Deskjet D1360 error: Door Open SOLVED

Been using this Deskjet printer for over 3 years. never seen this error: "Door Open."  "Cover Open" is a common message when the cover is opened to access the cartridges, but where is the door on a Deskjet 1300 series? Where is the sensor that triggers this message? Nothing will print when this message Door Open appears. Tried turning the printer on and off. Tried rebooting the notebook computer on and off.  Tried re-inserting the cartridges and paper.  Have not tried re-installing the printer drivers. What to do?
Solved: Door Open is the same as Cover Open in deeper layers of the Printer Software. There is only one cover with a sensor on this printer.
Solved: By reinstalling the printer software, the Door Open error message disappeared and the blockage to printing stopped, allowing normal printing to proceed.

The only thing I can think of is the rear access door? Try the steps in this document:

Welcome to the HP Forums gojiya,
I see by your post that you are getting a error that the door is open.
I can help you with this issue.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 30-60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
What happened before receiving the error? (paper jam, replacing the toner)
If you need further assistance, let me know.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Computer says printer HP deskjet F2180 door open but it is closed

Computer says printer HP deskjet F2180 door open but it is closed.  Printer seems to be happy and working OK (no lights telling me there is a problem) and when I took the ink cartridges out (21 and 22) then put them back in the printer it printed out the scan document for me.  It's just that in the HP printer section on the PC it's saying 1 document in queue and Printer: door open.  I've tried everything - switched off everything for 30 seconds etc and time is of essence as I have to have things printed by Saturday pm and collated etc.  Please help!  Thanks, Lindaeleanor.

    Hi @lindaeleanor,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your Windows 7 computer says printer HP Deskjet F2180 door open, but it is closed. I am happy to look into this for you!
I would suggest to start by trying out our HP Print and Scan Doctor program, and going through this guide, HP Deskjet, Officejet, Photosmart, and PSC All-in-One Printers - 'Door Open' Error Message Displays .... If those two options do not resolve your issue, proceed with the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any Antivirus programs. Disable Antivirus software.
Disable any firewall programs. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 7).
Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this information helps, and have a great day!

  • J6480 Ink Cartridge Door Hinges Broke. Door Open error message won't let me print. What can I do?

Have always been very careful with cartridge & scanner doors.  Pressing OK doesn't remove error message.  Broken hinges will no longer go down, so Door Open message won't go away and preventing printing.

The problem is the spring tension used to hold the cover open is stronger than the poorly designed weak hinges.
The way I solved it was to break both the hinges, (pretty easy to do just open and close the cover a few times),  lift the cover up being carefull not to break the ribbon cable (wires) from the cover to the base. Then I pryed out the lower spring plates, these are located in the hinge assembly of the printer and removed the black plastic plunger and  the large springs below it from both hinges. The cover wil now stay closed and allow you to print. You just have to be careful when changing the print cartridges as the cover can open too far now and possibly break the wires going to the top cover.
    Happy Printing

  • 1200 all in one wont print due to door open error message wont clear

how do i clear an error message when there is no error

    Hi @1handcrafter,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are getting the Door Open error with your HP Photosmart c7180, and I am happy to help you!
I am glad that you are able to do a test page on the printer itself, so we know it isn't something hardware related. What I would recommend is to try the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens! Then we will go from there.
Hope this works, and have a good day!

  • How do i clear a door open error on my c3180

I had a paper jam and when i removed the paper I have a door open error on my computer

Probably there still some pieces of the paper in there, or the "door" (you might opened it to clear the paper jam) was not closed properly. You get this message, because the sensor is still in open mode.

  • Door open error

    1. HP Deskjet 2050 J510 series
    2. Windows 7
    3. "Door Open" the door or cover must be closed to print.
I have just replaced the cartridges as the lights were flashing.  The door is closed.  I have also disconnected the power and checked for any obstructions or jams.  There were none.  the lights have stopped flashing on the device itself but I am still getting an error saying the door is open even though it is not.
This is not the first time I have had this error occur and I have no idea how it resolved itself the last time.

Same problem on the 7600 and 7700 series OfficeJets. HP has admitted elsewhere on this forum that these issues came up during the design phase, but were not corrected. The "ink cartridge door open" problem has been around for years, yet HP continues to design and sell printers with the same issues. The fact that the door is open has no bearing whatsover on the printer's ability to function - the door could be removed and the machine could still print, scan, fax, copy, etc. (Don't be fooled by HP assertions that the door is necesary to protect the ink cartridges from dirt and dust that can get into the compartment and damage the printer. Those cartridges are locked into a sealed system and the door itself provides little, if any, protection from dust.) This is a "warning" that should be an "advisory" that can be overriden by the user. The VERY simple fix would be to update the software (in the many, many updates HP feels the need to send) so that all functions would work with the door open or removed. That fix, however, would inhibit HP's ability to keep telling you you that you have a broken printer and need to buy a new one, and to sell post-warranty "product support." HP should be ashamed that it does not have the will (or skill) to resolve such minor issues.

  • HP 1410 All in One Door Open Error

A friend gave me his HP 1410 All in One printer a while back, so I installed all the drivers to my Windows 7 Home Premiuim Sony Laptop. The Scanner works just fine, but when I attempt to print a document, files pile up in the queue with an error to the side,  Door Open. I've closed the door, but still get this error. When I open it, the ink container centers, and when I close it, it goes back to one side of the printer, but the error remains. I've restarted the printer but the error remains. Is it a broken part, or is there a way to bypass the door check?

your door interlock is not makeing contac.chack the front door to see if it is lineing up whit the covers or see ifyou brook aneything inside the front cover whear you added toner.the interlock is in the front door of the michane also you can make sure all of the other doors is closed

  • Firefox gives error by opening Yahoo Mail. Other webbrowers don't have this problem. How do I solve this

Firefox gives an error by opening Yahoo mailbox.
It mentions every time: 404 Not Found
When using other webbrowers Yahoo is doing fine.
How do I solve this problem?

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
    Thank you.

  • Error message: door open

I have an HP desk jet 3000 printer; I have an error message that said: door open. What does this mean? And how do I correct the problem?I cannot print!
    Thanks to all who help!!

If that is a real error, then one of the access points (ink door or cleanout door) is not fully closed/latched.
If it is not a real error, then a hard power reset may be in order. With the power on, remove the power cord from the back of the printer. Wait at least 30 seconds, then connect the power cord back to the printer. Turn the printer on.

  • Deskjet 6840 door open

I have a deskjet 6840 color printer that won't recognize that the door is closed.  I removed and replaced the ink cartridges and when doing so the door stuck about a 1/4 inch from closing all the way.  I couldn't see anything wrong and the door finally went down after pushing hard although I think something may have snapped inside.  Now the door opens and closes smoothly but it seems the printer thinks it is open all the time.  I have cycled the printer on and off but after spending 2 days on this I give up.  Is this fixable?  I searched the forums but didn't find any thread started on this topic that applies to this printer model.  Thanks for any help on how to fix this.

I have found the solution to the problem.  The tab that the cover hinge pushes up to tell the printer the door is closed has broken off.  I can push it up manually and the printer now works.  I will look further to see if the part is replaceable.
