Designer 8 redraw time so long

This actually pertains to version 8 of Designer but since there is no forum for that release, I have to post it here.
Version 7 was quick to display pages or when copying, cutting and pasting.
Version 8 has this "cool" effect where pages slowly fade in and out. My system is normally fast but this effect combined with large forms slows it down to a crawl.
When I go to other pages, the old page has to fade out, then the new page fades in. The same with cutting and pasting. The cut object slowly fades out and gradually fades in at the new location.
This is going to take me forever to finish my current project. And I can't see where to turn off this effect. (I am assuming this is a feature of Designer 8 and not Windows since Designer 7 worked fine and I have not turned on any Windows features since upgrading. I had all of Windows special display effects turned off long ago.)
I had to upgrade to version 8 to get the new Save in Adobe Reader feature that was previously only in Reader Extension. My client needs this ability.

Sorry to see no replies to this yet. I recently purchased the current version of Designer (didn't have the older version) and find the fading affect annoyingly slow. I was looking for a way to turn it off too. Hopefully someone will have an answer.

    Thank you Jeff. Great questions.
    I was opening Illustrator in CS4 design standard. Odd too, because the error comes up with it showing missing plugins from Photoshop. I opened Photoshop first, then Illustrator to see if it changed anything. Yes, One of the two error messages for a plugin was gone.
    To remove apps I went to the Adobe website to redownload my standard CS4 and chose "uninstall".. So I did. Restarts x 2 . Then Reopening illustrator...same thing again. Restarted, then went to Disky Utlity and cleaned up something off of it as per a internet suggestion...Sorry, it's been a long day alreay. Not me removing anything, just allowing it to do that with repairing.
    The version of Mac OS is YOSEMITE 10.10.2 .
    I recently updated!!! oooh nooooo! (every watch Mr. Bill on SNL?) so if the updated OS is the culprit, do I have to go back to older version for my apps to work?   I never realized how very much I use Illustrator. I know there are extensions I could go through one at a time....seriously I am overwhelmed with some life events that make this computer dilema  almost too much of a challenge for me at this time..I am truly grateful for your help. Thank you Jeff.

  • Total Time No Longer Displayed In Playlists

    I am currently using iTunes 11.0.4.4 and Windows 7.
    When looking at a playlist, the total time no longer displays at the bottom of the screen.
    Could I have accidentally "hit" something to make it go away and if so, how do I get it back?
    I appreciate any assistance.

    You're welcome.

  • CLOSED: MAPVIEWER LONG PREPARATION TIME AFTER LONG IDLE TIME

    SR # 6896831.994
    Customer: NEDGRAPHICS BV
    Mapviewer Release: 9.0.4
    This issue was posted to the Field Service Forum. They responded with
    For Map, we do create the datasource and related maps, themes, styles to be used for Map. The exeuction part is done by Mapviewer and we don't have much control on the mapviewer code on performance tuning point of view.
    Please post this question in mapviewer forum
    Issue:
    After MapViewer being idle for some time (+/- 60 minutes) it takes a long time to generate the first map image --> 5 minutes.
    In the MapViewer logfile with log-level=finest, I see that there is a very long preparation time.
    After producing the first map image the next (same!) image is produced very fast.
    What could be the reason?
    What does MapViewer do during "preparation"?
    Customer statement:
    I am a very experienced Oracle specialist and a very experienced MapViewer developer.
    Could you please pass on my request to the MapViewer developers?
    I have to know what is going on during preparation time.
    Is there a possibility to get more detailed logging of the preparation time?

    UPDATE from customer
    ================
    The first time after long idle time it takes between 100 and 300 seconds.
    After that it takes less than 2 seconds.
    Can it be a dabase connection issue?
    Will it make a difference if I use a database connection via data-sources.xml
    instead of a direct data-source in mapviewerConfig.xml?
    This is what I mean :
    Method 1:
    <map_data_source name="NBG"

    jdbc_password="ELvaJ7axzKQl0aKtjikuKT7JUFTjukU3"
    jdbc_mode="thin"
    number_of_mappers="3"
    />
    Method 2:
    <map_data_source name="NBG"
    container_ds="jdbc/NBG"
    number_of_mappers="3"
    />
    data-sources.xml:
    <data-source
    class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
    name="NBG"
    location="jdbc/OracleCache"
    ejb-location="jdbc/NBG"

    RESPONSE from customer
    ====================
    The database is restarted once a day in the morning. That could explain the problems in the morning. But there are also problems during day time after some hours of idle time when the database in not restarted.
    After testing we noticed that we don't have the problem if we use database connection through OC4J (data-sources.xml).
    If we use that method every database connection is cleaned up if it is not used for 15 seconds or so.
    If we use the other method (database connection in mapviewerconfig.xml) then the database connection is open for a long time and then we have the problem with the long preparation time.
    This problem only occurs in a DMZ environment. MapViewer is installed on a DMZ server and connects through the firewall with a intranet database.
    Is it possible that the firewall software prevents communication of an open database connection after a long period of idle time?
    Thanls.

