Designing Safari page for iPhone

iPhone is 480 pixels wide. But when I design an iPhone Safari homepage page that way, it's too narrow. I doesn't look right unless it's 962 pixels wide.
Why not? What is the correct size in pixels of an iPhone screen, and how best to I design an iPhone Safari page?

you may do better in the Developer or even the iWeb sections - but possibly the iPhone is designed to display regular (much wider than 480) pages w/o scrolling, so defaults to 'squeezing' yours to suit that.

I accidenetly deleted an important document from Pages-for-iphone.
Is there anyway to recover this document?

Tried backing it up from itunes, no luck. Too bad there wasn't a "Trash" feature on the I OS. Bummer. Thanks for the response-much appreciated.

Safari Home page for iPhone

Does anyone know why you can't set a homepage on safari on the iPhone?

Don't know why. Safari always goes back to the last page selected. If you want, you can save your desired home page as a web clip as described here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/how-to/#safari.web-clips
Then use the web clip icon in place of the Safari icon and you will always go to your home page.

How to Design a Page for Both Insertion and Updation

Hi,
I have Page where I need to populate a table from Standard PO/AP table and once the save is clicked on the table,
the data shoudl be inserted in custoim table.
Ex: Ui table wil have 3 columns and say 5 rows
- PO#
- Line#
- Amount for 'X' purpose
where PO# and Invoice# is populated and Amount is empty
User will enter value in Amount column in all 5 rows and click on Save button.
Now these 5 rows with 3 columns should be inserted into the custom table (PO#, Line# and Amount)
How Can I design Model Objects for such a requirement?

You should create an EO on your custom table and a VO on your EO. As you insert records in the VO, corresponding rows are created as EO rows and when you commit (getOADBTransaction().commit()) in the AM everything would get committed to the DB.
As far as subject goes of having a common page, everytime you can execute the VO with the bind parameters and check whether a row exists. If it does exist then update the VO Row (I expect the master record to be unique row). Otherwise create a new Row for the master and then correspondingly for the details row.

Can you change the currency formatting in a cell using Pages for iPhone?

Since my MacBook Pro is grumpy this morning, I downloaded Pages for my iPhone and then purchased the app "Inspiration Set" which contains a group of templates for use in Pages. I think the original templates were built on a Mac.
I have opened up the template, changed all the info to build my invoice, but they have a group of cells set for pounds instead of dollars. Does the iPhone version of Pages allow me to reformat these cells as dollars, instead of pounds?
My Mac is STILL not starting up, so I HAVE to be able to find a solution using the iPhone ONLY...

Update: I wrote the following before putting on my glasses and realizing that you were asking about Pages rather than Numbers. Maybe the same procedure will apply.

A good enhancement to iweb would be to have a model to make a mobile-friendly web site. Somebody knows whether this is in the plan of Apple to provide framework in iWeb to make a web page adapted for iPhone and other smartphone?

Tibetan Font Problem in Pages for iPhone/iPad

There is a problem in typing Tibetan in Pages for iOS (iPhone, iPod, iPad). More specifically, when we are typing conjunction Tibetan letters, it will sometimes omit the root letter or the upper letter. For example, in the picture, the last second words should be སྐྱོན་ཤོར་བ། སྐྱོན་ཤོར་བ། but it became ྱོན་ཤོར་བ། སྐྱོན་ཤོར་བ།
When we copy/paste the letter from other sources such as online Tibetan writings/IM/email, it will have no problem.

Pages for iphone

Hello Apple Community,
I have recently purchased Pages for my MacBook Air. Now I was trying to install the app to my iphone 4s, however I can not? It tells me I have to pay £6.99 for it again?
Is there any way I can get my Pages to work on my iphone as well? I wouldnt want to purchase pages again, seeing as I already have spent £15 on it.

I haven't got it for the iPhone, whose screen is too small*, a text editor is more suitable for that, but it certainly is nifty on an iPad.
Pages' great strengths are how it combines word processing, page layout, beautiful charts and spreadsheets all into the one file.
IBook Author which is almost identical (and free) is icing on the cake.
If you are not going to use Pages on your iPhone, which I think would be the case, don't bother buying the iOS version. Save your cash for when you get an iPad.

* I could see uses for it as a small iPhone multimedia reader for stuff created on your Mac. I create bite size tutorials/recipes in Pages and those could be usefully read (but not created) on an iPhone. But they could also be saved out as pdfs and be almost as useful.
Imagine you wanted to present information to a potential client, that calculated out "What ifs" in a small spreadsheet, generating sexy charts on the fly. With sample video and sound clips etc. My real estate agent did something similar, but using an iPad.
If that is not you, then stick with just the basic tools on your phone, which is after all just a phone.

Undo delete on Pages for iPhone?

i just installed mountain lion.
Documents in the cloud is nice but:
If you delete a document from the cloud on your mac i will be in your local trash.
but
if you delete it with your iphone its gone for ever.
Is there Undo delete on Pages or an other way to retreive a deleted document on the iphone.
Is the also backed up through timemachine ?

