Designjet t520 36 inch spits out long paper feed instead of printing

Product is HP Designjet T520 36" Plotter. 36" roll paper installed.  Printing from Adobe Acrobat, large size maps, prints at 35" x 60". Sending the print to the plotter causes the plotter to spit out a large, blank paper instead of printing. Do not get error message.
Help ~ this is wasting an entire roll of paper! There is no way to cancel or stop the plotter when it feeds large, blank sheets instead of printing.
We have tried different settings. Updated the firmware today. Very frustrated ~ can someone please help?

  • HP PSC 2175 spits out blank paper while I print.

I have Dell GX520 Desktop PC with Windows XP service pack 3 and HP PSC 2175 all-in-one printer. Since few days I m having trouble printing with my printer. When I try to print it simply picks up the paper scans it and spits out  blank paper instead of printing it. There is no any error message or flashing light or any thing in the printer.
But still I can make copy or print the test page from it. The only thing is I can't print any document from WordPad or NotePad or through Adobe Reader. I don't have Office on my PC.
I have tried every thing that I can do. Uninstall the driver and reinstalled  it  downloading from HP website, updated the drivers manually, replaced new cartridges and what not. But I still have the problem. It would be so helpful if you have any solution to this problem.

    I'm having the same problem....
The computer is a hp pavilion.
When trying to print, It loads the paper, It checks the paper position, then it just ejects the paper.
I opened the print job que and watched it.
When the print job ques up, it shows the job...then deletes the job before printing it.
It has been working fine up until a few days ago.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Printer has paper, but computer says it is out of paper and won't print from web

I am having trouble getting the computer to recognize that the printer has paper. The printer will print copies that I put in it, but when I want to print from the web, it won't let me do it; it just tells me that the printer is out of paper. I printed a number of pages from the web yesterday with no problem at all. I have an HP Deskjet F2430.

I was trying to print off some material I had looked up on the web. When I saw what I was trying to print was going to be 40 pages, I did not want to continue printing it, and I did not know how to stop the printing, so I just pulled out my paper from the loader thing. I have since put paper back in the loader, but now my printer will not print anything, and says I am out of paper. I have tried and tried to fix this problem, and I really need to be able to print stuff, so I am pretty frustrated with this. I am a senior citizen and will admit that I am not all that astute with tech stuff. I would certainly appreciate some guidance with my problem. Thank you very much.

  • My HP PSC 2175 printer spits out blank paper while I try to print.

I have Windows XP service pack 3. My printer(HP PSC 2175 All-in-one) use to work well until few days before. I leave the printer unused for few days and now when I came back to use it , it simply picks up paper scans( a ledger like light runs to and fro at the top end of paper) and spits the paper out. This  only happens when I try to print. I can still make black copies well from the same machine. I only have Note pad and Word Pad. It does the same with both. I tried with pdf document too. It still persists its problem. But if I open the Hp service tool box through printing preference and print the test page it prints.
I have tried every thing that I can do. I've repalced the new cartiage, uninstalled the existing driver softer and installed new from hp website. Updated them and what not.
Can you tell me what is wrong with my printer? pls.

    Hi,
It looks like you've tried some of the troubleshooting steps listed in this document, but there are a few more to try first.  Click on the + besides the XP section and follow the steps in order.  See if this helps, if it doesn't I'll look for some more.

  • How do I remove an emery board that was sucked into the paper feed of my printer?cc=us

I laid an emery board on my paper on the printer.  I forgot and printed without removing it.  It is somewhere in my printer but I cannot find it.  Has anyone had this problem?

Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model?  Removing the back panel (or duplexer if the printer has one) may provide access.

  • Hp officejet pro8500 a910 shoots out blank paper when trying to print from windows 10 installed firefox. Printer works fine from chrome and ie.

I am beta testing windows 10. I use both a hp laptop (dv77128nr) and a desktop (home made). I use a hp officejet pro8500 a910 printer.
When using firefox I get only blank pages while trying to print from within the browser. Only using firefox. Chrome works fine. IE works fine. If I boot to windows 7, firefox works fine. Can you help or should I report this to Microsoft?
    Thanks for your help.
ps. Tried resetting firefox. Haven't tried a new install.

Firefox isn't officially supported on Windows 10. For that matter, Windows 10 isn't officially supported either. This is most likely a problem between Firefox, Windows 10, and your printer's driver. Try updating your printer's driver and see if that helps. Otherwise, it might be a good idea to post this on Microsoft's forums as well.

  • Every time I do a print job, My printer spits out extra blank paper. I have a HP Photosmart Premium

I have HP Photosmart Premium.  Everytime I do a print job my printer spits out extra paper.  Sometime it says something Like Page 2 of 2   and other time  it is just blank ,  Some of the pages have a gray line across the bottom.  I try to reuse what I can, but would like to know how to stop this.

