Desk clock

What has happened to the desk clock in the clock app?

On my S3, in the standard Clock app, there are several modes - Alarm, World Clock, Stopwatch, Timer and Desk Clock.
On my new S5 there is no Desk Clock option.
Now this may seem trivial, but the desk clock was perfect for going to bed, plugging in the phone to the charger, setting it to desk clock (which also allowed you to set an alarm or alarms).
Just don't know why it would be taken out of the app.
Or perhaps there is a setting somewhere to make it reappear.
Lacking that, any recommendations for a good clock app...?

  • Help with the desk clock application

hi there,  our cell phone sleeps with nothing but a dark screen.  So instead of the dark black screen, I'd like to activate the desk clock so that I can always see the time without having to on the phone. Is it currently possible on the xperia Z1?
    Thanks

    My problem exactly, JimmyJames!
Smart Connect allows automatic starting of the "Alarm & Clock" app from either the DK31 Charging Dock, the mains charger, or both, but not the Desk clock itself without dropping down the menu and selecting "Desk clock".  What'd be nice would be to be able to go straight to the Desk clock as soon as the Z1 is placed in the DK31 dock.
In any case, there needs to be some way of turning off the "sleep" mode for this app once in the "Desk clock", as it promptly reverts to the blank screen once sleep mode cuts in.  Makes it all rather pointless!
As you also say, "Daydream" does not give either "Alarm & clock" or "Desk clock" as options.
Any way to achieve an automatic "Desk clock" display that doesn't go to sleep?

  • Stock Clock app desk clock function

I've used the stock Clock app on my S4 (and previously on a different phone with an earlier version of Android) for alarms, timers, and a stopwatch. I only just discovered (because it's scrolled off to the right in portrait mode) that it has a desk clock feature as well. Sorry for the length of this, but I want to post on this in case others have not seen it either. (The user manual is hopelessly uninformative.)
When you tap the Desk Clock button in the Clock app (turn it sideways to landscape mode for easiest access), you get a screen with the time and date, a calendar, and a weather widget. (On my S4 it's an AccuWeather widget, which seems not to update unless GPS is on, making it less useful.) In either portrait or landscape mode, it's a handy clock to have on, especially with a kickstand. Press the Menu key to get Settings for options to display or not display the calendar and weather, and to access the system Date and time settings.
It gets handier when you tap the little icon in the upper right corner to make it full screen. Now it displays without the other Clock app buttons across the top. It also has four shortcuts across the bottom of the screen, for Alarm, Music, Gallery, and Internet. The Menu key in this full-screen mode offers more options, including changing or hiding those app shortcuts, and settings to hide the Status bar and to choose a background from your gallery or use the Home screen wallpaper (but a busy background makes the clock hard to read).
In this mode, the desk clock display is not affected by the screen timeout setting. It will display indefinitely. After a brief time, it turns off the background image (I hear two little splash noises when it does this) and just displays the time and date and weather on a black background, I presume to save battery. To prevent the remote possibility of burn-in, it even moves the items displayed around on the screen every so often. This display mode can also bypass the lock screen. With the desk clock in full-screen mode, press the Power/Lock key. (Again I hear not one but two little splashes when the phone turns off.) When I press the Power/Lock key again, instead of my lock screen, I get the full screen desk clock.
You may want to plug the phone in if you keep the clock displayed for a long time; even with the black background it's going to be using some battery. As far as I can tell, using the above procedure will keep the clock displayed as long as you want. Since it bypasses your lock screen, when you press Power/Lock to turn the phone on with the clock displayed, everything is available: you can just touch the screen to restore the background and access the notification bar, or press the Home button, or whatever.
Two last notes: The settings for the Desk Clock function also include settings for Dock, which I don't use and can't report on. Also, I don't have a PIN or pattern set up for my lock screen. I suspect that if you do, this will not bypass the lock screen, on the reasonable assumption that you want some actual security; but I don't know for certain, and hopefully someone with experience on that score can post a reply.

    Nice! Thanks for the write-up.

  • Snooze on Alarm Clock

Is anyone else having issues with the snooze button not working on the stock clock app?
I used to have my alarm set to snooze every five minutes up to 3 times and ever since I got the froyo update, if I hit snooze it doesn't work and go off.
And before anyone says to do a "soft reset" and take out the battery, that does not fix the issue at all.
This froyo update has been more of a pain then helpful!

