Only source code is available.

  • File will not open in Design View

    I needed to add new file types, which I have done before with CS4 and CS5, but it doesn't seem to be working with CS6. I've followed the instructions here: http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/change-add-recognized-file-extensions.html
    but after restarting Dreamweaver CS6 the 'Design View' tab is still greyed out and I can only view in code view. What am I missing?

    David: the filename(s) are not listed in the 'Open in code view' panel.
    Okay, 6 hours later I decide to do what the instructions said NOT to do. Which is alter the exentions.txt file and the MMDocumentTypes.xml file directly IN the Dreamweaver CS6 folder. (original instructions said NOT to change them there because the program doesn't look there first. It looks in the User/Library/blah/blah folder.) Well, how about that, I change the files directly IN the Dreamweaver CS6 folder and now my files are available in 'Split' and 'Design' views. This should be helpful to others trying to add new extensions to their list.
    Please let someone know they should change your instructions on the Dreamweaver website.

  • Disappearing Design View Toolbar on iOS

    Hi there, recently had some issues on BC. When viewing my admin panel via iphone/ipad it seems as though design view is unavailable for me when viewing it through iOS devices. I'm stuck in HTML view and theres no design view tab like on the desktop version. This obv means I can't access the toolbar to add in images and so on. Is there a way of restoring it? It was there about a month ago last time I checked but it seems to have vanished!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
    This definitely appears to be a bug if only happening on iOS (iPad/iPhone).  Please submit a case or reach direct chat support so they can investigate this further to confirm.

  • Inserting tabbed navigation code makes my web page not display in design view..

    Hi everyone..
    I am on Dreamweaver 8 for MAC, and was working on a couple of web pages..these pages included divs and tables. But when I tried inserting a tabbed navigation I found at:
    http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/tabcontent.htm
    In a nutshell, it asked me for step 1 to:
    Step 1: Insert the        below CSS and script into the HEAD section of your page:
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="tabcontent.css" />
    <script type="text/javascript" src="tabcontent.js">
    * Tab Content script v2.2- © Dynamic Drive DHTML code library (www.dynamicdrive.com)
    * This notice MUST stay intact for legal use
    * Visit Dynamic Drive at http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ for full source code
    </script>
    The next step was this:
    Step 2: Finally, simply add the below      HTML to where you wish the Tab Content to appear on the page:
    <h3>Demo #1- Basic implementation</h3>
    <ul id="countrytabs" class="shadetabs">
    <li><a href="#" rel="country1" class="selected">Tab 1</a></li>
    <li><a href="#" rel="country2">Tab 2</a></li>
    <li><a href="#" rel="country3">Tab 3</a></li>
    <li><a href="#" rel="country4">Tab 4</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.dynamicdrive.com">Dynamic Drive</a></li>
    </ul>
    <div style="border:1px solid gray; width:450px; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 10px">
    <div id="country1" class="tabcontent">
    Tab content 1 here<br />Tab content 1 here<br />
    </div>
    <div id="country2" class="tabcontent">
    Tab content 2 here<br />Tab content 2 here<br />
    </div>
    <div id="country3" class="tabcontent">
    Tab content 3 here<br />Tab content 3 here<br />
    </div>
    <div id="country4" class="tabcontent">
    Tab content 4 here<br />Tab content 4 here<br />
    </div>
    </div>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var countries=new ddtabcontent("countrytabs")
    countries.setpersist(true)
    countries.setselectedClassTarget("link") //"link" or "linkparent"
    countries.init()
    </script>
    <p><a href="javascript:countries.cycleit('prev')" style="margin-right: 25px; text-decoration:none">Back</a> <a href="javascript: countries.expandit(3)">Click here to select last tab</a> <a href="javascript:countries.cycleit('next')" style="margin-left: 25px; text-decoration:none">Forward</a></p>
    <hr />
    Well, I did all the steps required, but when I put this inside a div I had inside a table, all of a sudden I couldnt see anything in my design view, only two tables that arent even the same size..When I take out all this code, I get back my regular page..Can I see this tabbed navigation in my design view? Unfortunately, I dont have the spry widgets since I am on Dreamweaver 8..If I preview it in both Safari and Firefox (on Mac Firefox/3.0.8) (Safari 3.2.1) I can see everything fine, including the tabbed navigation..But designing in code isnt really helpful because I want to see what it looks like in design view, in case we change things-its just easier for me to work on..So I assume there is something in this code that is making my design view show nothing..
    Update:I tried taking out the code again, but this time, I couldnt see anything again, even without this code..
    I know that I can go to validation website, and I got a lot of errors-but all the pages I have that are in the same style have those same errors too—and they display fine..its only when I insert this specific piece of code that everything goes haywire..Is it even possible to view tabbed navigations (like the one in the above link) inside of Dreamweaver Design View?
    Any help would be appreciated..