Typically this is an error in the software connection with the printer.  However, one can test this to narrow the issue down by printing a self test page or by making a copy with the printer.  If the unit produces no extra pages, then most likely it is coming from the computer.
If you are USB connected, then I would advise unplugging the USB cable to the printer and restarting the PC.  While the PC is restarting, I would advise performing a Hard Reset to the printer.
    * Unplug printer while powered on
    * Unplug other end of power cord from wall outlet
    * Wait 30 seconds
    * Plug unit back in for power
There is also a document with steps to troubleshoot when a printer is producing blank sheets of paper.  To access the document, click here.  Let me know how it goes.

  • HP Photosmart 2610 All in One Printer Paper feeds OK but the software and sensors are a problem

HP Photosmart 2610 All in One Printer   Paper feeds OK but the software and sensors are not allowing paper to feed until several steps are taken first.
(I am using Windows 7.  I also use the virtual XP mode and mostly MS Office 2003 docs).
I have had this printer for several years and love it.  Before I toss it out, I thought I would check if I could get it to work properly before I buy another printer.  Note: I did put in a new HP black cartridge (because it was out of ink) but the printer was not working properly for several days before I changed the cartridge. The printer was at step 5 before ink change.
Lately, each time I turn on my printer, I have to go through the same routine
    1. The printer wants to align the cartridges so I push OK
    2. The paper feeds into the printer and stops at the exact place to start printing.
    3. Error message appears that it is out of paper.  So I press OK to continue.
    4. It says "aligning print cartridges" runs through 2 sheets of blank paper without trying to do anything and then states "cartridge alignment failed"  "Press OK to continue"
    5. Screen is now normal and it appears it is going to work.
    6. It makes no difference if I used the copy function OR when I send a print job from the computer, the paper feeds into the printer and stops at the exact place to start printing but nothing happens.
    7. Error message appears that it is out of paper. OR that it is the wrong size paper.  I pull the paper that was at the proper place to be printed from the printer and then the error message says "Paper jam.  Press OK to continue"
    8.  I press OK.  The printer will then quickly feed in and eject 2 sheets of paper before it will actually start printing the print job.  It will work fine after this as long as I print from the same document.
    9. If I want to print a different document then I have to start all over again at step 6 to get the printer to work.  If I shut the printer off I have to go back to step 1.
    What I have already tried
    A.  Uninstalled and reinstalled the printer driver direct from HP web site.  I have done this several times with both the basic driver download and the complete package download.
    B.  I have done a partial reset by unplugging the printer, and then re-plugging the printer while pushing the  "# and 3" buttons while turning on the printer.  I have done this several times.  Each time it will work fine until I try a different document of turn off the printer.
    C. I have downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor and used it several times.  It states that "everything checks out OK"
    D. I have downloaded the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility 4.0 but it does not work with my printer.
    E.  I have cleaned all the rollers and blown air throughout to make sure there were no bits of junk in the paper's path or blocking a sensor.
    F.  I have tried different brands and weights of paper (all 8½  x 11) but nothing works.
Most of the problems started when I added the printer to the virtual machine so I could print XP files.  This may just be a coincidence because the printer has the same problems when I use the copy function without the computer being on.
Thanks for looking at my issues.  Any help would certainly be appreciated.

I just tried using Notepad as you suggested and had the same result.  Paper feeds in stops at proper place and error message "out of paper"
I just put in two new HP ink cartridges because the other two were low and I was told that this might be the problem.
I seem to remember that the HP 2610 shows 2 "ink icons" in the lower left corner.  One for black and one for color.  The ink icons would change from completly full to just an outline as the amount of ink went down.  Currently the black ink icon is missing
This is a very frustrating problem because the printer works great after doing a few steps to get around the problem.  The fact that the problem reoccurs any time anything is changed is the major problem
Most of the problems started when I added the printer to the Windows 7 virtual machine so I could work with Windows XP programs.  This may just be a coincidence because the printer still has the same problems when I use the copy function without the computer even being on.
I want to thank you for all of your efforts.  Perhaps this is a unique problem that will never be solved and it is best to take my losses and buy a new printer.  As a last chance, if possible, could you refer my post to someone who is an expert with the HP 2610 printer.

  • Photosmart 2610 Error messages. Paper feeds OK but stops under print head

Using MS Windows 7 with the XP mode Virtual Machine
Printer worked fine in Windows 7.  The problems started when I added the printer to the virtual machine so I could print XP files that worked fine; however, the printer did not work properly in Windows 7.  I uninstalled the printer from the virtual machine but the problems remain in Windows 7 mode.
    1. It makes no difference if I used the copy function with the computer shut off OR when I send a print job from the computer, the paper feeds into the printer and stops at the exact place to start printing but nothing happens.

