Deskjet 3520 Black not printing

I have a Deskjet 3520e All-in-One printer and I just replaced all four of the ink cartidges in it because they were empty. Now, suddenly the black will not print.
I have done all the fixes suggested by the support documents on this website. The cartidges are genuine, I bought them from the HP online store, they are installed correctly, and vented correctly. I have done an alignment as well as printhead cleanings. I used the HP Scan and Print Doctor application which said there is nothing wrong with my printer.
I am not sure what else to try at this point except maybe to by yet another cartidge to see if a different one would work. I have never had issues with this printer before.  I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

  • My HP Deskjet 3520 will not print in black after replacing cartridge

I have just replaced all my ink cartridges in my HP DESKJET 3520 printer (it's wireless).  It prints in color fine, but not in black.  I've tried cleaning the print head, aligning the cartridges, checking the breather on the cartridges.  I've also just opened up another black cartridge, thinking maybe my new one was defective.  So now I've just wasted a cartridge.
so frustrated! My printer is more than a year old now to.  So no warranty.  when I click on the printer ink levels, it's recognizing I have full cartridges - but it's not printing in black at all.

  • Black not printing

Recently printer has stopped printing black.  It was almost out of black ink so I changed the black cartridge.  I had already changed the color cartridges within the past couple of weeks.  I have changed them many times and never had this happen.  Color works fine.  However most things I print are black and white (not color).  I did change it to another new black cartridge but that didn't help either so I know it was not the cartridge and that it was correctly installed.
Could this also have something to do with using the printer wirelessly when I moved my laptop around the house and do not have it connected?  Since I noticed the problem though it has been in my office and connected.  Any issues with using it wirelessly and then plugging it back in?  Sometimes it did not print at all wirelessly but would printg when I plugged it back in.  You could barely see the black when I first noticed the issue but now just spits out an entirely white page.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Photosmart 6510 black not printing

This morning I was able to print full-colour docs including black. After the first few prints, they became steadily fainter until nothing appeared. I checked the ink levels in the software and they were all marked as spent, so I went out and bought a 4-pack of HP inks. I installed them in the printer as indicated (wrapping off, orange whatnot off), tried test prints. Colours fine, no black. I ran a printhead clean from software, both an initial then a deeper clean. Printouts showed colour but no black. The control software shows all ink cartridges to be full. Printhead health is good. I turned it off and turned it on again. I cleaned the cartridge vent as advised in various threads. All with no effect - black doesn't print, despite a fresh new cartridge and the control software reporting the reservoir as full. If anyone on here has any ideas as to why this is the case then I'm all ears. If not, then I can only assume: a) the cartridge is knackered. As I've taken it out of its wrapping then I'll not be able to take it back to the shop.b) the printer is knackered, in which case it'll have to go to the skip as it's out of warranty. I've looked at the following forum threads: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Ink-Toner-Cartridge-Printhead-Issues/Black-not-printing/m-p/2926025http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Ink-Toner-Cartridge-Printhead-Issues/Photosmart-6515-doesn-t-print-black-ink-after-installing-new/td-p/2637505 and of course Googled. This problem has already cost me 3 hours and counting, so if it takes any longer then it would be cheaper for me to go out and buy a new (non-HP) printer.

  • HP 3520 will not print in black

I replaced the HP black ink cartridge with a new one and now it will not print black at all on my HP3520 Deskjet.
The color cartridges are printing okay.
I followed suggestions from your web site and did multiple cleanings of the printhead.  The air vents are clear on top also.
I believe the printer is out of warranty.  I see a lot of other people have the same problem with the black ink.
    Any suggestions?

  • Re: HP Deskjet 3520 - Won't print Black text

All of a sudden my black will not print..I have replaced all of the cartridges & still nothing--I am ready to throw this thing out the window...please advise me...

My HP Deskjet 3520 wont print black nither.
I have tried all tools in setup and made sure cartridges are good.
I checked to see if it was still under warrantyon the web site and it told me to call HP, the numbers they listed are all charged per min calls. I am so flabbergasted at HP, I cant believe HP put out such a junkie printer if at a year the black ink head goes out. I have read on-line that this is a very common problem and HP does not help with the issue. if you cant offer anything new to my issue don't bother, and please don't tell me to go through the troubleshooting page that tells you to check the paper, cartrage vent .....   if your going to help lets go to the sencond teer of troubleshooting or tell HP to get their ack together and take care of these issues. I have always been an HP user but im done with HP if they cant fix this.

