks I hold and drag something, while that's not the case.
Or that the mouse down - mouse up registration is delayed, AE thinks I'm still holding the left mouse button. Not very good.
Very frustrating because at first I didn't even notice a layer was moved. When going back to CS3 it's a relief to work with.
Note that I'm not talking about render times of the preview, I know when to wait.
But I expect the interface to respond within reasonable times. Clicking a layer should actually highlight it within less than a second, not multiple seconds.Hi Dave and Mylenium, here's more info:
I updated AE to 11.0.2.11 (that fixed the "Need 2 frames or more for ram playback" but not the UI response time)
I work on an iMac with OSX 10.6.8, 3Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB ram, and an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
In the current case, I work in a comp with about 40 shape layers, 2 tiff sequence layers (stored on the SSD), and a few PSD files. Resolution 1080p
I turned off multiprocessing, enabled disk cache
Time to throw it out?
Is the 2012 iMac line up to the task (Nvidia Geforce GTX 660M / 675MX, Intel Quadcore i5 2.7-3.2Ghz - not fantastic right)?
Switch to PC to get real power? -
Data Services Designer - Very Slow on VPN
Hello,
Any idea why Data Services Designer is very slow and many a times goes into Not Responding state. I'm using this client tool to connect to the Data Services Repository + Servers via VPN.
It takes few minutes to load the jobs or to save the changes. Some times hangs.
Wanted to know if anyone is facing similar issues, and any workaround/setup changes to eliminate these delays...
Regards,
Madan
Edited by: Madan Mohan Reddy Zollu on Mar 12, 2010 9:24 AMData Services Designer is communicating with the repo (to store/retrieve objects) and the jobserver (to execute jobs and get status/log files) so if there is a slow network connection, response time in the Designer could become problematic.
One way to solve this is use CITRIX or terminal services to have your Designer close to the database and only screens are send over the slow connection. In the Windows installation guide there is a chapter that documents how to setupDesigner in a (multi-user) Citrix environment. -
Very slow SSIS package in design mode
Hi,
I have one SSI package was created 4 years back; Which is very slow in design
mode after i moved the package into other new system(32GB RAM,1TB harddisk,x64
windows). There are other SSIS projects running on the same system does not have
this issue. The same package is faster in old system.
The package contains 5 data flow task.
Which load data from excel sheet and SQL server database. average number of rows
loading is 10000.
I have tried by removing some dataflow task to another new package, but still
slow.
Please advise.I have one SSI package was created 4 years back; Which is very slow in design mode after i moved the package into other new system(32GB RAM,1TB harddisk,x64 windows). There are other SSIS projects running on the same system does not have
this issue. The same package is faster in old system.
As you said packages are slow in design time. I assume that loading packages, opening Data Flow or any other tasks are slow.
When SSIS package is loaded, it tries to validate all tasks and test all connections to SQL/Excel etc...
So in this case we can set the WorkOffline property which would make package loading faster and also there are properties called DelayValidation, ValidateExternalMetadata you can use.

FW CS3 opens sooooooooo slowly on Vista. I mean I'm talking

That's probably a function of the machine. On Vista (Core 2
Duo E6600 w/4GB
RAM), Fireworks launches in less than 5 seconds. Fireworks 8
actually took a
bit longer.
I think there are a lot of variables to how an application
launches and
works from one system to another.

Copying folders from external hd to mac pro desktop very slow
Hi everyone,
I have been experience very slow download times when copying folder from my Lacie 30GB External HD to the desktop of my Mac Pro. For instances, it took 19 minutes to down load a folder with 300MB of contents to my desktop. The Lacie is "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" I ran Disk Utility on it and "the volume appears to be ok".
Any ideas on what is going down?
Thanks...StanI would troubleshoot or dump the LaCie in favor of something else.
LaCie have been trouble enough in the past with FW ports, power adapters, shorting of cables, running very slow when connected off PCIe SATA using USB/eSATA cases.
But you never say if this is a FW800 case, or what interface, that is so slow. Resetting FW ports is a troubleshooting trick designed just for LaCie cases. Along with swapping cables and power adapter.
I would give all your drives a shot of Alsoft Disk Warrior to insure that the directory and file system are okay. And look at the hardware test in DW output for spare blocks vanishing on the drive.
Using SATA drive, case, and controller of course should be fast and done in seconds, not minutes.

AP1231G-A-K9 access points - very slow throughput - Is TKIP the issue?
I recently setup our small office network using the following setup:
Cablemodem <--> router <--> 1231AP(role root bridge with wireless clients) <-> 1231AP(role non-root bridge with wireless clients)
Code on both APs: 12.3(8)JEE
Office network generally has less than 3 wireless clients connected at any one time to either AP.
AP's are a mere 50' apart; clients are all less than 30' from either AP; they all show excellent signal and connected at 54mbps signaling rates.
All is/has been working very well & very stable with the exception of speed. We have business class service from RR, approx 25mbps dl, 2mbps ul. Any hardwired client to the router switch ports are able to download at speeds averaging 23mbps. Any wireless client connected to either AP is never able to exceed download speeds of 5mbps. With no other wireless clients connected except my one test client, I was not able to exceed 5mbps throughput from either AP that I connected to.
I can confirm that the ethernet connection between the router and root bridge is up at 100mbps-FD and not showing any errors:

Are these very slow thoughput speeds normal of this hardware combination?
I did much searching/googling and found claims that by eliminating TKIP it almost doubles the actual wireless speeds our clients can obtain. Is there any truth to this?
Any suggestions or recommendations without changing hardware would be very welcome.
Thanks in Advance!

