Design Zone Comments - Anyone Watching?

In the "Design Zone" section of the Cisco site, I see that comments on the design guides are (occasionally) answered by some of the relevant staff. It appears there was an issue with notifications a while back -- is that still a problem? I've gotten no response to a comment I posted almost 3 weeks ago.
I'd like to post a more important, detailed question, but I don't want to go wasting my time if no one is going to see/answer it ...

The comments in Design Zone are being read. Those comments do send notifications, so I will make sure they are all working correctly. Additionally, I will forward a note internally to make sure your comment is addressed.

If you let me know what you want to achieve with the AP, I could try to provide you to steps to configure the AP as needed.
As basic information remember that the access points are layer 2 devices . To be able to configure the unit you need that the unit gets an IP address from the DHCP server on the network and you access the AP via the GUI or CLI using the IP address the DHCP server gave it or if not you can also configure an static IP address on the unit using the console port and assign the required IP address to the BVI1 interface.

AFAIK, at bugs.sun.com it isn't possible to comment on bugs, watch them or vote for them anymore.
I found out there's now https://bugs.openjdk.java.net but I can't find any way to register.
So, how the hell I can follow the progress on bugs? Or add additional information if I have?
It's unbelievable that in 2013 we are still unable to have a decent bug reporting system for the JDK/JRE!!!!!

Upgrade to Final Cut 10.0.7 destroyed my generators created in Motion that include drop zones. Anyone experienced the same problem ?

In Motion 5 I created generators that included a drop zone. The objective it to bring them into Final Cut and insert into the drop zone a clip of the same duration.
In FCX 10.0.6 I used to bring a clip to the time line and re size it to the exact duration of my generator. Then I bring the generator to the time line and selected the generator, click in the drop zone of the published parameters menu and select this clip I wanted to insert. The result was the generator using my clip and the clip playing during all the duration of the generator with the generator effect.
Now, with 10.0.7 I can’t make that work. When I click in the clip I would like to import into the drop zone, the result is that there’s just a frozen image of the clip (in the same place I clicked with the mouse)
Is this a known problem of 10.0.7. It used to work well in 10.0.6

I can't see that the update would have any effect on custom generators as they are housed separately from FCP X.
Many weird things happen as a result of corrupt preferences which can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do using this free app.

Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
1. Ensure that only FCP X is selected.
2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.
There is absolutely no danger in trashing preferences and you can do it as often as you like.
The preferences are kept separately from FCP X and if there aren't any when FCP X opens it automatically creates new ones . . . instantly.

Bug or by Design? Commented-out ADF components still appear on .JSP page

I normally use all .jspx pages, but for a couple of pages I'm using a .jsp page because I need to include <f:verbatim> HTML code.
I'm noticing an odd occurrence where ADF component statements contained within comments still appear on the .jsp page (this does not occur with .jspx pages, and, regular comments w/o ADF components do not appear.) For example the following still shows up on the rendered page?:

This statement is not contained with the verbatim tag which appears later. I've also re-saved, re-compiled, etc. to make sure I wasn't using an older version of the page.
Is this a bug or something I'm not aware of related to  within a .jsp page?

The different comments jsp are:

<%-- This is a jsp comment --%>
The difference is the HTML comment is send to the browser, but the browser should not render comments to the user.
The jsp comments are not send to the browser, since they are stripped off by the compiler.
This reminds me of one project, where we used the write HTML comments on the jsp-pages like

Cannot post a comment on yahoo or watch a yahoo only video using Firefox

I used to be able to post a comment and watch videos using the Yahoo website. A few weeks ago, I can no longer post a comment or watch video on only the Yahoo site. Other website I can post to and watch their videos. If I go to Google Crome, I can post and watch videos on the Yahoo site, so I know I have not been blocked by Yahoo that would prevent me from this.

Recently both the Yahoo! Toolbar extension and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause an issue like that. Disable or uninstall those add-ons.

In a text zone comments I will change the size of letters.

Wanted to check and see if this is alredy done.
With time in UTC, and the users Time Zone, does anyone have a good function already created to see if its in DST. i know that its the second Sunday in March is forward, and First Sunday in November is back.
or maybe CVI has one built in I can't find. Either way, it wouldn't be hard to do but don't know a good way to figure out certain weekday of a month.

