Designer 6i - Reusable Module Components - Action Items

Hi,
I have a block that I would like to set up as a reusable module component. The block includes a set of action items (not form navigation). However when I make the block re-usable the action items are NOT created in the new RMC. It appears that action items cannot be included in a re-usable component. I can get around the problem by turning the action items into unbound buttons. But could somebody explain why Actions items cannot be an RMC or form part of an RMC?

In designer6i we cant do this.
In designer 9i, it is taken up as an enhacement request and work is going on, maybe indesigner 9i we would be able to have more than one module component on the same web page.
Hope this solves your query

  • Action Item causes Design Editor to crash

    Dear All,
I faced a problem that I couldn't find a solution for neither here, nor at Metalink.
Then after several trial and error, tedious efforts, I found the solution for it, and thought I'd share this knowledge with everyone.
When adding an action item to a module component, if the "Relative Tab Stop Editor" is set to Parent, the Design Editor will crash while trying to generate the form, without any error message, it will just close.
You have to set the "Relative Tab Stop Editor" for the module (sub module) component to None or Self.
I hope that this would help someone, and if anyone finds that I was mistaken in my findings, please let me know.
p.s. I was using Design Editor ver. 9.0.4.5.6 which I believe is the latest with no additional patches required.

If you have changed a number of objects in diagrams, you need to click on Edit, Requery All, so that any changes will be committed and retrieve the latest objects from the central repository. If you do not requery, it sometimes exit Designer during run-time.

  • How to add a new column (Project Number) in the action items table under NPD Module?

There are two projects with same name and created by same person in NPD.
So when it is displayed in "Action Items" table, It looks similar.
To avoid this, I need one more column (Project Number) to be added in the "Action Items" table and " Strategic briefs and projects" table.
So, How to add a new column (Project Number) in the "Action Items" table and " Strategic briefs and projects" table under NPD Module?
    Please do the needful.

There is no out of the box configuration available to add columns to NPD action items.   As always we welcome enhancement requests.
    Thanks

  • REFERENCE VALUES BETWEEN REPORTS MODULES COMPONENTS IN DESIGNER6I

    Good afternoon;
I am building a report in Designer 6i which inludes 4 different
    module components.
    My question is..
How can you verify (and pass) a field's actual value between
    module components?
    Thank you,
    Michel Turcot

The way to pass information from a PJC back into Forms is via the WHEN-CUSTOM-ITEM-EVENT trigger. Then you can pass the info around in Forms in the usual way. Look at some of the examples in the Forms area on OTN.

  • Layout of action items

    Hi,
I try to create module with Forms Generator is Designer 6.0 with patchset3 and can't control the layout of action item in module component.
Can I change the layout (X,Y position) of action item of module component?
    Thanks!

You can create a custom unbound item instead of an action item. Then you can control the layout of this item.
Even simpler, you can always code a pre-form trigger which sets the x and y coordinates at runtime.

  • New stacked canvas and action items

I have a form with tree module components into the same window: one new content canvas and two new stacked canvas.
The window has an action item. When I execute this form the action item is'nt visible because is placed under the stacked canvas. Is possible display the action item at the bottom of the window?

    hi
try to adjust the View port width & height of stacked canvas properties back and forth.
ram Not sure this addresses my problem. The stacked canvas properties are fine. However, I want to be able to execute a SHOW_VIEW on my stacked canvas after a FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE has been raised. Obviously, I could place a button that did SHOW_VIEW when pressed but thats far from ideal. I want to be able to do it automatically without any need for the user to do anything.

    Peter.

  • Copying Reusable Module Component by using extended copy

I created a new Application System (say B) in the RON and copied a Reusable Module Component from Application System A into B, by using extended copy.
THE PROBLEM: the copied component is still referencing to the table in application system A instead of B. I would like that the table is referencing to the table in application system B.
Other module components I copied (non reusable) are referencing to tables in
    application system B.
    What's going wrong?

(You posted a new question as a answer to my question! )
The default username/password, which is created by using the repository install script, is REPOS_MANAGER/MANAGER. With this username/password you can access the Repository Admin Utility and create new Designer/Repository users. These users must be existing database users.
Warning: 8i personal Edition is not certified against Designer, that means there may appear problems. (e.g. generating Forms doesn't work). You better can install 8.1.7 Or 9i enterprise edition.

