Designate area to be transparent

I have a complex shape will lots of gaps, nad in those gaps is a layer that is colored orange. Is there a way to designate that all spaces with orange should appear transparent when saving as png?
I cannot just delete the orange because it is convering things from other layers beneath which I cannot simply delete.

If I understand correctly what your have, this will require to put all layers as sublayers in one layer. Your orange should be on the top sublayer and be with 0 opacity. It will punch transparent wholes in all sublayers when you make the containing layer a knockout group. The image is an example of this. The star is with 0 opacity in the top sublayer. Make sure the containing layer is the target (double circle in the layer's panel) when you click Knockout group.

    I can't read PDF's in my Firefox browser anymore. It looks as if they are semi-transparent: The fonts are blurry, and they have the same color as my Aero theme frame. I can see my desktop photo through the fonts. When I save the PDF's and open them offline, they are displayed as they should. The prints also look normal. Btw, when I change to a classic theme, PDF's are displayed normal.

  • Are the Oracle Transparent Gateways SAP approved

    Gentlemen: Thanks in advance for your reply. I am new on this gateway world and I am trying to find the best solution for us.
    Situation ... DB Migration of SAP 4.5B from MSSQL to Oracle8 in Sun Solaris (No problem with this).
    We run a VB application that connects to SAP using SAPComm to read from SAP and update, asl well.
    Problem: We will do the migration but the developer of the application in VB may not be open to change their coding, and we found the option of replicating db tables from Oracle to MSSQL, once we migrate, with the Oracle Gateway, which produce something transparent to the VB application.
    Questions:
    1. Does SAP approve this kind of accesses/replications to their DBs without us affecting our license agreement with them? I should ask this question to SAP, but if you know already, that will defenitely help?
    2. I understand this tool (Oracle Transparent Gateway) is available as of Oracle9i. Our migrated SAP system will be running on Oracle8, but it is my understanding it does not matter the version of Oracle we are running our db, because what we procure is the Oracle9i to be installed separately to interact with both SAP (Oracle8) and MSSQL. Is that right? Could I build that scenario? If yes, how much is for the Oracle9i license. Should acquire it through SAP (I guess not)?
    Thanks,
    Juan-Carlos

    You can use Oracle Streams to replicate from Oracle to SQL Server. This is a feature of Oracle 9.2.
    This feature uses the Oracle Transparent Gateway for SQL Server to communicate between Oracle and SQL Server.
    This is licensed separately from the database. Oracle 8 can communicate with Oracle 9i using DB links.
    You can purchase a license for the each of these products at http://oraclestore.oracle.com/

  • Are there any transparent themes for s^3?

    Hello,
    I've noticed that s^3 themes can get a little bit transparent, so are there any REALLY transparent themes for my C7?

    Yes, there are (I'm using Nokia theme Dark (T) by LA). Try a goole search with it (I think I'm not aloud to post it here).
    As a personal opinion, it's really fabulous.

  • How do you make the black area in an FLV playback white or transparent

    Trying to make the FLV playback black area white or
    transparent, because there is a black flash that shows up when play
    the movie. I am trying to alleviate this by changing the black area
    to another color or alpha.

    In your publish settings, click on the HTML tab and look for
    a field entitled 'Window Mode'. One of the choices is 'Transparent
    Windowless'. This should work if you have objects that don't have
    backgrounds. If you are looking to make video transparent, so far
    in my experience, the only video I have been able to make this work
    with is a Quicktime Animation with the RGB + Alpha. Also, when you
    import your video to the stage, make sure to click on the 'Encode
    Alpha Channel' box. That will give you the transparency you're
    looking for.

  • After updating, menus are now transparent & windows in list view black!

    I recently updated via the software update control panel some security updates and a few misc. other application updates and have now discovered that Finder pull-down menus are now totally transparent with the text appearing somewhat transparent (still readable with effort, depending on background clutter on desktop). Additionally, Finder windows in list view appear with black backgrounds and the text to folders and items within that window also is black meaning that I can only see the icons and am unable to read file and folder names.
    Attempts to fix this problem have thus far included permissions repair, download and reinstall the 10.4.8 combo updater and these have not worked.
    I am not blaming this issue on the updates, but it coincides in timing with that and I am quite puzzled. One interesting note is that a folder now exists on the main drive directory called "Developer," which was not there before.
    Does anyone have a suggestion or an idea of what this could be?
    Thanks

    Onyx may be causing problems.  Don't use it on a non-backed up system, as cleaning caches may damage them, and make things not work.    Make sure your Spotlight indexes all drives you wish to be searchable.  Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Spotlight and add each hard drive to the Privacy section, and then remove it again.  Then click on the Spotlight menu every half hour to see when it stops saying that it is indexing.  It might take a few hours.  But once done, it should be fixed.

