Design view background appears black in CC

I have a site in which the pages are built from templates. When I look at any page in Live view, it appears correctly with a white background. However, in Design view the background is black. The text is appearing in the correct colour (blue), and images are ok. The site also appears correctly online.
I have tried clearing my cache, to no avail. In fact, the black background also manifests itself on my laptop.
I don't remember this happening in CS6.
Any ideas?

This is the way the page appears in split/design view. The black is supposed to be transparent and appears white in the live site, and the bluish area is the currently selected div, which returns to black when deselected. The white areas which show are images with white backgrounds.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 design view background is black, how can I stop this?

Hey everybody! I have a problem with Dreamweaver CS5's design view only showing a black background. I can create a brand new html document either as a standalone file or as part of a site and it will show a completely black background wheather it's saved or not. This also is a problem with pages that I have already created and with pages created with a Dreamweaver pre-installed template. I can't see anything unless it's not black. It is not affected by background colors either, in fact background colors don't show on anything I make; it's all black! The strange fact about this is that any given page will display just fine in Live View or in any web browser. Thanks in advance, I really need the help on this because I need to use the design view to position elements (which is a lot easier to do than guessing what would look best in code view).

    Have you sorted this problem?
I have changes from Dreamweaver CS5 to CC and it appears all my existing files have a black background in design mode but when I switch to "live" view it looks like it should and does on the net.
New files tend to look as they should. Although this change to CC is very recent. It seems like a configuration / preference issue that I can't find an answer for.
I have a work around at the moment.
Select view in menu -> visual aids -> CSS layout backgrounds
This makes all the CSS areas different colours, but you can see black text and items.
Selecting "LIVE" allows you to see what it is actually like.

    Hi,
I just want to confirm the status.
Was the issue resolved by the latest windows Update?

No, it is not solved by the windows updates.
My second post have been wrote after test without remote desktop, and that to lead into error.
But now I have tested again with remote desktop, and catch that the problem appears just when use the IE11 by remote desktop.

  • Dreamweaver CC Design View background image render problem

Why in Dreamweaver CC does the Design View show any background image (CSS or HTML placed) with its top missing? The websites I produce with background images show fine in Live View and in the browser but why does the Design View have a problem with the positioning? CS5 didn't have this problem?

Please see attached screenshots, any ideas? You may not be able to see the red and green annotations, so just incase:
    1. WRONG: The left screenshot is the Design View from Dreamweaver and this moves the grey background image up behind the header
    2. CORRECT: The right screenshot is the Browser View and this is fine, showing the grey background image in the correct position.

  • Text in design view is appearing as garbled gibberish?

As you'll see in the screenshot - all text is churned out as gibberish in design view.
I'm guessing this is some simple fix - but havent a clue what it is.
    Am Mac Dreamweaver CS3.
    Any help appreciated!

Could be corrupted fonts.  Try font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif.

  • Rendering - position on report preview is not where field is in design view

    Hello all,
I have looked over the forums as best as I can and have not located a post like this. Please feel free to point out an existing post if there is one.
I am working on a report that is designed to print payment information on pre-printed check stock. In the first link please notice that in Group Footer 4 I have highlighted a field that while in the design view it appears where I would like it when I run this report in the software it will be generated in it shows up in a different location as seen in the second link. The dollar amount of $365.07 (called @PeriodNetpay) is designed to show to the right of the check number (called CMRef) in design view and instead shows to the left of the check number in the rendering software.
[report as seen in design view|http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/201108151100.png/]
[report as seen in rendering of report|http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/828/201108151059.png/]
I was originally using Crystal Reports Professional 11.0.0.1282 to create the report. The rendering software I am working in uses the 11.5.0.0 version of the reports rendering engine ( I can provide a dll version on request, please just let me know the necessary dll file name) and is called Crystal Report XI Release 2 .NET 2005 Server in add/remove programs. This happens intermittently so I am not able to repeat the problem at will. It always shows correctly when I preview the report in Crystal
I have verified that there is no formula present that drives the X position of the field as seen in the Object Size and Position window. I am not aware of any other formula location that can modify the field to move as shown. I am unable to control the rendering software version.
Any suggestions on where to look next or any other observations would be appreciated.
    Thank you
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
You were close, I moved your post to .NET SDK forums. Since it works in the designer and only an issue in your app...
Only thing I can suggest is you verify you are on Service Pack 6 and the redist package?

Then it could be due to the default Printer you have as compared to the user. Some of those Drivers are very old and have problems. Get them to install the latest Printer drivers and make sure they are .NET compatible...
And what Language are they using, I'm wondering if this has to do with right to left orientation....
    Thanks

  • I cannot view clips on the viewer window - as it appears black, However, I can still hear the sounds in the background.

    Hello!
I cannot view any of the clips (not from event browser nor from timeline) on the viewer window - as it appears black/or blank/ or static ! However, I can still hear the sounds in the background.
P.S I have chosen the filter: ALL
Please help me with that I'm getting desperate ! I need to finish a project within one week :(
    A million thanks in advance

    Hi F. Carl
The clip is intact and it has video and audio.
I have worked on it before and all was fine until I lost the work when it got frozen!
    The issue is:
I have a (MOV.) ready clip that I wanted to edit a bit, hence I have imported the clip (import media) and whenever I try to work on it, the black screen prohibits me from doing anything.
Any ideas please ... It's really strange !

  • In design view, how to change the white panel background so white text displays? (I keep having to go to Live view to see it)

When I'm adding white text it doesn't show up as the background input panel is white, and I keep having to go into Live view to see the paragraph spacings etc. Is there a way round this, other than changing the text colour in CSS to, for instance, black, and then changing it back before I upload the page?

