Design report outside of code?

Is there a way to pass in a report template or design into the report engine instead of building the entire design in code?  JasperReports has a way of passing in report data and a design and allowing the tool to create the final report.
Does anyone know if any Business Objects SDKs support something like this?

Hello Farhat,
Currently, the way to create a Crystal Report off of a Universe is using the Crystal Reports Designer (not the Crystal Reports for Eclipse designer).  That invokes the Query Panel within the Desinger, with which you interact with the Universe-based Query.
There's no programmatic way to create or modify a Universe connection in a Crystal Report.
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda

  • The Design of Profit Center Code

    Dear SAP Gurus,
In the design of profit center code, you can design a profit center code that is common across all company codes by flagging the company code assignment in KE51. Alternatively, you can also design a company code specific profit center code. Unlike profit center accounting, this kind of feature is not available in cost center accounting.
If you would to design your profit center codes in this manner, you can no longer in use of all standard pca reports because there is no company code selection criteria when executing the reports. This is quite inconsistent with the above featute in pca. You can definitely customize your pca reports by bringing in the company code as selection criteria.
Besides it will help you to reduce the number of profit center codes, can anyone share of any other rationales or pros/cons of designing a common profit center code across all company codes? Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers,
    Rebi

    Dear SAP Gurus,
Anyone has any inputs for my question?
To elaborate further, here is the example of my question:
    a. When designing profit center code PC1, you can create the code as PC1 and flag it as applicable to company code 1000, 2000
        and 3000 in KE51
    b. Alternatively, you can design company specific profit center code of 1000PC1, 2000PC1 and 3000PC1.
I need your help to share with me the pros and cons of the above 2 options. Thanks in adavance for your help.
    Cheers,
    Rebi

  • PDF report with bar code

    Hello.
I am creating a PDF report using the Oracle Reports 6i running on Oracle Concurrent Manager.
The PDF report has a bar code.
The report finish with success but it is visualized without the bar code.
Into the output report the bar code name is small font (mw6code39mt) always.
I can visualize the output report when I manually alter the bar code name from small font to large font (MW6 Code39MT) only. I do it in my Unix server using the text editor.
The bar code name installed in my PC is large font (MW6 Code39MT)
I am experiencing problem when visualizing or printing the output report.
Has somebody experience about it or some idea about how can I to configure the Unix server or Oracle to solve the problem?
    Thank you.
    Edson

    Hi Julie,
    Sorry my english.
I will try to explain in more details the problem.
I have identified that the bar code name into the PDF output is lowercase (mw6code39mt).
I only visualize or print the PDF output with the bar code when I manually alter that bar code name from lowercase to uppercase (MW6Code39MT).
I do that in my Unix server using the vi editor.
Please, see what I need to alter in the PDF output file on Unix server:
    <</Type /Font
    /Name /F1
    /Subtype /Type1
    /Encoding /WinAnsiEncoding
    /BaseFont /mw6code39mt ====> alter to MW6Code39MT
    /FirstChar 24
    /LastChar 255
    /Widths 9 0 R
    /FontDescriptor 10 0 R
    >>
    endobj
    Thank you.

  • Add a new table to an existing Print Layout Designer report

Is it possible to add a new table to an existing Print Layout Designer report? For example, in the Production Order there is a Sales Order field (which is displayed on the report), I would like to display some information from UDFs found on the Sales Order, but when I add a Database Field to the report the Sales Order tables does not appear in the list (OWOR).

    Hi
It is possible provided there is a relationship which exists between two tables.
You can add a Database field. Goto the Properties and selct Content Tab.
Now in the Table dropdown, hold the Alt Key and click. This displays all the tables in B1. After selecting the Table, you can select the related Column.
Remember there should be a relationship which exists between this column and existing columns.
Because PLD works completely on Joins to my understanding

  • Design Reports in Word or Excel

[url http://www.windwardreports.com/]Windward Reports, the leader in enterprise report generation, has released the world’s first enterprise reporting software that enables use of Excel as a design tool. The Windward Reports Server Engine is perfect for users creating both java reports and .net reports alike, and now allows users to design reports in both Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel as well.
Windward, a leader in with its design-in-Word reporting software because of its ease of use, now adds the advantages of Excel to its portfolio of simple-to-use, superior reporting products. Windward’s new AutoTag 6.0 reporting software uniquely uses Excel to intelligently figure out sums and number formatting, and allows users to build a table which supports calculations. AutoTag 6.0 still outputs to Word, or any other output format, to produce reporting documents.
Why is this Excel release so important? Simply put: Freedom. By creating an easy-to-use design tool which allows users to design their reports in Excel (in addition to word), Windward is freeing up thousands of IT man-hours normally allocated to report design, and including Excel business users in their ‘power-to the people’ philosophy. Now, non-technical business users who prefer Excel, can design their own reports and stay within their comfort zone while doing so. Windward Reports AutoTag for Excel doesn’t just look like Excel, it IS Excel.
How Does It Work? Begin with a worksheet. Using the AutoTag pull-down menu, select a data source such as an SQL database or XML file. (AutoTag works in conjunction with the Windward Reports Standard Server Engine, which gives your PC the ability to communicate with your organization's data sources, such as its SQL databases and XML files.) You use standard Excel commands to format and edit the report, and you assign tags to the data fields using the AutoTag pull-down menu. When finished, you save your template and, if you wish, verify that tags are correct with AutoTag's "validate" function.
What makes this unique? With AutoTag for Excel, your number formatting always carries through – it doesn’t matter if you output to RTF, PDF, or any other type. And, by using Excel templates you have a way to easily, and automatically generate reports that perform calculations on a collection of values! For instance, you might use Excel to sum all of the line-item amounts that are generated by an AutoTag. While AutoTag was always easy to use, this additional capability offers functions not available in a word-designed template, allowing the software to be used by more people, in more ways.
When you generate the report Windward Reports merges this template with the data you have selected. The finished report, with all of your formatting, positioning and design, is available in minutes instead of hours or even days.

  • How can i designed reports  in VC?

I am not sure which is best way to design report for SAP port. Is VC ok? Can you give me some advices ?

    Hi csquare,
This is a consulting question and completely depends on the requirements of your organization. First off, SAP BI does not require SAP R/3.
You have the following options for designing your reports.
1/ BI Web Application Designer - Focus towards more OLAP type of Analysis (drilldowns, ad-hoc reporting, filtering)
2/ BI Analyzer - Excel Add-In (Preference of a lot of Financial folks)
3/ Visual Composer - Business Application Modeling tool that generates iViews. Highly flexible for integrating multiple backend environments and it is a simply great user experience!
    4/ Standard SAP BI Queries
I would suggest reading up a bit more on the different reporting capabilities available.

  • NEED HELP: Problem with Canvas Size in Crystal design/report.

    Hello,
I am having some trouble with one of my reports, the canvas size is so much bigger than my design/report, which is causing it to preview really small.  I have gone into the document properties and tried to change those settings, I have also used the tools to try to make the canvas size smaller, it seems as thought nothing is really working.  When I use those tools it cuts off part of my report and also adds huge scroll bars into my design... Does anyone have any insight on this? It would be a great help.
    Thank you,

    Hi Kerry,
Are you using Crystal Reports Designer or BusinessObjects designer ( what ever it was called ) Crysstal Reports 5 was released in the summer of 1997 and definitely did not support a flash file.
Need more info and details on the versions you are using and info on the Clients portal, Is it Businessobjects Enterprise 5.1?
    Thank you
