Design pattern / data loading solution

Hello all!
I have been working on a few projects which involve loading data, sometimes remotely, sometimes local, sometimes JSON, sometimes XML. The problem I am having is that due to the speed of development and the changing minds of various clients I am finding my designs are too rigid and I would like them to be more flexable. I have been trying to think of a reusable solution to data loading, and would like some advice as I imagine many of you out there have had the same problem.
What I would like to do is to create a generic LoadingOperation abstract class, which has member variables of type Parser and Loader, which have parse() and loadData() methods respectivly. The Parser and Loader classed are interfaces and classes that implement these could be XMLParser and JSONParser, LocalLoader and RemoteLoader etc. With something like this i would like to have a new class which extends LoadingOperation for each thing to be loaded, weather thats a local XML file, or remote JSON, or whatever.
The problem is is that specific Parser implementation cannot return custom data types without breaking the polymorphic behavior of the LoadingOperation class. I have been messing around with generics and declaring subclasses of LoadingOperation like
class SpecificLoader extends LoadingOperation<CustomDataType>
and doing similar things with Parser classes, but this seems a bit weird.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what im doing wrong / could be doing better. I want to be able to react quickly to changing specifications (ignoring the fact that they shouldnt be changing that much!) and have a logical seperation of code etc...

The fact that it seems like processes are similar doesn't mean that they are in fact the same. My code editor and Word both seem to be basically the same but I am rather sure that generalizing between the two would be a big mistake.
And I speak from experience (parsing customer data and attempting to generalize the process.)
The problem with attempting to generalize is if you generalize functionality that is not in fact the same. And then you end up with conditional logic all over the place to deal with differences dependent on the users. Rather than saving time that actually costs time because the code becomes more fragile.
Doesn't mean it isn't possible but just rather that you should insure that it is in fact common behavior before implementing anything.

HP Design Jet T1100 not printing correct size

Not sure if this is the right section to post
Ok, we have a HP Design Jet T1100 colour printer in ouir office.
When I click file, print, properties etc and change it to A2 or A1 for example it still prints out on A0.
I've tried calling Helpdesk but I'm normally on the phone to them for a hours explaining the same problem to them over and over again. The only thing they've done is send a firmware update on a CD which didn't help.

Illustrator is not working as it should...
I want them to compare the original size and date of creation with what I have installed on my computer... I have installed several times with my original CD and I tried once downloading the files from the adobe site (using my own license). I suspect the files has been modified or renamed on my laptop by an external unauthorized user causing the malfunction of the application.
Customer services does not support CS3 anymore and the updates / patches in the adobe site does not solve the problem... They redirect me to the forums for support...
Presently, my problem is that after creating a swatch and drag it to the swatch panel, it does not fill as it should a new form... Now, after deactivating and activating my license the swatch seems to fill the new form but when the filter that the swatch has is persistence in the next filling object created even though a different color is being used as a fill (X)... Help in the creation of a swatch over the internet just complicate the issue.
That's why I would like to know whether updates on my product are being received or files are being replaced without my knowledge...

I am having problems printing with my HP 800PS design jet.

I am have problems printing with my HP 800PS design jet. I have to call IT all the time and it is losing its print settings and the print screen will freeze uot all the time. I am told that HP does not support this product any more.

