Desk Jet 810C Not Printing Magenta

I need some troubleshooting help.
Months ago, my black ink cartridge started to empty and the printer started using reds or blues. I replaced the black cartridge with a refurbished one from Office Max. All worked fine.
The color cartridge started to empty a few months later, so I again went to Office Max and obtained a rebuilt color cartridge. I rarely print in color, but at times, after scanning a document on my HP scanner, when it printed it was in blue and red again. This was when I hit the "scan and print" button on my scanner. If I saved the scan as a PDF, it would print fine in B/W.
Now, the printer will only print black, yellow and green. The red/magenta will not print at all.
I did a head cleaning. I also did a "prime" maintenance function, with the same results. I even unplugged the printer, removed the cartridge, reinstalled it, and there was no change (this was the advice from someone on fixya).
Any ideas from anyone, other than trying a new cartridge?
Thank,
Mike

The quality of reman cartridges varies greatly (see here for a study).  You will likely have much better results using HP cartridges.
It may be possible to recover your cartridge by soaking the printhead nozzles down in 1" of very hot water for about 10 minutes.

  • Desk jet 2540 not printing from iPad

Hi , I've just bought a Desk jet 2540. It was printing from my iPad with no problems this morning but now does not. The iPad can see the printer and the printer is displaying a solid blue light on the wireless button. After printing a test page I can see that the printer is connected to my wifi with and 'excellent' signal quality. Can you help me please?
    Kind regards,
    Lee

    Hello @Lom111,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I understand you are not able to print from your iPad to your HP Deskjet 2540. Your printer is still on the wireless network, but when you attempt to print nothing happens.
I would like you to start troubleshooting here: Printing Over a Wireless Network with Apple's AirPrint FAQs, once on the page please select the 'No AirPrint Printers Found' section.
Let me know the outcome, I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Photosmart D7200 not printing magenta

My Photosmart D7260 is printing poor quality photos.
It printed well the last time I used it, approximately 1 year ago. Today, with new cartidges, it is not printing magenta.
I was able to successfully align the printer using the alignment utility, and all colors are present at the bottom of the alignment page other than one of the magentas (the  colors on the color bar on the test page are, from the left: black-dark blue-no color-yellow-light blue-magenta).
The printer will complete the first 2 printhead cleaning steps with no magenta on the test pages. I get a message each time I attempt to use the third cleaning step stating that it cannot be completed and I should contact HP technical support.
Things I have tried to resolve this: I removed the magenta cartridges from the printer and cleaned the contacts on the cartridge and the printer with a cue tip and water; I unplugged the cord from the printer while it was turned on and waited 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi georgemavroftas,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some printing issues even after installing replacement cartridges.
I do have a few suggestions that we can try in that attempt to resolve this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document that deals with Printed Colors Are Not the Colors Expected and a document on Faded or Dull Colors in Copies.
Please be aware that even though the printers warranty may be expired, the ink cartridges (if not expired) will have a separate warranty status.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • HP Design Jet T1100 not printing correct size

Not sure if this is the right section to post
Ok, we have a HP Design Jet T1100 colour printer in ouir office.
When I click file, print, properties etc and change it to A2 or A1 for example it still prints out on A0.
I've tried calling Helpdesk but I'm normally on the phone to them for a hours explaining the same problem to them over and over again.  The only thing they've done is send a firmware update on a CD which didn't help.

"The HP website mentions a driver for OS 9,"
They also list Mac OS X drivers...updated 7/21/06
"Is there anyone out there who can give me a basic tutorial in what to look for to determine compatibility of the printer with the MacBook"
Just look for Mac OS X drivers

  • HT3500 How do I connect HP3050 desk jet wireless to print from my ipad?

How can I connect my iPad 6 to HP desk jet 3050 a wireless?

Unfortunately this printer doesn't support AirPrint, so you can't print using the official Apple method.
However, you could try an app like PrintCentral, but there's no guarantees this will work.