  • My hp deskjet 9362c will not print in black and white/error message says the printer mode is set at

can not get my hp deskjet 932c to print in black and white.  error message states print mode in auto, but I can't find the print mode to correct.  printer was printing in black and white or color automatically til last night, then in middle of document quit altogether.  new cartridges get the same results.

Check the paper type settings.  If this is set to "automatic" and the paper type is detected as photo paper then black only print is not available.  (The black pigmented ink is not compatible with photo paper.)  What is your operating system?

  • My hp deskjet 842c will not print in color only in black

Until the other day, my printer was working quite well -- printing in colour or black.  It seems that I ran out of ink in my colour cartridge and upon replacement, the printer would no longer print in colour.  I replaced the colour cartridge again thinking that maybe the replacement cartridge was defective but the problem still persists -- the printer simply will not print any colour.  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium version 64 bit.

You can check the ink levels here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02693389&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang...
The driver for this printer, when used within Windows 7, is built-in or 'in-OS' so you do not have access to the HP solution center or HP Toolbox.
Printing the self-test report will show how the ink is dispensed and what levels of ink are available. If on this report there is nothing shown, the issue is likely related directly to the cartridges rather than a software issue.
If this is the case, visit this article and browser towards the bottom:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bud02948&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=...
There are steps on how to clean the cartridges as well as the underside of the carriage in case there is and debris or interferrance causing this issue.

  • HP Deskjet 3520 won't print magenta.

Hi - Recently the magenta in my printer stopped working. I replaced the cartridge, thinking it might be faulty but that didn't help. I have cleaned the print heads and done an alignment but nothing seems to work. What else could it be? Thanks!

Hi , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see the magenta stopped working on your HP Deskjet 3520, you replaced the cartridge, cleaned the printheads and aligned the printer with no success. Please make sure you have not missed any steps listed here: Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink  If you complete all of the steps in the document above and the issue continues, my own personal recommendation, not one of HPs, is to use the solution offered in the following video.  I only suggest doing this if the printer is out of warranty; How to fix a HP Printer, not printing black ink and missing colours  Although the printer might be out of warranty, if the issue persists, HP may be able to offer you something. • Photosmart 5520 - Black not printing on some things

My 5520 has been fitted with new cartridges and all work except the black.  Strangely, black (or at least grey) writing prints on the quality/print report and the cartridge shows as full when this is checked by the on screen request.  However, the print report has a completely blank rectangle under the 'black' heading.  I have followed all the usual steps but I am confused as to why I get black printing but no black on pictures.

HI , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand that you're unable to print black on your HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer. I will certainly do my best to help you. I would try the steps within this guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart 5520 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 5520 e-All-in-One Printer Series.  Solution one: Use genuine HP ink cartridges HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink cartridges or refilled HP ink cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP ink cartridges, the steps in this document might not resolve print quality issues.Visit HP SureSupply to check ink cartridge compatibility or purchase replacement ink cartridges.Go to the HP SureSupply website.Scroll to the bottom of the page, and then make sure the country/region location is correct.Follow the on-screen instructions to order new ink cartridges or check ink cartridge compatibility with your printer.Genuine HP ink cartridges can also be purchased from other retailers. Solution two: Check the estimated ink levels, and then replace any low or empty ink cartridgesLow ink can contribute to poor print quality. Follow these steps to check the estimated ink levels, and then replace any low or empty ink cartridges. Step 1: Check the estimated ink levelsFollow these steps to check the estimated ink levels. From the home screen of the printer control panel, touch the Ink icon (). The current ink levels display.Figure : Example of estimated ink levels NOTE: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low-ink levels, consider having a replacement ink cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. You do not need to replace ink cartridges until print quality becomes unacceptable. If none of the cartridges are low on ink, you do not need to replace them yet. Continue to the next solution. If any of the cartridges are low on ink, continue to the next step to replace them.Step 2: Replace any low or empty ink cartridgesFollow these steps to replace any low or empty ink cartridges.Video of replacing the ink cartridges The following video demonstrates how to replace a cartridge.  If you have trouble viewing the video or to view the video in a different size, click here to play the video on YouTube. If the product is off, press the Power button () to turn on the product. Twist the cap counter-clockwise until it snaps off.Figure : Remove the orange cap from the cartridgeWith the nozzle and the contacts facing down, push the cartridge into its slot. Run your finger along the top of the cartridges to feel for any that are protruding, and if any are, press down firmly until each cartridge snaps into place.Close the cartridge access door.Figure : Close the cartridge access doorTry the print job again.Solution four: Clean the printheadFollow these steps to use an automated tool to clean the printhead.Make sure that plain white U.S. letter or A4 size paper is loaded in the tray. From the control panel home screen, touch the Settings icon (), and then touch Tools.Touch the Down Arrow (), and then touch Clean Printhead. The product cleans the printheads, and then prints a test page.Review the print quality on the test page.Figure : Example of the printhead cleaning test pageIf the print quality on the test page is satisfactory, return to the current print job.If the print quality on the test page is unsatisfactory, perform a secondary cleaning of the printhead. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again. NOTE:  Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are missing. Make sure that you replace any missing ink cartridges as soon as possible to avoid print quality issues and possible extra ink usage or damage to the ink system. To avoid issues that require cleaning the printhead, always turn the printer off with the Power button on the printer itself.Solution five: Service the printer Contacting HP for service in all countries/regions except Asia Pacific. If you completed all the preceding steps and your product still has an issue, service the product.First, go to Check your product warranty to check your printer warranty status, and then go to Contact HP Support to find an authorized service dealer or to schedule a repair.Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty printers. NOTE: Keep a print sample that shows the problem. If the ink cartridges, printhead, or printer is replaced under warranty, the support agent will request the print sample. If the printer is returned to HP, the print sample must be returned with the printer. Place the sample in the output tray when you package your printer for shipping. What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