  • Get user manager in workflow SharePoint Designer 2013 for SharePoint online list item

    Hello,
I would like to create a workflow in SharePoint Designer 2013 for a list in a site on SharePoint online and one of the action would be to send an e-mail to the manager of the user that created an item in a list.
How can I get the manager of the user and then use it to send an e-mail?
    Thanks!

In SP Designer there's the following action that I use.
Find Manager for this user (then output to variable:manager) Action
This is for SPD 2010 not sure if it's still available in SPD 2013

  • URGENT: Cutomize Email functionality for Action Items

    Experts,
I need to your help for a customization I need to help setup immediately.
Here is the requirement : Client does not currently have an E-mail notification functionality turned on for Action Items. The requirement is to have E-mails sent out when ever an Action Item is Assigned to a User. The email should be sent to both the user who has been AssignedTo and the person who actually assigned.
I believe this need customization to Criteria Workflow email and/or cutomization to the out of the mail templates - reviewr_mail.htm and reject_mail.htm .
I am not sure which workflow is tied to Action Items.
Any expert advise on this would tremendously help .
    Thanks in advance.
    Rakesh

Old Old (6 years) data that only partly covers this, and on a current server may need some tweaking but this may help.
The following are required and assumed for custom workflow email functionality:
Stellent Content Server 7.x or higher
    A working knowledge of CS
A working knowledge of CS workflow step event architecture
A working knowledge of Idoc Script.
    Business Problem
You wish to customize the email message, subject, template, or all of the above, sent out by CS Criteria workflow.
    Idoc Script Explanation
There are several new or newly exposed Idoc Script variables and functions, as well as old stand-bys, that make customizing 7.x Criteria Workflow emails quick and easy. All the functions and variables described herein may be found in the Idoc Script reference guide.
Emails will be triggered by criteria workflow:
    Upon Step Entry
    Upon Reject
Upon execution of the <wfNotify()> Idoc Script function
    Customizing Email Templates
There are two primary workflow email templates that are used to generate the email messages sent out to recipients. These are: reviewer_mail.htm and reject_mail.htm both of which are located in the default templates directory at:
    < Stellent Home Dir >/shared/config/templates
These templates may be modified like any other template according to established component architecture best practices. The templates are Idoc Script enabled and, as such, may evaluate dynamic code and draw dynamic results when the server is creating the mail message. Of course, after the message instance is created from the template and sent off to the mail server, no additional scripting may be done. Email message template modification provides the greatest flexibility and opportunity for truly customized and dynamic workflow emails.
It should be noted that not only may the email templates be modified for universal email changes, but also you may create custom workflow email templates based on the standard templates. Custom templates may be called as desired by adding them as the optional third parameter to <wfNotify()>.
    Example:
    <wfNotify(userName,"user",templateName)>
    or
    <wfNotify(aliasName,"alias",templateName)>
If no template is specified, SCS will use the system default template.
Although email template modification is relatively straightforward, such modification requires careful component development. Consequently, some clients prefer to modify the most important portions of the criteria workflow email: the subject and the message.
    Customizing the Email Subject Line
Criteria workflow email subject lines may be modified in several ways. The core string resource may be modified according to standard component architecture. Additionally, the wfMailSubject IdocScript variable may be declared in criteria workflow step event scripting to give greater control and flexibility for narrowly targeted customization.
The default criteria workflow email subject lines are defined in the ww_strings.htm file located at:
    < Stellent Home Dir >/shared/config/resourced/lang
    The string definitions are:
<@wwWfIsNotifyOnly=Workflow notification for content item '{1}' is in step '{2}'.@> {1} = content item title. {2} = name of step in workflow.
<@wwWfReadyForStep=Content item '{1}' is ready for workflow step '{2}'.@> {1} = content item title. {2} = name of step in workflow.
    <@wwWfRejected=Content item '{1}' has been rejected.@> {1} = name of content item.
These may be aliased (superceded) in a component resource file. They are typically called with the localization Idoc Script function <$lc()$>. See the <@dynamichtml wf_approve_mail_subject@> include definition in std_page.htm for an example of how email subject line string includes may be implemented.
For simple criteria workflow subject line changes Idoc Script, rather than full-blown components, may be used. The Idoc Script variable <$wfMailSubject="my subject"$> can be placed in step event script. The value of <$wfMailSubject$> can also accept Idoc Script. For example:
<$wfMailSubject="My Custom Subject Line for the content with title <$dDocTitle$>"$>
Note that no eval() function is required for the Idoc Script variable to evaluate when included in the wfMailSubject variable.
If wfMailSubject is place in the entry event of a workflow step, then any email messages triggered by content entering the step will receive the customized subject line. Additionally, wfMailSubject may be declared just prior to a wfNotify() function and the email(s) generated by that function call will receive the custom subject line.
    Customizing the Email Message Line
The email message line is not the same thing as the email body. Rather each SCS criteria workflow generated email contains several lines of standard data:
    Message: message line
    Workflow Name: workflow name line
Workflow Step: workflow step name line
    Content Item:     content id line
The message line will default to one of two messages depending on whether or not the workflow step is a "notification only" (i.e. 0 required reviewers) step or not. The relevant localized strings are:
Notification only: <@wwWfIsNotifyOnly=Workflow notification for content item '{1}' is in step '{2}'.@> {1} = content item title. {2} = name of step in workflow.
Review Required: <@wwWfReadyForStep=Content item '{1}' is ready for workflow step '{2}'.@> {1} = content item title. {2} = name of step in workflow.
See the <@dynamichtml wf_approve_mail_message@> include definition in std_page.htm for an example of how email message line string includes may be implemented.
For simple criteria workflow message line changes Idoc Script may be leveraged in step event scripts. The Idoc Script variable <$wfMessage="my message"$> may be placed in step events to give the workflow emails custom message lines. Like wfMailSubject, the value of wfMessage can accept tagged Idoc Script variables without requiring an eval() wrapper. If wfMessage is declared in the entry event of a workflow step, workflow generated email messages for that step will use the value assigned to wfMessage. Additionally, wfMessage may be declared prior to a wfNotify() function and the email(s) generated by that function call will receive the custom message line.
These are not the only ways to customize criteria workflow email attributes. However, the SCS 7.x Idoc Script API provides these methods, functions, and variables to make customizing workflow emails simple.
    Requirements, Pre-Requisites, and Assumptions
The following are required and assumed for custom workflow email functionality:
Stellent Content Server 7.x or higher
    A working knowledge of CS
A working knowledge of CS workflow step event architecture
A working knowledge of Idoc Script.

