Desk Top and Note Book want to share HPOfficejet J4580 via USB HUB

Used to have my old HP6122 connected via an A/B switch (USB); I have a Dell Dimension E520 DeskTop and my wife uses and Inspiron 1505; (both running Windows XP), the hookup with the old HP worked just grea;.my wife and I could share the printer, no problems.
Just installed my new HP J4580 All-in-One; it did not like the A/B switch. Does anyone out there in computer land know of a good "hub/switch" that will work with this device? It is not equipped for wireless. The manual does elude to using a desktop as a server; but that being said, does the server have to be on all of the time? I would prefer some type of Hub/switch. Right now my only option is just to plug the USB cable into which ever computer nees to use the printer. Thanks.

Hello. Just replaced my old printer with a c390a Photosmart Premium and have the same problem - previously used a Belkin USB switch to switch ptr to multiple computers and now have to connect ptr directly to one computer.
I see that no one has replied with a solution (also see others have asked the same question with no replies) - have you found a solution? My PCs are older and do not support wireless networking or have available Ethernet ports - only USB ports are available.

I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3. I believe I have the lastes drivers. I bought the laptop and got the printer free with it in December. I was initially able to print from the laptop but now says there is no connection.

My hard drive icon is gone from desk top and does not show up in spotlight or finder searches!

recently my hard drive icon has disappeared from my Macbook Pro (10.7.4) desk top and does not show up in spotlight or finder searches! I have tried several fixes posted online for earlier operating systems with no luck.
Also, when I connect my external hard drive the icon does not appear on the desl top nor in the finder either, making looking for documents impossible.
Help!!!

In "finder" click "finder" then "preferences" and navigate to the "general" tab.
Select which items you would like to have show on your desktop.

an oh! one more thing, you can change the default folder or create a new one to store all screenshots. Also you can change the file format. Look at the following links

Why? Because of something you are doing wrong - however unless you actually tell us what you are doing - and what version of iPhoto you have - and any other detail that might help no one can even gess.
Exactly how are you exporting? Are the photos successfully exported to the desktop? How are you moving to the CD? why do you think they are not there?

Yes I tried that. I finally turned off all home sharing settings, shut down my desktop and found them in my account settings in the store on the cloud. So at that point I just had it download everything. But I suspect that with the ipad somehow being on, the store was saying I had already received them? If you migrated your MobileMe account to iCloud, on your phone you should be able go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud and enter the Apple ID associated with your iCloud account. iOS does not support multiple users like a desktop OS does.
You can use a web interface to your respective email accounts
to keep things separate; but there is no provision for otherwise
separating photos, media, etc.

Download and run the free application TinkerTool (not "TinkerTool System"), select the Finder tab, and uncheck the box labeled Show hidden and system files. Then click Relaunch Finder.

Resetting of PMU yielded no success.
Here is what I have tried so far.
* First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