  • Amend bleed area to as white not transparent

    Hi
    I have just switched over to creative cloud for Indesign from CS5.5.  The bleed area shows as transparent rather than the usual white as in CS5.5.  Can anyone tell me how to change the setting so this area is white not transparent please?

    Hi Peter
    Can you tell me how to control it though please?  How do I amend it from transparent to white please?
    Thanks

  • Transparent area

    OK, I think this is a simple question but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere!
    I'm overlaying my Flash Player with a 'subtitlesArea' where subtitles will appear. Dumb question, but how in Actionscript 3.0 do you set the area to be transparent?
    My code for setting the area is:
                                              subtitlesArea.x = player.x;
                                subtitlesArea.y = player.y;
                                subtitlesArea.width = player.width;
                                subtitlesArea.height = player.height;
    Is it sth as simple as adding:
                                              subtitlesArea.transparency = 1;

    You can set the alpha property to 0 or you can set the visible property to false.
    subtitlesArea.alpha = 0; // 1 for full visibility
    subtitlesArea.visible = false;  // true for full visibility

  • Premiere Pro is not interpreting transparency correctly with the Adobe Creative Cloud 1.8.0.447 update

    Yesterday, I updated to Adobe Creative Cloud 1.8.0.447. I found that after the update, both Premiere Pro CC (2014) and Premiere Pro CC are not ready transparency layers and alpha layers correctly. I have some lower third logos that I use on multiple projects and they are showing up more opaque than they should. Additionally, I have an export preset that uses a watermark. This watermark is showing up more opaque than it should too. I have checked both graphics in After Effects with the new Creative Cloud update and all graphics look fine. It seems to be an issue that is isolated in Premiere. The issue only happens when there is a video layer underneath the graphics. When the graphics are viewed with no video layer underneath, the transparency looks as it should. I have attached a few images showing the problems. They show graphics with and without video layers beneath.

    I was able to resolve the issue by going into File>Project Settings>General and changing the Render from GPU Acceleration (OpenCL) to Software Only. It appears there is an issue with the AMD FirePro D500 graphics card. I was told by a call tech at Adobe that there are issues with the D300, D500, and D700 Graphics cards. However, I have an Intel Iris graphics card on my MacBook Pro and was having the same transparency issue. So, I'm skeptical that the issue is just with the graphics card. The transparency issue did not start on BOTH computers until the latest CC upgrade. For now, the Software Only renderer option fixes the issue. I hope to see a fix in the next CC update. FYI: The Renderer needs to be changed to Software Only in both Premiere Pro Project Settings and Media Encoder Preferences.

    Hello wilsontot_too,
    Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing on your iPhone.  It sounds like you are not noticing transparency on your iPhone.  It may be that you have "Increase Contrast" turned on in your iPhone settings.
    I recommend verifying that Increase Contrast is turned off in Settings>General>Accessibility.

  • Animated gif with transparent background

    When I import in Keynote an animated gif with transparent background. The background becomes white. I did the following tests:
    If I extract a single image from the animated gif and import it in keynote the background is actually transparent but it becomes white when I import the whole gif.
    I also checked with other applications (NeoOffice) and the animated gif does come out with a transparent background.
    Do I do something wrong in Keynote ?

    This has been an ongoing issue for me since I switched from Powerpoint to Keynote. Most of the animated gifs with transparent backgrounds that I used with Powerpoint are no longer transparent in Keynote. You may want to search for those earlier threads on this topic...
    To summarize: I've had to open up my animated gifs in After Effects and use the Color Key effect to restore transparency, with mixed success.
    Good luck!

  • Transparent logo into KN?

    Mac OS10.4.11. Keynote 3.0.2
    Logo created in Freehand.
    I want to place a two colour logo (Call it "A&B") into KN on a colored background without its white picture box surrounding it. JPEG, TIFF, PDF files don't seem to work.
    A Freehand vector EPS logo file works for me. A Photoshop EPS does not... it has a white box. What's the difference?
    I sent the logo files to my client to use in his Windows Powerpoint. His logo files all have white boxes. He says the FH EPS file came in as a blank. What can I send him so the logo is clean... like it had a clipping path around it, without an actual clipping path?
    His comments are:
    I can take the jpeg and convert it to a websafe transparent background GIF in Corel PhotoPaint, but since it is a jpeg, the resolution is not high enough to produce a truly clean looking image.
    I have a couple of programs that can open eps files. Both show that the image is completely blank and also indicate that in the image properties. If you have image content and I don’t the problem may be our email system stripping the content as a perceived threat. You could try imbedding the file in a zip file or emailing it to my home email where the filtering won’t be anywhere near as aggressive.
    My question: What file format will work?

