Deskjet 3400C on a mac

Hey!
I've just bought me a mac, happy
But is it possible to add the deskjet 3400c on it? I've tried to connect it but it doesn'n seam to recognise the scanner. Do I have to download drivers of something for it? My printer of HP does work properly!
Thanks!

Hi there,
Looking at the HP web site, there is no Mac driver listed for the ScanJet 3400c, only Windows drivers. So you may be out of luck, unless someone is aware of a workaround...

Gary. Having the same problem. Printer would work on 10.6 but only print black and white. In system preferences / print-fax changed the driver for the printer to HP deskjet 5400 series. It seems to work OK. Been printing from office files, preview and photoshop all OK for now. Hope this helps

    HI careina
I understand you need the drivers for your 10.8. The drivers installed now aren't allowing you to print in color.
I have included a url for the drivers from HP.com. They support 10.8.

  • There is a problem with my deskjet 1050 j410a on mac os 10.6.

The printer becomes non-responsive after being idle for a few hours. Every time this happens i have to do a power reboot on the printer for it to become reconnected and then everything would be working fine. But it's very annoying that every time when I need to print or scan I have to reboot again. I'm sure it's not designed this way. Please let me know if there is any way to resolve this problem. Thanks.

    Hi,
Please ensure the USB cable is not longer than 2-3m lengh.
Make sure not to use any USB hub or extention as it will reduce the power used by the device.
If you have an iMac make sure the USB connected to the back of the MAc and not into the Apple keyboard port which is not powered.
Make sure ot update the latest drivers by clicking the Apple icon and then Software Update. Install any listed HP Update and check if that may help.
If there is no change, try switching to a different USB port and follow for any difference.
As well I would suggest you trying a different USB.
If any of the steps above does not help, please let me know what application you are using to scan and try any alternative application (e.g. HP Scan 3, Image Capture, etc.)
    Regards,
    Shlomi

  • Issues with WiFi connection to Deskjet 3545

    Hi,
I have number of issues with WiFi connection to my new Deskjet 3545 AIO:
    1. Printer is not able to get IP address automatically from home WiFi router (all other devices get IP with no problem). Using WPS allow printer to register in network but after switching off, WPS setting is not stored, so I have to do it again. This I was able to solve with manual entering of IP address, netwrok mask, DNS and gateway address.
    2. Official HP software installed from HP site was able to find printer for 3dattempt, and it started to work. But after a while, "HP utility" program loose connection to printer,  so I can not see any parameters, and I get "can not find printerä message when start to to print. After a some time (minutes to hours), whithout any action from my side, connection to printer seems to be restored, so I can see printer parameters in "HP utility" and printing is started.
    3.  Official HP software installed from HP site on PC (Windows 7) is not able to find printer on WiFi at all, works only with USB.
All this is disaponinting and unexpected, as my office HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color works perfect.

    Hi @DmiBro,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are having some wireless issues with your HP Deskjet 3545 to your Mac OS X 10.10 and Windows 7 computers. I am sorry to hear this, but I am happy to help!
I would recommend the following guides:

Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal.
Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router.
If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.
Remove any metal objects between the printer, the computer, and the router. Objects such as refrigerators, microwaves, or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.
Move any device that emits radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. Such devices can interfere with wireless signals.
I would also recommend this website, HP Wireless Printing Center - Troubleshooting Issues.
Hope this information is helpful, and have a nice day!

  • HP F4480 not printing with Mac (OS 10.9 / Mavericks)

I've followd the instructions for setting up the driver on my Mac and it shows up when I try to print something but nothing prints when I click print and nothing is showing up in the queue.
Has anyone else had this issue / know how to fix it?

    Hi melaniehuynh,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I see you tried adding your HP Deskjet F4480 to your Mac running the Mavericks 10.9.4 Operating system, when you try to print nothing happens it does not go into the print queue.
Because you are using the Mavericks OS X you must install the printer using the Apple Updates. Please click on the link below, this document explains how to install the print driver on a Mac for a USB or a network connection. The OS X v10.9 Mavericks driver for your printer is available through Apple Software Update (ASU). Additionally, you can perform basic print jobs using AirPrint without installing a driver.
OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac
I want you to check out the FAQs at the bottom of the above document, make sure you installed correctly.
Once you have installed the DJ F4480, you may notice the features you once had are limited or there are workarounds, for scanning with or without HP Software see below:
How to Scan: OS X v10.9
    I hope this helps!

  • Cannot add HP deskjet F4180 on OS X Mavericks

My Mavericks is updated, but I cannot print any longer on my HP deskjet F4180. I cannot add the printer in the system & preference menu (the menu is empty, except for Adobe PDF 8.0). Please help, I need to print - that is why I have a HP printer after all.

    Hello Jeroenishetbeu,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to install your HP Deskjet F4180 to your Mac running the new Mavericks 10.9 Operating system. The reason you are running into some issues, is because there was no full feature software and drivers made available for the older model Deskjet. With that being said it does not mean you cannot use the printer, it just means there may now be a different way to do things.
To get a better understanding take a look here: OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac, here you will be walked through adding the printer using the Apple Updates.
Scanning will be a little different as well: How to Scan: OS X v10.9
I hope this helps, be sure to check out the FAQ's in the first recommendation.
    Thanks,

    Welcome to the community @Teekayk
I understand you are trying to install your Deskjet 3055A on your Mac, running Mavericks. The installation CD may be compatible up to 10.6, and that could be why you are seeing the error message.
This link should help you. It will show you how to install the printer on your Mac. There is no full driver and software available for the Deskjet 3055A on Mavericks, which basically means you will need to review your other options to scan on your Mac through Apple Updates, which is all included in the guide.

  • HP Deskjet 722c for Macbook

    Hi
I recently bought my Macbook last month (yes, I know I'm a loser for not waiting, but it was urgent because I exchanged it from a crappy HP and just said the **** with it, I'm going Apple). Back to the point. I have a HP Deskjet 722C, but my Mac can't detect it over the network because I think I'm missing the HP Deskjet 722C driver. Doesn't it suppose to be included with MacOS X 10.4.10?
I can only find a PPC version but my Macbook is obviously an Intel machine and not a PPC based.
    Please help.

Thanks, but the problem was that this printer model is nearly 10 years old and still used the parallel port. That's why it must be networked as Macs don't support parallel ports (I don't blame them, parallel ports are very outdated). HP didn't help because it's no longer supported by their tech team. So, only if you knew Linux or UNIX well, you can fix this type of problem.
Actually, USB printers are easier to configure because they are newer and their drivers are in abundance in the UNIX world (I would like to remind people, MacOS X is a variant of UNIX).