    4.  If I shut the printer off OR if I want to print from a different document then I have to start all over again at step 1 to get the printer to work.
I have already tried the typical fixes such as:
    A.  Uninstalled and reinstalled the printer driver direct from HP web site several times with both the basic driver and the complete package download.
    B.  I have done a partial and full reset. I have done this several times.  Each time it will work fine until I try a different document of turn off the printer.
    C. I have used the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it states that "everything checks out OK"

    Thank you

During the standard uninstall, some components are left behind that could cause errors in new installations. I'm betting that if you do a full software scrub, and clean up the computer a bit, the printer will install and work like it should. I'll provide the steps below. Let me know what happens.
    From a download:
    1. Run disk cleanup on your computer
    2. Download and run the software and drivers below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-76831-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
    3. Once the download is done extracting, cancel the download.
    4. Click the start menu.
    5. Click Run.
    6. Type %temp% in the run field
    7. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    8. Open folder Util
    9. Open folder CCC
    10. Run the uninstall_ L4.bat for non-HP computers.
    11. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    12. Access Program Files and Program Files(x86) and delete the HP folder under each one.
    13. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
    14. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    15. Use this tool to clean the system and registry.  Note: This utility is not HP sponsored or approved.  HP and I are not responsible for damages or loss of data caused by the utility.  This step is optional.   You can skip it if you want.

  • 8500A Photo Printing Paper "Out of Paper" Message

When I place a sheet of HP photo paper in my 8500A Office Jet Printer it will not print, either in the tray or the feeder. The unit states it is "out of paper."  Photos will print on regular paper, but NOT photo paper.  I have tried putting only photo paper in, photo paper on top of regular paper.  Nothing works.  BTW I see there was a similar post, but when I click on the "solved...go to solution" it returns to the post.  Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. It's like it won't/can't grip the photo paper. I see the rollers touching the paper but it just won't advance to print. And yes, I have the paper in correct side (back) up .

  • Officejet A909a prints from mac but when from windows "out of paper" message appears.

I have an older 8500 which has been very loyal to me and I have looking after it well, which is now pushing 4000 pages.  However i went to print a file from my Windows 7 PC yesterday which is connected via usb, and it wouldnt print saying it was out of paper (which it wasn't) about half full . So i tried again no luck. UN-installed then reinstalled the printer still noting. went to my work laptop (windows 7) which is connected wirelessly through the network, same again "no paper" message appears. i thought this is strange turned it off back on still nothing even after disconnecting it from the mains for a few minutes, nothing the same message still appears.
However, my son has a mac book pro and he just printed his coursework off the printer effortlessly through my network. so i know the printer is fine especially as i have now printed self test pages off through the printer itself.
I have no idea what to do now, as i have tried uninstalling then installing, printing via usb and network. and when i say "out of paper" i mean the printer receives the print command from my computer as it tries to feed paper a few times but cant pick it up also i have tried with various paper levels in the printer (full, half, about 20 pages, 1 single page)
    Please help.

    Hello @Dangerous97,
I understand that when printing from your 2 Windows 7 computers you receive an 'out of paper' message after your HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer struggles and fails to pick up paper. However, you are able to print from a Mac computer. This is very unusual behaviour!  I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Also, thank you for including that you are able to print self-test pages from the printer with no issues as well.
Generally, 'out of paper' messages are caused by a hardware issue with the printer itself. Because you are able to print standalone to your printer and from a Mac, there may be an issue with the documents that you're trying to print from your Windows 7 computer or a programming issue with your printer.
With that being said, to start I would like you to click here to download and install the latest programming Firmware Update on your printer. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left. Once the download is complete, please follow any onscreen instructions to send the update to your printer.
Once the Firmware has been successfully updated, please test printing again.
Please respond to this post with the result of the Firmware Update. Good luck!

  • HP photosmart 5520 my new printer on photo printing keeps stating out of paper

my new HP photosmart 5520 will not print photos. It keeps flashing "out of paper, reload" when the printer is already loaded with paper single and several sheets. Is this a faulty machine that I bought or can it be rectified. I never had this problem with my previous Kodak printer. Could you please advise what can be done to remedy this or should I purchase another make of printer. Thanks Michael

    Hello shuter1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are having photo printing issues with the Photosmart 5520, it will not feed the paper. Will the printer print on regular 8.5x11 paper?
What is the paper type and size you are trying to print these photos on?
See if following the steps outlined in this guide will help: Printing Photos Saved on Your Computer or Memory Card.
I will look back for your reply.

  • HP 1315 paper feed problems

All-in-one HP 1315 won't print the self-test sheet. paper feeds intermittently; sometimes prints the self-test after 2 blank sheets go through..

    Hello @RhondaGS,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing paper feed issues when printing from your Windows 7 computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this paper feed issue. However, before I am able to accurate guide you to a solution I do need to clarify a few things.
    (1) What size, type and weight is your cheque paper?
    (2) What program are you printing cheques through?
In the meantime, I am going to run you through some standard paper feed troubleshooting steps. This will include checking your paper path for any debris that may be causing paper feed issues, and checking the rollers. Please click here to access the paper path troubleshooting steps. Once the support document opens please run through Solution two, Solution three, and Solution four. Once troubleshooting is complete, please test printing again to verify if the issue is resolved. Just to note, always make sure you're loading one type of media in your paper tray at one time. You do not want to mix plain paper and cheque paper, or any other paper in the paper tray as this can cause paper to 'slip' when being fed into your machine and create additional paper jam or feeding issues.
Please respond to this post with the result of checking the paper path and rollers. Should the issue persist, be sure to include the answers to my two questions above in your response. I look forward to hearing from you!