Sorry for the problems you have experienced with the alarm clock feature of your Fascinate. After some research, I found the following as a fix for the issue:
    1. Go to desk clock and then to Alarm tab.
    2. Then on Alarm screen click setting button(==)which is next right to home screen, where you get three options Add Alarm,Delete and Settings
    3. Click settings, where you can see 4 options.
    4. Select Side Button Behavior(Set the desired behavior of the side buttons when pressed during alarm).
    5. Once you click that setting you will now get three options A. None(if you click side button during alarm nothing happens) B. Snooze(The alarm will go to snooze if you click any side button during alarm) and C. Dismiss(The alarm will dismiss if you click any side button during alarm).
Choose option B to snooze the alarm.
If this does not solve the problem, please let us know and we will be able to troubleshoot further with you.
    Thanks!

  • How to make a photo as circle shape ?

I am trying to sublimate my desk clock and it is round with 4.75" is there a way I can do the image exactly as the templates

Thanks for your info input yes the template doesn't have transparency how I could do that I think this will solve the issue Many thanks
Like I said.  It depends.  You could put the template layer at the top of the stack, with blend mode set to Multiply, but it depends the tonal vals of each layer at any particular location.  You could use Blend if in Layer Styles, or make an Alpha channel from the template — if the background of the template layer is pure white, and of these methods will work for you.
Try it.  If it doesn't work, you'll need to upload screen shots to show us what you are working with.

  • Accessories Not Available

    Verizon,
There is a total lack of Droid Incredible accessories when it comes to docking stations.  I need a car docking station, similar to the one offered for the Verizon Droid, that allows me to use Navigator without my phone sliding all over the car.  Also a Night Stand docking station would be nice for charging and viewing the Desk Clock screen designed into the phone.
Again, these accessories are available for the Verizon Droid.
WHEN WILL THEY BE AVAILABLE FOR THE HTC DROID INCREDIBLE???
    Best Regards,

  • Phone discharging while plugged in at night, battery dead in the morning

I'm using the OEM charger and OEM battery that came with my phone, and I charge it at night everynight. I also use the phone as my alarm clock, and have done so since I bought it over 2 months ago. Suddenly this week it has discharged overnight while being plugged in. This happened twice. I plugged it in and went to bed, leaving the desk clock on (with the night mode activated). The charging light was on and I used the phone while plugged in for a few minutes, and I made sure the charging icon was displayed on the battery icon. This morning I fortunately woke up before my alarm was supposed to sound, however the phone was completely dead. Orange charging light was flashing, still plugged in, but wouldn't do anything at all. I had to do a battery pull and plug it back in, charge for a couple of minutes, and then it would finally come back on. When it did, it showed the battery was at 1%. It is now charging normally, back up to 18% after about 40 minutes of charging, and hasn't frozen again.
The first night this happened, I did not have an alarm set at all. The second night, I did have an alarm set with Alarm Clock Plus app.
I know there is a pending software update, however it hasn't been pushed to my phone yet, and when I try to have the phone search for an update, it shows the update is there but gives me an error message when I try to download it. From what I understand, I just have to wait until Verizon decides to push the update to my phone, is that correct?
    Thanks.

  • There are a few cases out!

Go to ebay and type in "ipod video case" you will find that there are some silicone and "tube" cases already out there..

It takes a lot of "elbow grease". I put it on and rub it in a circular fashion with a soft cloth (the one that came with the kit) using some pressure, and then polish it off with more circular rubbing when it dries. For deeper scratches, they recommend rubbing it perpendicular to the axis of the scratch (across the scratch rather than lengthwise), and then take out those rub marks with the circular motion rubbing. It may take several applications to see a difference. CD's are soft enough that I've seen improvement on the first application (but that depends on how trashed the CD is). I use the #2 formulation (the #1 is just a cleaner with no abrasive power, and #3 is more strongly abrasive stuff which needs to be followed by #2 to take out little marks left by #3).
I bought a used Yamaha folk guitar that had a high gloss finish that was considerably scuffed by the prior owner. I tried to clean it up with automobile polishing compound and wax (as recommended by a musician friend), and it left a lot of fine scratches in the finish that made me very unhappy that I had even started that job. After stressing out how I had ruined the guitar, I got out the Novus #2, and it did a very nice job of taking out those scratches and returning the finish to a high gloss. I've also used in on desk clock crystals and cell phone screens and had it do a good job.

  • Sony s tablet

how do I disable the green light above the power button on the sony s tablet. This light will blink when the tablet is on the cradle or just idle.