The sign on the door is a bit misleading, and you're not the first (or even the first today) to come to this Pages (Mac version) forum to ask a question about Pages for iOS.
Not many of us use iPad, so your question will be better served in the iWork for iOS community.
Actually, the question seems more of an OS question than a Pages one, as finding files is more of a System task than one done by the application. Unless you are searching within the Pages app, an even better place for your question would likely be the Using iPad community.

Numbers - Pages for iPhone?

Is there an iWork for iPhone? I see that Microsloth has Excel and there are other spreadsheet apps in the App Store, but is there an Apple-native app that has the Numbers - Pages apps that work on the iPhone, or is this in the works somewhere?

I wish there was!
I use google docs. with iPhone (not very usable - bit it does work). At home, I can download the google doc file and import it into numbers. You can cut and paste from numbers back to google docs.
Not a good solution - but it does work.
iWork.com is a great start (it is Beta still), and I have great hopes for it!!! Keep going Apple!!! don't stop here!!! Does not seem to work on iPhone fully (view document only) which is VERY odd....

BREAKING: New Design of InvisibleShield for iPhone 3G Released late July.

For anyone that got the pre-order of the iPhone 3g Shield full body case, anytime before july 20th send it back because there is a newer design that came out and it fit the iPhone Perfectly, just letting everyone know so they are not disappointed with the company.

The new full body design changed both the front and back pieces. The front now covers the upper and lower chrome bezel, making it a bit trickier to install. There is no longer the separate small lower bezel piece, but the home button piece is retained. The corners are also now slotted, so they lay flat easier and don't crease. The back is significantly easier to install and covers the corners and chrome bezel better.

Design question - best way to design a page for layout at runtime

I have an application that I want to port to ADF faces. The application currently generates HTML for both the layout and for the data at runtime. All of the examples I have researched rely on a layout defined at design time, which will not work in my case as I have no way of knowing exactly what the layout will be until runtime.
My question is what is the best way to use ADF faces to dynamically build a web page where the page layout can not be known at design time, only at runtime. Is there a way to build the component tree that will generate the HTML at runtime?
Here are the specifics:
I have an existing application that generates repeating sections of HTML for a user view -- a set of step by step instructions. Each step in the instructions contains one or more of the following elements
- a heading
- some text
- a table with text in the table cells
There can be one or more steps in a document. Some documents will have a few steps, some will have many steps.
I am looking for the best way to generate the repeating HTML steps in a single HTML document.
One idea: can I use a fragment for each step and bind to the data at rutime? If this works, how would I create an iterator or loop that would be able to include the fragment n times to render a single HTML view showing the sequence of all steps?

What I am really trying to do here is to generate HTML at runtime. This is easy to do with servlets and or jsp, it looks like it is very difficult or impossible with ADF Faces. Using Java EE technologies, I simply include or exclude the HTML markup as an output of my servlet or jsp. I can use JSTL and a backing bean to do most of this. Unfortunately, in ADF faces, it seems that all controls are defined at design time in XML. Editing the XML files at runtime does not seem to be a logical approach. I have tried adding some controls in the backing bean at runtime, and got them to render. However, I also got an el error at runtime, indicating that the framework cannot find the accessor methods, which of course makes sense, as they don't exist in the backing bean. I don't really see any way to effectively modify the backing bean to accommodate this use case.
Interestingly, a coworker is using .Net to do a similar project. In this project we want to print labels using convention instead of configuration. In the convention, we have a data object that contains named fields. We try to match up the field name in a label template with the field name in the data structure, using reflection. Any fields that cannot be matched up end up as input text boxes with associated prompts. Since we cannot know how many fields will match up at design time, we dynamically build a web page containing one or more text inputs for the user to enter data that cannot be pulled from our data structure. We return this page to the user for data input. In short, using .Net we can create a single tool that can be used to print any current or future label our users may want to create. Apparently, .Net can do this quite easily.
This is a somewhat common approach, that I have used in a number of businesses. Did Oracle really miss this use case with ADF Faces, or is there some way to approach these types of problems?

I was setting up my pop's new iPhone 4. When I was setting up the Safari Browser, it asked what I thought was which search engine I wanted to use, so I entered Google. Problem is that I somehow made the Safari Browser open up into a Google Browser. I love Safari & can't find how to switch it back to a Safari Browser when I touch the Safari App on Pop's iPhone. Looked in settings & couldn't find how to correct my mistake. Help please.

Google doesn't, to the best of my knowledge, even make a browser for iOS. Even if they did, you would have had to have downloaded it from the App Store. And, even if you had downloaded an alternate browser (there are quite a few), they wouldn't launch if you tapped the Safari icon.
What, exactly, do you mean when you say "Google browser"? What are you seeing?
