Designer form displays differently on different similar computer.

I created an Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0 form which contains various text fields and numeric fields. All the form's fields display correctly on my own computer (WINXP Pro) when a user inputs data to the fields. When posting the form to the web those fields continue to display correctly. However, if my wife enters data to the form on the web these same fields do not display (or print) correctly. (Her computer is a WINXP Pro as well and also has Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0 installed). The form appears to be "dropping" the bottom of some letters (the descender portion of the letters) and some numbers, though not all. To solve the problem, I redesigned the form using Arial 10 pt instead of "Myriad Pro" 10 pt but it makes no difference. To show you what I mean, I posted 2 screen shots at http://www.lepirtle.com/acrobat using test letters and numbers in some of the fields. The first screen shot is the way it appears on my computer (the way I want it to look) and the second shot is the way it appears on my wife's computer: the descender portions of the letters and some, though not all, of the numbers are "dropped".

To answer banh29's question: My wife's computer has exactly the same version as me: Acrobat 7.02 Pro. To answer Hubert's question: yes, both her computer and mine are set the same, "Font size Normal".
However, in the last couple of hours I found the solution to my problem. I set the Layout property of the "Y" dimension to "Expand to fit". This prevented the "bottoms" of the numbers and the letter descenders from disappearing.
I am still puzzled why the forms appear differently on each of our computers however. I thought that was the great thing about Acrobat in that things appeared the same on all computers.

When we execute Adobe form it shows information from our ER8 206 client but when it displays subsequent client it makes a switch to ER8 102 client. All our iViews are pointing to SAP_R3 alias. So wondering where we need to maintain client information or is there a way I can debug. I tried to use HTTP Watch but did not help.

Have a look at the JCos of the System object. Login to portal with user who has an administrator role then navigate to Content Admin --> WebDynpro --> Maintain JCo connections. Verify where the JCos pointing to 102 or 206?
Also check the system object properties, what is the value of client field for "Connector" property.

Passing parameters between form portlets on two different pages ...

Here is a brief summary of our problem.
We have one master form and a detail form which are published as portlets and placed in two different pages.
Now i want to pass parameters from master form portlet resides on one page to detail form portlet resides on another page.
Say for example, when i invoke master form (created based on demo DEPT table), enter values on fields then invoke another page
on which the second form portlet (say form based on EMP demo table) resides. Now i want to pass deptno to second form and
get displayed in deptno field of second form.
I was looking at the following posting, but how to do this when forms are published as portlets and placed on two different pages ?

Customer actually want to pass a parameter from master form to 5 detail form portlets resides on different pages.
This is bit urgent as it is the only problem stopping the customer go live.

It tells you how to populate a form portlet in a page by clicking on a link in a report portlet.
You can use the wwsto_api_session objects to store data submitted by the master and let the detail form pick it up and proceed with the query.

Detailed page to be called and displayed from 3 different tabs

That's my problem. I have a detailed form called from 3 different pages. When calling the detailed form the 3 tabs are highlighted.
Is there any way to tell Apex which tab is to be highlighted on each time.

Why don't you simply NOT list the Detail page on any of the tab properties? i.e. when the detail page is being shown, none of the tabs will appear lit up. Would that work?
Wouldn't this look akward?
Or you could create the form region on Page 0 and conditionally display the region as appropriate so you don't have to duplicate it on multiple pages.
The detail form contains two updatable regions. I don't think this is a good idea.
Any ideas what people normally do in scenarios like mine?
I don't mind replicating the page if "that's a good practice" but I would appreciate other suggestions.

ok...i'm not sure how at all...but, a couple hours have passed since i posted this and while i was hoping someone would reply i was finishing up some old work on my old, extremely slow emac. anyways, i decided to go ahead and try to install leopard again from the normal standard method. (which is just clicking the icon once the leopard install window comes up). Guess what? now it's 50% into the installation!! i don't want to count my chickens before they hatch...especially after some of the discussions i've read about leopard so far...but, i'm hopeful
who knows how...i'm clueless and it doesn't make much sense to me. but, i'll come back and let anyone who cares know how the install went.
note for anyone with similar problems:
another strange fix to the 'leopard dvd ejecting on install' is to let the dvd chill in the drive for a couple hours...then try it again. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! worked for me

Other options not covered in the article:
1) You can plug both in under the same computer username and same iTunes Apple ID and give each device it's own name. You should be able to manage them as separate devices with different media, apps and screen layouts. All of your media would be in a common pool, though.
2) Under one computer username, you can login and logout of two different iTunes Apple IDs. This option is cleaner with two computer usernames but it can be done with one.

To examine the conversion settings in Acrobat, do the following:
1. Select Edit > Preferences
2. In the preferences dialog, select the "Convert From PDF" category.
3. In the "Converting From PDF" list, select "Excel workbook".
4. Click the "Edit Settings" button to view your conversion settings.

Displaying data in different tabs

Hi all
In a webI report I want to display data in different tabs for different prompt values.
For ex: In the prompt window if enter one value for plant say ABC... data should display in a single tab
If I enter two values say ABC, DEF... data should display for two plants in two different tabs. one tab for ABC and another tab DEF.
Any inputs please and is this possible in webI?

Hi there. No, it isn't.
The underlying query is shared among all tabs (which are, annoyingly, technically called 'reports').
Since any prompts are defined in the query, they too are shared among all tabs.
Input controls, 'standard report filters', and 'simple report filters' are specific to individual tabs, and cannot affect other tabs, but won't 'pop up'.
You may want to look into hyperlinking between reports (read up on OpenDocument if you're not familiar with it) to allow users to move from one Webi report (technically called a 'document') to another.
This will allow you to have different prompts for different reports.

Can you please guide me through the procedure/process of "how to translate Adobe forms in to a different languages".

There are two methods to translate any Adobe form.
First method :
login to the target language
Go to SFP --> enter the form name
Click on Change
Click on Goto -> translation
Original language will be autopopulated. Enter the target language in which you want the texts to be translated into., eg FR (French) and enter
You will see the tree for translation objects. Expand the package name and then PDFB. Under PDFB you will find your form name --> Double Click.
A translation editor will open up.
Navigate to Object Menu --> Copy Source text.
The entire XML for the form will be copied in the target language window with all static text literals highlighted in blue.
Replace the english text (blue text) with the French text ( target language text) and save.
Thats all. The form will be now translated, run the application and provide the target language in the URLis the target language.. sap-language=FR
Also there is Second method.:
1)You have to create the form in target language and attach in webdynpro layout as your original language
2)In the context of the view define two new attributes (VISIBILE and VISIBILE_FR ) with type as "WDUI_VISIBILITY"
3 )Now in webdynpro layout attach this form same as your English form and bind the visible property of interactive forms( both EN and FR form) with the VISIBILE and VISIBILE_FR attributes respectively.
4) Now through any initial method you can set the value of VISIBILE =u2019 02 u2018and VISIBILE_FR =u2019 01u2019 for English form to visible and vice versa for Fr form
Choose the convenient option .