  • Designing a 'sample time feed' for Spry XML Data Set

    Hi!
    Often when I call a Spry XML Data Set I find I can't get the
    schema. If offers you the option to design a sample time feed but
    doesn't give you enough info to be able to even guess how to do
    this.
    Is the answer in modifying that php line somehow?
    Any guidance would be much appreciated!
    Mike

    The idea for Design Time XML is that you can use a static XML
    file instead of a dynamic source, in case you don't have access to
    the real data. You can use the Design Time XML to make the query
    and design the page.
    This gives you access to the data references for designing
    the page.
    If you are getting schema errors, the numbers that the dialog
    shows is the line number and character number (1,1)
    You should be able to see the XML directly in the browser. If
    you can, then DW should be able to consume it.

  • CLEARBLOCK EMPTY is taking 3 times as long as it used to

    Would anyone happen to know why my CLEARBLOCK EMPTY script that runs once a week would be clearing less blocks but taking 3 times as long as it used to?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    3. Other processes running on the server^^^Just a variation of this that I recently experienced -- other processes running on the SAN/the SAN running out of room. A virtualized hard drive is exciting, as you have no way of knowing what's really going on -- everything looks good from the Windows side of things, but in reality the performance of the hard drive is falling through the floor.
    I had a calculation that took 1.1 seconds take over four minutes. And then immediately on rerun, went right back to 1.1 seconds. That is one seriously busy hard drive and completely invisible to the server OS.

    avg.processing time : 4200 (ms)
    avg.CPU time : 300 (ms)
    avg.DB time : 200(ms)
    OS (CPU and memory ) status is nomal.
    please tell me why processing time too long and what do I check more.
    thanks

    Hi
    Processing Time is the total time taken i.e. Time when user clicks on submit button to send data to SAP System till the time SAP System processes everything and shows the updated screen back to the user. It includes Network Time also.
    Average Processing Time is the Processing Time per Dialog Step
    In ST03N workload Monitor, there are different Task Type like Dialog, Background, RFC, Update,..........
    Could you be more specific where do you find the Average Processing Time high ? I mean for which Task Type.
    If you have users complaining for Performance problem check their Network Time also.
    Let us know, if this information was helpful to you.

  • Why is the charging time on the new iPad so long? It is 3 times as long as iPad 2.

    Why is the charging time on the new iPad so long? It is 3 times as long as iPad 2.

    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
    Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
    At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery, so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night.
     Cheers, Tom

It's just a white page with all the words and pics running down the left side of the page wich makes the page four times as long as it should be. What is the problem?

  • Use of timer.wait(long miliseconds, int nanoseconds)

    I have a Timer object and I want my midlet(main thread) to sleep when I call timer.wait(long miliseconds, int nanoseconds). How to do it?
    Thanks

    Few things:
    - Timer class can execute jobs encapsulated in TimerTask either once after a delay or at given intervals. Please look at the APIs and search for any tutorial online - it is all quite straight forward.
    - call to Timer.wait() (or any Object.wait() for this matter ) will cause the current thread to wait until the time lapses, or current thread gets interrupted or another thread calls notify or notifyAll on the same object
    Now do you want current thread of execution to simply stop for some time? This is not advisable. If you want your MIDlet to be put to background (to be put to sleep) that is a different story. Please have a look at the topic of *[MIDlet lifecycle|http://developers.sun.com/mobility/learn/midp/lifecycle/]* You will find that due to specification vagueness various vendors will have different events causing a MIDlet to enter paused state.
    I think what you need is MIDlet.notifyPaused() call and in TimerTask call to MIDlet.resumeRequest().
    Good luck!
    Daniel

    My La Cie Porsche Design External Hard Drive USB 3.0 is no longer working with Time Machine.  Is Yosemite the cause?  How do I fix?

    Can you see the drive in Disk Utility? If so, try selecting it and using the Mount button in the top menu. You can also run repair disk and repair permissions.

  • Query Designer writeing formula takes very long time

    Experts,
    When i try to write a formula. The query designer is taking very long time to navigate.
    One formula is taking 20 mins to write.
    1. I have upgraded my laptop memory to 2 GB of Ram
    2. I am on 7.10 SP4 Patch 1. Had the same issue with the previous versions.
    Please suggest a resolution.
    The QD has tested my patence. I am sure no body wants to create a query for 2 days. There has to be a problem somewhere causing this.
    Thank you.

    Vinod,
    Save the query and then exit BW sessions, also restart your system.
    It might be a problem with main memory of your laptop or BW server load.
    But 20mins is too long for any kind of definition in query designer.
    Please check these things, perhaps it helps.
    Thanks,
