Design-or bug?

First of all, let me say how much I appreciate the knowledgeable folks on this forum and how much I've learned while lurking around. Secondly, I've got the GB update and have been very pleased; no issues with apps, contacts, upside down maps or the like.
That said, I've experienced something I've not seen commented on. When I power off the Droid X, choosing "Power Off" after pushing the power button, the phone will turn off, but then turn itself back on after ten minutes or so. If I "Power Off" a second time, it remains off. I know that other options are available after the update, but this has happened each time I've shut it down.
Anyone else, or is this normal behavior? Thanks in advance.

  • Flash Builder Design Mode Bug Workaround (!!!)

I've been fighting this annoyance since FB4 came out, and while I still don't think that custom/embedded fonts in design view are fixed by this, I've been able to reproduce this "fix" (workaround) to get design view to show fonts/theme correctly under some very specific circumstances on two separate PCs.
If anyone from Adobe sees this I'd like to know whether this sounds familiar or is possibly logged as a bug already somewhere in JIRA.. if not I could probably do that as long as it won't be a wasted effort.
    The problem:
You're using a Halo theme but certain CSS settings (specifically and possibly limited to FONTS) don't work properly in design view even though they work fine in Flash.  Essentially this makes design view practically useless since choice of font family, size, and weight can effect component sizing if you aren't hard-coding component sizes (ugh)... ruining your efforts to use design view for UI design if your UI has any level of complexity (or uses absolute positioning at all).
The specific circumstances seem to be:
You're using the Halo theme (you have no special 'skinning' requirements and want Halo defaults w/only CSS customizations)
You've upgraded a Flex 3 project to Flex 4 SDK (not sure if this is needed to reproduce the issue)
Using a regular non-embedded font (embedded fonts still do crap out, but even this 'workaround' doesn't fix that problem)
You're using swc library files such as the Swiz lib, Mate, Flexlib, etc. (I think it's ANY swc, not specific to any one)
This may also only apply when using an "mx only" project (no Spark), since we're using Halo here
The two part fix (as far as I can tell you need BOTH before design view works correctly):
In .actionScriptProperties, add the following bolded line after the compiler tag like so:
      </compiler>
      <theme themeIsDefault="false" themeIsSDK="true" themeLocation="${SDK_THEMES_DIR}/frameworks/themes/Halo"/>
      <applications>
(I think this may only apply to 'upgraded' projects, as the line does seem to be present in newly created FB4 Halo projects.  My guess is that an "upgraded" project should have such a line added, but doesn't get it due to an oversight/bug.)
The somewhat painful, and definitely odd part.  Remove all your SWC library files from /libs.  Grab the source code for the libraries and drop them into your project's /src folder as if you'd written them yourself.  (This may require some research and knowledge on special requirements to build the libs, such as with Swiz's compiler metadata compiler settings which you need to put into your project's settings.)  After you get things set up right and the project compiles again, doing a refresh of design view should finally give you proper looking Halo controls and fonts so they look identical to the Flash runtime view.
Why this works, I've no idea.  I suspect it has something to do with that stupid and annoying (and supposedly 'harmless') design mode warning message you get when you include a library like Swiz or Mate in your project.  (Design mode could not load xxxxxxxxxxxxx.swc. It may be incompatible with this SDK, or invalid. (DesignAssetLoader.CompleteTimeout)) - this warning doesn't break your application, people seem to think it's just a harmless warning..but is it breaking design view?
If anyone has any idea what's going on here, why this 'fixes' the problem (a better work around), or has any other insight I'd love to hear it.  The combo of needing to do two things (in my specific case) to fix the problem really made this a ROYAL PAIN, I still can't believe I found it.

Hi Fernando, sorry for the delayed response.  CSS Design Mode is not available for Flex 4 projects, but it is still available in Flex 3 projects.  The reason for this is that designing components in Flex 4 is often a lot different, since it relies highly on the new spark skinning architecture.  There is, however, an Appearance panel available in design view which supplies a set of the main inheriting styles. Setting these styles in the Appearance panel will result in assigning values to a global style selector.
    I hope this helps,
    Rob

  • Slow motion video. By design or bug?

If I create a slow mo video and share it by iMessage the recipient views it correctly but if I view it in the thread it plays at normal speed throughout.
Is this a bug or by design?

I'll take this feature request to product management.  I can't say if or when such support will be available.  In the meantime, as a workaround use iMovie to export your video with the slo-mo effect to your Camera Roll so Revel can import the processed version.

