Deskjet 3510 printer will not print

I moved to a new house and when I hooked my printer back up it won't print.  It acts like it is printing when I tell it to print but no ink goes on the paper. In other words it feeds the paper though and makes the sound like it's printing but it doesn't put ink on the page. I have, however, been able to get it to put ink on the page when I printed a test page and an alignment page. That makes me think that it isn't out of ink, but maybe that is the issue. I am going to buy a new cartiridge but I am wondering if it could be something else.

Hi teach, I seen you have been having an issue with your 3510 not aligning properly and the pages printing out blank. I would recommend you follow this document step by step I will post a link to. You have already replaced the ink cartridges, so you will not need to replace them again unless they are low on ink. Before following these troubleshooting steps, ensure you have the printer plugged directly to a wall outlet.

  • HP Deskjet 3510 black in not printing

Hi everyone!  My son was given this printer (new) from his cyber school.  We set it up (it came with the HP ink already) and it doesn't print in black ink.  Actually, when I first tried to print something it came out what I'm guessing is grayscale. So I went into advanced properties and put in black ink only.  I didn't see a color option?
Okay so I put it on that and try to print and it doesn't print at all.  Suggestions?

Hello Dragonomine! Welcome to the forums
I read your post about how your sons new Deskjet 3015 will not print in black ink. I will certainly give you my best suggestions for this issue!
I would suggest that you try all of the steps listed in this recommend guide for the problem you're having with the black not printing:
Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems
If you have tried all of the steps and the black ink is still not printing, contact HP directly for your next option with them. They may see fit a replacement unit.

  • HT1444 I just bought an HP deskjet 3510 printer. I have a MAC OX X 10.5.8. I can't install it unless it is version 6. Any suggestions as to what I can do?

I just bought an HP deskjet 3510 printr and I can't install it.  It tells me I have to have MAC OX S version 6.  How can I upgrade to this version?

Found a way to utilize the HP Deskjet 3510 with the MacBook OSX 10.5.8!
As you may know, there is NO existing HP printer driver useable between this printer and the OSX10.5.8 (you need OSX 10.6 or higher)  However, it IS possible to use the printer and even print from it - however, it is a bit complicated.  Read the PROS vs. CONS and see if you want to proceed OR...if you can, return it and get your money back.  Unfortunately for me I didn't have this option - if I returned it, I will lose 55% of what I paid for return shipping and restocking! .
PROS: You can print documents, photos, files, etc.
CONS: You can't print it directly as you would a normal printer. It will not work either with USB or via wireless. It must be sent as a document via e-mail (more explained later!)
PROS: Copy/Scan-To-Print function works without needing a driver installed.
CONS: Scan-To-Computer function will not work because there is no driver compatible.
PROS: Documents sent to you via email (on a personalized HP email address) will be printed out automatically when received.  You don't even have to be there to receive the email!
CONS:  It WILL print automatically.  You can turn off this function but you will have to remember to turn it on everytime you need to print.
OKAY.  Here it goes.  This model of HP Printer (Deskjet 3510) has a function called ePrint (you can find more info at http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/eprint/). Basically it is a wireless function on the printer that as long as you have Wifi at your home or business, you can connect this printer virtually.  This ePrint works with any computing devises, including MacBooks, Mac Desktops, iPhone, iPad, and iPad Mini - it will NOT work with iPods or any devise that does not have internet/wifi capability.
This is what you need to do: Set up the Deskjet 3510 as if you would any other printer. That means, remove it from the box, unpack it, plug it in, follow instructions on the mini-screen (for date, language, etc), install cartridge, print test sheets, scan test sheet, etc.  Make sure that the machine actually works!
Then comes the tricky part:  You will notice three buttons on the bottom.  Left one is the Power Button.  Right side has two buttons: first is the Wifi button, second is the ePrint button.  Before ePrint can be set up, you need to set up the printer for Wifi.
CLICK on the Wifi Button (a flashing blue light) and look on the bottm left.  There is a menu section with 'Settings" - CLICK the button left of that menu (above the power button) you will see the wireless menu.  Make sure the Wireless is "On" and Wireless Direct also "On".  Use the arrows on the right of the screen to go up and down the menu, "OK" button to select it.
At that same menu, scroll down to "Print Report" and click "OK".  Select the second option "Configuration Page" and print out the page.  If everything went smoothly with the Wifi connection, you will be able to see information.  Look for the URL(s) for Embedded Web Server on the page, either on the top by the General Information or under Wireless Direct.  You need the Server address for the next step.  Mine looked like this:
http://192.168.223.1  (last four digits of yours may differ)
Go up to your Airport Wifi menu and look for something like "HP-Print-44-Deskjet 3510 series".  Select that from the Wifi menu (from this point, you will NOT be on the internet).  Once you see the Wifi signal pop in, on the address bar of your web browser, type in your Server address in the address bar (http://192.168....).
Then you will see a web page of inner workings of your computer.  It's quite amazing actually!
Look for a section that shows Wireless Setup Wizard and follow to make sure you're set up to your network and connected to the internet.  Choose your wireless network name, put the password in. It should connect to your network.  Do the same for the ePrint section.
Switch back to your Wifi network (via Airport so you would have internet access), go to https://h30495.www3.hp.com/c/46324/US/en/ to set up your printer with HP for ePrint.  This is where you get that private email address at HP (you can personalize it as well) so that any device that can email you can send documents, photos and files to be printed directly.
SO the trick to printing with a MacBook OSX 10.5.8 with the HP Deskjet 3510 is this: Once you set up your private email address (let's say it's [email protected]) you can send attachments via email as if you were writing yourself (both the email AND the attachment will print!) or when you are about to print a file or a photo, select from the Print menu, the PDF section where you have an option to Mail PDF.  It will connect with Mail Program, send it to [email protected] (or whatever your private email name is : **********@hpeprint.com) and it will print the file without printing an email header.
PRINTING NOTE: If you are printing a photo, you can set your presets to Photo print so that it will come out nice.  If you happened to be by your computer during the printout, you can install the photo paper (flush it to the right side) or else it will just print on normal paper.
NOTE:If at any step the printer won't recognize the Wifi connection or ePrint, turn off the printer, count 30 seconds and restart it.  Mine worked fine after that!
Whew~! Hope this was clear and was helpful!  Best wishes!

