Designer 6i in Oracle 9i

Hi,
I have MS Windows XP,Oracle 9.2.0.0.0 and Oracle Designer 6i(6.5.52.2.0 - Config 4.0.12) on my laptop.
I can't install repository - during "Instaling view to Support Core Repository" Repository adm. utility just crashes with some MS error - Error signature ckrau61.exe ..... ntdll.dll.....and we are sorry for....bla bla
When I ran it against Oracle 8.1.7 on the server it installed the repository without any problems.
I tryed to set compability parameter for Oracle 9 to 8.1.7, but than I am not able to open the database.
Can we use Designer 6i with Oracle 9?
All ideas are welcome.

Unfortunately the Oracle9i database is not yet supported on
available versions of Designer 6i.

Oracle Designer 10g With Oracle 11g DB possible

Hi,
Please clarify my below query,
we are currently using oracle designer 10g and deploying the components to production DB which is in oracle 9i, We are planning to migrate to oracle supported version 11g DB, since oracle designer 11g is not there we would be sticking to oracle 10g itself, Now my question is, will we be having issues or road blocks with this combination Oracle designer 10g and Oracle 11g DB???

Don't have a doc id. You have to go to the certication tab in My Oracle Support. Search for Oracle Designer 10.1.2.6.0 there you will find the three supported database version.
Oracle Designer 10.1.2.6.0 is certified with Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0 on Microsoft Windows (32-bit) XP
Oracle Designer 10.1.2.6.0 with Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0

Colleagues of mine have imported a designer repository inside 11gR2 and where not able to change objects inside the repository. When they imported the same designer dump inside an 11gR1 database it worked fine.
In the other post (Re: 11G compatibility it is also written that there are some major bugs and those bugs will not be fixed.

Designer 6i on Oracle 8.0.6 Server

Hi,
Did anybody used Designer 6i on Oracle 8.0.6 database Server?? I tried using it but I am getting the following error:
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 2248 encountered
ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
I tried playing around with the storage space, but in vain.
Could somebody help me in this??

Unfortunately, Designer 6i is not supported or certified on
Oracle 8.0.6.

Installing Designer 6i onto Oracle 9.2.0.1.0

I am trying to install Designer 6i on Oracle 9.2.0.1.0. The trouble is I receive an error telling something like (i'm translating from spanis into english) 'a key value for getvalue is not found' and it offers me to retry, continue or abandon.
If i choose continuing, the installer says:
'You can't not install to the same home as Oracle Designer, please enter a new Oracle home name and path.'
But i have no designer product installed yet.
Can you help me, please?

Unfortunately, Designer 6i is not currently supported on
the 9.2 version of the database. Only 9i Designer is
supported.
The latest available version of 6i, Release 4.5, is supported on 9.0.1.3 though.
Therefore, I'm unable to really help, as we have not completely tested a 6i/9.2 configuration.
All the latest certification information is as ever
available from Metalink (http://metalink.oracle.com).

Is it posible to use Designer 9 with Oracle XE?
I installed both products, but I coudn't connect with Designer to DB server.

Yes it is possible to use Designer 9 with Oracle express edition.
After the database is installed the repository has to be installed, only then can you connect to the repository using Designer.

A few months ago, I installed Designer 6i r4.3 on my standalone Home Pc.
Installing Designer 6i r4.3 on you PC, with a local database, you need to do the following. I think it isn't difficult, but yu have to read the installation guides of these product carefully before installing!
Installing consist of the following main steps
1. Install a certified database server, i.e. 8.1.7 or 9i. (And NOT personal 8i! You can download a copy from OTN).
2. Install the Designer client in a DIFFERENT Oracle Home than the server
3. Install the Designer Server on the Database server
4. Install Developer
Do you have a PC with enough power? I need enough diskspace and memory (at least 256 MB, but 512 is much better!)

I tried it and I could not log on as user SYS .
Are there any configurations I need to do. What is the order of installation.

or
Forms 6i - Designer 6i - Oracle 9i database
or

I want to be sure that my installation was not faulty

Hi,
I'm currently using Oracle 9i DB and Dev/Des 6i. In my case I installed the 9i DB first since in order for me to succesfully create a repository I need a working DB first.

