Deskjet 1050 paper jam

Hello hope anyone can help.
My HP 1050 deskjet keeps giving me the same error message that it's got a paper jam. I have repeatedly checked for blockages etc etc but to no avail. Nonetheless the problem remains.
Can you help? - please!

Parkpro,
Here is a document for a paper jam message for your printer. I don't know if you have tried all the steps listed here but if not hopefully this will help you. Let us know if you still have this problem after you try all these steps.

  • HP Deskjet 1460 paper jam

After finally solving my ink cartridge issues, I constantly get a paper jam issue.
I've seen the videos for the 1660 which is very similar to mine, but nothing seemed to solve it and the video suggest it should be serviced, but I'm sure it's out of warranty.
The printer just takes the piece of paper and it gets stuck in the middle of the piece of it and gives the paper alarm, when I press the button it just takes the paper and it gets stuck in the same place again.
I've done everything that I saw in the video, I checked thoroughly for pieces of paper that might have produces the jam, I cleaned everything like video said... Nothing helped.

    HI Tanukitsune,
I'm not sure about the video you seen for the 1660 but here is a support document with a video for your 1460. See if you can go thru the steps in the document and see if you are still having the same problem.
Let us know if you are still having the same problem.
You may also want to check to see if your product is in warranty.

  • HP Deskjet 6980: Paper jam cleared but machine disagrees.

I had my first paper-jam on my 6980 yesterday. I quickly removed the offending piece of paper (an envelope) and pressed the "resume" button. After the carriage slid back and forth, the light resumed its flashing. I have also tried switching off the machine - no good - and also removing the power supply - again no joy.
In older machines, including HP, a simple removal and replacement of the paper tray would have fixed the problem. Unfortunately, the paper tray on this machine seems to be an integral part of the printer and not easily removed.
As this is the first jam and it has failed to function correctly, I wonder if there's a design problem, particularly as I see similar failures have occurred on other HP printers.
Anyone any ideas as to what I can try next? Some thirty years ago, when I had a problem with a piece of IBM equipment I tried dropping it. This didn't work so I contacted the IBM engineer who, when I said what I'd done, said I hadn't dropped it from a great enough height. I took his advice and the problem was fixed. I'm a bit wary of trying the same cure here!

If you are receiving a "Top Cover open" error message,go to "Top Cover Open Message displays on Computer" document 01065334. Remove right side end cover as described, pop it up from the bottom. You will see a tiny plastic piece that is supposed to ride up over the geared cam. It may not be sliding up over the cam....and you will have to lift it up manually. I did and now the printer works.

  • Deskjet 3650 Paper Jam or Out of Paper error messages but neither is the case

I've tried printing from both a computer running Windows 7 and an old computer running XP, but neither seems to work.  Less than 24 hours ago, I printed from the XP just fine.  Now when I try to print from either computer, I either get a Paper Jam or Out of Paper error message.  So far I've tried:
    - Cleaning the rollers and letting them dry
    - Reinstalling printer drivers
    - Resetting printer
    - Restarting Printer Spooler in Windows
    - Checking for Paper Jam
    - Inserting new ink cartridges
    - Ensured that in printer settings, paper type is set to normal paper
    - Probably a few other things, but at this point I'm a bit frustrated, so I've probably forgotten exactly what
Each time I try to print, the printer fires up, the cartridges move back and forth, the rollers try to pick up the paper, but nothing happens and I get an error message.  I can move the rollers manually, so they're not stuck.
    Any other kind of advice?

    Hi...

  • Paper jam all-in-one deskjet BUFFO

I am a real newbie - have never done this before - can someone tell me how they fixed what seems to be a common problem?
I have a HP All-in-One deskjet F4440 - it will not print anything on the first and sometimes second paper.  It just quietly pulls them through and puts them out blank.  Then the next paper gets stuck halfway as it is being pulled through and stops.  I have to pull it firmly and gently out towards me to release it.  I have new cartridges in the the machine.  It worked just fine for a few years and now this!!  It also makes some "noise" that it never made before - like a clanking when the cartridge carriage moves bak and forth.  Your help will certainly be appreciated.  Thanks  Ardna Fox

HELP, I need an answer as to how to get the small piece of paper out of my hp deskjet 4280!!I A few days ago, a piece of paper - about a square inch- was torn off and remains in the printer.
When <i try to print a page, a paper jam occurs.  I can hear a funny noise and when I pull the jammed paper out, the front of the paper is crushed & bent where it had jammed.. The printer is only a few months old.
Please give me your solution to this problem. Thanks.

Hi - Try following the steps in this document, in the "Experiencing frequent or recurring paper jams" section.  In many cases, cleaning the rollers will take care of the problem.  If following the steps in the doc don't resolve the issue, follow this link to get numbers for support.

