Deskjet 3050 J610a Wireless issues

I'm trying to set up my Deskjet 3050 J610a to use over my wireless network, the printer sets it self up on the network and connects fine to the router, but is unavailable when i use the wireless network setup tool.
Router:   Linksys Wag160n
Auth: WPA-PSK   AEK or TKIP
Signal Quality is Max
IP assigned to Printer 192.168.1.111 Per my DHCP
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
latest drivers & network diag tools etc
The Printer Network Config page reports all is fine
I can see the printer connected to my router but can't access it via any of the HP software.
McAfee Security Centre (AV&Firewall) were on during Printer install but I've tried disabling them but still no luck.
Any Help??

  • Deskjet 3050 J610a - Unexpected wireless connection problem.

    Running:
    MacOSX 10.7.4
    HP Software: HP_Lion_Ink_SW_v12.13.17
Printer: Deskjet 3050 J610a had been working perfectly through wireless connection from a
MacBook5,1 Intel Core 2 Duo, while I had been using HP Software HP_Installer_DJF4100_v9.7.1, that was *not* meant for this printer, but I could 'ADD" the printer Deskjet 3050 via System Preferences, through HP Socket,
Looking [unwisely] for a more "functional"  configuration, I looked up HP support and found that a specific software had been released for computers running "Lion".
So I uninstalled the previous DJF4100 software, restarted the computer, and installed the new software and drivers for Lion as indicated above.
Now the printer Deskjet 3050 J610a shows up in the computer's network under 'Devices"  as
"HPJ610a.047DED", Network Type:Computer-to-Computer. It is also detected with "
Security:None", whereas my whole home Wi-Fi network is encrypted with WPA/WPA2 Personal.
I could of course regress to the previous software and configuration, but before doing that I would like to understand why this new software that has been released by HP for Mac computers running Lion is behaving in such a way, why the printer shows as a stand alone device (which it never did before).
As I said, before I regress to the previous configuration, using a software that originally is not the one required by the printer, neither by the computer's operating system, I welcome all information and suggestions.
    I need that wireless connection!
    Thanks in advance.

my deskjet 3050 j610a isn't connecting to the network in my house.  I've tried about everything and it still not connecting.  It's a wireless printer and it's not connecting to either my desktop or my laptop.  what do I do now?

  • Deskjet 3050 j610a - New router; no longer can print wireless.

Hi all. Am 66 & new to computers and forums. I'll try to be brief, but I want to describe my problem as accurately as possible. I have a Toshiba C655 Satellite laptop, HP3050 j610a wireless printer, Windows 7 – 32bit OS and Google Chrome is my browser. For the past 2 years I've had no problem printing wireless with my Westell 7500 router. Then my ISP (Verizon) gave me a D-Link 2750B. My laptop connects with the internet over my wireless network fine now, but printing is only possible via USB.
The error message reads: “Your printer failed to join the wireless network – Mac address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router”. (I checked & it is not). I then printed a Wireless Network Test Report and the header reads: “Your HP printer cannot find your access point. Check that your access point is powered on. Check that your HP printer network name (SSID) matches your access point network name (SSID) exactly. If they don't match exactly, run the wireless network setup to configure your HP printer”. In addition, under Diagnostics Summary it reads: “Network Name (SSID) Found = FAIL”.
What I've attempted so far: Uninstall & reinstall all HP software (Via hp website), power cycle router & printer, hard reset printer to factory settings, looked inside router & all seems OK. I did a Google search of this problem and got more confusing and complicated explanations than I was looking for...all the way down to subnet masks; whatever that is. I'm at the point now (and please correct me if I'm on the wrong path) I feel I should be trying to manually put the network info into the printer or obtain a printer IP; neither of which I know how to do.  Is there a way to look inside my printer settings the same as I look inside my router settings...and how?
I feel this has gotten way more complicated than necessary and I am probably overlooking the obvious here. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, but please reply to me as if I were in the 3rd grade ! (Although a 3rd grader would probably have figured this out already) !
    Thanks,
    Larry

OK,PrintDoc, I followed your instructions to the letter....although I had gone there many times before.  If you want, I can list each and every step, but to summarize:  Message says, 'software installed successfully", I allowed Network Setup to retrieve my wireless settings (by the way my security is WPA2[AES] ) then the green 'loading' bar for 'setting up printer on network'.
THIS is the where I get to the point at which I get the error message:  "Your printer failed to join the wireless network".  (Tried both letting the program retrieve the settings, as well as entering them manually).
I did, however, notice one thing different this time:  Where the icon of my laptop showed under devices, this time there was an '!' enclosed in a triangle, indicating some problem.  I opened it up and ran the Troubleshooter, and received the following messages:  "Device driver software was not successfully installed, *No driver found, Problem not fixed".  I remember seeing this once before in my numerous attempts to get my printer on the network.
However, a previous message said the software WAS, in fact, installed successfully....and when I took a look at my installed programs, it sure looked like it was.
Once again, a big 'thank you'.