  • HP DeskJet 3510 Printer Alignment Page Doesn't print correctly.

Hi I have a strange problem with my HP DeskJet 3510. I took it out of the box installed everything loaded up paper and powered it on. It went through all the motions and blah blah and printed out an alignment page. Anyhow it didn't look right to me but I went ahead and scanned it anyway and it then said "ink cartidges are set to default color quality" or something to the effect. I hit ok and it went to the main menu.
Now from my wifes phone I can connect to the printer and print just fine but from our laptop the alignment is all jacked up. If I type a bunch of random lines into notepad or anything really it misses a bunch of lines and some lines just don't even appear. Which I could only think would be because the alignment page isn't right.
Also from app that gets installed from the software CD on the laptop I can choose to align the cartridges but when I do and it prints and I scan the page (that still looks jacked up to me) the software tells me the alignment failed and asks me to rescan after I put the page in there right. I know the page is in there right its face down and in the bottom right hand corner as it should be.
Now I have ran the cartdridge cleaning process several times took the cartridges out and looked for debris or anything that could be in the way even though I doubt its any of those things becuase like I had said earlier it prings perfectly from my wifes printershare app from her smart phone. Just as it appears on her screen. Only getting this issue from the PC.
Anyhow I am going to attach a photo of how the priner aligment page comes out from me doing it on the printers control panel and from the PC's software both it comes out looking like this. If you could please give me some advice to what to do next that would be great as I am out of ideas. Did I just get a bad cartridge? If so why would it print from my wifes phone fine and not from the PC? Is this how the alignment page should look (can't read any of the things on the lower portion really).
Other Info : PC is running Windows . Other PC has same problem running Windows XP. Wifes Phone is using PrinterShare app. Any information or helpful advice is appreciated thank you guys in advance.

Finally, after installing and uninstalling the print cartridges on my HP-3510 around 10 times; I finally got the alignment page to print and then scan successfully. It's a nice, very economical printer when it works properly. I was on the verge of tossing it but glad I didn't. I guess the lesson is that persistence can pay off. My thanks to the other two contributing posters.

  • My Deskjet 3050 J610 will not connect to my Virgin WiFi router for use with Apple Mac laptop.

I live in the UK and have Broadband access via a Virgin connection and WiFi router. My Apple MacBook laptop connects to the WiFi with no difficulties. However I have an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer which will not connect to the router. When I try to connect, the blue light just keeps on flashing but a connection is not found. Consequently my MacBook cannot "see" the printer on the network. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Deskjet 3510 printer

Trying to replace ink cartridge. I follow instructions but the cartridges don't move to the center of the printer when I open the door. Am I doing something wrong? It's a fairly new printer.

    Hi,
Make sure the printer is on when you are opening the cartridge acess door for the carriage to move to the center.  If that does not work try to move the carriage manually.
Please reffer the following link for more information on how to replace the cartridges.

  • Deskjet 3050 J610 will not install on Mavericks or new Router

I have had a deskjet 3050 J610 for a couple years and it has worked fine with our MacBook Pro (with the exception of updates) .  We recently restored our MacBook and added Mavericks.  We also have a new netgear modem/router.  We can not connect the printer to our network or to the laptop wirelessly.  Here is what has happened so far after spending hours attempting everything we could find online with no sucess......
-I can print from the Mac with a USB cable connected to printer
-I've restored the printers default settings
-Printed the HP Network Configuration Page and it shows our Network
It says my HP printer cannot find the access point.
Everything passed except network name found....this failed
    Network status-Offline
embedded web server-http://0.0.0.0      I can't even get to the webpage
    network name (SSID)-HPJ610a.0798A0
    ip address-not applicable
The blue light for wireless flashes on printer.
When I go to Wireless Menu it says wireless radio is on.
My next option is Settings, Under Settings I have Disable, WPS and Defaults.
Under WPS I get Push Button or PIN......neither worked.
Printer DOES NOT have a wireless setup wizard!
I have checked for updates on the Mac and do not have any (Original CD not compatible with Mavericks).  When I go to System Preferences-Print/Scan, it shows the printer as disabled.  I tryed downloading software & drivers from HP's website, but when I go to my Applications menu, there is not an HP folder/icon.
    PLEASE HELP!!