  • Fixing a Paper Jam - HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer

Paper jams occur a lot. Rollers can get dusty and form the paper to crumble. Pages move too quickly and cause a "paper jam".
Using the wrong paper could be an issue. A sensor in the printer can go bad, and make the error occur.
I have a link that will send provide a video that can help jams and paper getting caught up inside the printer.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suiQgoH-8cM
Below is an attachment of some steps, just in case the video isn't enough information.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02130018&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc...
Paper jam can also cause your carriage to get stuck and will not move over to change the print cartridges out.

  • Non-existent paper jam, HP Deskjet 3050

I have a message saying there is a paper jam, but there is no paper jam. Short of taking a screwdriver to the printer, I can't seem to fix it. I have re-booted the printer. I have pulled the power cord. There is NO paper in the feed, but it keeps saying there is a paper jam. Please help.

these printers are crap, they work great for about 2 months, then you get the paper jam error, they steps they give you wont fix it and are just a waste of your time, take it back to the store and try to get them to let you excahnge it for another brand, I got a Kodak this time and it works great, it is kind of slow about pinting, but otherwise no problems, I had 3 hp's and they all gave the false paperjam error,  I got tired of going back to the store to exchange it every 2 months

Printers usually have different paper pick torque levels depending on the paper type it is trying to print on. Check the print properties to make sure that the paper type chosen is the correct one for the type you are printing on. As a test, load some plain paper in the input tray, open a MS Document, click print, click print properties, go to the Features tab, change the paper type to plain and then press Apply. Print out the document and hopefully this time it does not jam.

  • Hp INkjet 3545 paper jam and improper shutdown messages

I bought and new packed piece of Inkjet 3545 all in one printer about 2 days back. After installation of the cartridges, black and tri color, and closing the top lib, the printer has been persistent with a paper jam message. The display tells me that there is a jam, but i have checked very tohoroughly everywhere. not a piece of a paper. The printer was box packed when i received and it has been in this adamant loop ever since.
Also along with this paper jam issue, the printer always tells me that last shutdown  was "an improper shutdown". I have tried with the shutdown button and with a reset to factory settings also. Nothign seems to work. Can someone help me with this. I checked the  discussion board ad many folks have similar issues. But none of the suggestions seem to work for me.

    Hello @nazgul,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your Deskjet 3545 prompting with a paper jam message. I will do my best to assist you! Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. I just want to see if this makes a difference.
Follow this entire HP document on A 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel. Please double check to make sure there is no paper within this printer.
If your printer is stating "Improperly shutdown", this is fine. It just means you unplugged the printer in a different way. Please try this reset on your printer. Leave the printer turned on>Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer for more than 60 seconds. Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!

  • Deskjet 9880D - Carriage Jam

Hi, I'm unable to clear a carriage jam on my Deskjet 9880D printer.  Power on light and Resume lights flashing.  Printer is clear of any paper jam, have dis and reconnected the printer via the USB.  Completed a full shut down of my PC and reinstalled the driver from the original disc.  HELP!  Anyone any suggestions?

    Hi Randy3924 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with removing the ink cartridges again due to a Carriage Jam error message on the printer.
Try the following link that deals with A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays for HP Officejet 4400 (K410), Deskjet Ink Advantage (K209), and D....
If this does not resolve the issue because you are still not able to move the carriage, I suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • Printing pictures on deskjet 1050

When I print picture at a 4x6 picture paper size it will print a gap in the edge of the paper, when I change the setting to fit the page it still prints that gap. I have tried changing the printer setting to the size of paper but there is no change, what can I change to in order to get the printer to fit the whole page of the 4x6 picture paper

    Hello stwebster,
I am sorry to have to tell you this but the Deskjet 1050 does not have bordeless printing capabilities, as it does not have a starwheel assembly. This piece of equipement is needed to transport the paper when printing bordeless. As your printer does not have the piece it needs to have a border on the picture to hold on to the paper. If you really need an HP printer that does support bordeless printer make sure it has Photosmart in the name, as these units are meant to print photo's and most of them will print borderless. To make sure always check the specification of the unit.

  • How to print custom invitation size on Deskjet 1050 J410?

I have a HP Deskjet 1050 J410. I am trying to print invitations on 5.5x7.5 cardstock. I went to change the paper size and I don't have that option for my size paper. Is there a way for me to input the size or maybe update my printer?

Please read this post then provide some details.   What operating system? What program are you printing from?
It does not appear that the J410 allows custom paper size, at least in the Windows 7 version, but O**bleep**u hagaki is 7.87" x 5.83" which may be close enough.  I would suggest using plain paper cut to your size for test pieces, fiddle a bit with the right/left and top/bottom margins to get the desired results.  [OK, the naughty word filter does not like the name, but pick the one as shown in the picture below :-)]