  • Deskjet 3050 J610 Wireless Setup Problem - Thinks I'm using MAC filtering

I just got an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 from my parents, who have never used it.  The ink cartridges were still in their wrappers.  Trying to set it up tonight, and everything was going well until I tried connecting it to the wireless network.
My router does not have WPS, so I'm having to do this via USB.  The software is able to detect my router's SSID, encryption type, and password.  However, when trying to connect the printer to the router, it fails.  The Wireless Network Test Report claims that it might be because of MAC address filtering.  I double checked my router settings, and I am NOT using MAC filtering at all.  I have not yet tried rebooting everything (Printer, laptop, router), but I am doubtful that will resolve the issue.  For security reasons, I would prefer not to say what security I'm using, but I will say that it IS supported by the printer.
I'm using Windows 7 on an Asus laptop, and my ISP is Verizon Fios.

Hi Manjunath, I spent the last hour on that site.  Everything I found was about how to add the printer's MAC address to the router's filter settings.  But I repeat, I am NOT using MAC filtering on my router, but the printer thinks I am.
    Or rather... THOUGHT I was.
Rebooting the printer and the router helped.  Of course, I did both at the same time, so I'm not sure which one was required, or both, but the long and the short of it is, it works now.

  • HP Deskjet 3050 J610a - static IP address

How can I assign a static IP address to the above printer? There is no option on the printer control panel to do this as far as I can see. It seems the only possibility is to allow the printer to grab whatever IP address it believes is appropriate - usually a DHCP one. In my case this is inappropriate since I want to assign a specific fixed IP address.

Well after two automated responses telling me what I already knew and failing to answer any of the questions I was starting to lose my patience.
I asked that they change their web site which clearly states that the Deskjet 3050 is supported, apparently only the 3050e is supported. So say 3050e then not 3050!!!
This is the response I eventually received:

4 months without a printer and i am supposed to be running a small business, please help.
Change of internet provider & i can no longer print using usb or wireless.
Print report states network offline; no activity connection, url 0.0.0.0; admin password not set.
I have run diagnosis and fixing tests.
I have tried pressing the push button on printer whilst pressing the WPS on modem.
I am unable to add modem via Control Panel having put my phone code in.
I have the HPSoftware on the cd but my CD\DVD external drive is not compatible with this pc/tablet.
I can't download the software as it states it is not compatible with windows surface RT
I have tried everything with and without the usb lead
I may have uninstalled software so i checked to see list of installed programs and apparently i don't have any programmes installed on this pc (surely not)!
I have been trying to find where i can change/add connectivity settings to maybe enter the PIN number of the printer but am unable to find how.

I checked the HP web site here. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Deskjet-3050-All-in-One-Printer-series---J610/4066450/model/4... And indeed I find no drivers for Windows Surface RT. You will have to connect up a 'regular' windows computer to print.

  • Deskjet 3050 no longer printing wireless or wired

I have an HP Envy widows 8. and deskjet 3050 J610a and it no longer prints.  I keep getting an error message :"Unable to Communicate with Printer".  it worked just great a couple days ago and nothing has changed since then other than it stopped printing.  Can i talk with an HP  customer support person somehow?

    Hi nikki879,
Here is a way you can connect the printer to your router:
-Restore network defaults inside the wireless menu on the printer front panel.
-From your computer, connect wireless to the printer's network (it should be a name similar to HP-Setup-xx-Deskjet 3050A J611).
-After successfully connecting to the printer, open your web browser and type in 192.168.223.1 in the addressbar and press enter.
    -Click on Wireless Setup Wizard
-Select your router and enter the password to connect the printer to the router.
Rerun the printer software from your computer to rediscover the printer over the network.

  • Deskjet 3050 wireless connection trauma

Hi, my Deskjet 3050 has stopped working over the wireless network and I'm stumped. It was working fine, but has now stopped. My laptop is connected to the home router (BT) and the printer is also connected to the same router (according to the router config page), but I can't connect to print. I've gone back to the beginning and re-installed the printer and all drivers and software, I can print with a USB, I can transfer wireless config details via USB, but I still can't print wirelessly. Help?

    Hi PG-PG,
I understand that you are having a problem with getting the printer working on your wireless network. I will try my best to help you resolve this. I suggest power cycling your network.
    How to power cycle network
Follow these steps to reset your HP printer, your wireless router, and your computer.
1.Press the Power button on the HP printer to turn it off.
2.Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the HP printer.
3.Disconnect the power cord from the wireless router.
    4.Turn off the computer.
    5.Wait 30 seconds.
6.Reconnect the power cord to the wireless router.
7.Wait 30 seconds, or until the router is fully on and ready.
    8.Turn the computer back on.
9.Wait for the computer to reload.
10.Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the HP printer.
    11.Turn the printer back on.
If this does not resolve the issue then I suggest setting a Static IP Address. In this document for Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection has steps for setting that up.
I hope this information helps, please let me know how it goes.
    Thank you,

  • How come my Deskjet 3050 wont print wirelessly?