Design Capture of Oracle Forms

I can successfully capture an Oracle Form built by Forms Builder into a Module in Designer 9i. When I generate the Form based on the reversed Module Data Diagram, the generated Form does not have the same user-interface at run-time. For example, the tool-bar for records navigation does not appear.
Can any one tell me whether it is possible to capture application logic as well as exact layout from a Form?
Is it possble to capture Oracle menus?
Any help is appreciated.

I was asking more in terms of a general 'import' feature that used to be available earlier (rather than BPA to BPM in particular - which is also probably enabled by XPDL)

Designer 6i / Database Oracle 10G / Metadata on Oracle 9. Is that possible?

Please give me a suggestion here! We have the Developer tools 6i and will want to bring a new Oracle 10G database into Designer 6i and the metadata to be stored in 9i database. Please let me know if this is possible or should we go for higher versions of Designer.

I assume you want to install Des6i in a 9i database: that's possible.
Then you want to capture the database(definitions) from a 10g database into that Des6i version: also that's possible.
But I think it is not a supported combination...

JSF Designs not usign Oracles BLAF

Hi All,
I have been searching high and low for some answers on how to create complex layouts that do NOT necessarily fit into the Oracle BLAF.
If I could give an example say http://www.yahoo.com
Lets say that I wanted to create a page that had the same layout as this site ignoring the content I only want the boxes that the content would fit into.
I have tried several times to do this with the various panel components and get close but there is always something that does not quite work.
If have tried using the panelBorder wich from what I can see renders a ton of tables which would be fine but most of the time the tables ignore the styles that I have specified in the styleClass attribute.
I have tried using panelGroup, panelHorizontal, panelPage.......
I guess what I am asking for is some help on page design. I have looked at all the oracle design guides\tutorials and none of them really cover anything outside the BLAF. Can anyone give a decent explanation of which controls one would use to create the Yahoo layout? I can do this in .NET HTML\CSS in about 10 minutes and I cannot beleive that it is impossible to do in the Java world. Please help I am loosing faith.

... also keep in mind that HTML/CSS is a different technique than JSF, which similar to Swing uses layout containers. The benefit you gain through component based development of course has its flip side in that layout manipulation is a bit more complex than applying CSS to HTML fragments.

Installing Designer 6i on Oracle 9i in W2K

I am trying to install Designer 6i into 9i Database. I received
an error when RAU procced to CKGLBWRK.SQL. The error message is
the following:
ORA-04068: existing state of packages has been discarded
ORA-04063: package body "REPO_OWNER.JR_ACC_RIGHTS" has errors
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called
ORA-06512: at line 108
I have tried to follow Mr. Sosnicki's insturction to correct the
reserved words errors already.
I am sorry that I have to use 9i and Designer 6ibecause we are
setting up new servers and we don't want to invest too many time
on 8i.

How does Designer support the creation of Materialized Views, Bitmap Join indexes and Index Organized tables ? Which version of Designer does this ?

I do not fully understand your question, but I'll give a start answer.
Bitmapped indexes can be defined by setting the index type to bitmap. SImply create an index and set the indextype to bitmap.
Index Organized Tables can be created by creating a relational table and set the index-organized option under storage in the property palette to Yes. Designer has a special folder for the materialized view.
IOT's and bitmapped indexes where already supported in Designer 6.0. Materialized views are supported in Designer 6i. I know for sure in designer 6i release 4.2 (designer 9i).

Design problem in Oracle Reports 10g

Hi,
I have a problem desinging reports, and the biggest problem is that i remember in the past i knew how to solve this problem.
The problem is the following.
imagine you put a big TextField, where you put just a few words, it's algned to the top, and if you resize the TextField, the thext always moves to the top of the field, and what i want is that when i resize the field, the text move to the bottom of the field.
can someone tell me where are the properties to do that.

I think in reports the alignment of the text in the field is always top.
