Deskjet 5440 stopped printing wirelessly from my MacBook Pro after upgrading to OS 10.8
My home printer is connected by cable to a desktop Mac (Power Mac G5). I have always printed wirelessly to it from my MacBook Pro laptop through our home wireless network. However, just recently I upgraded the operating system on my laptop to 10.8.2. At the same time, I upgraded the HP driver software (from HP) that is supposed to allow the 5440 to work with the new OS. Since then, I can print from my laptop if it is connected by cable to the printer, but not wirelessly. When I attempt to print wirelessly, get a message that says the printer is not connected.
So you are using Printer Sharing on the PowerMac? If so, on the PowerMac, go to System Preferences > Print & Fax and delete the printer with the '-' sign at the bottom of the printer list. Re-add it with the '+' sign.
Make sure that Printer Sharing is checked and that in System Preferences > Sharing that Printer Sharing is also checked there.
Now, on the MacBook Pro, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan and click the '+' sign to add the printer.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

Go here - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP - and see if that model is supported by Apple.

I am trying to set up using my printer wirelessly through airport. I have a macbook and my husband can print wirelessly from his Macbook Pro but I can't. What do I have to do to set mine up? The printer is an Epson R2400
Is there a cd that came with the printer?
If so, put in the cd and that will help you set it up.
If not, I think macs come with a program that helps you set up printers.
Also make sure that the printer is connected to the same network.
Make sure the printer is on. -
My iPad is on the same network as the Airport Extreme. The HP printer is on the list of Airprint printers but I'm not using it as a wireless printer, per se, as it's hooked up to the USB port on the Airport Extreme.
I installed the HP ePrint app on my iPad. Unfortunately, the app could not find the printer either.
As mentioned earlier, I'm able to print wirelessly to the HP printer via my MacBook Pro.ApplePearApple wrote:
Since I'm able to print to the HP printer from my MacBook Pro using this configuration, shouldn't I be able to print to the printer from my iPad, especially when all of the devices are on/using the same network?
Not necessarily. AirPrint uses a protocol separate from the communication protocol used for the Extreme's USB port. The HP printer may disable AirPrint when its USB port connected to a valid device, which is my reason for recommending you use it wirelessly.
From AirPrint Basics:
AirPrint printers connected using Bluetooth or shared through a USB port of a Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule are not supported.
AirPrint printers connected by Ethernet are supported in OS X.
You may get more competent assistance from HP. See this HP support forum topic: iPhone & iPad can't Airprint to p1102w LaserJet
HP's Mac support has always been miserable though. I have been much happier since I abandoned HP and started buying Brother printers. They just work. -
Can't print wirelessly from my MacBook Pro to HP Officejet Pro L7580 anymore?
I really need some help to get my MacBook Pro to print wirelessly to my HP Officejet Pro L7580! I am running
Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A494a) on my computer. The only way I can print is wired by usb. As of about a week ago, the Bonjour quit working, although, it is still listed as a printing option. However, it says it's offline and not connected!Hello,
Thanks for the post. with this one, you do have the option of printing through HP's ePrint Home and Biz. I've included a couple of links below with some excellent information regarding ePrint and how to get started. Good Luck!

I cannot print wirelessly from my macbook air
I am trying to print wirelessly from my macbook air 256gb. We have a HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series. It works fine printing when I plug my computer into the cord that is connected to the printer. but without the cord, it says the printer is "offline". I am wondering if the only way to print is if I connect it with the cord, or if i can somehow print wirelessly that I do not know about. thanks!
also, the printer says it is not connected, maybe if i connect it, i can print wirelessly. how do i connect it?

My MG8120 won't print wirelessly from my MacBook running OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks). It works fine with all of the other HP printers in the office. Another user has the same problem with her PC running Windows 7. And she, too, has no problems printing on the other HPs. I or she cannot print to any of three Canon printers in the office.
Hi,
Please try the following steps,
Download every updates from Apple and HP
Reset or Delete the printer from your mac (it may work trhough USB)
Reset all settings into default settings on your printer
Turn off or unplug mac, printer, modem, router
Plug everything and reboot all
Reconnect the printer to home wifi network and mac also reconnect to the correct network
I work for HP. I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

I cannon get my HP OfficeJet 6700 to print wireless with my Macbook Pro? Any suggestions?
Just found a solution to this problem via HP technical support by changing my Officejet 6700's dynamic IP address to a static IP address:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/OfficeJet-6700-prin ts-test-page-but-not-Word-or-other/m-p/2257137#M51621
After making these changes and rebooting my printer immediately started working again. -
iMovie was removed from my macbook pro after I downloaded OS X Yosemite, I had it before and have used it, but now I can only get it through the app store. I can't pay for it so I would really appreciate the help.
Look in your applications folder for the installer - Install OS X Yosemite. Delete it. Then go back to the App Store purchases tab and see if you can download it. You might have to re-index Spotlight.

How do I print wirelessly from my Mac Pro to Epson XP-810 printer
I recently bought a Epson XP-810 printer and conected to my WiFi wireless router ASUS N750. The printer's test sheet states that network is working correctly but a "Router / Access point channel" conflict has been detected. I'm using a macbookpro with the current Maverick OS. The system setting shows the printer is on idle, but when I try printing wirelessly from laptop it doesn't print.
Any assistance or advice would be greatly apprecite it.Do you know the printer's IP? If you have it you can use Network Utility to ping the printer. Its in System / Library / CoreServices / Applications.
Enter the IP in the empty field, the number of pings you want to send, then click Ping.
The results might help locate the problem. -
Lexmark s300 will not print wirelessly on new macbook pro
Hi
I have recently purchased my first mac - macbook pro and i cannot get the printer to print wirelessly. The printer is connected to the router and will talk to my old laptop but i cannot get the mac to do the same.
It finds the printer ok but will not send anything to it. I have downloaded new drivers etc and nothing seems to be working.
Any suggestions? I have tried lexmarks website and mac and still no joy.
ThanksI get the same error message ("/Library/Printers/Lexmark/Drivers/LexmarkCUPSDriver.app/Contents/MacOS/Lexmar kCUPSDriver failed") when I try to print on my LEXMARK S605 since I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard (on iMac IntelCore2Duo, 2006).
I updated the system up to 10.6.4, I upgraded the printer firmware, I updated the Lexmark drivers downloading them from Lexmark website.... still have the same bug.
I wish someone will find a solution for us. Thank you in advance for your advices. -
How to print photos from the MacBook Pro on the HP4580 printer
I cannot seem to print photos in iPhotos on my MacBook Pro on my HP4580 all-in-one printer?
Make sure you've cropped your photo in iPhoto to the same size as the paper size selected if you want a borderless print and have selected the same print size.
Have you searched the HP website for drivers for the HP4580 printer or installed the latest HP printer drivers offered by Apple? HP Printer Drivers v. 2.13 for OS X -