    DW8 doesn't render any dynamic content, so I'd say it's a no go. You'll just have to live with that limitation or upgrade to CS4...

  • Linking to a specific spry tab in design view

    hi there,
    I am a dreamweaver novice and i only use design view for the most part. I am trying to make a link from some content in one tab to another tab. I looked up many such threads and they say that the spryurlutils.js is to be used. I do not know how and where to insert the script, because that area is uneditable in the code view. Here is the link to the URL.
    http://192.168.17.13/testpagetraining.html
    In the 'About training' tab, in the 2nd paragraph , there are the words "The Partnership".
    I would like to make a link to the 3rd tab "The Partnership" from those words in the first tab.
    Thanks.

  • CS4: Tabbed panel headers misplaced in Design view

    If I add a Spry tabbed panel to a blank page, it behaves
    fine.
    But if I add a tabbed panel inside a table cell, then the
    tabs themselves detach from the body of the panel and appear up at
    top left of the table itself.
    When the page is viewed in a browser or in Live View, it
    sorts itself out, so the issue affects only the Design View afaics.
    It's annoying though, and the misplaced tabs obscure other parts of
    the design.
    Does anyone else get this? Is it a known issue?

    I am having the same issue with Dreamweaver CS5 for Mac. I also can’t find any way to fix the issue other than quitting dreamweaver and re-starting the program.
    I doubt Adobe will ever fix it, since I’ve had so many issues with Dreamweaver going back to Macromedia days that Adobe still hasn’t bothered to fix since taking it over.
    I just hope someday another company will create a product that works well and I can throw Dreamweaver into the trash.
    I know that isn’t a very constructive post, or an answer, but maybe if I subscribe to this thread someone will eventually have a solution.
    I have tried changing the display fonts in preferences, zooming in and out of the Design view, with no results (if the cursir is offset, zooming in with design view won’t change the offset.
    It just sucks when you have an editor you can’t edit with and an FTP client you can’t use to move files around with. I basically have been reduced over the years to using Dreamweaver strictly as a code editor and will most likely be switching to something like BBedit and getting Dreamweaver completely out of my life.

  • How do i get two spry tabbed panels to render properly in design view?

    I have inserted two spry tabbed panels into a simple web page.  The second panel appears off to the side of my design view window.  When i preview it in a browser it comes out fine but i can't seem to get the design view the same.  If i insert new paragraphs the tabbed panels look okay in the design view, but when viewing in the browser theres waaay to much space between them.  Any suggestions?

    Without seeing your page, not much to suggest other than making sure your code is valid.  DW is sensitive to coding errors that some browsers will overlook.

  • Why hasn't the tutorial been updated to reflect 4.7's lack of a Design View?