Hi, and thanks, but it's my fault, I think I'm describing it wrong!
I've attached two screenshots from that area of the screen, one with the white text on the white background (showing as invisible) and the other where I've highlighted the text so you can see where it is. The background .jpg isn't a solid colour, it's a pattern, and if I added an equivalent pattern to the text area div, it wouldn't line up properly on all sreen resolutions, so that's why I gave that div a transparent background. When I go into Live view, the page displays perfectly, but in Design view I can't see to make amendments to the paragraphs etc.

  • Background in live view different from design view

Why when I am looking at my page in design view it shows up black like I want it to, but when I go to live view or view it on the internet it shows up like the template color that it was when started?

Without the code, it's pretty tough to say what might be happening.
One thing to look at would be the order of you css, including the links to external .css files in the <head> of the page.
If you have two like selectors, for example, two versions of: body {background-color:some color here;}, the one that comes last in the stylesheet links, embedded css, or in the html itself (inline css) will be the one that's used by the browser.

  • White box keeps appearing over list items in design view, I want to know why ?

In my footer area, I have 4 vertical lists that act as my sitemap links, but when I hover over them in design view the entire list gets replaced with a white box and then when I move my mouse away the white box disapears and the list shows again. This does not happen in live view but I would like to know why it does that, or if this will happen when the site goes live, or it just a design view bug.
    thank you for any help

  • External/Remote Images no longer appear in Design View!

    Hi,
    First post here.
Suddenly external/remote images in Dreamweaver CS3 no longer appear when viewed in Design View.
All I get now is grey boxes!
I have tried toggling 'Display External Files' on and off, made sure Cache is off (tried it with on too) and nothing seems to make a difference.
If anyone could help please, it's so annoying
    Thanks,
    James

    Windows XP.
I'm an experienced web designer, 10+ years so you will have to trust me my code is fine.
It just shows the grey boxes in place of where the images should be.

  • SSI do not appear in design view; CS4

All of a sudden..  my ssi's do not appear in design view in CS4.  This is occuring in multiple web sites that prevously DID display SSI's
Yes..  I do have  Preverances --> Invisible Elements -->  Server Sides Includes: Show contents of  include file IS checked
Yes..  I have checked both the local and remote information in Site definitions .. all are correct. (and none have changed since the problem emerged) All sites are set to site root relative.
Yes..  I have checked each include. None has any doc type, html or body tags.
No.. LIve View is not turned on
    Yes.. the pages all validate
Yes.. I have tried to 'start from scratch' .. new site, new site definitions.. new .shtml pages and new includes. No love!
After inserting a new SSI using the insert menu  (typical code result: <!--#include virtual="/redesign/includes/quickClicks.htm" -->) the properties bar seems to get stuck .. displaying the ssi code and not allowing me to select other elements on the page to edit properties.  A restart of Dreamweaver solves the problem.  But boy is this annoying.
All of the includes do display properly when uploaded to the web server and viewed in a browser.
I've searched the forum..  and read any post that seemed even remotely relavant and have not been able to solve the problem.
I would really appreciate your help.  I am a web designer and have used Dreamweaver for many, many years.

If Dreamweaver is acting erratically, or if you see a message saying "the following JavaScript error(s) occurred",  it's usually a sign of a corrupt cache file. The first thing to try should always be to delete the file cache. If that doesn't work, delete your personal Configuration folder. Full instructions are in Deleting a corrupted cache file.

  • Img Does not appear in Design View

    Dreamweaver 8
Have an image that I would presume has a simple enough presence in the page...
    <table width="985" border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" height="100">
       <tr>
          <img src="Includes/Images/ButtonsNBanners/bnrPrimaryTop.png" alt="test" width="1074" height="94" border="0" usemap="#Map1">
       </tr>
    </table>
...and sure enough the image appears as expected at runtime.
But within Dreamweaver Design View it does not appear at all.
    Why?
I have multiple other images on this page that all appear within the designer as expected, but not this one.
My main problem right now is that I need a map associated with this image and would really like to use DW's tools to create and position the <area> tags.
Has anyone seen this sort of behavior in DW8 before?
    All input welcome and appreciated!!!

That was it KathH --- THANKS!!!
Had created the row w/out <td> cells to carry the top banner (sort of cheating) on spanning the cells i guess ( )
Anyway, re-wrote so that the banner table was independant and did not require span and picked up the data table independantly.
Problem solved and designer picked up the image precisely.
    Thanks again!!!
Curious though that the image is dependant on the <td> tag.  I would have expected any image called within the page to display in the designer regardless of location in the html.
Oh well, fixed and onto the next challenge.
    Once more THANKS!!!

  • Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Here's what I've found on the issue:
Pantone color definitions have changed (coinciding with CS6) — they are now "Pantone+" (I think that's what they're called). The "+" apparently means they're now LAB colors. Lab colors are not properly displayed in Preview (or in Finder previews) — they display as black (as far as I can tell, in all circumstances). I'm sure it's a tad more complicated than that, but that's the gist.
Now the bad news — nobody seems to know anything about a fix or workaround (unless you convert your PDFs to process — this might be a fix for sending to clients). It causes issues for me in AI files — being able to view them in the finder (with previews) is a HUGE time saver for my workflow... when they're all black, not so much.
In my chat with a director of product dev at Adobe, they placed the responsibility to fix on Apple (assuming Apple wants to support Pantone color definitions in their OS).
