Designer 6.0 Patchset 4

I see numerous references to Designer patchset 4 being required for designer to run against Oracle 816.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but where do I get those patches?
Are they required if the database is on a LINUX platform?
Thanks in advance

This seems like a bizarre aproach to me. Designer is made available via Technet, presumably for evaluation purposes. I want to evaluate it, but it does not work.
I am now told that I will have to purchase a product that I have found to be flawed in order to gain access to the bug fix which may fix it.

  • How to find modules using a specific table in Designer 10g?

Hi, we are in a conversion traject from Designer 6.0 to Designer 10g with patchset 10.1.2.5.
Apart from a conversion problem for which we got a workaround (see bug number 8453702) it looks ok now.
But with functional testing I found something strange:
    - in Des10g, when you look at the usages of a table, you do not see the "Used in Module Components" part anymore. That is pretty annoying. Now I found a way to show something with aid of the matrix diagrammer, but i'm not very happy with it.
    My questions:
    - How come this has changed? and
    - is there another way to quickly view these usages, or are we stuck with this?
    Regards, Paul.

    Hello
Go to the repository object navigator. Go to the table definitions --> usages --> Used in sql query sets

  • Forms popup help - module implementation name must equal module short name.

I don't know if this was blatanly obvious, or if it has been already stated, but just in case it wasn't, I'll state it here.
Here is something that I noticed while trying to make the help system work. I found that the module's short name is stored in the CG_FORM_HELP (or any alternative name that one may use) table. However, when the form is generated, the key-help trigger sends the module's implementation name (only on property palette) to the procedure which calls the help form. I had modules with short names differing from the implementation name, and was forced to change the implementation name to match the short name in order to make the help system work correctly.
If anyone has problems with the user/help text from their modules, module components, and items not displaying (and maybe just the user/help text from the base tables showing up), then you may want to look into this.

I forgot to state that I was using Designer 6.0 Patchset 4 (6.0.3.8).

  • Oracle Designer 6.0 rel. 2.1.2  hazy installation

I'm trying to install an oracle designer 6.0 rel 2.1.2.
I have installed oracle server 8.1.7 on WIN NT workstation
machine hp p700 128mb. The 8.1.7 server is installed without
java server because PARAMETER COMPATIBLE = 8.0.5, compatibility
with 8.0.5 oracle server, needed for designer 6.0 to work ( as
    per docs ).
I install repository on server then start repository manager on
client and go create repository. The repository procedure starts
working then stops at this stage:
    CKRAU20.EXE
    STAGE DETAILS
    CKPACK
    OBJECT DETAILS
    CIOUE_ELEMENT_TYPE
    SUBMITTING DEFINITION/STATEMENT
    CIUEET.OPB
There's no other way out than killing the process. The problem
is exactly the ciueet.opb sql package; executed standalone
against sqlplus, stops everything the same.
As anybody ever hear about something similar or can guess the
    cause/workaround?
    thank you, daffy duck

Designer versions prior to version 6.5.40 (aka Designer 6i
Release 2) will strike this problem when attempting to import or
install a repository on Oracle database version 8.1.7.
Patchset 7 for Designer 6.0 has a workaround included so that
Designer 6.0 can now avoid this problem.

    Hi,

When opening Forms designer it gives me an error with the file C:\oracle\ora91DEV\forms90\formNLw.res
    Any suggestions.

    Hi:
This is a known bug. One workaround is to copy the formUSw.res to formNLw.res! This will solve your problem! This bug will be patched in the next patchset!

  • RAC database patchset 10.2.0.5 on windows

    HI,
I have 2 RAC environment having 13 Production database with version 10.2.0.4 of database, clusterware and ASM on Windows server 2008 64 bit.
Now I need to apply patchset 10.2.0.5 on ONLY one database due to BUG. Instead of apply patchset on all RAC database and upgrade planning for only one affected database. I need to below clarification -
    1. I am planning to apply patchset 10.2.0.5 on clusterware and ASM only.
    2. Planning to install 10.2.0.5 on new oracle home.
    3. Planning to upgrade one affected database from 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5.
    QUESTION HERE -
    1. Will above plan work for one database only.
    2. Will clusterware and ASM (10.2.0.5)will support both ORACLE_HOME (10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5) databases
    3. How we can setup clusterware for this new ORACLE_HOME (10.2.0.5) DATABASEs.
Anyone have any plan or suggestion please share.