  • Title designer coordinates bug

I'm having an issue with CS6 Premiere Pro's title designer.
If I place text in the title, add it to my timeline, and then reopen the title for editing, I find that the coordinates of the placed text read as X 100 & Y 100, regardless of where they are actually placed. As soon as I click on either coordinate text field, the text will jump to X 100 or Y 100, depending on which field I click on. I have revisited this a few times, and consistently, the coordinates for placed text read as X 100 & Y 100. In CS5.5, they simply retain their proper coordinates. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug???
    System info:
    CS6 Premiere Pro 6.0.1 (MC: 264587)
    6-core MacPro5,1
    16GB RAM
    OSX 10.6.8
ATI  Radeon HD 5870 video card
Permissions repaired and disks checked (ONXY & Disk Warrior)
Here's a screen shot of some text's position coordinates after being placed:
Here's what I get when I double click the title to open it for editing. Note that the text is still in its original location in the title, but the coordinates now read as X 100 & Y 100:
This is mostly a major annoyance as I can manually reposition the text, but if I want to match text postions of a few titles via numerical coordinates, I have to enter both X and Y values.

No they don't, if you want it fixed you need to file a bug report.

  • "Design" view bug?

I've created a simple menu with CSS. The menu displays differently in "Design" view within DW than it does as an actual rendered HTML page. WTF?
See below the sample I put together that illustrates the difference. The background color is different, the extent of the back color is also different, and even the size of the boxes is slightly different. The DW view is inaccurate, but why?

    Hi
Design view is only an approximation and depending upon you code can be a very rough approximation.

  • Livecycle Designer ES 8.2 Crashing When Trying to Add Elements

I've created a form and hit a roadblock.
The form is 17 pages long and contains 151 elements.
When attempting to add another element the application shows not responding and then eventually crashes.  Worse yet, it corrupts the PDF.  The byte count for the file goes from around 280KB to 0KB.  When I attempt to open the file using LC after recovering from the crash, the file is blank (obviously).
After restoring the files from tape, I attempted to work-around this issue by splitting the form into separate smaller parts and then combining the parts in Acrobat Pro, but the add more pages features is grayed out and I can combine the PDFs.
This is extremely frustrating and hugely limits my ability to create forms.
    PC Specs:
    Intel Xeon 1.86GHz

...just in case someone says it's a machine issue.
    Here's the file:  <removed>
    UPDATE **** UPDATE **** UPDATE
After speaking with one of my developers, we discovered that there is a horrible bug which loops a tag in the XML.
Here is the start of the problem:
    <field name="DropDownList1" y="9.525mm" x="3.175mm" w="62mm" h="9mm">
                <ui>
                   <choiceList>
                      <border>
                         <?templateDesigner StyleID aped3?>
The <?templateDesigner StyleID aped3?> tag then runs on for around 800,000 lines of code.
This apparently is a well known issue.  You can read more about the problem and the fix here:
    http://acrobatusers.com/forum/forms-livecycle-designer/potential-bugs-livecycle-designer-s cript-editor-crashes-lcd
I opened the file in Textpad and deleted the tag and all its brethren.
Adobe: Is there a patch for this?

Hi,<br />I have had the same problem occur again. This time I looked at the files inside the 8.2 subdirectory to see if I could find the speciic one that is behind this problem. Look inside the following path,<br /><br />C:\Documents and Settings\<your ID>\Application Data\Adobe\Designer\8.2<br /><br />find the LinguisticOptions.xml and the InspectorEN178.xml.<br />One of these or both are getting corrupted. When I delete them the program works again. It might be a good idea to back these up if you want to keep your preferences. You can then drop these back into this subdirectory when they become corrupted again. That way you do not have to delete them completely.<br />I hope adobe will fix this problem for good.<br /><br />Steve

  • Colour Profile Bug in CS4 32 bpc Mode?

This has been confirmed on both Mac and PC by different users
(this topic was confirmed on another list before posting here).
One may be working on an image that has a different colour profile
than set as default in colour settings. For example, colour settings
has Adobe RGB while the current document is in ProPhoto RGB. If the
ProPhoto RGB (16 bpc) file is taken to 32 bpc mode, the status message
reports that the file is in a modified linear space based on the input
profile. One may then perform USM, for example and then return to 16
    bpc or 8 bpc mode.
Here is the bug: Once the ProPhoto RGB file is returned to 16 or 8
bpc, it now has the working RGB space tagged of Adobe RGB, rather than
the original ProPhoto RGB as input before 32 bpc conversion. This is
not just a tagging issue, the numbers have been converted to working
RGB rather than the input ICC that was tagged to the image prior to
    entering 32 bpc mode.
ICC tagged image operations have been divorced from colour settings
since version 6, the document can reside in a space that is
independent of colour settings. I can't recall other operations that
change the files colour space and tag without user intention.
If using 32 bpc edits, to preserve the input space, one either has to
change their colour settings to match the document or convert the
    document to working RGB.
So why this reversion to working RGB and not the document RGB - bug or
design feature/limitation? Did CS3 work this way, is it only my
    version of CS4?
I have searched the help notes, this forum and other Adobe support docs,
however I could not find this issue documented.
    Sincerely,
    Stephen Marsh