Any of the following events can cause the LED light to blink:

  • Blinking Green Light

Occasionally after an update, when I turn my iPod on, the power light on the front will display the usual green. However, there will be a pop in the headphones, and the green light will just blink as if it keeps turning on and off. This prevents me from listening to music. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

    Hello Everyone.
    Thank you for your posts.
While your tablet is asleep, a notification LED light ( the Green Light) will blink when certain things happen that you may want to know about immediately when they occur.
Any of the following events can cause the LED light to blink:
    • Calendar: A scheduled time or date has been reached.
    • Desk Clock: A scheduled alarm time has been reached.
(This will be accompanied by an alarm sound)
    • Email: A new email is received.
    • Social Feed Reader: A new post has been made.
    • Gmail: A new email is received.
    • Talk (Google Talk): A new message is received.
Most of these events can be changed by accessing the settings
Others such as the social feed reader would require you to remove that app from being monitored to prevent notification as that is one of its key functions.
This will not affect the facebook or twitter app, just the social feed app for notification from both services.

  • Weather location?

I just got my TB 2 days ago. I had to remove the battery to get to the SD card so I could transfer pics off my old phone to this one. After I put the battery back in, it changed my weather location to Mill Valley. I am in Buffalo, NY. I have tried adding my location under weather, but it says my city is not found. My location however is correct when I go under maps. How do I get my correct location back? The VZW Location Services and Google Location Services are checked to "on". I have also gone under Manage Applications and tried clearing the data for the HTC Weater Sync Provider...I saw in another forum that this worked for somone, but it hasn't helped me. I appreciate any help, thanks.

I downloaded Weatherbug (free) from the market and am also using Beautiful Widgets (paid) for the clock/weather widget (suppose to be more efficient that the stock HTC flip clocks).
I then can set it up so tapping the weather on the screen launches weatherbug instead of HTC's weather, tapping time on the screen launches the desk clock app and tapping the date launches the calendar. As a bonus my phone finds me in Rochester NY and not Northwest Comanche OK

  • Dock mode

I have had my Rhyme for about a week now and I accidentally changed it out of Dock mode.  Verizon support was not able to help me switch it back.  Anyone know how to get this thing back in Dock mode?

I would be happy to see what we need to do to get the Rhyme out of dock mode.
    Switching to Dock Mode
Dock Mode turns HTC Rhyme into a desk clock, photo slideshow viewer, or
music player. You can also set it as a speakerphone when you receive calls
    while HTC Rhyme is docked.
    1. With the dock plugged in, place HTC Rhyme into the dock.
HTC Rhyme automatically turns on Bluetooth and switches to Dock
    Mode.
    2. If prompted, choose how you want to use the dock for audio.
To exit Dock Mode, tap the circle with the x in it or remove HTC Rhyme from the dock.
Once that is done what happens? Did it go back to dock mode when plugged back in to the dock station?

  • Set Action for Cradle

Initially I know I could have chosen Chumby, Clock or Gallery for display when the tablet is set on the cradle. I chose clock, but I wish to change it. I have looked everywhere I can think, on the tablet and online. How can I change it now ?
    Thanks
Also, I assume since when you put in a SD card, file transfer comes up, that you can't play media direct from the card ? if you have 8 gig avail and a 9 gig movie then it isn't happening ? Thanks again.

  • Service Desk Escaltions First Response Escalate to line manager

    Hi Experts
We have successfully implemented Service Desk in Solution Manger. We just have a few problems with regards to escalations.
    1.     Sap Standard only allows you to escalate to one partner function, we would like to first response and completion deadline missed to escalate to the line manager
as well the message processor, can you please assist on how we can achieve this?
    2.     With regards to the first response time, when an incident is created is created the message processor has 2 hours to respond before his call escalates, if the initial message processor
sat with the incident for an hour in new status and reassigns to the incident to someone else the second person only has an hour respond the clock does not start again for him and the
call escalates after an hour this is causing a lot of problems for all calls that are been reassigned people no longer have sufficient time to respond to calls,
Has anyone else had similar experience and what was your fix for this problem?
    Thanks and Kind Regards.
    Zak Kader

    Thanks PP for some insights.
Maybe you can help in one more area,
Say we create a Service Order, the header and do not create the line item entry yet.
However, we need the dates (first response date) to feed to an outside system where we are
    tracking our SLA's.
Do you know where the date logic is done to get the Frist response date. Any FM's being used
We would like this information as dates that we need are not created until the line item is entered.
We want to not have to create the line item but still get the dates and send them to another tracking system.
Any help on  where SAP CRM puts this logic would be helpful
    Thanks,