HP Design jet 5000ps

Hi everyone, I am fairly new to wide format printers and wanted to see if y'all could help me out. First off my name is Hunter and I own and operate a grading & paving company and I just bought a used HP Design jet 5000ps. I purchased this printer with the intentions of printing blue prints for jobs we work on and also printing on adhesive vinyl to make decals for vehicles, banner material to make banners for advertisement, heat transfer material for clothing and so on. I am under the impression that I need to use UV ink for outdoor applications. If this is true can I print blueprints with the UV ink or do I have to switch it out every time. If I can print everything with UV ink can I flush out my DYE ink tubes and printheads and use them with the uv ink or do I have to have separate tubes and heads for each ink type. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hunter: Welcome to the forum. I'll take a stab at answering your questions but I'm no expert, just another user like yourself who owns a couple of the 5000 series printers. Yes, you can print blueprints using the UV ink. There won't be any noticeable difference in the print quality between the dye and UV inks. In order to switch between dye and UV ink, you have to replace the ink tanks, the tube assembly and all the print heads and cleaners as the two inks are not compatible. The machine won't let you mix the two components, as far as I know. So if you're using dye right now, you can switch over to UV completely and store your dye equipment if you ever want to switch back. If you're using dye printheads and put a UV ink cartridge in, the machine will give you an error and won't let you proceed. Only way is to buy all matching components for UV ink. It's an expensive investment but if you can switch over to UV, it should do everything the dye ink does for you now but you'll have the advantage of the fade resistance when you do indoor signing. You can find most, if not all the components you need on Ebay. I've purchased a refurbed ink tube system from LPS Computer, a seller on Ebay and can vouch for his quality and being a good Ebay seller. My understanding is that the ink may not be suitable for outdoor use exposed to the elements. But maybe someone else can give you better insight into this factor. Hi Guys I am having similar issues with My network printer / Photocopier Doc C3100I have tried the following : Connecting to it VIA IP address used the Xerox firmware for MAC - dindt work - it wioll beep Used PCL generic provided by MAC and didnt work - will print alot of pages that has numbers and letters on them I have checked the logs on the printer and it state error 016-749. Abvioulsy the printer is using PCL but then why it wouldnt even work with the generic PCL driver or the xerox mac firmware ?? It is using LPD but i also tried HP socket with no rsults other than again printing rubbish The printer works fine in windows i have disabled the accounting function within the printer. I have also revret to MAC 10.10.3 from 10.10.4 with no luck I have tried to fix all premisions within mAC but again with no luck I can creat PDF files so MAC printing software dopes work Apple couldnt help me as they think it should work with treh generic soft at least Help please Jason

LiveCycle Designer 7, Display Pattern not working

With Adobe LiveCycle Designer version 7.1.2295.1.242059:
I have a Form that has fields that the user fills out and an "Email Submit Button" where when the user clicks it, it submits the form via email that attaches a .xml file. When I receive the email, I noticed that all the "Date" fields data does not have the slashes in them unless the user specifically uses the pop-up calendar form to set the date value for each of these fields. If the user just types in the date as "02192007", the data does not get converted to "02/19/2007".
I tried modifying the various Pattern properties of the date fields on the form, but that does not seem to fix the problem.
Also, if I set the following "date{MM/DD/YYYY}|date{M/D/YYYY}" as my "Validation Pattern:" for my Date fields, and everytime I enter "2/19/2007", I keep getting my "Validation Pattern Message", indicating that the format is wrong. However, if I enter "02" as the month, it works fine; only single digit months fail.
The other settings for this field that I have are:
(Field Tab): Display Pattern: MM/DD/YYYY
(Field Tab): Edit Pattern: MM/DD/YYYY
What am I doing wrong and how can I insure that slashes will come across on the XML file when it is submitted even though I have set the pattern properties?

Designer 8 doesn't help either.
I have the same settings Shweta proposes - but the exported date format is still different.
You can fill the date field via script (like the following) then the date format is allright. To me it looks like the designer's "date format" is simply a string and the designer doesn't care a bit about the display patterns.

Design ideas for retrieving Data for Read Only

Hi All,
Currently I am in the process of evaluating different design ideas for the search functionality of my application. I am looking for a best option for retrieving the data by executing some complex sql queries with huge query criteria and showing the single or multiple records to the user. But the data is read only. This may involve pagination if the number of records exceeds the page limit.
There are various options to implement this like JDBC and JDO or using some persistance framework to retrieve the data objects. Please suggest me about a good option for this.