    This series uses version 4.5 which is no longer available. It frequently mentions the DESIGN VIEW and how easy it is to use, yet there is NO design view (nor is there a Components tab on the lower left box) in current version 4.7. Not only that, but the code used in several of the first day examples is not valid in Flash Builder 4.7 / Flash Player 11 and the browser refuses to show those examples (btw: most of the examples  still work in 4.7). There are now ActionScript related errors in the examples that demonstrated Design View. You've had 2 years to fix this...
    It seems that you  might be shooting yourself in the foot here by:
    1. Not giving new users who want to learn how to work in this environment current information (or at least linbking to new information). This is NOT a way to encourage new customers!
    2. Not showing any work around options - such as linking to Dreamweaver, Illustrator or Flash Pro in some way? or updating the tutorial and showing how to create the components in the code view?
    3. Marketing? Standards? groups within the company need to anticipate and develop fixes BEFORE making such drastic changes - this has NOT been done and it reflects poorly on the product (which is actually pretty cool)!
    What is the alternative?
    Aren't there other tools in CC that can be integrated in some already well defined way? i.e. I can edit a menu in Encore by selecting "edit in Photoshop". Why can't something like this be available?
    I realize that this is one of Adobe's evolutionary mashup products (ie. Flash uses the timeline that originated in Director, Premiere & AfterEffects use tools acquired from CultEffects and AutoMasker, etc.) so there are many behind the scenes licensing issues that have determined the product evolution (and the products occasionally evolve in unexpected ways) - but it seems a bit contrarian to remove useful features without providing workarounds that users will think are BETTER than the old way!

    Why complicate yourself? Adobe has almost pulled itself off from enterprise level flex delevopment to create new HTML5 tooling.
    They will not pay to upgrade a training that is on the verge of getting unsupported. Just satisfy your training needs with other resources, such as lynda.com, pluralsight, etc.
    Always remember, we are talking about capitalist companies here, if its not done for profit, then its not possible.

  • How to hide content in design view within Dreamweaver?

    How can I hide content in design view within Dreamweaver?
    I have a tabbed content menu that uses some javascript. Everything looks great in Live view, but when I go to design view, all the content goes way beyond the div. How can I make it to where I can hide the content in that div in design view or wrap it completely inside of there? It's really hard to explain which is why I provided some pictures!
    LIVE VIEW
    DESIGN VIEW
    Thank you in advance for all the help!
    Dalton

    Humm....... you want to hide it in Design View whilst working on the rest of the site?
    If that is the case set the menu container <div> to display: none; -
    <div id="menu" style="display: none;">This is the content menu</div>
    Then either set it to display: block; when you're ready to view it live or remove the style completely.

  • Flex 3 Design view disappears

    I have recently downloaded Flex Builder 3 for a trial. I have
    been happily exploring and building simple apps and suddenly I
    can't see the design view in any project or application. When I
    click the "Design" tab I see a grey blank area with no visible
    components.I unistalled/reinstalled the product but the problem
    remains. Am i overlooking something simple being a newbie or has

  • Design View - Can't believe it's gone!

    I have been using Flash Builder since it was Flex Builder. Actually, since flex was introduced. Once of the best features of Flash Builder over other IDE's was the ability to use a GUI to layout elements on the page. I just downloaded the trial version on Flash Builder 4.7 to see all of the new features and start playing with it, and that's when I noticed that there was NO Source/Design tabs. At first, I thought there must be a check mark somewhere to turn them on. After I could not find any settings that enabled the Design Veiw, I did a search on Google, and found out that it has been removed.
    REALLY! OK. I have read peoples comments saying that if you are a Real programmer, you don't need it. Well, if I am a real driver, I really don't need leather seats and Air Conditioning either. The Design View was what set Flash Builder apart from other IDE's! And you got rid of it!?
    Well, this is one developer who will not be upgrading to 4.7, when I could just use a free IDE to get the same results. Adobe, if you really care about your END USERS - The people that actually use your products, don;t change things that made your products what they are! When something works, don't fix it!
    I can not imaging Flash Builder ever seeing a Version 5 if the Design View is not brought back.
    So, hey... Adobe management - it's your lively hood because it's us developers that use your products that pay for your new releases that keep you in business. You have to show me why I should spend the $250 to upgrade when there are many FREE products out there that will now do everything that 4.7 will do. I just don't get it.
    Thanks for listening, and I hope this comment is not just lost, forgotten or locked and displaced.