Can anyone post a supporting argument for the current behaviour (design or bug). While in 32 bpc Photoshop "knows" what the original profile is (it is listed as being in a linear state), while on default conversion to lower bit depth the data is converted to working RGB, rather than the document RGB prior to conversion (if different to working RGB). Am I missing something - is this a good thing, should this be behaviour be changed?
    OK, topic drift it is!
Buko/progress, it is not so much bit depth in this case, it is gamma encoding - or lack thereof. 32 bpc mode processes in linear gamma, which can have an effect on some operations for certain receptive image content (tonal moves, USM, interpolation etc).
As one example, some links to linear resampling can be found in the comments at this blog:
    http://forensicphotoshop.blogspot.com/2008/11/resize-smaller-part-2.html
I prefer the 32 bpc route to linear processing rather than the alternative, which is 16 bpc and a hacked custom RGB profile set to gamma 1.0.
I don't like linear USM for output sharpening (nasty dark halo artifacts). However, for subtle capture/acquisition sharpening linear USM may be preferred for certain images. I generally sharpen with blend if sliders limiting the intensity of the light halo, which comes close to one aspect of linear sharpening (light halo reduction). This can also be achieved by blending the USM in two separate layers, set to darken and lighten blending with reduced opacity.
While on USM and gamma, there are some L* based RGB working spaces such as L*RGB or the new ECI RGB which behave the same way as Lab mode Lightness channel sharpening (when set to Luminosity blend). As the response of the Lightness channel is different to linear gamma and standard gamma encoded spaces, for some image content one may be preferred over the other as the processing space.
I would still like to explore the original topic/post before submitting a bug report. How do you think things should work?
    Regards,
    Stephen Marsh

  • EMT 252, 250 and nonlin Space Designer IRs

Just got the latest Acousticas library. EMT252XL.
It's a whopper with about 2000 irs, incl. the 252 with 250 and nonlin programs.
I really like the detail put into this one. The frequency multipliers are there as well, making it a breeze controlling the low end of the reverb.
I wish Apple would update Space Designer's IR browser to be a little more modern. Pulling the load menu is not very convenient when dealing with so many impulses.
I remember writing Acousticas after getting their first library. I asked them if they could provide comparison between the IRs and the hardware. Guess others did the same. This time they put up a video blind test and IMO it is really hard to distinguish which is the hardware and which is the IR.
Links to blind test and other videos
    http://www.acousticas.net/World/Videos/Acousticas/EMT252/PianoDemo252.mov
    http://www.acousticas.net

I have these IR's too and they're great.
Although I've run into a bug using them with Space Designer -- the bug appears to be Logic's fault, not the Acoustica IR's, which run fine in other convolvers like Altiverb and waves IR-1.
When I load the EMT 252/250 IR's into Space Designer, instead of a 3 or 4 second impulse, I get a .3 or .4 second impulse. Using the "show IR in Finder" triangle on Space Designer reveals that Logic is loading the wrong IR files. I've been over this with the folks at Acousticas, who are very helpful.
Did a reinstall, trashed some prefs and cache files, and Space Designer still insists on loading the wrong files. Yet another bug I assume Apple will turn a deaf ear to.
Just something to watch for. In the meantime, I'm lucky that I can still use Altiverb or Waves to hear these great IR's.

  • White box keeps appearing over list items in design view, I want to know why ?

In my footer area, I have 4 vertical lists that act as my sitemap links, but when I hover over them in design view the entire list gets replaced with a white box and then when I move my mouse away the white box disapears and the list shows again. This does not happen in live view but I would like to know why it does that, or if this will happen when the site goes live, or it just a design view bug.