According to Microsoft's help description for their mktime() function, you can fill in a tm structure for the date you wish to test, but setting the tm_isdst field to a negative value first. This will force the function to calculate the correct value for the field - in other words it will then tell you if DST was in effect for that date.
I'm not sure if this is standard ANSI behaviour for this function, but it should be easy enough for you to test it out.

Comments show in iWeb, but not on published site (on Mobileme)

Does anyone know how I can get the comments I see on my blog entries in the iWeb app to show up on my website when published (I'm using Apple's Mobileme service).
They have always worked in the past, and I recently redesigned the site. I changed the theme from a predesigned one to the blank white one (and then designed my own look). As stated before I can see the people's comments in iWeb, but when I published all the previous entries (in the new design), the comments aren't showing in the archive page nor the individual entry pages. Is there a fix?

Oh, rats. Do I need to remove the folder that I published to? I'm not even sure where to find it. I have republished successfully with the comments still in iweb but they don't show up on-line. I'd really like to get them back on if possible.

COPA vs. BCS design decisions (ex. profitability by customer in BCS)

We are trying to meet a business goal of identifying gross profit by customer.
We realize "customer" as a field in BCS is problematic, so we are thinking of only storing certain customers in BCS with a catch-all "Others" customer - with the goal of keeping the BCS data volume reasonable.
Consider the scenario: US company sells material X qty 1 to Spain company for 100 with cost of 30 (therefore profit of 70)
Spain sells same material X qty 1 to third-party customer for 120.
Spain from a local perspective profits 20, however the group from an overall perspective profits 90 ( the US revenues of 100 eliminate against the Spain COGS of 100 so you are left with revenue of 120, COGS 30, profit 90 - from the group perspective ).
We want to know how to see, on a customer level, the 90 profit from these transactions.
We do not believe COPA can do this, can this may be accomplished in BCS?
If you do a "one-sided" elimination (elimination driven by the revenue side only) of the intercompany revenue the system would not be able to reference customer on the elimination. We are wondering if this scenario of analyzing overall profit by customer can be accomplished by BCS functionality and are particularly interested in knowing what functionality you used to accomplish this requirement and in what sequence within the BCS close (BCS monitor).

Also we are interested in any opinions/comments anyone may have about design decisions regarding BCS vs. COPA in BW. BCS business content identifies a sample design for a BCS data model including item, company, movement type, trading partner, functional area, etc. COPA (as configured in R3/ECC and extracted to BW) commonly features analysis by customer, material, etc. Considering BCS features elimination functionality, what design concerns have people faced with respect to fields that they include in both reporting systems? Obviously a prominent concern is sizing of the systems, but what common characteristics has anyone decided to feature in both systems? What considerations drove the decisions as to what common characteristics to feature in both BCS and COPA?

High Level Network Design

Hi Guys
I am posting this because I am starting my career into network design and want some help in it. I am at present in need of a high level design overview as I need to prepare some high level network design documents. Can anyone shower some thoughts in it as how about doing this and if any there is a template for HDD so that it maybe useful.
Also I believe in keeping information as transparent as possible to the readers of the document and need someone to explain in very simple terms if at all it is possible.

Hi Vin,
I would check the Cisco SBA and Validated Design Zone as a first pass.
Lots of great design documents there.
As for how I would create a high level design - keep it simple. You just want an overview of the connectivity - e.g. for a dual-site head office with 100+ branch wan, I would only show a single branch site as a template.
Every network is different, but the more documentation you write and read the more you will define your own style.
Apologies I can't give you any of my customer's documentation - NDA's and everything!

Multi-Zone Audio with itunes?

I am trying to develop a Multi-Zone Audio System, and i would like to use itunes as my basic software. Since all my family are using ipod/iphone.
My question is how to get 2 or more itunes playing different songs at the same time? or how 1 itunes play different playlist?
Although itunes allow user to create more than 1 libraries, still can't compatible to multi-zone function
anyone have other idea or suggestion?

I believe you're going to need multiple computers hosting iTunes to these Airport Express units. Each iTunes can only play one feed, to as many (or as few speakers as you'd like).
So your iMac can stream to the bedroom while watching Youtube videos locally (with local speakers disabled), and another computer (Mac or PC, desktop or laptop) can be providing internet radio to the kitchen.
I'll follow this thread to see if there actually is a device (or software) that allows for multiple source playback from the same computer.