    I guess that when they set at the round table, and discussed what it would mean if they removed the Design View, they must have though... nevermind, I have no idea what they were thinking. All I know is, I love Adobe Products, I have purchased the CS suites since CS2, and I have been using Flex since it was introduced. Design View, however such a "small" part of the overall Flex concept, is a very important part. The concept was to have an environment that allowed you to write code (actionscript) and bundle that with a user interface (Flash) and build these applications quickly (RAD). Sure, Flash Builder will still allow you to develop the coding part quickly, but the Design View was the key that tied it all together, allowing you to create the backend (code) and the front end (user interface) quickly. I do not care that you are a fabulous coder that feels they are so good that they do not need a design view. I want it, and I am the one who is buying it.
    So, I guess Adobe must have felt there where enough people that will still buy the 4.7 and beyond concept to keep it alive. I feel... it will not be me.
    Adobe, I really like your products, But this is something that really needs to be re-thought. Who ever the person was that made the decision to get rid of this, you need to now make the decision to let them all go. Because they effectivaly killed Flex for many many people.
    I hope you figure all of this out soon, because we will continue to use 4.6 for a little while. Then, we will start to change our development practices. Are you wanting to push people back to Flash Pro? Well, this may be the way we have to go and forget about Flex. I hope this will not be the case, but we will see.
    Adobe can make the decision to not listen, and I can make the decision to not spend. Last I understood, they were in business to make products they can sell. So, I know I will still be here with my money, even if Flex falls to the side.

  • Design View is disabled

    For some strange reason, when I open up an .htm or .html file, I am only seeing Code View, and the Design View (and Split View) tabs are disabled (greyed out), so I can't click on them.  This is what it looks like:
    If I open up an .asp file, then Design View works.  If I rename my .htm file to .asp, then it works too... but the second I rename it back, Design View stops working.
    I checked through this forum and found http://forums.adobe.com/message/226194, which is another forum discussion presenting the same problem.  The answer to that post says to go to Edit > Preferences > File Types / Editors, and remove the extension from the "Open in code view" setting.  But I checked my Preferences, and neither .htm nor .html are in the "Open in code view" field:
    This is somewhat baffling, as it was working last week, and I haven't done anything to the system (to my knowledge) that would have changed a setting.  I'm using Dreamweaver CS3.
    I searched through the Web, Adobe's documentation, and this forum... I couldn't find an answer.
    Has anyone seen this problem before?  Can anyone suggest a fix?  I'm sure it's some setting somewhere (perhaps in a config file) that might have gotten corrupted or changed by something.
    Thanks!

    In the absence of better suggestions you could try forcing DW to re-create your Config folder via this procedure:
    How to re-create the Dreamweaver user configuration folder (CS3 on Windows XP, Vista)

  • Dreamweaver CS6 for Mac: Is there a way to display the file path in Design View?

    Under Windows, DW's Design View shows you the path to the current file, right next to the document tab. I noticed the Mac version omits this handy feature. For those of us who work with lots of similarly named files distinguished only by folders, being able to quickly see what folder we're in is crucial. (see image below -- that's where Windows shows you the path, but is blank in Mac)
    Is there something I'm missing, or some way to get that functioning? I know that I can see the path if I switch to Live View, but that is kludgy and breaks my workflow.

    I use CoderPlus workspace & tabbed panels.  For me, the file url is on the far right side. See screenshot.
    If you click the "Page Icon" in upper right corner to tile, the URL shows on the left side.

  • Design view in DW MX 2004 v7.0.1

    How can I set up the design view to show me what the page
    actually looks like? I'm going back to doing tabled webpages
    because it obviously can't handle CSS div tags, but the design view
    shows my tables (rows/columns) with dashed lines, a bunch of green
    arrows and pixel widths, etc. All I want to see is what the page
    looks like. Am I screwed and have to alt+tab over to an IE window
    to view my changes? Note: I'm working on a prototype for a
    website-these are just going to be click-thru screens (no real
    data, no 508 compliance, IE only, internal application).

    > How can I set up the design view to show me what the

    Actually looks like? In which browser? In which version? In
    short, there
    is no way to do this. Preview in the desired browsers to see
    what it
    actually looks like. And code the page so that it validates
    to get the most
    reliable cross-browser rendering - but be aware, DMX2004 is
    not the best at
    rendering CSS layouts.