  • Desk jet f4280 wont print black

printer wont print black ink.  prints color ink fine.  infact, if i have an office doc i just change the text color 2 dark blue, and it is just fine.  color ink indicator is all 4 lights bright green.  black ink indicator is all 4 lights-light green.  (tried a used-up black, and it does not display green lights, -shows a bright orange light instead.)  really need the black ink to work, though, because i cant change the color of something i found on the web.
-i did already submit this question this morning, but i put it under the wrong topic, sorry.

    Hi @ChrissyStar,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Deskjet 1000 will not print using the black ink cartridge, but will with only the color cartridge.
Please take a look through this print quality guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Deskjet 1000, 2000, 3000....
Thank you for posting, and have a good day!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 - specific color not printing (Magenta)

Thanks for the advice!  It didn't fix the problem.  When I print a test page there is no magenta bar.  It says that both printheads are in good health.  Does that mean I still need to replace the Magenta/Cyan printhead?   Thanks in advance!

Hi LonBones, and thanks for the reply.
It is possible you are experiencing a failed printhead.  To best work towards a resolution, I would recommend contacting HP directly.  You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide.

  • All in One HP Office Jet 6600 - not printing

Just installed new ink cartridges, still recieve message "replace cartridges".  Is there any way to "reset" the printer?

    Hello retiredfromwork,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you just replaced new ink cartridges, but it's still stating 'Replace Cartridges". I will do my best to assist you! Please try these steps in order to reset the printer:
    1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall. not a surge protector
    2) Take out all of your ink cartridges, close the door
    3) Remove the power cord at the back of the printer
    4) Try cleaning the copper contacts on the ink cartridge by following this HP document here
    5) Wait 60 seconds or more, then plug it back in
    6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges
Please let me know if you're receiving the same message. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). You can find the DHCP range of the router using its internal settings page or in its manual. Use the CD that came with your router or type the router's IP address (ends in .1) into a browser.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus - Magenta Not Printing

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus (A910), Model number CM756A, Serial number: [Moderator edited Serial Number] that is not printing magenta.
Firmware version: LRP1FN1231AR. Service ID 21057. IK Number 658.
Software version: 028.000.1315.000. Printer Driver version: 09.84.00.1189
The Printhead Status for all cartridges reports as "Good" in the Self Test Diagnostic Page.
I have run a Print Quality Diagnostics and in Test Pattern 2 there is no red/magenta colored block appearing.
I did not have any alert for low print quantity, however I replaced the Magenta inkcartridge with an HP Officejet 940XL new magenta ink cartridge (HP genuine) and still there is no Magenta printing.
When I open the ink cartridge holder, the printer shows HP Model: A910g, HP Ink Cartridge 940.
I have gone through this exercise several times, however the latest Magenta ink cartridge that I removed from the printer prior to replacing had the following information on it:  C4908A, 2016/05/22.  The newest cartridge I put in has a September 2017 expiration date (part number C4908A).
I am not getting any error messages or anything, there is just no Magenta being printed.
First - I would like to know how to fix this issue with the HP printer.
Second - is there anyway to get a refund for the ink cartridges I have had to use (and waste) trying to resolve this problem.
    Thank you.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

  • HP printer (I know) not printing red using OSX 10.8.4

My HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One Printer was finally recognised by my new iMac.
But it is not printing magenta or light magenta at all, although the cartridges are almost new, HP, and recognised in the "Ink delivery system Information" of the Self Test Diagnostic Page as having 71% and 80% ink levels.
Is this likely to be a driver problem? Or two faulty cartridges? Or… one dead printer?

    Thank you for your sympathy.
Well, I happened to have a spare brand new light magenta handy. So I tried that, with no result. So I'm provisionally eliminating the faulty cartridge explanation (although I notice they were all made in the same batch in Ireland).
Then, thinking about the driver: the HP website turns out to be faulty! It took me to a download for C5180 and allowed me to choose my Mac OS, click 'Next' and … nothing. I wasted nearly half an hour trying to find a way round it, but no dice. I left a moan on their contact page, but I'm not holding my breath because in my experience, it *****. (Just saving the moderator a few seconds.)