    Hi,
Yes it is possible to have multiple ORACLE_HOMES inside a Oracle GRID infrastructure. To check the supported and compatibility My Oracle Support for this.
    1. check compatibility of the components and make the design for your listener
    2. Upgrade ASM en clusterware. to 10.2.0.5
    3. Install new oracle software tree 10.2.0.5
    4. upgrade one database to 10.2.0.5
keep in mind the Oracle Cluster Registry for this database has to change

  • Apply the 10.2.0.5 patchset to database with 10.2.0.1 OWB Repository

We are planning to apply the 10.2.0.5 patchset to our 10.2.0.4 Data Warehouse database (10.2.0.4 ORACLE_HOME) that contains the 10.2.0.1 OWB Design and Runtime Repository (owbowner and owbrt_sys) schemas. The 10.2.0.1 OWB_HOME is a separte installation from the 10.2.0.4 RDBMS software.
We do need to upgrade the 10.2.0.1 OWB software, but did not want to do that at this time. If anyone has performed this task, would you please let us know if you ran into any issues/problems with the 10.2.0.1 OWB Repository after applying the 10.2.0.5 patchset to the database.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
There should not be any issue with OWB 10.2.0.1 and Oracle 10.2.0.5
We had this combination some time back and it worked without any issue.

  • Designer 10.1.2.5.0 can not be standalone?

I applied Designer 10.1.2.5 patchset on top of standalone Des 10.1.2.4, no Developer Suite (I also tried a fresh installation of Des 10.1.2.5), when I started Oracle Designer, RAU, or RON I got this error:
"This application has failed to start because frmd2f.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"
I copied the file from another Developer Suite installation, I got a new error, every time I copied the files indicated by the error message, I always got the same error with a different file name needed. The last error message related with psoasyn (?) and orapls10.dll (I forget the exact error message). Fyi, I am using Oracle DB Client 10.2.0.4.
Do we have to install complete Oracle Developer Suite to install Oracle Designer 10.1.2.5? Now, I re-installed Oracle Designer 10.1.2.4, and it works well (no error appears).
    Thanks.

You need to install Repository in Oracle 10g and create the Repository in RAU before you can start using Designer.
Follow the following steps to have Designer properly installed. Enjoy it.
    Preparation:
    1.     Increase Virtual Memory of your PC
    •     Right-click on My Computer, Properties
    •     Click on “Advanced” tab; Click on Performance’s [Settings]
    •     Click on “Advanced” tab; Click on Virtual Memory’s [Change]
    •     Change Maximum Size to 1535MB (Default was 768MB): Note you must have swap space of 1535MB
    •     Click on [Set], [OK], [OK], [OK]
    2.     Stop all anti-virus programs
    3.     Unzip ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip files to C:\Disk1 and ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip to C:\Disk2
    4.     Assume that you have installed Oracle 10g Release 2 before installing Developer Suite 10g R2.
    5.     If you are using Chinese Windows XP or 2003 Server, please set both Regional Settings and Input Locale to English prior installation of Developer Suite 10g R2.
Part 1: Steps to install Developer Suite
    1.     Double-click on C:\Disk1\setup.exe
    2.     Click on [Next]
Enter Name: Ora10gDSR2 (default was DevSuiteHome1)
Enter Path: C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDSR2 (default was C:\DevSuiteHome_1)
    Click on [Next]
    3.     Select the radio button for “Complete (1.11GB)”
    •     Click on [Next]
    Provide Outgoing Mail Server Information:

    •     Neglect Errors as the script will drop existing objects and re-create them. If existing objects cannot be dropped, then errors may appear but these will not affect the schema definition for Oracle Developer Suite 10g.
Copy the contents of the following SQL script and save to a text file called “des10g_for_ora10gR2.sql”
Run SQL Plus, login as SYS and start command “@C:\des10g_for_ora10gR2.sql”.
You may inspect the spooled file for any error logs in c:\designer10gins_local.txt
You may delete this file after installation.

symptom: CDD-23564: The file cfg61.dll could not be loaded or does not exists
change: Installed Oracle Designer Release 4.1 over some previous version of Designer and Developer

  • Error: Oracle Forms Designer has stopped working

I have read a lot of different responses regarding this and related issues but none of the answers seem to be relative to my specific problem. Here is what I have done so far:
    a. I just finished loading Oracle 11g 64x enterprise on my laptop running windows 7. It loaded correctly and I was able to import my 10g data dump and set up my schema.
    b. I then installed the Oracle development suite: ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1 and disk2. There were some minor issues regarding compatibility but following the advise of one post, I checked the blocks in question and the software loaded fine.
    c. I also attempted to install the p5969392_10123_WINNT.zip file but it gave a message indicating that no updates applied. (I am not sure if this is the correct patch or not?)
    d. I also had to download and install the Sun SDK, v6.18.
    e. I also updated the ORACLE paths in the default.env and registry entries and tried different urls in the runtime preference block. Nothing helped and I stayed with the default.
Oracle Forms seems to startup correctly and I am able to connect to the database with no problem. Although I did not build a new form completely, it appears that this would be no problem.
    The problem:
The problem is that when I attempt to open a form that was previously developed in 10g on XP, I immediately get the "Oracle Forms Designer has stopped working" error and Forms Builder shuts down. I get the same error whether I attempt to open a library, menu, or form.
I have tried changing the compatibility mode from XP, service pack 3 (the default after install) to XP, service pack 2 but it made no difference.
If anyone has been able to work through this issue, please let me know how. Thanks

  • Are Security Vulnerabilities fixed by applying Oracle Server Patchsets

    Hi,
I would like to know whether by applying Oracle Server Patchsets or by upgrading the Oracle Server from one version to another do we overcome the Security Vulnerabilities highlighted in the previous patchset or Oracle Server Version.
For example if I have an Oracle Server 9.2.0.1 and I apply server patchest 9.2.0.8 do I overcome all the security vulnerabilities highlighted for version 9.2.0.1 and all other intervening versions. Similarly, if I upgrade my Oracle Server 9.2.0.6 to say Oracle Server 10g 10.2.0.3 do I overcome all security vulnerabilites highlighted fro 9.2.0.6 and all other intervening releases.
    Best Regards
    Syed Zaib ul Qamar

Is there a link; or where can I go to find the types of and/or categories for the security vulnerabilities associated with (past and present) versions of Oracle? I work with a very large team of developers and some are DBAs that perform mainly custom coding in C++ and a little in Ada. I would like to ensure that our team is continually aware of the both past and current Oracle vulnerabilities when developing applications/scripts (designing, coding, reviewing, building, etc.), testing (including security) , quality assurance, packaging, and etc.
Perhaps, this is a lot to ask; but, this at least a good palce to start.

The kicker is that many of my coworkers have claimed to have downloaded the same installs as I and they ARE able to connect to this same repository.
I've done my own digging and found no solution. What I have found is that, when attempting to login, I receive an ethernet message from the Oracle server containing the text "Oracle Repository (TM) : Releae 4.0.12.93.10 - Production", which I take to be another "version number" for the repository I'm trying to connect to. How does this number compare with the Oracle 9.0.4.5.6 Designer version on my client? Why aren't they compatible?
It's times like this that I wish I could go to some log or something and get ALL the information I need about what the application is trying to do. A nicer documentation site would be nice as well as the eonly thing we get now is a list of the Oracle error codes and the corresponding message text, the error message box told me the same thing!
    Thanks in advance,
    Geoff