=============Ok, thanks for the explanation - I understand. But even at a 22mbps signaling rate shouldn't I be seeing throughputs greater than 5-5.5mbps especially since this location is literally 100% free of any outside interference and the interfaces definitely show the clients and non-root bridge (when connected) all being at the highest rate of 54mbps? I tried even in the same room, approximately 40' away, total line of sight, no obstructions, between my laptop and the root AP.
I disconnected the non-root bridge and connected directly to the root bridge during my testing. I was still only able to achieve approx 5.5mbps download. Adding back in the non-root bridge and re-connecting to it I notice slightly lower throughput, approx 5mbps. During testing, my laptop was the only device connected to the network, all other clients were shut off.

hi all. When pressed play and make some changes in loop (eg fade in fade out) are very slow to implement, and also the loops from the library are very slow to play, corrects the somewhat self so is the Logic??
Hey there Logic Pro21,
It sounds like you are seeing some odd performance issues with Logic Pro X. I recommend these troubleshooting steps specifically from the following article to help troubleshoot what is happening:
Logic Pro X: Troubleshooting basics
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5859
Verify that your computer meets the system requirements for Logic Pro X
See Logic Pro X Technical Specifications.
Test using the computer's built-in audio hardware
If you use external audio hardware, try setting Logic Pro X to use the built-in audio hardware on your computer. Choose Logic Pro X > Preferences > Audio from the main menu and click the Devices tab. Choose the built in audio hardware from the Input Device and Output Device pop-up menus. If the issue is resolved using built-in audio, refer to the manufacturer of your audio interface.
Start Logic with a different project template
Sometimes project files can become damaged, causing unexpected behavior in Logic. If you use a template, damage to the template can cause unexpected results with any project subsequently created from it. To create a completely fresh project choose File > New from Template and select Empty Project in the template selector window. Test to see if the issue is resolved in the new project.
Sometimes, issues with the data in a project can be repaired. Open an affected project and open the Project Information window with the Project Information key command. Click Reorganize Memory to attempt to repair the project. When you reorganize memory, the current project is checked for any signs of damage, structural problems, and unused blocks. If any unused blocks are found, you will be able to remove these, and repair the project. Project memory is also reorganized automatically after saving or opening a project.
Delete the user preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
Press the Go button.
Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
Restart the computer.
Isolate an issue by using another user account
For more information see Isolating an issue by using another user account.
Reinstall Logic Pro X
Another approach you might consider is reinstalling Logic Pro X. To do this effectively, you need to remove the application, then reinstall Logic Pro X. You don't have to remove everything that was installed with Logic Pro X. Follow the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Logic Pro X.
In the Finder, choose Applications from the Go menu.
Locate the Logic Pro X application and drag it to the trash.
Open the Mac App Store
Click the Purchases button in the Mac App Store toolbar.
Sign in to the Mac App Store using the Apple ID you first used to purchase Logic Pro X.
Look for Logic Pro X in the list of purchased applications in the App Store. If you don't see Logic Pro X in the list, make sure it's not hidden. See Mac App Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases for more information.
Click Install to download and install Logic Pro X.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

Gmail performance is very slow in Firefox 4 and much slower when compared to performance in Firefox 3.6.x After clicking a button within the Gmail interface (e.g. refresh, opening an email, sending an email etc.) there is a noticeable wait time in Firefox 4. In Firefox 3.6 and actually in any/all previous versions of Firefox, this was not the case. Using same machine for Firefox 4 as I was for Firefox 3.x. Dell Inspiron Laptop E6400, Dual core Intel 2 GHz, 3.5 GB RAM, 80 GB free HDD space, 32-bit Windows XP SP3. Gmail is set to use HTTPS always.
Hi GoldMoon,
(1)
Refer to your last posting, seems that you've created index which wouldn't help your query performance.
You need to create index from the field which supplied from your 'WHERE' condition. So if I follow your initial posting in this thread, your index should contains:
- BUKRS (which will be compared with your company variable)
- PRCTR (which will be compared with your s_prctr variable)
- GJAHR (which will be compared with your s_year variable)
- HKONT (which will be compared with your glcode value in your it_final[])
- BUDAT (which will be compared with your s_budat range/select option.
And to follow the BSIS field order, the above index field need to be arranged as follow
- BUKRS
- HKONT
- GJAHR
- BUDAT
- PRCTR
(2).
Try not to use 'INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS' as it will increase table-memory overhead, but use 'INTO' and make sure the field list and internal table fields is in the same order.
So, once the index has been created, and 'INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS' has been changed to 'INTO' your selection should looks like this:
IF NOT it_final[] IS INITIAL.
SELECT bukrs
hkont
augdt
augbl
zuonr
gjahr
belnr
buzei
budat
werks
kostl
aufnr
shkzg
dmbtr
prctr
FROM bsis
INTO TABLE it_bseg
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN it_final
WHERE bukrs eq company
AND hkont eq it_final-glcode
AND gjahr eq s_year
AND budat in s_budat
AND prctr eq s_prctr.
ENDIF.
Hope it helps -
Applet with JDBC runs very slow
I have recently created an applet which I am using to interface with a MS SQL Server 2000 database using JDBC. The server is running W2K Server, and a Tomcat web server.
There are some performance problems with this application. The volume of data being demanded by the database is very low, yet it runs very slow. More specifically, however, the application runs at a very fast pace for several seconds, then "stalls" for 10 -15 seconds.
The stalling of the application does not take place at the same place in the code all the time; rather it seems to be completely independent of what I am doing. Sometimes a particular operation takes 20 seconds to complete, but the next day the same thing only takes 20msec.
Any ideas?
Thankssounds like network usage issues
