Designing Ipad Apps

Morning All,
Question for members here. I have a question for those who might be using Adobe software to design apps for mobile devices. Which software applications would you use ??
We publish digital based magazines and want to use Adobe software to actually build an iPad app for our magazine. Any suggestions from members here.
Thanks.
Ned

  • Design help for an ipad app

Am a newbie ipad app developer. Chose the ipad due to the larger screen size. All I need is a few tabs. When user clicks on one of the tabs shows several UIPickerViews, some sets of check boxes (maybe organized into a UITableView), perhaps a boolean switch. None of these views to be displayed are known in advance so figure I will need to create them all programmatically (no interface builder). It appears to me that on the Ipad I could use the Split View-based application. In one area of the screen would be the tabs which shows all the time. On the other area of the screen whatever the tab needs to dsiplay. What I am struggling with is how to organize a mixture of elements when user selects the tab to show a bunch of picker views, some check boxes etc. An arbitrary number of drop down menus, checkboxes etc are so easy to setup in HTML and Javascript that I am surprised they made it so hard to accomplish on a native iPad app. As I understand there can be only one controller for each screen, yet most of the examples on the net talk about a Picker or a Table view but never talk about how many them could share the same on a scrollable window. Any help will be appreciated.

Have you seen the direct email I sent to the address registered with your forum profile? I notice though the problem has changed. You originally posted the problem as simply the wrong layout being presented. Now it seems to be that the content is not being displayed.

  • Backing up iPad app audio files manually

I am using a specific iPad app for work (Assess) that was designed to not sync or backup audio files that I create within the app.  The thing is, for multiple reasons, including the fact that my iPad Air has 10 GB of Other data and is in need of a fresh restore) I need to back up those files.  I've contacted the developer and they say they can't help and they designed it that way on purpose.  There have to be some third party apps out there that would let me see the files on my iPad and copy them, yes?  Suggestions?

No suggestions and the Developer has the ability and right to maintain there files solely inside their application.
If it is intentionally built that way, there is likely no good method of bypassing their security.
All IOS apps only have access to their own storage and do not have the ability to reach into another apps space, This is part of what make the IOS so secure against malware.

  • HT1222 ipad apps 1 I lost all after I installed new windows and I tried to connect it between your computer and iPad, what's the solution? (Please Inbox : Bambangtjio@yahoo.o.id) Thanks

ipad apps 1 I lost all after I installed new windows and I tried to connect it between your computer and iPad, what's the solution? (Please Inbox : [email protected]) Thanks

    Hi,
Sounds like it isn't to serious. the Bluetooth connection had an error and that is that generated
    the Problem report.
When the Blackberry started to use Bluetooth the "gold standard" was using Microsoft's
"native" windows drivers. Now, every major PC company has there own version
    Thus the problem report.
There is  rather involved and lengthy procedure to check and install the correct Bluetooth drivers
in the Dell, but I really don't think you want to take that on.( Nod you head and say H*LL YES)
    Here is what I propose;
The problem report needs to be resolved or it wont go away. Read the manual, call Dell,
try apologizing to it and that you'll never never do it again, what ever it takes!
Make the best investment you can make for your Blackberry, buy a media card.
All the memory in the BB is dynamic, this facilitates the functions of the phone.
By storing media in that memory, you effect are wasting X amount for file storage.
Store all media and files on the media card, and you will have a smooth running device.
They run about $25.00usd, they are easy to install, and they also make moving your
media a snap. You will need the USB adapter that came with it, but you can get that at
    your local carrier store.
So if you agree with this I need some info.
On the Blackberry go to the options icon, click then scroll up to ABOUT.
I need your software version number, it's listed in this format: 4.x.x.xxx.
Send it back to me and I can tell you what size card you can get.
    Let me know your thoughts!

  • Graphic Design Portfolio apps?