  • Create reusable jsf components as jsf components

    Hi
I'm new to JSF (and J2EE in general, I used to use WebObjects a decade ago). I'm using JSF 1.2
so, I'd like to know if it is possible to create reusable jsf components designing some jsp page ?
I'm particularly interressed in reusable components that, when used, are not leafs in the html trees (but so support that the reusing page provide some piece of html to be put "inside")
Is there any way to do that ? (WebObjects, a decade or so ago, allowed to do that...)
    Thanks for your help
    cd

Use Facelets instead of JSP. Then you can make use of ui:composition for this.
By the way, J2EE is dead, it's called Java EE now. This keyword must give you more r|decent Google results.

  • Position of module components on the canvas

    Hello,
I am creating forms with designer.
If I have 2 module components, I want to have the two module components one beside the other on the canevas, I do not know how to it... is there some preferences to set ? actually the 2 module componets are one on the top of the other ans there is enough space to the two module on the same line ...
    Thanks.

I tried it in my version (6.5) and you can try this too in 6.0
Put the 1st block on a new content canvas and set the width to e.g. 30.
Put the 2nd block on a new stacked canvas and set the x position to 30.
You will programatically have to raise the stacked canvas (e.g. in the when-new-forms-instance), otherwise it is not visible until you go the 2nd block. Something like:
    set_view_property('CG$POPUP_1', VISIBLE, PROPERTY_ON);

  • Unbound and Action Items

I have many forms modules defined in the repository with unbound items and action items. How can i implement this functionality in jdeveloper with jheadstart.

    Jorge,
Alternatively, you can base the "transient" attribute on a SQL expression or SQL function.
High level steps to implement an action item that calls a stored produce include:
    - Add the button to the generated page
    - Add a forward to the group router that picvks up the name of the button and forwards to a custom action
    - Write a custom Struts action that calls a custom method on your handler
    - This custom method can use the BC4J app module to obtain a DBTransaction, and then create and execute a CallableStatement that calls your stored procedure.