  • HP Deskjet 1510 will not print

    Hi Everyone,
I am not really tech savy so please be patient.
BEFORE I CONTINUE PLEASE NOTE I HAVE READ OTHER MESSAGES REGARDING THIS TOPIC HOWEVER I AM STILL AT A LOSS.
I have purchased a hp deskjet 1510 printer. I am having trouble printing from a word document or pdf file or a photo etc. I can photocopy however not print.
I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled. I have made sure that the printer is selected as the default printer etc.
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanking you in advance.

I am having real problems as well. It will not let me set the 1510 as default printer, telling me its not part of hte network.
I have spend 3 hours looking through this site to find answers and not one person on this site has managed to get a satisfactory answer and an explanation what is wrong. All you keep getting told is uninstall it and it will be fine.
I've uninstalled, re-installed, installed, everything and nothing is working.
Can someone PLEASE sort out what is wrong and provide a proper solution which doesn't involved uninstalling and reinstalling software which should work when we buy the bloody machine.
If I don't get a fix its going back to the shop and I'll buy a canon or an epsom, because the 1510 as it sits is a complete waste of money if you cannot even get the sodding thing to work when you buy it.

  • HP Deskjet 1510 AIO Not Printing

i recently brought HP Deskjet 1510 AIO and tried to install on my windows. While i never faced any issue with any HP printer, this one is making me mad.
It does scan, copy, alignment test and all but does not print through any program. I tried various solutions but no luck.
I have installed Windows 8.1 on my Mac Air through bootcamp but it should not have any concerns because of it as other printer used to work. It is also working fine in my Apple OS but not in Windows.

    This worked for me.

    Hi,
Have you been able to print using the mobile apps previously? It might be worth restarting your device and re-connecting to the wfi network.
If there has been a password change to the network, the password will need to be re-entered on both the tablet and printer.

  • Black not printing - did all recommended steps, still not printing

I tried all the steps recommended in other posts. Still not printing black. If I replace the printhead, will that solve the problem?

    Hello @MN8  and @WHMaggie,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are both experiencing quality issues when printing in black ink from your HP Officejet 6500 All-in-One Printers. I would like to offer some additional assistance with resolving this issue.
Can I please have you both click here to access the troubleshooting steps. Once the support document opens please check Steps 1-5 to ensure that no steps have been missed. If you have completed those 5 steps to no avail, please proceed with Step 7 and Step 8 to manually clean and soak the Printhead mechanism.
Should the issue persist after cleaning the Printhead manually than the next step would be to replace the Printhead. The Printhead is the part that the cartridges fit into. It controls 'reading' the cartridges and putting ink on the page. If you're experiencing cartridge detection or quality issues and a replacement cartridge fails to resolve the issue than the next step would be to replace the Printhead mechanism. There is always a chance that the print system within the actual Officejet is defective. Should that be the case than a replacement Printhead will not resolve the issue and a whole unit replacement would be needed. If your printers are Out of Warranty I would recommend contacting our Technical Support queue by phone to explore replacement Printhead and printer options.
HP Technical Support can be reached at: 800-474-6836.