I'm a graphic designer and I would like to consider using my iPad as a digital portfolio if I go on an interview, but I haven't found an iPad app that I like. Any suggestions? Only apps I've found are for photographers...
I can set up a simple slideshow but I would like something a little more "creative."
    Thanks.

I've also thought about using an iPad for my portfolio, but I'm not sold on the idea yet... Displaying your work on a laptop is probably a better option, though not as slick...
I've discussed this with some other designers and the general consensus is that wowing an interviewer with a cool piece of technology might overshadow your actual work. Afterall, the work is what they care about, not the technology.
And although the iPad's screen is vibrant, it's small (compared to a physical portfolio) and resolution is limited to 1024x768.
Then there's logistics... If the interviewer is holding the iPad, you'll have to get quite cozy with them to point or zoom-in to different parts of the work, or to jump to the next item.
I think you would definitely want to have paper prints of your work with you if you went the iPad route.

  • Can ipad apps be found on iphone?

can ipad apps be found on iphone. because on the ipad i have seen an app that shows a view of outer-space, the stars, satellites, etc.
    please reply to [email protected]
    Thanks

You're question is a bit unclear. Did you try to download an iPad app to your iPhone and you can't find it? Or are you asking it you can download an iPad app to your iPhone? For the former, use Spotlight to search for the app. If the latter, it depends. If it's an iPad only app, no, it won't download to the phone. However, some apps are "universal", meaning they will work on both the iPad and the iPhone. They are designated by a little plus over the price badge.
In the App Store, the description of the app will include what devices it will work on.

  • Is it possible and legal  to disable home button and the screenshot feature in an ipad app?

I am being asked to develop an iPad app that can't be closed until some actions are done, also it must prevent the use of screenshot feature and the home button. Is this possible? Is this legal? In case of this not being legal what would happen (in legal terms) if I do develop it?

It's impossible to develop an iPad app that can't be closed until some actions are done.  The iPad programmer cannot override what happens when the user presses the 'Home' button.  The 'Home' button will always tell the front application to go to the background, and if that application doesn't cooperate within a reasonable time it will be terminated.
Bear in mind that an iPad is an overgrown iPhone.  It's always possible that someone will phone you up when you're running an app, and the app must release control and let you answer that phonecall.
I suggest you discuss the design philosophy with whoever wants the application, remembering that computers are meant to help us do what we want to do, not boss us about.

  • Can I Publish iPad app with Creative Cloud or do I need to upgrade?

I have a subscription to Creative Cloud that is about to expire.
Before I renew - want to know if I can publish an iPad app with Creative Cloud, or do I need to upgrade to Creative Suite or Digital Publishing Suite?
    Thanks!

Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition was added to the Cloud in Sep 2012
    http://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/dpsse/
"As a Creative Cloud member, you can now create, develop, and deliver iPad apps using the tools you’re already familiar with. Design brochures, personal portfolios, yearbooks, annual reports — and integrate interactive elements such as slideshows and image sequences — using our latest release: the Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition.
This new functionality comes as a plugin to InDesign, making it an approachable and intuitive solution that leverages your existing skills — so if you know print design, you already know how to create an iPad app. What’s even more exciting is that, as a Creative Cloud member, you get the exclusive benefit of being able to submit an unlimited number of iPad apps to the Apple App Store. If purchased separately, publishing each app costs US $395."

  • I downloaded an iPad app on macbook how do i delete it

    Hi all,
I hope everyone is well. Thanks in advance for you help.
I downloaded an app in iTunes designed for the iPad not knowing at the time that iPad apps do not work on macbook pro.
On the iTunes page it says downloaded where you click to download.
My question is how do I find the app and delete it from the macbook (since there no point in it using up memory). I do not have an iPad.
    Thanks

If you used iTunes, then open it. Click on the Apps option under Libraries in the sidebar. Locate the app and CTRL- or RIGHT-click then select Delete from the context menu.