  • File open on multiple computers at the same time

    Hello,
I have noticed something peculiar. Whenever I open or save a file in Illustrator CC 2014, it shows as an open file on our server (as it should). Shortly thereafter, it not longer shows as open, thereby enabling another user to open it and edit it at the same time.
What this means is, that 2-3-4 people can have the same document open, without knowing it, which could lead to some pretty annoying issues with content not being saved.
Indesign does not behave in the same matter, since it creates a lock-file and keeps the file-handle open on the server.
Is this by design, a bug or are we doing something wrong?
    Thanks!
    /Thomas

How are you determining the file is open and in use, server utility or a utility on your platform (which one are you on)?
This is by design so more than one user can work on the same file. For example we have a brand guideline in .ai format for each brand that everyone pulls elements from. On a new brand the guideline is updated and added to often by the brand guardian.
InDesign last I heard is different and does not allow 2 people to open the same file. That makes sense since InDesign is a multi-page and Illustrator historically was only one page at a time until Artboards.

  • Changing font/-size of a text field on master-pages not possible? (field prop)

    Hi,
I would like to change the font and font-size of a textfield on a master page.
I wonder if I do anything wrong, because the font-options (size, font etc.) are simple greyed out / not avaliable, when I click on my text field.
It seems, there is any way to customize the font-properties of a textfield (only) on master-page.
Well I guess it would work with java script in init-event ...  but really, why the hell it should not be possible simply to use the properties/text properties?!
Please correct me if I am wrong. Do I do anything wrong or is it really not possible to customize font of a text field on master pages?

    Hi,
I was just about to post, that I figured it out.
Actually, I use Livecycle Designer in SAP (transaction SFP). There seems to be a bug (one of hundrets by the way).
If I click on a field, that does not have text-property e.g. subform, text-option menu greys out.
Afterwards it stay this way until I click/doubleclick into a simple text (not text field). From that moment on, text/font-option menu is available again, until I click on something without text. => So pay attention and click wisely
    coming soon: "SAP meets Livecycle Designer - a (Bug)Lovestory", hardcover 124 Pages. ; )
by the way: SAP does not sopport interactive forms higher than Reader 8.1. Its statement "8.1 is fine enough for everything you need in a SAP/Adobe Interactive Form". So beware of using XFA higher than in 8.1. sad, but true ...

It seems like you have a composition association where the master side returns a RowIterator rather than a Row (meaning association cardinality for the master/source side for the composition association is 'many'). That should not be allowed. Infact this is a design time bug for the BC4J association wizard. I've logged it as bug number 2678717

  • Preview will no longer open PDFs in Safari

    Hello Everyone,
Lately, when I open links PDFs, they will not open in Safari (only a blank page). I have to control click the link to download the file, but I want it to go back to normal by opening within my Safari browser.
I used to have Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 on my computer, but have since uninstalled it because of its slow response in opening files. I also had Acrobat Writer 5 on my machine at one point and was fairly happy with its performance when I needed it, but in an effort to fix my problem with PDFs not opening in Safari, I uninstalled it too.
In the beginning, I was very careful to not allow Acrobat not be default, but I think one of my co-workers used my machine and said yes to Acorbat's annoying message to make it default. Since then I am stuck with this issue. In any case, I used AppZapper to remove both Reader 7 and Writer 5 thinking my computer would be forced back into using Preview.
After that did not work, I tried deleting the preferences in my User library, but that has not worked either. I also tried a tip in Terminal to make the file at least download like they used to do pre-Tiger... No use either.
Does anyone know how I can reset my preferences for PDF links online to open in my Safari browser? I have already set Preview to be default on already downloaded files.
Also, I coped with the Ctrl-Click way for some time, but now i have a pdf link in an email and the file will not download that way. Hence I want it to work the way it did out of the box.
    Please help.

You wrote: "No, by my I meant my Home > Library > Internet Plug-Ins folder. I double-checked and it is empty."Well, that's not the correct folder. Again, the Adobe plug-in would be in the Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-Ins folder.
    2. You wrote: "Ok, assuming I did uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader incorrectly, how can I go about fixing that? Do I reinstall it and reuninstall?"You can try the instructions in the Adobe KB document "Manually remove Acrobat (6.x and 7.x on Mac OS X)", which states it also addresses Adobe Reader. Unfortunately, they appear incomplete since they also omit the plug-in I discussed. Also, the steps for using Find under the heading "On Mac OS X v10.4.x" are flawed because step "g" does not work due to a design feature/bug of Spotlight, in which Find is implemented under Tiger. Essentially, the issue is that the Visible/Invisible search criterion does not work.
At the worst, if the problem remains thereafter, you may have to reinstall Mac OS X via Archive and Install.
    Good luck!
