Deskjet 9800 = Print small part of screen

Is there a way to print only a small part of the full screen ?

Hit shift and print screen.  open up paint and paste it in, crop it to what you want to print, and print it.
Some of the higher end printers have drivers that will let you print a single frame from a web page (if the web page uses frames), other wise it's the old print screen and crop option.

  • Does not install right. can only see a small part of screen

When I go to open Firefox it does not open correctly. The screen does not come up. It show the desktop with like a clear film on it and fuzzy. Some on the left side of the screen and nothing anywhere else. You can not see enough to do anything. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and that does not help. I go to the help on Internet Explorer and find the help for Mozilla support. It tell me to open Firefox and go to this and that, but I can even get to that part. I need your help in getting this straighten out.

can you try the troubleshooting steps described at [[Firefox opens with a transparent or blank window]]. if this resolves the issue, it would also be interesting which extension caused the issue in your case. thank you!
it might also be an issue with hardware acceleration. please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]], or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in ''firefox > options > advanced > general''.

  • Deskjet 9800 prints incorrectly

Printed 8 1/2 x 11 on 11 x 17 print jobs....printed 8 1/2 x 11 jobs at 90 degrees from desired ( landscape instead of portrait).   Installed driver from another model and it worked OK  Wouldn't print - "out of paper"....not true, black ink had leaked great quantities. Cleaning it out looks somewhere between really messy and impossible. Professional repair is almost same price as a new printer. I guess it's fair enough, a $175 printer lasted about 7 years.....................

Hi  I saw your post regarding the several printer issues you have listed, and I would like to provide your some additional information about your concerns.

Cleaning it out looks somewhere between really messy and impossible. For the 'Out of Paper Message' you could try the steps outlined in this document; The Printer Does Not Pick Up Paper; "Out of Paper" Error Message. As for the ink leaking, were you using Genuine HP ink cartridges?  Note: HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink cartridges or refilled HP ink cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP ink cartridges, the steps in this post might not resolve the issue you experiencing. If you were you could review the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges and Customer-Replaceable Printheads for HP Inkjet Supplies, and Contact HP Support for further assistance. • Deskjet 9800 doesn't recognize new color cartridge

When my Deskjet 9800 printer reported that the color cartrridge was out of ink and I replaced it several months ago, I put in a replacement cartridge (#97) from a new package that I had in reserve.  The printer failed to recognize it, continuing to report that there was a problem (left print cartridge light blinks, power light on).   I figured the replacement might have been faulty, and tried another new cartridge.  Same result.  I put one of these cartridges that it rejected in another printer I have (a Deskjet 6840) and except for not being willing or able to tell me the ink level in that (because it was moved from one printer to another?) it worked fine in that printer.  I have tried at least three new HP ink cartridges, including a freshly purchased one with an expiration date two years in the future, and I get the same result from the 9800 printer.
Unfortunately, the "top open" sensor in the 6840 broke so now it thinks the top is open all the time and I can't print with it, either.
The tape on the cartridge has always been removed before installation, I have tried "hard resets" several times, and I have tried cleaning the contacts in the cartridge holder and on the cartridges (which don't look like they have any stuff on them, and which I never handle)
    Questions:
    1) is there anything else that might explain this behavior that might be fixed, either by me or by some repair service?
    2) is it possible to get repair parts or repair service for the 6840 printer, or is this now junk?

    Hi Monteverdi,
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/ .
    I hope this helps.

  • Sharing an HP deskjet 9800 on a windows 7 64 bit machine with a machine running XP 32 bit

I have Windows 7 (64bit) on my computer.  I want to install an x86 driver for my HP Deskjet 9800 printer so my XP laptop can print to this printer through my home network.  I started by clicking on Devices and Printer, clicked on the HP Deskjet printer icon, right clicked the icon and selected Printer Properties. I clicked on the Sharing tab and the change setting button.  I then selected Additional Drivers.  I put a check in the box next to x86 and clicked OK. Windows wants me to provide the driver.  I downloaded the xp driver from HP and can see it in a folder on the desktop but get an error something to the affect of "not compatiable with
    64 bit system"
How do I get this driver installed on my computer? or is there another solution to print to this printer from my XP machine?

Try the following: On the XP machine go to the Printers folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a Port, Local Port, \\Computername\Printername (use the actual share name for the computer and printer), OK, then select HP Deskjet 9800 series.  (If the Deskjet 9800 is not available install the driver as if the printer was connected to LPt1:, then after the drivers are installed cancel and go back and add printer pointing to the new shared port.

  • Duplex Printing with Deskjet 9800

I Bought a Deskjet 9800 and then ordered the appropriate Duplex UNit.  The duplexunit was working very well until about 2 months ago. However, after my system crashed and had to reinstall Vista Ultimate.  I have tried to go through the configuration process and change the system with the settings that we have the Duplex unit installed but the memory does not retain such instructions.
How can I solve this problem?

