DESK JET 6940

i have a desk jet 6940 that will not comunicate with my desk top computer.I have a DELL with
windows professional. Its hooked up to a router.

Hello jghiggs, welcome back to the forums
I read your post about how your Deskjet 6940 is not communicating with your Windows PC, that is connected to a router.
I will gladly do my best to help you however, I will need some more information from you to clarify the problem.
Please let me know the answers to the following questions and if you have not yet tried the steps, please give them a shot and let me know the results!
Can you print a test page from the printer itself (without using the PC)?
Do this by pressing the cancel button (X) on the printer until the test pages starts printing, and then release the button.
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor which may correct the printing issue, if not it will alert you to where the issue is, let me know the detailed results.
Have you tried printing from different programs?
Which version of Windows are you running? (XP, 7, 8, 8.1)
How is the printer connected to the computer? (Wireless/Ethernet/USB)?
Have you tried an alternate connection?
What Firewalls and Anti-virus software are installed? Have you tried disabling or uninstalling them?
Please let me know the above information and results and we will proceed from there!
Thank you and enjoy your Wednesday!

I cannot detect my wireless HP desk jet 3520 printer from my iPad?

I can't find an Arris router with that model number, are you sure it is not a TG862?
Regardless, Arris routers are known to either be incompatible with Bonjour or have problems with Bonjour packets hence Airprint will not work. Check with Arris' website and see if there is a firmware update availble for your router for Bonjour/Airprint compatibility and install it or switch out your router.

  • Help with HP desk jet F4435 on MacBookPro

I tried installing my HP desk jet F4435 with the disc that came with the printer. I received a "successful" message. It wouldn't print. Then I uninstalled the printer and tried just plugging in the USB to connect it. Tried printing and receieved yet another error message.
    HELP!

Some hp driver software for your printer here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&sw_l ang=&product=304431#N207
If needed, gutenprint 5.2.9 can be obtained here:
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
Many network printers do not require an explicit driver, or can use "Generic". They accept standard protocols and can be printed to directly. If the printer can be discovered automatically and appears in the list of available printers, it should determine what driver is needed and go fetch any needed driver for you.

  • Connecting iPad to desk jet 2540 printer

How can I connect my new hp desk jet 2540 printer to my iPad as the web page dose not work and there dose not seem to be any other way as an iPad dose not have a cd rom.

    Hi,
If your router support WPS (Wireless Protected Setup), you may connect it to your network using this method, you may find the steps below:
Method one: Push buttonFollow these instructions to connect using the Push button method on your printer control panel.
On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button ( ) for more than three seconds. The Wireless Status light starts blinking.
Press the WPS button on your router. The printer begins a timer for approximately two minutes while a wireless connection is established.
Method two: PINFollow these instructions to connect using the PIN method on your printer control panel.
On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless button ( ) and the Start Copy Black button ( ) at the same time. The Network Configuration page prints.
Find the WPS PIN printed at the top of the page.
On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button ( ) for more than three seconds. The Wireless Status light starts blinking.
Open the configuration utility or software for the wireless router or wireless access point, and then enter the WPS PIN.
NOTE: For more information about using the configuration utility, see the documentation provided with the router or wireless access point.
Wait about 2 minutes. If the printer connects successfully, the wireless light stops blinking but remains lit.
If your router does not support WPS, a computer is required for its network configuration. use any Windows PC or a Mac to connect it for the first time by following these steps:

  • Need a part for a Desk Jet 550C, dont know what it is, but i have a picture

im trying to find a replacement part for my old Desk Jet 550C
i think its called a cap, and prevents the cartridge from drying out.
    *sigh*
wont let me insert the image for whatever reason so ill post the direct link
    http://i.imgur.com/1OmU0RM.jpg
there are reccessed spaces for 1 rectangular cap on the left (for the black cartridge) and 1 square cap on the right (for the color cartridge)
they are made out of some kind of a rubbery material. i have the cap for the color cartridge, but it is removed currently as i have just washed all the old ink out of it and its still drying.
    Edit: more pics, more info
took me about 2 or 3 minutes to safely and carefully get the printer taken apart, at which point i found the missing 'cap'
here is a picture of them both, but the left cap is brittle, and still needs to be replaced if at all possible. (left cap is for the black ink cartridge, right cap is for the color cartridge; both cartridges rest atop these caps to seal the cartridges whenever they are not actively printing on a page)

found a few things also in there that raised a few questions
1: what is this? its is by the back right leg of the printer, on the bottom
    http://imgur.com/X1HdUe1
2: what are these? are the switches still in the right posistion?

    Hi warper10,
I understand that you are looking for parts for your Deskjet 550C. Unfortunately, there are no parts for this printer except ink cartridges, unless you can find someone with this printer.
I can supply this link for the HP DeskJet 550C User's Guide.

  • I have a Desk Jet 3050. How can I get it back online?

The product is HP Desk Jet 3050 , I operate on Windows 7. Printer is saying not connected to wireless. My local cable company had internet issues and the printer worked fine before. Everything BUT the wireless printer worked normal after the issue was repaired by cable company. I have tried the HP scan doctor download. It comes back as saying the printer has no power. Which it clearly does. I have powered everything off then repowered. Nothing happened. The test report states Network Name::FAIL. I do not know how to fix this problem. Any suggestion will be helpful!

how do I set up wireless printing between my desk jet 2542 and my computer?

    Hello danamaple,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Depending on the Operating System installed on the computer, setting up the Deskjet 2540 can be done different ways. The easiest and most popular method is to use a USB cable and the printer software to setup wireless on the printer.