    Alright so here's the problem.
First of all I just bought a Deskjet 3050 All-In-One J610 Series printer on ebay. It came today and I tried to set it up wirelessly and through the USB. It works fine with the the laptop (we use it as a home computer) its a Windows Vista 64-bit.
Now everytime when the printer is not connected to our router, it shows up on the little connect to wireless networks on this computer, my netbook, and my Ipod Touch. But whenever i connect it to the router via WPS and via PIN number, it doesnt show it up on anywhere. I tried to do the setup on screen instructions CD but it says that it is connected but its not showing up or something and it says that I have to connect with the printer's IP address. And it said something about a warning saying that if you connect it like this, then if the ip address changes i would have to do a bunch of crap that i dont feel like doing.
Is there any possible way that i can fix this???? i would love to print stuff from my netbook.

    Hello lake5pilot
If you have not already please try the following article. It should help with the issue. Especially the part in the guide where you set a static IP on the printer. Even upon reconnecting it should stay the same. I hope it works well for you.

  • HP Deskjet 3050 - Unable to connect to WPA secured wireless network

    Hello,
My first post here so please excuse any faux pas on my part.  I bought this HP Deskjet 3050 a week ago and have been waging war with it ever since.  I'd be really grateful if someone could possibly advise on how I can resolve this.
I am unable to connect the printer to my secured wireless network, even though other computers, cell phones, etc. are connected without issue.  I have tried WPA, WPA2 and WPA2-Mixed security modes with the same failure. Specifically, the connection wizard reaches 66% and then displays the error that the wizard is unable to find network/printer.  If I disable the security, the printer connects fine.
I'm using a Linksys WRVS4400N router with firewall and associated firewall settings disabled.  The router is broadcasting on 802.11G/N mixed mode.
I'm installing the software supplied on the setup CD on a Windows XP SP3 system.  I have confirmed that the network the PC and printer are connected to are the same.
A question as well, if I may:  I haven't tried these drivers yet but I see there are updated drivers for the printer dated 14/12/2010.  The release notes indicate improved networking, but don't elaborate beyond this.  Does anyone know if there was a known problem with connecting to secured networks that has now been fixed?
Finally, just a note that I'm partially sighted and am using a screen reader on all systems.  I'll try my best to be as helpful as I can but please do excuse me if I occasionally can't find settings, etc. on screen and need a bit more detailed help.
Thanks in advance for your help, which I really will appreciated.
    Have a pleasant day,
All the best for now and take care,
    Hussein.

    HI,
firstly, apologies for the delay getting back to you.  Poor health has meant I've had little time nor inclination to do much on the computer side of htings.
Anyway, I'm please to say the problem with the HP 3050 failing to connect to my network is now solved.  It seems to be a bug with the setup software, and that seems to include the latest version posted Dec 2010.
To resolve the problem, I did the following:
    1. Disable all security options for the network, so it's just an open network.
    2. Connect the HP 3050 to the network using the setup wizard. This time it connected OK for me.
    3. Locate the printer's IP address.  I used the client list table accessed through my router's interface. You may be able to get this through the printer's on-screen menu, but as I'm partially sighted, this wasn't an option for me.
    4. Log into the printer's control panel at http://ip.address.of.printer e.g. http://192.168.2.108
    5. Under the advanced options, configure the settings for the network, including security protocol and passphrase.  Remember to enter the SSID of the network exactly as configured on the router.
    6. Apply the settings and log out of the printer's control panel.
    7. Log back into the router's control panel and re-apply the security options.  Be sure that they match those match those entered for the printer.
Hopefully this will be of use to others in the same position.
    Thanks again for your time.
    Best,
    H.

Hi, Hope someone can help ASAP please!!!!!! Have a Deskjet 3050 wireless printer, which i have tried all ways of installing, but cant get it to print wireless. I have a Compaq laptop with wireless, Belgin Wireless router, I can see the network on the laptop, no probs and thats how i connect to internet. When i go through the wireless menu on the printer itself it shows up as connected to my network with excellent signal strength, and I can print out the reports showing all is well that end.

I can print when connected through USB

  • Deskjet 3050 wireless works then doesn't

My Deskjet 3050 wireless problem cycle  includes 1) light blinking 2) after I re-set up the wireless...it works 3) day later, when I try to print HP message says unable to communicate w/ printer BUT wireless light is SOLID and Network Config page show it is properly connected via ip address is connected via ip address. Even though properly connected, the 2nd page of the network config printout shows it doesn't discover my current wireless network.
I've tried to re-set up wireless printing (HP printer set-up utility that came with the software) and the network diagnostic utility, but this cycle always repeats itself.
Maybe a router problem. I'm on win 7 and using a cisco E2000 router.
    Can anyone assist?
    Thanks

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). Yours is 192.168.1.100 to .149.  Let's use 192.168.1.200 for your printer.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