Go to the printers folder, right click on the 9800, Run as Administrator, Properties, (continue), Device Settings, Installable Options, Duplex unit - set to installed, Apply, Security, (allow all appropriate users ability to print, manage printers and manage print queue), Apply, General, Properties, (set appropriate defaults),Apply,  Advanced, Printing Preferences, set appropriate settings, OK.
For proper operation of the duplexer you may also need the duplexer patch available as described here.

  • My deskjet 9800 only prints partial pages

My deskjet 9800 only prints partial pages in 11x17" format. then pulls another paper for two inches of printing then pulls another paper for another two inches of printing etc. Other sizes work fine. I just upgraded my computer and changed cable to a usb port. I downloaded a new driver and reset all the settings. I am lost as what to do. thank you Einer Mortensen

Hello , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing partial print issues when printing from your Windows 8 computer to your HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this wireless printing issue. Because you are able to scan without issues, and are able to print from other devices perfectly fine I do not believe that this is a networking issue, or a software and driver conflict between your Windows computer and your printer. Rather, I believe that there is a wireless printing port (WSD Port) conflict occuring on your computer. Can I please have you follow the steps below to resolve this issue.  Microsoft has released a Hotfix to correct printing issues within the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems. This includes 'Partial Printing' and 'Printer Offline' issues. The printing issues appear to affect networked printers regardless of make or model and is a conflict with the WSD Network Port on Windows 8.1. Please click here to download and run a Microsoft Fix It Tool. Once the website opens for the Hotfix please click the button for 'Hotfix Download Available'. Please follow the onscreen prompts to install the Hotfix. Once the Hotfix has been loaded please test wireless printing again. If printing fails you may need to restart your computer for the Hotfix to take affect. Once your computer comes ON test wireless printing to confirm that the issue has been resolved.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

  • HP Deskjet 1000 Printer - J110a cannot print in color using WIndows 8

J110a cannot print in color using WIndows 8. The printer will only print in black and white even though it works fine on a PC with Windows 7. I installed the latest drivers from the HP web-site.

    Hey @KC1964,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that since installing your HP Deskjet 1000 Printer on your Windows 8 computer you have not been able to print in colour. Because you are able to print fine from a Windows 7 computer we know that this issue is not being caused by your printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. I'm thinking that your machine is  either experiencing a driver conflict or a setting issue within the Windows 8 computer. Please follow the steps below.
    Step 1: Check Settings:
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens type Devices and Printers
    Click on Devices and Printers
In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your HP Deskjet
    Select Printing Preferences
In the Preferences window select the Advanced button on the bottom right
Look for the Greyscale or Print Black Only and make sure they are disabled
If all settings are correct, yet the issue persists, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 2: Try Alternate Driver:
To confirm if this issue is specific to the Deskjet 1000 driver I am going to have you load an alternate driver on your machine.
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens type Devices and Printers
In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your Deskjet 1000 and left click on Printer Properties
Left click on the Advanced tab
    Left click on New Driver
When the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
Select HP as the Manufacturer on the left
Select Deskjet 9800 as the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 doesn't appear than select 'Windows Update' on the bottom left and once the update completes you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.
After selecting Deskjet 9800 hit next to complete the New Driver Wizard
Under the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OK
    Select the General tab
Rename your printer back to HP Deskjet 1000
    Hit OK
Lastly, right click on your Deskjet 1000 one more time and left click on Printing Preferences
Left click on the Paper/Quality tab
Left click on the 'Normal' dropdown for Print Quality on the bottom right and change this to Fast Normal
    Click Apply and OK
Now that the new driver is added in, please test printing in colour again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • Downloaded iOS 7.0.2 and one of my apps (ultimate history quiz) changed size. It is so large I am not able to play the game because most of the print is off the screen on my iPad. Help!!!!

Had an app (Ultimate History Quiz) that I played frequently. It came up on the screen in the smaller iPhone version. Then I downloaded iOS 7.0.2, and now the app is so big that the printing goes off the screen, making it impossible to play. I checked the app sore to buy another one, and it is no longer available on there.  WHAT CAN I DO TO RESTORE THE GAME TO ITS ORIGINAL SIZE???????

Wait for apple to tweak things....or talk to the app developer. they haven't updated since the update and unless APple happens to fix whatever the issue is, then the burden is on history to make their app work with the iOS

  • Can't print small documents

I have three printers a Color LazerJet CM2320 MFP Series PCL6, a DeskJet 9800 and a OfficeJet 7400.  I am trying to print RSVP cards for my daughter's wedding and they are getting stuck in all three printers.  The cards are 3.1/2 X 4.7/8 inches.  Is there anything I can do with these printers or is there another printer that I could purchase than will print light cardstock that size?

The Deskjet 9800 should handle those through the front manual feed slot.