    I can tell you that the difference between your FreeHand EPS and your PhotoShop EPS is that one is a vector and one is a bitmap. Since vectors are defined by the lines that make them up, if a background is not defined, then the object doesn't have one. Bitmaps are defined by their dots and I can't remember if EPS supports transparency of those dots. If no (or if you don't define those areas as being transparent), then you'll have a background every time.
    As mentioned something that looks GREAT on a Mac will not look so hot in PowerPoint for Windows because it doesn't have the very nicer rendering engine that Keynote has. The tips in the other post should help towards trying to find SOME form of middle ground, though. Another thing that might be worth trying is to export the vectors as SVG, convert them with SVG2KEY, Open the resulting file in Keynote and then save THAT as a PowerPoint file. If the shape gets transferred correctly (another big if) then your client will have a logo that can be resized to ANY size or even have it's color changed. This works best on logos or artwork with very few colors, that's why I offered it as a suggestion.

  • How can I place a transparent psd into Illustrator CS4 without effecting my spot colors?

    So, I'm very naive about printing processes and am working with an online book building company. I've asked them how I need to fix this, but don't expect great advice from their design team.
    When saving in Illustrator, I've been receiving the error:
    "When spot colors are used with transparency, changing them to process colors outside of illustrator can generate unexpected results."
    This effected the printing because it left a halo in the shape of the placed transparent .psd. So I need to know how to flatten the transparent psd or something in order to not have it effect the colors below it.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Monika and John. I've been working in Spot colors simply because my client has limited my palette for the screen printing we've been doing on ceramics in the past. Now we want this book to match the colors on the ceramics. But if Pantone bridge back to CMYK would work, I'll do it. I have been saving to PDF by making a combined pdf directly from the .ai folder. My links are all embedded.
    Is there a way to convert all the colors in the document to CMYK at once? Otherwise I'm looking at a very long week.

  • Nvidia 180.22: mrxvt transparency and reasonable benchmarks

    I just got a 9800GT a few days ago. Just now I upgraded from 173.X nVidia drivers to the newest 180 in the repositories. Two questions:
    1) The tabbar transparency in MRXVT has been messed up with the driver upgrade. When I was using 173, it was fine, but using 180 breaks it. Now the tabbar has an odd semi-transparent hue to it, although other mrxvt transparency is fine. IIRC when I tried 177.X I had the same problem. Here's my xorg.conf, do I need to enable anything new with the latest driver? The only transparent-ish thing that has broken is the mrxvt tabbar. I'm not even using real transparency, just pseudo.

    2) I ran glxgears on the old and new drivers. The old ones yielded about 6800 - 6900 FPS on average. The new ones yield about 6900 - 7000 FPS on average. So, about a ~50FPS improvement, not much to write home about. I've looked through other threads and this seems to be about on par for the graphics card I have (but I hear that on other distros nVidia cards can get much better benchmarks). Just want to check, does that sound about right? I'm unexperienced with tweaking Xorg for graphics performance and I basically just have what nvidia-config spit out.
    Thanks.

    Pseudo transparency works by placing a copy of your background in the background of your window. (like behind the words in your terminal)
    True Transparency will do that, and add an image of your other windows that are behind the transparent window.
    If you enable composite, (have a graphics card that can handle it), install xcompmgr and transset-df, then add
    xcompmgr -C & # The & keeps it from waiting for the program to stop before doing anything else.
    to you autostart, it will enable transparency. I'm using openbox and it works beautifully.

  • How do I change the transparency grid to gray in Camera Raw 8.7.1?

    I am using Scott Kelby's  The Adobe Photoshop CS6 Book for Digital Photographers. He has a tutorial on Lens Correction in Camera Raw where he uses vertical tilt to correct perspective on an image taken with a 10 mm lens (Chapter 3, page 69 if that matters to anyone). The correction is extreme and after correcting, the areas where the transparency grid would show are gray in his image. On my copy of Camera Raw 8.7.1, I get the familiar checkered transparency grid (I am using the same image supplied from the books web site.  He continues on with a Free Transform and Content-Aware correction to eliminate the "gray" area without explaining how the transparency section in his image got to be gray. Doing a selection on the transparency to complete the Content-Aware is not possible as described in his book. Is something I am missing with PS CC 2014? I have asked four other photographers using CS6 and CC. Two report they have the checkered grid and one has a gray area and yet another has a white area.   How can I get the gray area as described in the book?

    In case you are accessing this discussion by email, please be aware that I edited my last post:
    In have sent a query to the Kelby web site asking for an explanation.
    Great, I was going to suggest that right off the bat in my first post, but refrained from that so as not to be accused of being condescending.
    I always get a gray grid for transparency in ACR, no matter what, never a solid-color gray or solid any-other color.
    To be honest, I can't fathom why you would care that you get the same result.
    Totally off topic:  I can't stand Kelby.  :-/