    Hi,
Currently a full feature software is not available for your products for Mavericks, however there are some other workarounds to connect the printer to your network.
Please follow these steps to create a temporary ad-hoc connection and then set the wireless connection through the printer's EWS page:
On the printer click on Wireless, then select Reset Wireless.
Turn the printer Off and back On.
If the wireless light is not blicking, click the wireless button and turn the Wireless Radio On.
From your Mac click the Wireless icon and then on Join Other Networks.
Click on Show network and connect to the printer SSID which includes J610 as part of its name.
Note: Allow 1-2 minutes to fully establish the temporary connection.
Open Safary, then click the Bonjour menu and select the listed Deskjet 3050.
Note: if there is no Bonjour option at the top menu, click Safary > Preferences > Advanced and check both of the Include Bonjour options at that screen. click OK and the Bonjour menu will appear.
Go to Network / Wireless and follow the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect the printer to your home network.
On your Mac click the WiFi icon and reconnect the Mac to your home network.
Now both your Mac and the printer are connected to your network, go to Printers & Scanners and add the printer by clicking the plus sign.

  • Power button will not switch printer off

I have owned HP products for over thirty years, with little in terms of serious problems. I am rather confused why the power button on my deskjet 8600 plus will not switch off the printer. When I reort to powering off from the wall socket this results in an errror message on re-powering, saying that powering off from wall socket could damage the printer. But there appears to be no fixes? The machine is less than a year old so would appreciate some support.

    Hey @Angus844,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that your power button is non responsive on your 8600 machine. I know you stated that you have a Deskjet 8600 but that may be a typo as HP manufacturers an Officejet 8600 Plus. I am going to provide you with troubleshooting steps for the Officejet 8600 Plus model. Be sure to correct me if these steps don't seem to coincide with your model.
It definitely appears that you are experiencing 'sleep mode' or 'power issues'. I am going to provide you with a support document that should resolve this issue for you:
The HP Printer Won't Turn On or Respond When the Power Button is Pressed
Be aware that Solution three: Make sure that the power supply is compatible with the printer, is a generic printer step. You should just have a power cable with no adaptor that goes straight from the printer into a wall outlet. The only lights for power that you should see on your model printer is the green power button on the front of the product.
If your printer is turning on and functioning, even for a period of time, than your issue does not appear to be power cord related. Therefore, after ensuring that the steps provided in the document above are completed I would like you to run a Firmware Update for your printer.
The Firmware Update for your printer can be found at:
HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g Drivers
After selecting the Operating System of your computer you need to select the Firmware option to download and run.
Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue. Good luck!

  • HP Deskjet 3510 wireless & Mac OS=Piece of junk

I recently bought an HP DeskJet 3510 printer and use Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.8 on various computers.  Since opening the box I've had nothing but problems with wireless printing.  The drivers are completely useless and the set up is ridiculous since you can't access anything except via USB or wireless.
This printer seems to always have to HAVE the first IP in your DHCP pool.  If not, your'e out of luck and have to do the set up all over.  Each weekly I have to set the printer up again over and over.  I have been through all of the mediocre Mac install instructions the same results.  It's ashame that this is such BS to set up.

I am not really sure I understand your problem.  You say that you cannot access anything except USB or wireless.  What else did you want to access?
Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.

Finally decided I needed to see it through and try to get help.  But I have been working on this for 4 hrs and feel like a "hostage" -- frustration doesn't quite describe what I feel right now.  I am getting in a panick because I NEEDED to scan 10 pps two hrs ago and here I am STILL sitting trying to get this d*%#$ thing to work.  PLEASE HELP!!

  • HP Deskjet 1510 will not print

    Hi Everyone,
I am not really tech savy so please be patient.
BEFORE I CONTINUE PLEASE NOTE I HAVE READ OTHER MESSAGES REGARDING THIS TOPIC HOWEVER I AM STILL AT A LOSS.
I have purchased a hp deskjet 1510 printer. I am having trouble printing from a word document or pdf file or a photo etc. I can photocopy however not print.
I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled. I have made sure that the printer is selected as the default printer etc.
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanking you in advance.

I am having real problems as well. It will not let me set the 1510 as default printer, telling me its not part of hte network.
I have spend 3 hours looking through this site to find answers and not one person on this site has managed to get a satisfactory answer and an explanation what is wrong. All you keep getting told is uninstall it and it will be fine.
I've uninstalled, re-installed, installed, everything and nothing is working.
Can someone PLEASE sort out what is wrong and provide a proper solution which doesn't involved uninstalling and reinstalling software which should work when we buy the bloody machine.
If I don't get a fix its going back to the shop and I'll buy a canon or an epsom, because the 1510 as it sits is a complete waste of money if you cannot even get the sodding thing to work when you buy it.