  • IPad App in Flash

    Hey guys,
I hope someone can help me out. I have to create an iPad App for a project at university and I'm not that familiar with AS3. I've heard that it's possible to program apps with CS 5.5. Is that true? Is it also possible with CS5?
And can anyone give me some tips for starting programming an app for the iPad? I've only done screen design so far, no programming. So I need some common transitions of the iPad, like slide and multitouch gestures. Maybe there is a library or such? Or an easier tool than AS3...
    Thanks a lot your support

    Thanks a lot!!
So I can use AS3 the usual way as I do for common aplication programming and just export it
as an ipa, is that right? Just things like creating movie clips, defining button states and such...
that will all work for ipa files as well?
If anyone knows some good templates would be great as well. I couldn't find some especially for
the iPad. I just need some easy transitions e.g. like sliding from one page to the next.
First I was also thinking about using Fireworks for my App but I think if Flash works it will be the
    better choice.

  • HT4082 Way to put Ipad apps on Iphone/Ipod

Hello everybody: Does anyone know a way that works to put Ipad apps on Ipod 3? I desperetly want to play chocabo panic  It's the only game that I serusly want that won't work on my Ipod. I have know one to play with anyway. Any help would be apreated.

Sorry jenmoon, but that app appears to only be made to work on the iPad. Many apps (as you probably already know) have been designed by the developers to work on all iOS devices. Apparently this one has not.
Here is a link to the developer's site. Perhaps you can provide feedback to them via this site:

  • Full screen ipad app (1024x768)

    Hi there,
Just trying out Adobe Proto to see if it might be useful for work. However, I want to prototype an iPad app. Is there a way to create a full screen app, that's 1024 x 768 in order to actually replicate an iPad app. The defaults don't seem to have it, but surely there must be a way as it's such a standard use case.
    Is it possible?

Unfortunately, 1024x768 px layout is not supported at current grid system.
However, you can turn off grid system to design for iPad app wireframe.
    Thanks,
    Takashi

  • IPad App Equivalents

I've had an iPhone 4 for quite some time. I've just gotten an iPad and synced it, putting on it most all the apps I've used on my phone. I know some of them now have iPad version equivalents, but is there a tool that will tell me, for iPhone "app X", that an iPad version of that app is available?

I've never seen one but typically the apps have nearly identical names. It will be a pain but you can find out by doing a search for each one.
By the way, if an app works on your iPad and you do NOT need to click the 2X button, that is a "universal" app (designed for both devices). "HD" is frequently used to identify an iPad app.

  • IPad App Rejected

I recently submitted a app designed in InDesign and then converted to an iPad app using Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. After a two week review process we notified that the app was rejected for the following reason:
    2.21
We found that your app is primarily a book and is therefore not appropriate for the App Store, as noted in theApp Store Review Guidelines.
Books should be submitted to the iBookstore. To work with Apple on iBookstore distribution, first verify that your content meets the following requirements:
    - ISBNs for all titles you intend to distribute
    - Is in EPUB format, passing EpubCheck 1.0.5
To obtain an ISBN for your content and learn more about ISBNs, please see US ISBN Agency. Then complete theiTunes Connect Online Application.
Visit iBookstore Aggregators for information on working with the iBookstore aggregators.
This app is made up of several photos and text. Any ideas of how to get the app approved? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I have just had the exact same issue at the end of December.
However in my case, out of 10 folios in DPS - 6 involve a lot of interactivity with the use of sliders, tap to view slideshows, overlay buttons/info on each of those folios and external links on last page.
The most complex of which have about 8 tap to view overlay functions on a single view and 7 pages in the single folio (most of these containing at least 5 images to reveal and view), The other four simpler folios mentioned are cover and simple breather pages which are more static.
Do you think I need to make every single folio more interactive and remove breather pages or enhance them?
Or should I ask apple to review it again pointing out the interactive parts as I have here? Ie would they just skim top level and not drill down to lower pages and see the sliders etc?
Lastly - Can you elaborate by "shouldnt be positioned as a book" when you submit?
